Don’t trust please in these companies Sunset Share and Sunset World resorts and vacation, do not make any type of deal with these people.

Me and my husband end it up to buy this vocational membership but after we sign the contract at next day we were having a lot of questions about it but because we want to enjoy the vacations we didn’t put enough attention in the contract. But after two days we read a little bit more and was a lot of things miss what we were told

So I sent a text messages to seller saying that we don’t want to continue with this contract and he always said that he cannot do anything at this time because everything was close but tomorrow I meet you for we can talk, then the next day was my fourth day since we sign the contract, he was saying that the five days we have to cancel it passed along time ago he said says on the contract and I told him that he never say anything like that before, and then he just give me one option and he says everyone can win what it’s I said and he said just accept everything pay the first month and then you can send a letter saying that I can’t continue it with these and then you can sell it to us again and then we can give you back the 80% of the down payment you give it to us

That way no one is going to lose

So I think all that and I didn’t trust I don’t want to keep losing money so at 6th day someone call me to accept everything and I say I don’t want this I want to be able to cancel before I have to pay the first month and this people say I just have to sent an email back and then someone it going to call you from the legal department and the only people called me after 2 weeks was the same people from this company call sunset world solutions and they was trying to get the interest lower o the payments and I say to him that I want to just cancel this contract I am not interested no more I can not pay.. and with very bad actitud he said he is going to pass this information to the legal department and he was saying that if we don’t pay they going to send it to collections because the financial company works in United States too

On September 2021, my wife and I went on vacation to Hacienda Tres Rios in in Quintana Roo Mexico. Lies, Lies, Lies, that’s all the sellers vendedores tell you. We were told you buy this Timeshare we will give you $8000 dollars a year from renting it. Yo will make your money back in a couple of years. BS. They will hold you hostage they tell you it will the tour and presentation will take 2:30 hrs and then they will let you go if you want “Lie” they don’t let you go they promise free vacations, free cruise vacations. They will tell you they are certified by the BBB and show you a certificate. “LIEs” everything they say it’s a lie then here comes the signing. They will bring a tablet and ask you to sign and initial. They go through it very quickly and don’t allow you to read it. Then they say you rad it later. They also add a lot of stuff that they don’t tell you at the beginning. Like extra maintenance Fees or extraordinary fees on top of what you already have. Heartless, rude no morals whatsoever. You will be stuck with a big debt that it’s not worth a penny. Don’t buy they are Scammers. Let’s do a Class Action Lawsuit. Y and I will get back to you. united we can stop this scammers and get our money back. I have the sale person recorded with everything he said and promise.

The way I understood my plan and the presentation I had is that I'll have 20 corporate weeks that I can spend in affiliated hotels in Cancun, non-inclusive, 40 international weeks (2 weeks per year) that I can use around the world which include the hotel, and the affiliation to the platform wherein I can have benefits and discounts with the travel, flights, cruise, etc.

When I went on the website and look for international hotels, it gives me a dollar amount to pay, discounted price.

I was told yesterday that the 40 international weeks should be booked through the platform/Club Sunset Website and the benefits that I can get are discounts and membership by using the website.

That is not what I have been told and understood the whole plan as also shown below.

If the only benefits I can get are the 20 corporate weeks and using the platform to get discounts and not getting the 40 weeks of internationally covered hotels, why do I have to pay more than 10k? I would rather save it and pay as I go.

We travelled to Mexico last Feb 2023. Before our last day we’ve been invited to a presentation. We don’t have clue what its all about. We’ve meet Fabrizio Villanueva and he sounded a decent guy. He took us to a good mexican breakfast after we eat he started explaining about the membership program. He explained it well that even you know that it’s to good to be true, you’ll end up signing a contract in the end. He showed us the whole Tres Rios and took us to their office for a continued presentation we’re we meet Pepe his Manager. They said we have 7 weeks that they will rent it and we can use 1 week for ourselves every year. On top of that we are recieving ROI in a year.

They both sounds legit and you never thought it will be a scam.. We end up signing a contract. A month later we have our lawyer reviewed the contract and he said that there’s no ROI indicated on it so in short there’s no earnings. So you’ll just paying them $27,000 for what … just a 1 week vacation?! That’s ridiculous!

For ereyone out there that will travel to Mexico be aware on this kind of modus. Dont sign anything espicially when your not on your country.

Sunset Group refuses to comply with Mexican law and refund my money, in January 2023 I stayed at one of their resorts(Ocean Spa Resort, Cancun) as part of our vacation deal we had to go to a sales presentation at one of their nicer resorts. I decided to buy their (Ultimate Loyalty Program) package for a couple thousand. After signing I read many reviews about sunset group and alleged misrepresentation of contracts, unscrupulous buisness practices, ect. I decided to cancel my contract pursuant to Article 56 of the Mexican consumer protection law which allows buyers to cancel their contract and recieve a refund without penalty within 5 days of signing the contract. Sunset group decided to put a ""clever"" clause in the contract disguised as article 56 of the Mexican consumer protection law but it stipulates that sunset group gets to keep all monies in the event of cancellation. However this is contrary article 1 of the Mexican consumer protection law as rights under this law are not waivable. Sunset group alleges that this does not apply to Vacation clubs and only applies to timeshares even though article 56 never once mentions timeshares and deals specifically with Door-to-door, Non-immediate or Indirect Selling, I tried explaining this and the "delightful" employee of Sunset refuses to acknowledge this and obey the law. I decided to just despute the transaction with the bank and threatened Sunset with this if they won't refund my money to which the sunset employee said "ok, we will send the page that you sign, that not apply any refund." To listen and very convincing after all nice explanation got convinced. Since we are on holiday for 7days we are in a hurry to enjoy our stay without reading carefully the agreement just depended on the nice explainetion. After going through when we are back to our origin country i immediately phoned them to cancel since they have i think within 7days to cancel but Michael Guerra the sales rep told me that its too late so just to keep me he offered again amd lowered memberahip to 10years than 20yrs since i do not know what else to do I completed paying th full membership. Sales person did not honestly explained that i am paying for discounted hotel and not really any free. Now they are charging my cc every yr for usd299 for maintenance. If discounted hotels why i have to pay maint. Pls help. Me i would like termjnate this

THIS resort and its hotels, specifically Hacienda Tres Rios is a scam. I have been trying to get my refund now for over 2 years. I called more than 15 times, spoke with representatives, sent bank information in 2 languages. Mr. Luis Nava in exchange reserves has said that we have been "approved" for the refund (months ago), but every time we call, they say "their "internal" people are saying that my refund is NOT processed. Their hands are tied "This is ridiculous. Once again, I've jumped all the hurdles you asked me to and we get nothing but running. It costs me $$$$$ to keep calling Mexico, sending faxes and scanning documents, etc. and there is NO SOLVE.

Two days ago I took an almost forced membership with them and I'm sorry now I call to cancel the membership and all morning they moved me from one area to another on the phone line nobody gives me a reason I don't know how to cancel this I'm really upset.

I keep reading all the HORRIBLE reviews, and it only fuels this issue even more.

DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT VISIT THESE RESORTS! They are scammers. I have trying to get a refund for over 2 years. I have transferred, hung up on, re-directed on so many levels it is NOT funny. Have spoken to So many, emailed so many, filled out forms, in english & spanish. and NOTHING!.

DO not NOT become member either. I didn't thank goodness, but if you do, they MIGHT call you back. That is disgraceful and the poorest level of customer service.

I have reached out to everyone on all levels. and NOTHING.. I get an email back from an Anna Barahona, who basically tells me that I have to give her MORE information that i've already given, but can't help me. So why email me? She says she's a Customer Service Manager? To what? Not my case. So who else!

I've reached out to Jessica Domene, Maricarmen Galaz, Ron Russell, Antonio Camacho... Exchange manager like Luis Nava, who ran me in circles for 6 months.

Sael Garcia who was the person "Customer Service" said my refund approval (which was approved.. but not processed). then got dumped into Anna Barahona... Ridiculous.

Just refund me already and we can all move on from this nonsense! 'Go to Sirenis Hotel & Spa.. THERE you get the customer service and treatment we all PAY FOR.. get that PAY for. Here is my situation: I work in public education, my husband left me (I don't know why), I got an order of protection against him, I have four little girls, he wiped out our savings account (just over $29,000) and I need money to pay an attorney. The only thing I have to sell is my time share. (I can provide any documentation needed.)

I have been trying to get in contact with someone to help me sell my one bedroom (Sunset World Resorts). I paid it off a few years ago, all by myself. I messaged the CEO - Orlando Arroyo and a Director, Erika Garcia. No one has responded, and people at the company will not help me connect with the board of directors. They will not let me speak with anyone to ask for help. I just sent Martha Richardson, another Director, a message.

Sunset Group time share with this company are dishonest and scammers. They should be stopped from scamming. I am writing this complaint to warn every potential buyer of this horrible business and to hopefully bring total resolution to our experience. My boyfriend and I were vacationing in Playa Del Carmen we were asked to attend a no pressure quick 90-minute seminar at the Hacienda Tres Rios Resort. Promised a great lunch, free rental car, and swimming with Dolphins. They said we needed to be married or we wouldn’t qualify. So, they provided us with wedding rings so we could “pretend” to be married. We just wanted the free stuff.

The VERY high-pressured presentation took over 4 hours! It was worse than buying a new car! We were hounded by numerous high-pressure sales staff. Each elevating to the next level of “management to get the best deal. I was also told they would “buy back” or help me sale it at any time. They even had someone in the room that said they just sold another person’s timeshare to a current guest, another ploy to gain our trust.

I knew I had made a terrible decision, but I paid the entire amount I financed with them and 5 years of Biennial fees (which go up yearly). I requested a buy back, as I was told it was EASY. My request was declined, 3/9/2020 and 8/12/21. Another lie from this company. The cruise, the other things I purchased were all lies. I just want them to do the right thing.

My wife and I went to a sales presentation at La Hacienda Tres Rios on March 2 and 4, 2022 with the salesman Erick and manager Mr. Chavez. Mr Chavez and Erick offered us 4 weeks a year for the first 5 years all inclusive and 8 weeks after the 5 years. Mr. Chavez and Erick drew up a sales contract hand written and My wife and I asked if their was any other fees besides the $1,200 maintenance fee everyone other year and they said no. Next my wife and I read the hand written contract and it did not state any other fees or charges and we doubled checked and I told Erick, I keep verifying cause I’m only able to afford $102,000 total and the maintenance and I cannot afford any fees or hidden costs. Erick assured me that’s all I would pay. Next we signed our contract on a electronic signature on a tablet and it was written in Spanish but Erick said the tablet is the same contact as the ruff draft we agreed upon. Also, Erick said I had to pay a $20 credit check and I later found out they charged me $159525.56 on my American Express Credit Card. Next day we had a plumbing leak in our bathroom and my wife slipped and felt on the hard tile floor. Her right arm and elbow swelled up so we had to ice it immediately. We reported it to the front desk and to our Salesperson Erick. Erick said he apologized for the incident and said he will change our contract to La Herencia upgrade for free so we resigned the contract on March 4, 2022 and again I ask him to translate the Spanish and he said it’s the same contract but nicer rooms and same costs. On our flight home my wife and I received an email from Sunset World and we read the emailed contract. This was nothing close to what we discussed during the meeting or on the handwritten contracted to discussed and agreed upon. I immediately called Erick when we got home and told him about the contract and how he scammed us and he kept saying don’t worry about it if you don’t like it I’ll get you guys some more corporate weeks and get you guys some extra vip rewards. I told Erick this is a fraudulent contract and I want to terminate my contract! Erick said he’ll talk to his boss and he’ll get back to me. Since I requested to Terminate my contract on March 5, 2022 the Salesman Erick, another Salesman Jose and another Manager named Mr. Villavicencio keep calling me and refusing to cancel my contact and threatening me legal actions. Pleas help me terminate my fraudulent contract and reimburse my American Express Charges. Thank you.

We booked a trip with Sunset World and we unfortunately had to cancel due to a death in the family, we were told by the membership representative Francisco that we would be refunded our money since we had canceled within the permitted time frame,; however it would take longer than usual due to COVID, we understood; however over a year later we still have not received our refund, we called and Francisco said he forgot to tell us but we needed to complete a form, we were initially sent another customers form with their personal financial information on it. We advised them of this error and they then sent a blank form which we completed and sent back. We were advised the funds would be deposited within 5-7 days, after a month still no refund so we called and were given the run around, we were told we would need to speak to an Ingrid Hernandez, I sent her several emails and she never responded, I called and they said she was always unavailable. It has been going on 2 years and we still have not received a refund, we don't want to spend the money to hire an attorney but if we aren't refunded our money we will have to seek legal assistance to resolve this matter.

It was good talking to you and getting some clarification on some questions we had about our special marketing program. Thank you for inviting us to join with you on what sounds to be a very exciting program. Here is in general what we understand. Let us know if we are off on some of the programs.

First we have four registered and four VIP weeks as well as 23 corporate weeks. We will be unable to use only one regular week and seven international weeks for three years. We only pay one maintenance fee per year, except in year five and then an extra one.

We are giving you the 23 corporate weeks through AirB&B which will be rented for about $1,000 a week. You will set this up. AirB&B will give us the money whether they rent the week or not. This money goes into our Share Account.

Then we give you our seven weeks we are not going to use. This will be four people for seven weeks at $600 a week for a total of $16,800. This also goes into our Share account.

In July or August we will see the first $100,000 from the #27 IMO. Hopefully shortly after that the second $100,000 will come in from the #74 IMO. How will this money be paid to us?

This Share account can be used to pay for all travel expenses, our yearly maintenance and all inclusive fees and the Registry Collection after our membership expires in two years.

In 60-90 days we will see everything set up and we can look at locations and costs that are available to us. We will find out who our concierge is and be able to start to work with her/him.

I have enclosed some communications between your organization and Lisa and myself. We feel your representatives in Mexico totally misrepresented the program we bought on our last trip. Our understanding was we needed to sign the contract to put in place the program your representative, Jack Foster presented to us in your sales room. Both your financial and a general manager were witness to this program.

We are asking you to put the program outlined in the Jack Foster letter in place for us or refund the money we paid to enter into this agreement. Because of the way your people use past contracts when upgrading, (we show #2011A for $76,004 in May 2016, #905 in January 2017 for $124, 572 and #1143 in January 2020 for $176,903. We also gave up two of our time shares to be added to this total investment), we are not certain what this really cost us. We are only looking at a refund of what we paid out that day in cash that day, a total of $44,148.55 if you can’t honor the program outlined

The relationship we have had with Tres Rios is positive and we enjoy our trips to your resorts. If this program can’t be put in place as outlined, it would appear to us this would be one of those “Mexican scams” we have been cautioned not to fall victim to. I can’t believe your organization would be involved in anything like this and feel certain you can resolve this for us. Just saying if it was not in the contract, it was not part of the program, does not work for this.

My name is Rubelyn. My friend and I purchased this membership in May, 2021. And I just realized we made terrible mistake few months after we got back here in the US! I want aIl the people know. That this company has full of lies! Specially their sales representative! These people are certified lier, certified scammer, and certified fraud! They are suchhhhh a lier people! My name is Agapio Almedilla. My wife Rosario and I signed up for a timeshare with Club Sunset. Our contract number with the company on June 5, 2016 is [protected]), we were told that if we are unable to use our timeshare within 5 years, they will return $45, 000 to us. However, it has been 5 years, and we were not given what we were promised. We are unable to reach anybody who was helping us that day. We were mislead in the agreements because we were told it would be discounted from the total amount of which we weren't even told at all. We pay $743.74 every year for the past 5 years and we are done paying for it. We don't want to sell, we don't want to do anything except cancel everything.

We need to cancel this timeshare immediately and would like our money back. We have been paying maintenance every year for 5 years over something we haven't even used once.

However, COVID came and our country's borders were closed for almost a year.

Recently someone call to say that I had to pay another $199.00 US in order to push back my travel dates. Although our borders have now reopened, we do no wish to travel as yet.
To me this is unfair, My husband is not working and I am unable to make this payment, if I do not make this payment I will be losing my hard earned money which i think is totally unfair.
Provisions should have been put in place for persons to be allowed to push back their travel dates due to COVID.

I will be taking this to consumer affairs.

We book with them through a share promotion. We had a 90 minute meeting which they have salesperson sale you a membership which is all lies about. They didn't accept a no as an answer I was tired and my youngest son was fussy and tired. My husband and I didn't know anything about what a timeshare was or what kind of contract this was all about. We decided to become members and it was all lies. I am very frustrated right now because its not right that they tell you lies to get you to buy and get your money. There's no way to cancel and it seems frustrating since you are not aware that there's no way to cancel it. I'm super stress and upset of all the money that s going to waste. And for the unprofessional that this people are by getting you to be part of something that's not even worth what you are paying for and are stuck with them no matter what.

My wife and myself where on our honeymoon in march 2020, just as covid 19 hit. we where give a intense briefing on their product membership, with the promise that we could cancel membership at anytime in the future. SO we gave them $500.00 which they said we could have a week at their hacienda resort in rios cancun, if we canceled. After returning to the USA we decided to cancel this since after months we had not received any information about our membership which they said would be in the mail by the time we got home. We tried several times telling them this and that we wished to cancel. To this date over a year later we have received continuel email threating lawsuits, and billings for more money. We where unaware of the nature of this membership being a rip off as we have now learned after searching. Please advise

I happily signed an agreement in November of 2020 for the following.
2 free 7-day vacations at one of their affiliated resorts in Mexico or the caribbean.
10 trips (1 per year for 10 years)
Unlimited access to discounted vacations ($399 or less)
1 trip to a mexican theme park.
When I call to book my first free trip, after receiving my contract via email after a 21 day wait, they told me that I was hearing things. They don't give out free vacations. I literally only signed up because of that. I asked repeatedly for confirmation that they were really free, and not something else. I got the personal phone numbers of they sales people to contact via Whatsapp. The contract they sent me is not the contract I agree to. They sent me a contract with both my name and two other people's names and all of their contact and financial information. My signature and initials is on every page of this document I don't fully recognize. Where is the information about my trips, where is the information about the unlimited trips? All of that is not on the contract, but was on the original document that I signed. They have committed fraud by forging my signature of all these documents.

I am a single woman in my later years, I have been trying for years to "sell" my time share package to no avail. Obviously this is a complete sham, I am curious if anyone has filed a class action suit against Sunset World/Group ? After reading all of the years of complaints it is clear that there are more than enough complainants to file a successful suit.
