Real Insurance life insurance "completely misleading"

I'm 64. In October 2008 I was reasonably fit and healthy, I decided to take out a $100, 000 Life Insurance policy with Real Insurance. Over the phone, as they recorded our conversation, the sales person quoted me fortnightly premiums of $17.42 with no mention what so ever of it ever going up. Friendly sales pitch, it all sounded great. I told him I was a pensioner on a budget, I could afford these premiums. So I signed up with Real Insurance. When I signed up I had a clear conscious I'd answered all his personal questions regarding my health honestly and sincerely. I trusted him, I expected the same honesty, and sincerity in return about the policy disclosers because I don't read, or write too well. A short time later I found out this Real salesman wasn't very truthful after all. He failed to disclose a lot about my policy up front, and I strongly feel it was purposely done. First thing to happen, the premiums started to escalate. I complained, but was told " that's your problem, If you don't like it, cancel your policy." I'm paying $97 fortnightly now and I'm still complaining to Real about the escalating premiums. My account gets overdrawn often. I then applied for legal aid, and my acting solicitor and I laid valid complaints about Reals unethical behaviour with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority who looked into my complaints. It didn't take them long, but sadly they found in favour of Real Insurance on most of my valid complaints. When I was told of the content of Reals reply to my complaints, I thought it highly probable that Real Insurance weren't very truthful to my acting solicitor, or the AFCA. However my solicitor did find real to be in breach of failing to give sufficient notice of premium increases each year for the balance of 90 days not notified.. If this has happened to me, how many other Insurance policy holders are they doing this too? It could come to thousands of dollars owing to Insurance policy holders everywhere world wide, How many days notice have you been getting before your premiums have increase?... I got bad news about 5 days ago. I now have advanced prostate cancer which my Doctor's said is terminal, So I'm now in the process of claiming on my 2008 Real life Insurance policy for terminal illness.. I've only asked Real Insurance for the claim forms to be sent out so far, and I asked a few questions. Already they are starting to show their true colours now that I'm looking at lodging a claim against them.. They have indicated that their looking at getting out of paying me.. ( Part 2 is to follow very soon, if you would like to read it and follow my journey keep an eye on this site if the will let me continue..) Thankyou Eric 6/8/19

Real Insurance Customer service

Real insurance is the worst company to deal with . I became their customer 3 years ago, they were so helpful and friendly.. After 1.5 year I have changed address, phoned them up and after 45 minute waiting I discovered that I was quoted wrongly ( that means that if I was lodging a claim, it would have been rejected, for their fault!) so of course with the "right" home content policy my premium has increased. After 6 months I moved back to my original address and guess what? My home content insurance has increased of 18$ a month and my car insurance ( parked in the same spot when it was when originally quoted has increased as well! Beside, I ve been offered a year free road assistance without being aware of it! I don't want to mention the waste of time when ringing them, 40-50 minutes wait, that is why I waited 1 year before wanting to cancell both of my policies. Finally I did ring them before on the 30th of the month ( before my monthly payment was due to be debited and on that day no one was available to talk as they were on training.. I left a message and rang them up again on Monday at 8am, as the officer from the emergency team I left a message with, advised to do so to avoid getting the payment withdrawn from my bank account. After waiting 30 minutes, I finally spoken to a " competent" officer and she tried to give me the fault on why didn't ring earlier? Extremely rude, not manners and apparently they don't do refunds but they will give me benefit of the doubts and will probably in 2 weeks on more refund me.Real insurance is easy in getting your money but then it forgets about its customers! Worst experience in years!

Real Insurance Car Insurance

I am writing to warn everyone that with real insurance be aware that you will have to pay the excess fee, even if the accident is not your fault. I was involved in an accident in July 08, the other driver was completely at fault - the police attended the accident and wrote up a police report. In order to get my car back I HAD to pay the $1000 excess, which I was told that they would refund when they received the police report. After may phone calls and all the excuses under the sun, I finally received my excess back in Apr 09, only after I rang the insurance ombudsman.

I am writing to tell everyone about the service at real insurance. Be aware that you will have VERY incompetant, uncaring, blunt and useless service from these people, and the damage was not my fault. My car was maliciously damaged at a railway station. I paid the excess of $1000. The policy says I do not have to pay the excess if they have the offenders name & contact details. The police caught and convicted and adult male. So far I have about 10 emails from the policeman ... and today, after may phone calls and forwarding the policemans emails to real insurance I have received my first email from real insurance that said
"Good afternoon,
As per request the below summary is in point form for a more transparent understanding with the current status of you claim.
-We are in the process of applying for the police report in order to retrieve the adult offenders details and seek recovery.
-As per email below dated Sunday, February 27, 2011 8:44 AM sergeant team leader has applied for your excess.
- AAA smash repairs have confirmed repairs are due to commence on the 4/4/2011 – repair invoice will come direct to Real Insurance.
Please advise if you need any further clarification.
Thank you

Mind you I emailed the manager this morning asking what is happening. A young lady phoned me with Insurance and Legal jargon that I had no idea what she was on about so I said email me so I can sit and see what you are telling me. Also, it consisted of two different coloured inks and 2 different fonts. This is a so-called professional company. What a joke.
And from what I have read here on this blog, it seems to confirm my thoughts that it may be a long, unneccesary, stupid before I see my $1000.

Oh and now I see Magna's and yes I may just tell you all about this shabby service too ...

Hello,

My name is Magda and I work at Real Insurance. I just came across this post so I apologise for not responding earlier.

I'm quite concerned to hear this negative feedback of my company. Having worked at Real Insurance for over 3 years, I must say that I'm quite proud of my coworkers and would never call any of them "incompetent." In fact, we get many customer compliments each day. It sounds like you don't share my view, however.

Is it possible for you to contact me to let me know what gives you this negative impression of us so that we can investigate and address your concerns? I'd really like to help, but I can only do that if I know more. I encourage you to use our feedback form to contact me directly http://www.realinsurance.com.au/About/TellUsWhatYouThink.aspx. I would really appreciate your help.

If anyone else comes across this review and would like to share any of their thoughts with us, please do so via this link http://www.realinsurance.com.au/About/TellUsWhatYouThink.aspx. The only way that we can address anyone's concerns is if we hear about them.

I really appreciate your feedback! Thank you for your help!

I know for a fact that REAL insurance's policy is to make sure that their claims are kept within a range. Their staff are incompetent and they are about bullying- whether it be their customer or a third party. What they offer at time of sale- or policy inception is far from what they deliver in the end... Believe me... avoid Real
