pac promos Trickery and Lies

I can't believe I fell for their trick and on my first day of college :( I guess I'm what they call a "prime target" since I know hardly anyone or where I was going for most of the day.

When I was approached by this girl who complimented my necklace, I thought I made my first friend and she even said that I should look her up on Facebook even before she told me about the package. When I got home several hours later, I realized that I'd be paying $20 per month, rather than just $20 for 5 months, like she explained, so I Facebook messaged her to tell her to stop the transaction since I had just seen her the day before and that I hadn't used anything. It turns out obviously, she's a scammer for Pac Promos and get this, her goal is to become an actress. Well I guess it worked because she definitely fooled me into believing she actually cared about what a college freshman goes through on her first big day. I let my guard down for one day and I end up worried, frustrated, panicked, and scared all because I thought I was doing a nice gesture for my new "friend" by helping her get promoted with simply $20. I was in for a harsh awakening just hours later :( Now it's 1:30AM and I'm waiting for it to be 7AM so that I can call my bank and hopefully sort this whole mess out.

For those that were affected, I'm sorry you were all tricked by their so-called package deal because no one should ever feel this way. I just learned that stepping into the real world can be more brutal than I'd ever imagine it to be.

Pac promos, is a rip off they said you only have to pay $20 for five months and get 3 free visits for free. Each time I went for my free visit they charged me $40, the full price I would have paid in any other hair salon without the coupon. After the five moths they still keep charging customers for the service. It’s hard to reach any representatives but I was able to get a hold of one, her phone number is [protected]..

pac promos was the worst decision ever! i cancelled three months ago and just received a call saying that i haven't been paying and they were going to ruin my credit. i cancelled my debit so they couldn't charge me because i had a feeling that they would continue charging me after i cancelled. that is exactly what they are trying to do. they do anything they can to get money out of you. i have rarely heard anything good about them. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. they will take your money.

I was just wondering, what happened after you canceled? Did they end up actually sending you to collections?

A year ago, PAC PROMOS INC representative lady lied to me about how the payment plan works. She told me that she will need my credit or debit card to get my information. I told her that basically I'm a college student who is broke and that I cannot pay for anything like this right now. She said that I did not have to worry since they will start to charge me when I actually use the hair products at the salon. I said that's good and I gave her my debit card information. I felt kind of weird about giving her that type of information so after school I went online to research if this company was a scam. I did not see that much information about them last year but I read my contract with them and it said that I will have to pay 19.95 for 5 months. If I wanted to cancel, then I will have to wait after the 5 months to contact them about canceling my services with them. So therefore, I did some more research to see if I can find a way to cancel it right away. I live in California and I saw this statement online that states: "CALIFORNIA LAW STATES THAT THERE IS A 72 HOUR COOLING OFF PERIOD SO IT IS BY LAW THAT YOU NEED TO ACCEPT MY CANCELLATION". I send this company an email stating that and the lady answered me back right away and said that their manager has approved my cancellation and that all I have to do is mail in my promo package along with my 50% off pass to their place. After I did all of that, they have never taken any money off of my account. Perhaps if you live in California you can use that statement on them to cancel if you contact them before 72 hours. If you live in another state, then it's best to check how your state will handle a situation like that. I learned that I should read any contract whether if it's big or small before signing anything since sales people lie just to help themselves out.

I totally have to agree with you, just yesterday this pretty blond girl approached me complimenting my hair. She was really nice and drove me into becoming a member I just gave in easily and fell as well. I even told her that i would think about it and if i wanted to join i would give her a call or not. But what was really weird is that she mentioned it was "legit" but there was no contact information where i could reach her or the company. Well my [censored] signed the cotract and i could tell she was in a rush so that i wouldnt reconsider my decision the minute i signed the dams contract and as she walked away i never seen her again in campus approaching other females. I just now send an email to the customer service hopefully they will stop the transaction . I just dont get how they are willing to target all of us and trick us into this crap. This makes me feel so upset and i should of known better and researched this. So i fell into another scam, now twice well the next time a pretty girl approaches me with a compliment and tries to lure me into this i will tell her to "[censor] off"...=

Well my experience with them was very different. My friend gave me my pac promos membership and old me how to use it, I called up a few places that didn't use the promo any longer, but then I found one that did. I milked it for all it was worth!
However, I was disappointed once I had finally used my 50% off card for the first time and my stylist told me that I had to give her my card because it was only a one time deal thing. I was very hurt from that!
But all the things that I had got done there for dirt cheap-it was worth it.
I definately know I was blessed to not have to worry about canceling.
I hope you all come out on top of them.

I was approached at SDSU by some guy when I was waiting for my friend. At first I thought he was trying to hit on me, ew. He started talking about whatever the heck pac promos offers and I saw my friend approaching so I was just like ya ya get me out of here. He told me I would be charged 20 dollars for a total of three months and that was ALL! $60 bucks honestly didn't sound that bad to me for cut and color for three months. Too bad he was a filthy liar and I'm still getting charged 7 months later, but I didn't realize it until today. The salons that are listed for the san diego area, half of them are in escondido and I would never drive to that area for my hair. The one that I tried down here, she was a nice lady but it was NOT a salon it was like...a tiny room in some sort of run down apartment building, really odd actually. She gave me a haircut and literally like 4 highlights and she still charged me 50 bucks.
Let's see how difficult it will be to cancel these dirty scammers.

that was mean about the spelling, but still, anyone who is using this company and likes it, will only continue liking it until cancellation. they will continue charging your account and calling until you give in a give them more money. using the company for a month or two is not credible whether you like them or not.

pac promos False advertisement/solicitating

I was approached at work by these people Jeremy and a couple girls representing pac promos and it sounded interesting, so I decided to "give it a try." Unfortunately, it was not disclosed to me that it was a 5-month contract, so unknowingly, I decided that 19.95 wasn't a bad price to pay.
These people take advantage of students looking for a bargain and should be arrested next time they are caught on campus or soliciting in a working environment. I strongly discourage people from joining.

I'm so embarrassed I fell for it! Ugh I'm an idiot!... Well it happened this afternoon (ASU) and as soon as I walked away I had a bad feeling, so I googled PacPromos and, sure enough, that ugly word SCAM was all over the screen. Anyway, in AZ (I believe all states) everyone has 3 days to back out of ANY contract (*** VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT, IF YOU ACT FAST, YOU CAN GET OUT OF CONTRACTS IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND**) so I'm going to cancel my card and ignore any of their calls; OR, answer and tell "Leah" how inappropriate it is to take advantage of students... I don't think that these type of people should be on campuses, even if it is clearly explained, it's still like impossible to think over the situation and and make a good decision with thousands of other people all around... I like having student orgs stuff out on the lawns and whatever kinda stuff they're selling or trying to raise, but really, businesses- especially shady ones- have no place on a campus...

I'm not sure how often reps from Pac Promo read these, but: I understand that working for that company is your source of income- but if you are having to neutralize these comments, you are getting taken advantage of as well- this job is too pathetic for any person to do. You go to colleges where people are naive (, or, under the circumstances of talking business in crowded, busy places, act naive) and talk them into (you are very good at that, I'll give you that!) what seems like a really good deal, but there is no chance to walk away, research/think about it, and come back to sign up.. of course, you know that people would not return to give them their credit card if they jumped online and read about how none of the salons would make appts. and how hard and intimidating it is to cancel, and the hassle of having to wait for a new card and blhab blah blah, and worrying about collection agencies ((***NOTE*** IN THESE CASES COMPANIES LIKE PACPROMO HAVE MORE TO LOSE TRYING TO TURN SOMETHING/SOMEONE OVER TO COLLECTIONS, THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PERSONNAL, DON'T WORRY ABOUT PAYING THEM OR BEING HASSLED BY SOMEONE ELSE TO PAY THEM***))... So seriously, you are not nice people to prey on girls on campuses. you should be ashamed of yourselves. Between classes is not a good time for business and though all your victims willingly gave you their cards, the circumstances were on your side.. There are just some things while at school people shouldn't have to do: keep your guard up from salespeople and try to spot a sales hustle.. You're damaging all the girls you've sold your "package" to. I'm so upset with myself... So be careful.

Damn I wish I would have looked up PacPromos and saw the word SCAM before I signed up. The salon closest to me (the rest of them were really far) was a run down hole in the wall in a questionable part of town. The stylist was late, didn't speak any english, and acted as if she was inconvenienced by the whole thing. If anyone sees PacPromos salespeople, run the other way!

I was also approached by Jeremy, but maybe that's the name Pac Promos encourages all of their male soliciters to use. So I was approached by "Jeremy" and a small asian chick. They said that they were weeding out the pretty girls on campus and I was a perfect candidate for the promotion they were promoting. They merely stated that I would receive three free visits followed by half off discounts whenever I went in afterward. Then he asked for my credit card & my signature, so that's when I told him to slow down, and i took the contract from him and read the "fine print" where I noticed the $29.99/mo fee. Essentially, I told him and the asian chick to shove it and from then on have been warning the unsuspecting females on campus. Please spread the word about these WORMS!

you guys are effing ridiculous. okay, listen, YOU NEED TO ASK QUESTIONS before you give out your credit card. AND read the agreement in front of them so you KNO'W everything is legit. if you guys think about it, the package is pretty GREAT deal. for girls who love to get their hair done pretty often-ish, to be able to pay for a shampoo, cut, blow out AND a style for FREE is pretty damn awesome. The $20 a month is TOTALLY doable if you guys get like a part time job and don't spend your money on DUMB stuff. as a girl who actually likes to get her hair done and get pampered, this deal definitely appealled to me. i've been able to manage it and the salons i've gone have honored the package and have done AMAZING work. if you didn't ask questions or weren't into the idea in the first place, then that's your fault. i love my package and i continue to use it. 50% off for future vists? hell ya! hope you guys are jealous! good luck at supercuts!

Yes this pacpromos [censor] is a total scam! I couldn't even make a goddamn appointment. When I finally got one I drove all the way there (the place is far as hell) and the stylist wasn't even there... I didn't receive a call back at all! I am telling everyone I know at campus to ignore these people, warn campus security and also post bulletins at school saying pacpromos is total utter [censor]. I wrote to them asking for a refund and I am going to the bank tomorrow. I don't care how but I am getting my money back and I will do everything I can to warn people about this. I'll even take this to a friend lawyer of mine if i need to. Even if you were ok with paying, they did not do their part of the contract, except for the part of taking your money! Not to mention they are doing false advertising. Even more, other young people preying on college students is so [censor]ing low, but they obviously don't give a [censor] as long as they can get quick money out of it.
And you pacpromos reps posting how wonderful this scam is (i guess it is if you are getting paid), shame on you. Get a real job, stop lying and stealing money from students. As if the ridiculously high prices of text books in bookstores weren't enough (its better to buy online from reputable sites).
I learned my lesson... run away from ANYONE approaching you with some "fabulous" offer or membership, no matter how nice and friendly these [censor]s seem. I don't think serious businesses do [censor] like that anyway... Maybe they do but I don't want to find out anymore.

I am also from san jose and got approached by Josef. He did not explain that my card will be charged for the next 5 months. I immediately went to my bank and cancelled my card. Josef then called me five days after saying that if i had another card because it did not go through. I said I didnt and threatened to call a collection agency on me. My friend called the guy back threatening to sue and he said that its fine, she can cancel and that they never threaten to call a collection agency. From wat ive heard, they dont have a collection agency and it is a complete scam. I recently just got a call from another representative saying that I have to pay or else i will be put in collection. I am just gonna ignore them, and if there is a collection agency then ill wait until i recieve a letter in the mail. If a pac promos representative ever comes up to me again, I am cuss them out.

To all the people who think that this pacpromos crap is legit, you all need to GET A CLUE. c'mon the first thing you see when you type it into Google is SCAM! This [censor]in [censor] Jeremie came to my school and tried to butter me up telling me that i looks so pretty blah blah blah. and yes i fell for this deal. but he DID NOT TELL ME that there was a 19.95 fee for five months PER MONTH. He straight up lied to me, and all he kept saying was free free free visits and all this [censor]. i was soooooooo pissed! i had to call my bank, cancel my account, and have them send me a new debit card with a new card number and everything. After i called the Campus Police and reported him. Those sons of [censor]es need to be arrested, especially Jeremie. the next time i see him on my campus i am going to cuss his [censor] out. He said that he's going to be in San Jose the next few weeks and in the summer, so if anyone would like to join me for this [censor] beating you are welcome to. and again to the people who keep saying "this is the best thing that ever happened to me! i saved so much money, its so legit." you all need to shut the [censor] up because you either work for pacpromos or you're just straight up stupid. This is a scam scam scam scam!

I was approached the other day and I had no idea what they were up to as I am on crutches and I was fooled into signing up and I just read the 3 day agreement termination thing and I saw that the " sales agent" had put the wrong date. What I'm wonderig is if that was done on purpose so I couldn't drop this scam.

F
F
Former Sales Representative
Woodland Hills, US
Jun 30, 2011 7:46 pm EDT

I am a former sales rep for Pac Promos, which has since changed its name to Salon Save. If someone from Salon Save says they're not affiliated with Pac Promos, it's a lie. The company was created and is still run by Ted Morgan. His right-hand man is Blas Fernandez. The company goes to various college campuses and promotes to girls. The salons listed in the package all emailed Salon Save to be included on the list. They are checked out and must meet certain criteria before the can be added. They have also signed agreements to honor the deal in the package. The problem occurs when the manager of a salon doesn't inform the workers that this package exists. Girls call for their appointments and are told by the worker that the salon has no knowledge of this. If Salon Save learns that a salon is in breach of their agreement, that salon will be removed from the package.
The company posts on Craigslist all the time, and 90% of its employees are actors/musicians who answered the ad that states something along the lines of PERFECT JOB FOR ACTORS, MAKE $1000/WEEK, PAID WEEKLY. They have interviews everyday with new hires because the turn around is so high. Most people don't last 2 weeks. It's a commission only job, and for each package sold, the sales rep gets $40. There are also competitions held daily like 'First to 3 packages get's a $50 bonus'. The money is real, but it's not a guarantee, which is why many of the sales reps have to leave.
There are some LIES that reps are told to say.
Lie #1: "We are picking 10 girls to represent our salons." -No, we can sell to as many as we want and are told to approach every single girl, no matter their look.
Lie #2: "I love your hair/style." -Most times, we don't care how you look but are trying to rope you into something you'll like.
Lie #3: "I'm normally not allowed to give you this 2 for 1 deal." - We can give anyone a 2 for 1 deal, but it's only a last resort if it looks like you're going to say no. If you want this package, act like you don't and you'll maybe get offered a second one for free.
Other weird things:
1. We're not allowed to be soliciting on campus grounds and if security asks us to leave we must go, so we try to stay out of sight of security. No job should have you doing illegal activity, but this one does.
2. If any of them tell you they're a student at that campus, ask to see their ID. That's a lie to make you feel more comfortable, but we're not instructed to say that. A lot of sales reps overdo the exaggerations to make you feel safe, but veer too far away from the 2 page script we're taught to say.
3. If a rep ever approaches you and has 1 or 2 extra people with them, nodding their heads and smiling, those are trainees.
4. Most all sales reps have never been to a salon on the list, and don't know the stylists or what the place looks like. The one in Beverly Hills is a dumpy hole-in-the-wall place run by a foreign dude named Andre. If your hair is longer than your shoulders, he charges extra for free services.
5. There are only a couple salons that will cater to ethnic hair. As listed on the back of the package, extensions may not be part of the 50% off deal. If you are ethnic and told you can go anywhere on the list, you can't.
There is fierce competition between reps. Not only are there the daily competitions, but the top 8 sales people each quarter get huge prizes, like cruises to Mexico, blu-ray players, $50 gift cards to restaurants, and more.

Bottom line: The company IS real, the services offered ARE legit, but there's a lot of sketchiness surrounding it. The company is run incredibly unprofessionally, with no background checks on its sales reps. You can cancel the package after 5 months, but must give a 30-day notice through the website at www.salonsave.com. If you are halfway through your 5th month and want to cancel, guess what? You're paying for that 6th month before it will be cancelled. Read the back of that package before buying. We are taught not to show you the back, and that's where the most useful info is. Hope this helps.

Yea, same thing is happening to me now. I just cancelled my card and am trying to file a claim with Bank of America. They charged for the complimentary haircut. Unbelievable they would just take money away from innocent people. What a f*&@%# up company. I hope they get what they deserve. I have the girls cell phone, she was urging me to sign up and gave me her number so I could call to switch my cards since I didn't have the right one with me, so here her number is if any of you want to call her and give her a piece of your mind, her name is Romit, [protected], it's her cell. She is one of the disgusting employees trying to take money out of people pockets who are just trying to save in the first place.

I was approached just today at my school and I fell for their so called "great deal." I started to second guess my decision when I got home from school, later that day, so I went online to check reviews and such on them (which I should've done in the first place). I saw all the complaints and problems people had with them. So, I decided to try and cancel my membership.

I actually had success with the cancellation of my Pac Promos membership. When I called the number I got from the BBB site [protected]), the associate that answered was actually helpful and told me what I needed to include in my email (she was a bit rude though). I actually already pre-wrote an email and what she told me to include, I already had included, so I sent it and they actually emailed back the same day. So, I guess, this only applies to people who have just purchased their package, but to all you others, I'm really sorry. :(

Here's what to include in your cancellation email: Your name, Customer id#, date of initial sign up, name of your sales rep, and also be sure to include that you are canceling within the 3-day period or include the quote above somehow
(Ex. I understand that I have not been a member for 5 months yet, but in the contract, it states in paragraph 4, lines 4-5, "Customer may cancel this transaction at any time prior to midnight of the third business day after the date of this agreement.")
I also included a reason for canceling as well. Obviously, don't say "because I realized it was a scam." Just make up some BS reason (I used: "I realized I cannot afford the membership").

After you sent the email, hopefully you'll get an email back saying that they have reviewed your email and have approved your cancellation and that you just need to send back your promo packages to the address they provide (which is the same as the one on the BBB site, so it checks out) and they will void your contract.

Still being a little skeptical of whether or not my membership would actually get cancelled, before I received my email from Pac Promos, I also called my credit card company to cancel my credit card and send me a new one, as most people here have suggested to do. I suggest this as well, because it is still the only GUARANTEED way that you won't get charged.

Sorry this was a tad wordy, but I hope it helps! :)

My name is Griselda and i was approached on campus by a big black guy named Jeremy who said it would only be 20 dollars. Not only did he lied but when i went online i saw all this crap written about them. Untop of that i still decided to call the salons and half of them were not even participating anymore and the salons that were where charging me an extra 20 dollars.

I had the worst experience with pac promos. I agreed to the contract in September of 2009 and I emailed them to cancel at the end of February 2010, which would have been the end of my 5 month contract. Apparently since I did not receive a confirmation email, I did not get canceled. (Which I believe is a part of their scam.) I have been getting charged $20 a month ever since and am deliberately trying to dispute all charges made to my account. Their only counter argument is that "you signed a contract" and my bank will not do anything to override a contract.

Secondly, the salons I go to that are listed on their website do not accept pac promos at all. On the pamphlet I received when I signed up it says COMPLIMENTARY hair cuts, shampoo, dye, etc etc. They were trying to charge me $100 to complete the first visit. Their excuse is that "salons charge by the length of your hair" MY HAIR IS A BOB CUT AND HAS BEEN A BOB CUT FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS!

Anyway, I hated this promotion, hoax, scam whatever you wish to call it. Do not give them the time of day! As a college student, $20 every month goes a long way.

Okay so I got suckered into this whole mess and the sales lady specifically told me that I was going to pay $19.95 for five months not every month. I was feeling worried after i had given out my debit card so I immediately looked up the company and saw all the negative reviews and that the company was a scam. I went to my bank and reported my card lost that same day. I know they haven't charged me because I received a call saying my card bounced. My only concern is that for all of you who canceled your card or reported it lost. Has this company sent you to collections. Or is it as of now just empty threats? I have already emailed the company and I'm waiting to hear back because just in case you guys don't know if your receipt does not state the right you have to cancel within three days its not legit and therefore you can cancel anytime. I might be wrong about that but I doubt it. Anyways help!
