National Tire & Battery [NTB] Tire rotation turns into nightmare!

I’vew been going to NTB for years now. The one in Gastonia, NC wasn’t available, so I went to Charlotte (Davis Lake), NC. I went for a tire rotation and now my car iis trash! Upon taking a nut off the front drivers side, it stripped the threads and caused NTB for have to install another wheel hub. To say the least, they blamed it on my previous mechanic, but how? I have extensive damage to my rim and tire. I pick it up last night, after they fixed it, and the brakes went out, not even 10 mins from their shop. I am highly pissed, that they didn’t care about my life. I could have died from this. How can mechanics be so mad, that they want to KILL yiu. I do n not understand this. I want to sue the whole company. This is negligence at its finest. I said the whole time they had my car, they where going to do something to it, since the work was free.. Guess what, they did. How sick! They tried to get me to leave their shop the moment the mechanic messed up my car. They tried several times to get me to leave with 3 lug nuts and extensive damage to my car. They don’t care. I had to make them fix it by threatening them. These are ok men. They have no respect for women and their cars. I will be taking action.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Tire sensors repair

I made an appointment at store #4532 on Tuesday. When I arrived on today March 13, 2024, Bill welcoming me but could not find my earlier reservation from the day before. He added, I can still take you in now and repair your vehicle problem. While my vehicle was being repaired, Bill would come by to explain what the problem was going on with my tire sensors. Bill was very helpful throughout the service. Thank you, Bill.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Alignment

I had new tires put on and an alignment. They went ahead with the service without informing me that there are no camber adjustments for my van. When talking to the man you did the work and the man in the front, they did not seem to be knowledgeable of how to explain anything or what actually needs to happen o fix the camber for the alignment. After frustration since heather could really give me an accurate description of what was going on what a camber adjust even does to the wheels, I left. I talked to another location NTB that was nearby. When I told him the make and model of my vehicle, he immediately told me that they can’t do that at a NTB. He said it either needs to be done at a Chrysler dealership or a body shop to fix the camber alignment. I wish that was something I would have known before the service because I would have taken it somewhere else that could do the alignment fully.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] I was sold a tire I did not need

While traveling from florida to tennessee, my dashboard indicated low tire pressure.

I pulled into a ntb service center. The agent checked one tire, said it was bad, ane needed to be replace. We paid $316.22 for a new tire.

When I got back to my house in florida, I took the tire I was told was bad, I took it to firestone, where I do all my tire needs. The firestone agent put the tire in water. There was no leak. He checked the rim. No leak. The agent said I was sold a tire I did not need. Cost me $340.

I want my money refunded. The date of this transaction was 2/1/2024

National Tire & Battery [NTB] These people do not care about my safety or my family's safety.

A few weeks ago, I stopped in due to hearing my front driver's brakes grinding. It wasn't very loud, but I know that whenever you hear squeaks or grinding, to take the vehicle in asap, or the repair cost can go through the roof. When I spoke to the manager, Sid, he said that my brakes were fine and no need to address at that time. Well now I'm back, due to the grinding sound becoming way worse, and not I need a whole new braking system. I am pissed, as I take my cars only to this business and specifically this location. The same manager said he believes the caliper stuck on me and they wouldn't have known that by just checking the shoes and pads. When a customer tells you that the brakes are making sounds, why wouldn't they do a note in depth investigation? Well, I could have possibly injured my family and I or another person due to the state and condition on my brakes. All of this could've been avoided had they listened to me the first time. I wonder if this was so they could get my bill up for a larger repair, versus the nominal amount for just pads? I will never be back, I will defer all friends and family from coming here or utilizing NTB, and I will tell everyone about the service I received. I have been a great customer, and I deserved better. There's no accountability here. Then I asked for an oil change when I arrived until they told me the estimate for my brakes, well they did the oil change without my consent, because I was going to take my business elsewhere. Then they told me I couldn't leave with my brakes like they were, so I had to have them serviced by them. I am livid, and can't wait to leave this horrible business and never return. DO NOT GO TO MAVIS TIRES OR NTB! THEY DO NOT HAVE INTEGRITY!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Inspection

Took vehicle to get four new tires and an inspection. Technician said that my left shock was leaking, and I needed to replace both rear shocks. NTB refused to show me the bad shock and put a rejection sticker on it. I decided to take it to a certified Toyota dealership to have them verify my shocks were bad. Come to find out, none of my shocks are bad and my truck passed inspection.

Claimed loss: $15 rejection sticker I had to pay for.

Desired outcome: refund for the rejection sticker. check qualifications of the technicians

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Steering wheel bushing

I took my Hyundai to NTB on Joppa Rd in MD. They were suppose to fix my steering wheel bushing and ended up breaking a part. The mechanic admitted it. They fixed what was broken but came across some other issues. They then took my car to Harford road where a specialized mechanic was to operate on it. He couldn’t fix it either and then they said they’d send it out to the dealer where supposedly the dealer fixed it but yet I still haven’t received my car. I asked to be compensated because I had to rent cars and take Ubers and they said they wouldn’t charge me for the work they had done. I’m baffled! Well thank you because your mechanic broke something and admitted fault and then you couldn’t return my car to me in the condition I gave it to you or better and held on to it for weeks and I’m still without my car. So I shouldn’t have to pay for anything. This is insane!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Damaged tail light

Back in September, I had some service done on my vehicle at the location in Round Rock, TX. When I picked up the vehicle after hours, I noticed my right tail light was damaged. I filed a complaint with the store, they said they would replace it, I sent emails with pictures of the damage, and have not heard from them since. I would like to be contacted as soon as possible about this. I do not feel that correspondence with the location in Round Rock will be respected and would not like to have to speak with them.

Desired outcome: I need a response and for my tail light to be replaced.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Terrible service

Abysmal customer service. Had an appointment a few weeks ago at the Lutherville store to find and fix an issue with my steering. They had it for 5 days, and said they replaced the struts yet my bill doesn't mention any strut work but new brakes were installed. The brakes were fine and did not need to be replaced. As soon as I left the place after spending over a thousand dollars my car sounded like it was about to fall apart every time I hit a bump on York Road, which is very often.

I went back to the Lutherville store for warranty work the next day and was told by the manager (the only employee there) that not a single employee scheduled showed up and that he was called in on his day off.

He turned away at least 2 customers while I was waiting, and he said that he'd call the Towson store and have them to the work under warranty.

I drove my car to the Towson store hoping my car wouldn't fall apart on the way and when I arrived, the manager (also the only employee there) had no idea I was coming and never received a call from the Lutherville manager and gave me the same story. No employees showed up and since the repair was done by the Lutherville NTB it's not his problem (actual quote).

Then I went to the Cockeysville store which actually had a few employees working and the manager there (a nice guy who was also competent) said he'd try to get my car looked at but couldn't guarantee that I'd get it back that day (it was the Friday before the Labor Day weekend).

I totally understood and let them have the weekend to work on it. When I got back from my vacation (after having to rent a car) I picked it up and it works fine.

After talking to some employees, it has become apparent that since NTB was taken over by Mavis things are rapidly declining. Mavis has cut employee wages by $7/hour and most of the certified/competent employees have quit. They no longer do background checks nor drug test their new employees.

They said that the new hires show up stoned/drunk and are not well-trained. Even the managers have had their wages cut by Mavis.

NTB stores are a toxic environment and I warn anyone considering going to any NTB location in the area to look elsewhere.

I went back due to terrible grinding noises and when I picked up my car it was no longer making the noise. Upon further investigation, it was because the "technician" wrapped shop rags secured with zip ties to stop the noise.

The manager was supposed to refund my card and as 11/2 has not done so.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Tire rebate

I purchased 4 tires with the promise of a $50 rebate. I purchased the tires at NTB and had them put them on and dispose of the old tires. NTB then gave me a single document with the date, invoice, cost, etc that I had to submit to Goodyear to get the rebate. Goodyear has now denied my claim 3 times... not sure why as all the information is on the single invoice NTB provided. Rebates are nice but the dealership should handle the paperwork... not the customer. If Goodyear needs more information than what NTB provided on the invoice then it should be highlighted well in advance of submitting the rebate.

Desired outcome: I want my $50 rebate. I have 4 cars and will never have Goodyear tires again or purchase tires from a dealership that refuses to file the paperwork for their rebates again.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Tires

I purchased 4 tires 8/23, paid $900 Sumitomo tires (sold because of the warranty) and was told fixing was free and that I should not purchase the warranty because the tires are good quality and have 50K warranty. Took my tire that is less than a year old to them and was told they can't fix it it must be replaced and charged a ridiculous amount of $237 to replace a tire that should have been under warranty.

On 6/13/2023 I bought 4 Michelin tires from your store on Watson Rd in St. Louis. I was promised a rebate in the form of a $60 gift card. 3 attempts and countless calls were frustrating and finally fruitless. I was denied my rebate on some technicality. I spent $1,000 on tires but your company decided to deny my crummy rebate. Goodbye NTB. Goodbye Michelin. The word Scam applies here.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Lying employee

Went for simple oil change, was concerned when it took 10 minutes just to enter in computer, 15 minutes just to drive it in and secure it before raising the lift. Then it went from 1 person to 3, I assume to remove filter, but the real problem is when I finally got into my car and the CHECK ENGINE light was on. I immediately told the kid I had been dealing with and he said, and I quote, "I thought I saw that when I drove it in the garage".

First of all my car is a 2006 Accura RSX Type S 6 speed which I love and maintain like a child. I have a very simple easy non cluttered dashboard and there was never a light on when I brought it to NTB.

My anger first off, I am being called a liar, secondly a reputable company would have immediately told me the minute they saw a warning light and ask if they could check it after the oil change, if they were trained correctly.

It is obvious who is the liar and trying to cover their butt by lying after the fact. I was told that they could troubleshoot for $150.00. I left after an hour and a half and immediately called their headquarters and still waiting for their regional manager Jane to call me.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Installed control arms on my Cadillac

I took my car to check the brakes and the rotors and the service guy told me I needed control arms and he recommend I get that work done first. I got the control arms installed for about 1000 dollars and when I left the shop my car was shaking and going to the right I went back to contact the service manager they check the car say they didn't notice anything I left again the car doing the same thing I have bought the car back twice they recommend I get tires I went and bought two new tires on the car and it's still shakes I took it back again a recommend that I get a front end alignment which they should have done when they put the control arms on. The guy took the two new tires put them on the back

and did the front end alignment.

I have never known no one to take two new tires and put them on the back I have been to NTW complaining over three times I would like to be reimbursed so i can take my car elsewhere

To get it fixed.

Desired outcome: Yes, I would be reimbursed to get my car fixed elsewhere.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Service/damage to vehicle

Using NTB, I selected 4 Pirelli Scorpion STR-A tires and scheduled installation and wheel alignment for 7/5/2023. As you can imagine, this was still expensive in todays world. There was nothing at all wrong with my car, just wanted to replace the tires. I then arrived at NTB on my scheduled time and day, the tires were installed but unfortunately the alignment tech was not available. So I had to reschedule for the following Monday to have the alignment completed. I also scheduled an oil change to be done on that next visit as well. I arrived for my appointment, and continued to work on my laptop while I waited. A short time later, a tech pulls my car up in front of NTB's front doors. I feel this was too soon to have completed the work ordered? The awesome lady working the desk also noticed this. She then called for the tech "Jerry". When Jerry came to the office, she asked if he had completed the alignment. Jerry said no! he was getting ready to leave for home. The Lady at the desk advised Jerry, he was the only mechanic/tech there and my alignment had already been rescheduled once. Jerry became agitated and complained, then grabbed my keys off the desk like he was swatting away a pest. Jerry then takes my car back to the service bay.

A short time later, another tech came up to the office and asked the lady at the desk to come out to the garage. When she returned, she told me there was some bad news. Two of the studs that hold the tire on were broken off during the service. Both broken studs were on each of my steer tires, one left, one right. The Other tech and the lady told me the car would be "Safe" to drive until they could get the parts and repair at no cost to me. I asked if this was really safe to drive with only four lug nuts holding each steer tire, they said yes, as I noticed Jerry leaving with his lunch box in tow. So another appointment was scheduled for Wednesday to have the studs and lug nuts replaced by NTB as they were over torqued by the tech, this is what NTB told me. However, as I started to pull away from the front door where they once again parked my car, a loud metal banging sound happened and my driver side steer tire was locking up. I stopped in the middle of NTB Lancaster, OH's driveway and went back inside to get help. The other tech on duty informed me that another stud had backed out the back of the hub and was hitting the steering knuckle. So, this car was never safe to drive after the studs were broken to begin with! NTB then was able to move my vehicle back into the service bay where it was kept overnight while they waited for the parts to come in the next day.

NTB called mid day on Tuesday and advised the repairs had been made at no cost, since NTB caused the damage and my car was now ready for pick up.

This was great news, but once the car was picked up, something was very wrong with the steering. When turning the steering wheel left or right there was a loud clunking and a noticeable vibration in the steering. I then had my car towed from Lancaster, OH to a well known auto shop in Columbus, OH. I certainly wasn't going to take my car back to NTB after all this.

After a $300.00 tow bill, parts, labor and another alignment needed after repairs, my new NTB Pirelli Scorpion STR-A tires went from $1,075.18 to $2,481.71.

Out of pocket, an additional $1,406.52! However, the store manager did provide a refund for the wheel alignment.
