Jane Pennington-Fryer smaller car for car hire - ref za861798840 - no reply from previous complaint

I submitted a complaint to yourselves and car scanner as both names were on the paperwork - car scanner have replied - Dear Jane,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

This booking is not in our system. Please, refer to Cartrawler directly.

On arrival at the Europcar collection desk we presented our paperwork only to be told that our car (a Volkswagon Polo or similar) had not been confirmed by your company. After much discussion we were provided with a Tata Bolt (vehicle group A) which left our suitcase exposed. We paid for a medium sized car so that our case wouldn't show if we were out for the day and stopping off between locations. The Tata was also manual and not automatic as specified.
The Volkswagon we ordered is a group D car and the Tata a group A- and as there is a different in price, we require a refund. The price for Group A vehicle is £338GDP and we actually paid £602GDP and consequentially request a refund of £264GDP.
We were informed that this is a recurring problem with this company and also told we would be charged a tourism levy and an airport surcharge.
To add insult to injury even though this car had only 70KM on the clock at collection, it was not powerful enough to accelerate up the hills and was spluttering and even cut out twice on the steeper slopes. Lee was driving both times and is a fully trained mechanic with 37 year's experience of driving a variety of vehicles in various situations.

I am yet to receive any reply from yourselves. I shall be taking this to small claims court if I don't not hear anything soon
