The J K Harris Company advertises that they will work with the IRS to negotiate and settle any outstanding back taxes someone owes . This company took $4500 from me and did nothing. They would not even return my phone calls. They send me collection notices saying I still owe them $1500. It is the biggest scam in this country and no one is doing anything about it. The IRS knows about their scam. The Better Business Bureau nor our government does absolutely nothing to stop these thieves from stealing from thousands of people. It is a shame that this is allowed to continue. Children have been taken to jail for stealing a piece of candy. People have been shot for breaking into a house to steal a television. Why are the thieves at the J. K. Harris Company permitted to advertise in newspapers and television commercials so they can steal money from thousands of people without any repercussions? Why can they not be stopped? More people need to do something. If the J. K. Harris Company has stolen from you, please submit a complaint to every place you can. If anyone would like to join together in a lawsuit against the J. K. Harris Company to be reimbursed the money taken from them, please notify me @ ([protected]@yahoo.com). Other people have made such efforts and have won. There are many attorneys that will take this case with no out of pocket expenses nor payment from the clients with the motive of receiving a portion of the money collected only after the lawsuit is won and payment received from the company being sued. (The attorney gets paid only if the case is won which amounts to 1/3 of all the money returned to us from J.K.Harris.) Do Not Do Nothing... DO SOMETHING! ([protected]@yahoo.com)

Beware of JK Harris

We were contacted by IRS re monies they had on my husband's account but no tax form filed. He immediately contacted ex-wife and found that for the last four years they were married she filed as "single/head of household" and destroyed all his paperwork. We were able to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that he and his ex-wife were living together and raising a family during the four years in question. The problem kept getting bigger and we contacted J. K. Harris. They said what ex-wife had done was illegal and they would help us file papers for "Doubt to Liability". Their fee was $1800.00 - paid in full. From the beginning, every time we called JKH we had been assigned a different representative. I can't tell you how many times we had to sign papers for Power of Attorney because our case was passed on so many times. After two year, we finally get someone who will supposedly handle this case - "this is the most rock solid case I have ever presented to the IRS". Our hopes were up - and the IRS penalty and interest rates were going up daily. We heard nothing - when we called to find out what was going on, we were told that we had been put on a payment plan based on our financial information. WHAT? We never gave JKH our financial information because you don't need that to file doubt to liability. We kept calling and finally were told - after we already had an answer from the IRS - that JKH had filed our papers one day late so the IRS closed the file and denied our request. In a very heated conversation with JKH, I demanded our money back because they had not completed the contract. Their response was that the contract was only that they file the Doubt to Liability forms - which they had done. The contract did not state that the forms had to be filed on time. Bottom line is that we are out the $1800.00, have tried many times to get assistance from the IRS, and are told something different each time we call. Giving a name and ID number for the IRS representatiave that you've talked to is futile...there is no way to get back to the the representative you spoke to. Bottom line is, we have been taken by JKH for $1800.00, lost hundreds of hours on the phone with JHK and IRS trying to resolve this problem, and we are still paying the IRS for a debt that is not ours.

July 7, 2007 I received a notice from the IRS that I owed $3240.00 in back taxes for the year 2005. I didn't have it so I contacted J. K. Harris to help me, since I am on Social Security and don't have that kind of money. After an initial meeting with their representative, "Frank", in Eau Claire - I was assured I qualified for "uncollectable status" because my only asset was my 1988 mobile home (which he told me they would not force me to sell) and a 1998 vehicle. My daughter paid the $850 processing fee for me.

A few weeks later I received a call from "Beth" who stated she would be handling my case. She requested every piece of paper imaginable, which I sent to her. Approximately a month later, I received another letter from "Beth" requesting another set of copies of the same thing I had sent her earlier.

October 24, 2007 I received a letter from "Beth" stating that the the case had been filed "uncollectable" and that the IRS would not be able to forcible attempt to take my property.

January 25, 2008 I received a notice that the IRS was going to levy my assets within 10 days. My daughter obtained a loan and paid off the IRS so that I could keep a roof over this 70 year old head.

I send many emails and faxes to "Frank", my original contact with J.K. Harris - he would only reply that he would look into it. Nothing more. My attempts to contact "Beth" also proved unsuccessful. So --- finally,
I wrote to a letter to the president of J. K. Harris and would you believe - received a letter from "Beth" stating she would be handling my request. How unreassuringly that was. The president couldn't be bothered!

I have requested my daughter's original fee be returned, and just yesterday received a letter from J. K. Harris' Review & Oversight Department" that my case had been closed and no refund was due me. How sad that this company promotes themselves as helping people, when in fact, they are taking advantage of people in IRS trouble.

I to contracted JK Harris for services, I 0wed tax returns for 2004 and 2005 from a past business the IRS had attached a Lean on my house and property, JK Harris brought about a resolution to 2004 that i was happy with by reconstructing the 2004 return. But the 2005 they recommended that i take a item of compromise which would of cost me a small fortune so i told them to reconstruct again like we did with the 2004 return at that point all communication stoped and would not return my phone calls the ###s left me hanging. So to make a long story short i did the 2005 return on my own and the IRS excepted it. They agreed ed to do both returns for a specific amount of money witch they did not. I got lucky and got out of my IRS problems with a favorable disposition and a lessen to be learned. My advise do not consider JK Harris as a option what JK Harris charges you an arm and leg for you probably do on your own.

Wow what a scam. I didn't lose alot of money but my business did get siezed and I lost my business and livelyhood. I was promised by J.K.Harris that I would be getting back my money after it was approved. Months later I did receive a letter that basically said it has been aproved for refund and the check was going to be in the mail. Go Figure. Well it has been over 3 years and still no payment. I called the office over 50 times and was told by one lady there that I can't sue them "Quote" read your contract. I would be in line to stop other ppl from getting screwed from J.K.Harris. If you or I did this we would have already been in jail. And for a long time. I don't see how anyone could sleep knowing that the have ruined ppls lives and trust. It made us all smarter but at what cost.

We operate a small bussiness and early on we got into a situation where we owed back taxes. We needed help and we hired JK Harris. We paid them $5, 000. They said "oh sure" we can get you an offer and compromise. We felt like we had no where else to turn and we trusted them. What a JOKE! They met us in a temporary office in our town and told us they would be available anytime we needed them...OH No...everything was done over the phone and fax to their office in South Carolina. Every six months our contact person would change. The whole process dragged out for around 3 years. We were even making payments to the IRS as if the Offer had been accepted. After paper pushing back and forth. JK Harris sent us a letter telling us that we had too much equity in our house and we made too much money for the IRS to ever accept an offer and compromise! THEY KNEW THIS ALL ALONG! Now our penalties and Interest are Excessive...JK HARRIS made our situation MUCH WORSE than it was before we hired them...PLEASE let us know about any law suites we can join against them...They need to be put out of bussiness and the MASS PUBLIC needs to know about them!

I had the same experience with JK Harris. They told me they could and would help me with the tax problem I got into after loosing my seventeen year old son. All they did was cost me more money. I paid them over $5300.00 for nothing. They had no worked on the case the state told me that it had been to long and would not forgive me of anything. I always got a new person working on my case seldomly got calls back. I can not understand why something is not done about these companies praying on the unfortunate problems. The government could get their money faster if these companies that claim to help you would be taking so much and not getting the help you where promised.

I spent $2, 275.00 and have had nothing done. I even sent them a notice to return my money and they have refused to comment. These people need to be locked up. My hopes are that the state of Arizona will do something for WE THE PEOPLE that have been ripped off by this company. Other states have brought class action law suits against them. Whey can't Arizona? Lets get together and try and get the state Attorney to help us here.

I too was scammed in 2004 by JK Harris. With all the fees I had to pay them I could have just sent that money to IRS. What gets me is that JK Harris still advertise on the IRS web site. Do yo think that IRS is in on this with them?
I received less than 17.00 back. Every time I see their ad on TV I want to find ways to bring them down. But they continue to rip people off. If I scam someone I would go to prison. I just want to blow them up. My tax debt has mor than tripled since then. I'm just paying of the interest & penalties now. I will never pay off this debt now that I am unemployed.

I have paid Jk Harris and company almost $3, 300 from lat untill now. What a surprise I now have a tax lien due to some back taxes unpaid. They promised me they would reduce the amount I owed and low monthly payments. So far all I have received form Jk. Harris and company is bills and collection calls once I stopped paying. I noticed somehting was wrong when they would not return my calls. I'm now stuck out of money and need a lawyer or good cpa in the NYC area. Can anyone direct me in the right direction? I want to take part of that lawsuit as well. Please contact me at Rennesung@yahoo.com please any help would be appreciated.

Same here. Paid $2, 800 up front for help. Filled out paper-work. J.K. Harris sent me THE SAME PAPER-WORK every 8 month's. After countless copie's, statement's and money/time running down 10 year's back bill's/bank statement's/etc..., I had had enought. Finally caught someone on company phone;who was very rude and litterally called me an ''govt. conspiracy nutcase''. My case was shuffeled thru 4 caseworker's, whom each said they never recieved any returned paperwork from me. I was finally told by the I.R.S. after 2 year's that J.K. Harris had contacted them, looked over my vase a total of under 2 minute's, and prompitely droped my case. J.K. Harris did'nt even have the ball's to notify me of this! The I.R.S. did it for them.

THIS IS A TRUE STATEMENT JK HARRIS IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM, THEY HAVE NEVER HELPED ANYONE. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF HIRING JK HARRIS. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS, IF YOU OWE THE IRS, TAKE WHATEVER MONEY YOU WOULD GIVE TO JK HARRIS AND PUT IT TOWARDS PAYING OFF YOUR IRS DEBT. YOUR BEST BET IS TO GET ON AN IRS PAYMENT PLAN ASAP AND PAY OFF THE DEBT.

I also have been scammed by JK Harris and will willingly join any lawsuit against them. They have held my case up for almost 10 years now without getting me a settlement. Tossing me from agent to agent or (specialist as they call them). The outcome of it all was they finally wrote me a OIC for the IRS but of course it was denied. Once it was denied they are now telling me that they can do nothing else for me except workout a payment plan to repay the full amount of what I owed to the IRS to start with. When I signed on with JK Harris I made 30% more than what I make now and they told me then I could get a settlement butg now due to the economic downturn I make significantly less money and they JK Harris is telling me I make to much money to get a settlement from the IRS.

JK Harris is a huge scam! For anyone thinking of going through this company be WARNED! You may as well just get on an IRS pay plan and get it over with. JK HArris will not help you in the end, they wiill just take you money give you the runarounds for as long they possibly can and then dump you into the IRS's hands from where you left off in the first place.

Wow! I Thought they were taking me for a ride 'till i looked at these posts. They made me pay for filing two years back taxes and for a OIC. As far as I can tell, they didn't get my tax liability reduced at all. They ensured their payment at every step, yet took their time in fixing my problem. They took 3 weeks to process and file 2 tax returns and it took me 2 days to prepare and file 5 years worth on my own. I went to them for help and instead of helping me, they helped themselves to the remains of my bank account (costing me more than $150 in bank fees). Their representative never told me that I was signing an authorization for the bank drafts. It seems to me that they make a living by procuring bank drafts and lying to their clients. Why would they take money from those they are supposed to help and not do the job that they have been paid for? The entire company is a fraud. A money mill for a bunch of scam artists.

JK Harris has done the same to me. There are several class acts suits going on through the attorney generals offices in each state but still no private practice attorney to take the suit on. This may make you feel better but it doesnt me. JK Harris took my 1900 dollars promising oic and 3 yrs later still fighting with them for a refund or representation in which they say they promised to file returns for those years which they did not. I not have a half a million dollar lien on me which is accruing 10000 dollars interest a month and the only thing I knew to do was call the National Tax Advocates to solve this problem with the IRS which their number is [protected] They will help you get straight with the tax problem. Until somebody organizes or finds an attorney to go after JK Harris other than a regular lawsuit I am afraid they will continue their rein of terror. I am working on it but no luck and I think I am going to have to just hire an attorney on my own. I will ask for JK Harris to be responsible for all penalties that have incurred believe you me. What choice do I have

I am currently going through this process with JK Harris and it has been nothing short of a complete nightmare. The IRS rejected our first offer and JK Harris forgot to file the appeal and our assets went into Levy Status. Now I am in a stay of collections and once again JK Harris has dropped the ball and I do not have the paperwork that I need to submit to the IRS and my stay of collections expires tomorrow. They never return your calls and their management is of no assistance either. I have asked them what will happen if the paperwork is not submitted in time and they said that they do not know. They are useless and do not make your tax problems go away. They make them worse. I paid JK harris good money to help us and they have let us down. Give your lawyer my contact info too!

JK Harris is a total fraud. They take your money and do absolutely nothing but pass you from one representative to another. They use the excuse that the agents have been promoted to a new position or left the company. Each time you get a new agent they know nothing about your case and you have to send all your inforamtion again. I am interested in joining any lawsuit possible against them.

My story is duplicate to all above. I "discovered" JK Harris on the IRS website six years, ago. After all these years, and paying them $5, 000.00, I received a letter from the IRS two weeks ago that JK Harris was no longer representing me.
I was stunned. I immediately Googled JK Harris and found all these complaints and class action suits.

I discovered that JK Harris has been charged with fraud in 18 states, and there are "numerous" class action suits against them.

My first question is, why was the IRS promoting JK Harris by allowing them to have a link on their website?
I am interested in joining a class action suit, and will do what ever is necessary to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I stand as another victim of this fraud. I am in Pensacola Florida and met with a local representative who told me we were a cut and dry case as well and would not pay the IRS over $500. I have been assigned to seven various represntatives with each one knowing nothing of my case. All information had to be sent in again. I was finally put on a conference call with my so called attorney representing JK Harris and he even told the IRS agent that he had none of my financial information in front of him. In the end I was told by the IRs that I did not qualify for a settlement. I have now hired a Real tax attorney who has shown me the laws and JK Harris should have known I did not qualify and never hired me. There are IRS guidlines that determine right up front if you qualify or not. I also paid JK Harris to do my taxes in 2007 and found out they did them wrong and I had to pay extra because of that. This company is nothing but a lie and a fraud. DO NOT HIRE THEM. If anyone has been successful or would like to put together a class action lawsuit I will be glad to join. We have paid J.K. Harris around $ 7, 000 up front for services to be provided in connection with filing an Offer in Compromise. The sales person in Mesa, Arizona looked at our information and told us that our case is a cut and dry situation. No problem whatsoever, J.K. Harris will take care of our tax problems. She told us the IRS is looking to settle old tax liabilities (of course with J.K. Harris' help) in order to bring people current so they can get back on track. Sounds good if you are looking for some help with your back taxes. We signed on the dotted line, bought some additional small business services (which we did not need) and forked over the money. This was in Oct. of 07. We sent all the papers they requested and then things started to get increasingly difficult. Our case manager changed so far I think 4 times. I have sent so far 3 Power Of Attorney to them for each State and IRS. Countless letters and faxes I have sent have been lost in the "mail room". I have tried over and over to get information where we stood in the whole process without ever getting any answers. I have asked for guidance what I can or should do on my own to further the process, of course with no response.
A few weeks ago I received a letter from the IRS asking for all kind of additional information concerning my case with a Dec. 2 deadline to respond.. I send a copy to my case manager (Express Mail) for her to respond only 5 days later. I collected all the information and forwarded it to J.K.Harris for their review and to send it on to the IRS, including a check for $ 150 for the application for an OIC. J.K.Harris never told me about this fee during the last year I have been at this. Everything was sent again via Express Mail. A few days later I got a call from my case manager that the mail room people cant find the check and that several documents are missing (they were sent, I have the copies). By the way, this was the third check that has been misplaced or outright lost in their mailroom. Today is Dec. 03, my papers have not been sent to the IRS so far. My case manager took off several days over Thanksgiving and did not get back till the 2nd of Dec., therefore nothing got done or sent.
So today I called the IRS agent assigned to my case, as nothing was done by J.K.Harris. I talked to the agent for about 30 - 40 min. The conclusion after this very informative conversation was, that I got screwed by J.K. Harris. The sales person misrepresented what they could do for us and basicly flat out lied about the chances of achieving an OIC. An OIC is granted very rarely by the IRS and to qualify you must meet some very stringent and unusual conditions (real tragedy must have struck your life). The IRS will try first and foremost to collect as many funds as possible. They may put you on a payment schedule but they will persue you for up to 10 years to collect as much as they can (unless you can pay up before that).
Whoever reads this, do not ever sign up with J.K.Harris, you will get screwed out of your money and never receive the services promised. See your local CPA for advise, you will be better off. There are law suits by various States, class action lawsuits and suit by individuals against this company, just check the internet.
I don't know how they can be allowed to keep on operating, feeding off people who are already down and desperate. They sell hope to people by lying about how they will help. They got me and thousands of others. I just hope that somehow they will be stopped and held accountable.

I also completely agree with this company being a scam and would love to get back what I deserve. I have invested almost 12, 000 to them and again they have done nothing and I can never even get a call back. If i do finally get ahold of them they have an attitude like I am putting them out or something. Meanwhile my debt owed is increasing daily because nothing is really being done by this joke/scam company. We need to all get together somehow and put this scam ### company out of business and get back what we deserve for all the pain, suffering, and stress of believing and dealing with this crap. I again can't believe this is dealt with in this societywhen other get in trouble for much less. If anyone has ideas or want to join together to do something please get ahold of me..

I have the same situation as most of you with JK Harris. I would definately like to have a law suit against them. If someone out there is willing, I will participate.
