EVA AIR You can save money purchasing with another airline

Last January 2012 on Eva Air’s website, they advertised a “sale” for purchasing tickets to Asia. I decided to purchase a round trip ticket from Toronto, Canada to Taipei for $1500, Taiwan with an open return date option that cost me an additional $250 to $300. The flight departure was in early May. I called them near the end of May to try and confirm my return flight which I wanted for sometime in early August. They informed me that there were only 3 available flight dates: 1 in mid-June, and 2 in early-mid July. They informed me that even if I confirmed one of the 3 flight dates offered to me, I would be wait listed. They further explained that I purchased a “B” class economy ticket and these tickets were mostly full due to peak summer flying season. They further explained to me that there were different classes of economy tickets such as “K” which I could upgrade to for $400 which would guarantee me a flight on one of those 3 dates.

I explained to them that when I originally purchased the ticket, I paid an additional $250 to $300 for the open ticket which I thought provided me with flexibility of the return flight dates. I further explained that their website purchase did not explain what “B” class meant and that there would be little available return flights for me to choose from. I told them if I knew how few flights were available, I would have just purchased from another airline with specific departure and return dates which would have cost me around $1100 round trip. I ended up having to pay $400 to upgrade to K class because I had to ensure I could get back before early August for a friend’s wedding.

So to keep the story from going on longer, my message to everyone is beware:
-buying open return tickets from Eva isn’t really an open ticket

-the stress of being put on a wait list

-spending many hours calling Eva customer service, when they call you back and leave a voicemail, they don’t provide a number and/or extension you can contact the person directly at…only calling the general number and having the rep confused about your previous conversation (they should have previous call information available on your customer record?!?)

-misleading when buying Eva airline tickets on the website…they don’t explain what B class ticket entails

-additional charges to upgrade from B to K class

-you can save money purchasing with another airline

EVA AIR CRIMINALS

THIS AIRLINE IS EVEN WORSE THAN EGYPT AIR !

AGGRESSIVE PEOPLE, I BROKE MY KNEE, SO I WAS WALKING NOT VERY WELL. I HAD 2 GLASSES ON WINE SO THEY DIDN'T ACCEPT ME ON BOARD.

I HAVE A BUSINESSS IN AMERICA, SO I GO SUE THE HELL OUT OF THEM.

EVA AIR rubbish service

I booked a two tickets to Thailand and the flight was cancelled. The refund was processed on the 26th NOV 08. I have called the office given on the site many many many many times and have only ever got through once. On that occasion the person who deals with all the refunds ( only one person ?!?!?!?!?) was not about ? and no one could help. I was told to call back later in the week ?!

I would recommend that no one flies with this so called airline until they realise that its not just ok to take the money and have no regard for the customer after that. If you ring to book a ticket there are lots of people to take the call.

Note to EVA are you compounding the interest you earn off delaying customer refunds ? if so I want the interest due in the monies you are holding of mine.
