BioLife Plasma Services Donation process

BioLife accused me of removing my shoes which I did not do. Multiple staff members chastised me for something I did not do right in the middle of the lobby while other staff and donors gawked. I’ve attempted through multiple means to resolve this issue and all that’s come of it is that they’re rude nasty lawyer has filed pages of lies about me (which I can prove are lies) on publicly available records. She demanded proof which I could not provide as there was no contact info on her letter. After much searching, her email is hee.[protected]@takeda.com. Sharing this in case anyone else has been wronged but can’t find contact info.

BioLife Plasma Services Employee's unprofessional behavior

I would like to formally make a complaint against employee Elizabeth. I am a frequent donor and on today I finished my donation and I was patiently waiting to be disconnected. In my section I finished first, then two other donors finished after me. Elizabeth skipped me, and went to disconnect another donor. Then she skipped me again, and went to disconnect another donor. I politely asked her, are you skipping me? Then I asked, can you tell who finished first? She responded no, and then went to say that I'm always rude to her when I come in, which is not true at all. Her response confirmed that she was purposely skipping me because she felt like I've been rude to her in the past. She has drawn me in the past a few times and has messed up my arm, and missed my vein every time. I complained that she needs more training, and I even told her in a constructive way, that she is "nose diving" her needle and that her angle is completely off. I've never been rude or disrespectful to her. One time I asked her to double wrap me, and she had no clue what I was referring to. So I ended up bleeding all over the place on my way out because she refused to listen. So on today she was very unprofessional by arguing with me back and forth, talking bad about me that I'm a frequent donor and that I need a job that's why I am there so often. This is unacceptable behavior to me and donors should not have to tolerate this from anyone. I am nice to everyone there. If she is unhappy with her job, she needs to find another one or just improve her skills and get better!

Desired outcome: I would like an apology for the unprofessional behavior that I received on today. I would also recommend that this employee get re-trained on her attitude and on her venipuncture skills before someone gets seriously injured.

BioLife Plasma Services Appalling

I’ve been coming to Biolife and donating 6 months on and few off and then back on, they got new machines and new needles and have stated they have had many issues with them . All of a sudden 2 weeks ago , one time the machine kept stopping that I was on and they asked to adjust it so I said sure- they adjusted 4 times and it kept happening but said I donated enough they can use it and they don’t want to keep me on the machine too long so they took me off. It happened again 2 more times. I was told they’ve had many issues with the new machines and new needles that this has been happing a lot to people. So they did a vein check and stated that my right arm could not be used ever and ONLY my left could be used and I need to be a lead stick so I need to ask for a pink slip every time - that’s fine , I had no problem with it. So one of the girls that works there suggested last time “when you come in next, have them go in above the mark because I think they keep sticking you in the same place it may be scar tissue causing the machine to stop because you’ve never had an issue before and you have great return , so that may be what it is and we have a lot of new people here”. I said “sure no problem”. I came in for my appointment today and they flagged me in the computer- I waited 20 minutes for someone to come and talk to me and then she proceeded to tell me that I was deferred 30 days from donating because my last few donations were not 100% and its in their system that I REFUSED to let them use my right arm! The arm I was told ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE and all that was supposed to be in their system along with me being a lead stick-NEITHER of which was documented in the system in my file , so this person proceeds to be so rude to me and accusing me of refusing to let them use my right arm to complete my past donations. I knew that 2 of the people who vein checked me last week , were working today and that I told her she needs to speak to them because they will remember - She said “ I will go see if your story matches with what they remember “- like I was so appalled the way I was being treated and accused of things that were not true by any shape or form! She was accusing me of lying! Then she came back and was like “ yes they remember what happened but since no one put it in the system it’s defaulting you to 30 days before you can donate again”. I work in healthcare and I try to give back which is why I donate and I am just blown away the way I was treated and the things I was accused of and then zero apology when she knew I was telling the truth - she could care less.

Funny how ZERO of the proper information was put in but the lie about me refusing to let them use my right arm was in there- how on earth does THAT happen?! This is the Mounds View location in MN.

Biolife should be embarrassed this goes on and I will be letting people know.

BioLife Plasma Services Discriminatory donation policies

Date of most recent encounter: 2/19/2024

I came into BioLife early last year and answered their incredibly long and invasive screening questions as honestly as I could including: “have you been diagnosed with anxiety or depression within the last three years” which as I’d been diagnosed with both in mid 2020 I had answered “yes”. I have been donating blood through a variety of different organizations for years and have never once been asked a mental health question so I didn’t see the significance at the time and still don’t.

This simple, honest answer deferred me from donating pending paperwork from my psych clearing me to donate. I acquired the paperwork a few months later and had not been into donate after due to personal life conflicts. My psych told me after she had reviewed the paperwork had told me she genuinely did not understand the relevance of their questions and said it was the most intrusive questionnaire she'd ever seen. My therapist and a phlebotomist with Red Cross also could not fathom why this information was relevant.

Today I came in, a full 3 years+ post diagnosis. I had made my appointment online and was told nothing about my deferrals still being in place. After about 30 minutes in the waiting room and being bounced from person to person I was sent to speak with the nurse as the deferrals were still on my account. I then sat through another incredibly invasive interview about my mental health including questions about self-harm, my medications down to the date prescribed and the most recent dose change, and my mental stability. Thirty minutes later I was told I was still deferred and my psych would need to fill out the paperwork again.

Why?

Because in spite of my psych saying "yes this person is stable to donate" the manager at BioLife decided I wasn't. There was nothing I could do about it at the moment my psych had to fill out the paperwork again, I'd need to come back on another day again, just to be asked more questions again, and still have no guarantee I'd be permitted to donate.

There is no research supporting BioLife policies and the nurse told me that they needed to be mentally stable enough to be around the other patients. I found this logic to be incredibly bizarre. There is no evidence that donating plasma would aggravate suicidal tendencies or self-harm behaviors. Especially not as the donation is happening.

So for those doing the math BioLife has wasted 2 hours of my time between two appointments, wasted my psychs time in paperwork, and wasted gas of mine over deferrals that could have been relayed to me prior to coming in.

I am writing this review because BioLife has to reevaluate its policies on mental health as the current ones have no basis in modern medicine.

Desired outcome: I would like BioLife to reevaluate its policies regarding mental health and deferrals to avoid further wasting time and resources.

BioLife Plasma Services This experience has turned me off from being a donor

If I could give this place and the nurses that work here 0 stars I would. I had the absolute worse experience here and will I will not be donating plasma or blood anymore. I waited nearly FOUR hours to donate because a "nurse misplaced my new donor placard" which had my social security number on it. That is what I was told by the supervisor on duty (Saturday January 27, 2004). The nurse who took my new donor placard is named Kayla.

Once I was finally hooked up to the plasma machine I immediately began having reactions. Because it had been over 3 hours that I had been waiting, I'd had nothing to eat. I experienced weakness in my hand, heart palpitations, scratchy voice, itchiness and tingling in my mouth. When I told the technician what I was experiencing she told me this was normal, but I did not feel safe or comfortable in the care of these nurses. I have donated blood before, but this was my first time donating plasma, and the lack of attentiveness and blatant carelessness has completely turned me off from ever wanting to donate my blood or plasma anywhere, ever again. In my opinion what I experienced is absolutely NOT worth the compensation. I wish I could scrub this experience from my memory.

Not to mention the bathrooms were filthy with paper towels strewn all over the floor and no paper towels to dry your hands. There was also blood on the floor in one of the restrooms, and considering this is a health clinic where blood and plasma is being drawn, I don't even have to tell you how unsanitary that is. I did let Kayla, one of the nurses know, but in the 3 hours I waited to be seen, I didn't see one employee go into the restroom to clean it up.

BioLife Plasma Services Service of employees

I was left bleeding out while nurses walked back and forth ignoring me. I asked to speak with supervisor and was told to wait. Supervisor NEVER came out. I have photos I wish to send to the Corporate office of my arm , in which now I have a small knot from the injection. I had to go home and change clothes there was so much blood on my clothes. Someone needs to contact me ASAP or I think I’ll just post the pics with the story.

Claimed loss: Blood

Desired outcome: I want Both nurses Disciplined for this. My arm is in EXTREME pain now!

BioLife Plasma Services Falsifying reports and unfair treatments. I have to rate this but my true rating is a negative 0

These people are liars and do not care about the donor clients. They don’t put the needs of patients first. I was able to donate plasma and willing to be part of a team that’s working towards making life’s better and I truly respected that of this company but sad to say I was sadly mistaken this company is more concerned of themselves and being bullies versus patients needs of plasma I got permanently deffered because I told a staff I felt my rights was being taken away due to them forcing me to deal with a staff that clearly didn’t appeared to care to deal with me and I reframed from her assessing me. No issues occurred on my part but I was told I couldn’t come back because of me expressing to another staff the unfairness of it all. I was called after that and told to not return because of that. This is the only time BioLife responded. See picture below.

BioLife Plasma Services Donating

I went to donate on [protected] at the newark delaware location

I passed the screening with a normal iron and protein level and BP level (something like 138/78) but my pulse was 101 so they had me wait 5 mins this was with a woman who I NEVER SAW THERE BEFORE she took my vitals again and said it was 260/111 89 but since I went up (medically to the point if this was true you were obligated to call a ambulance and have me sent to a hosptital for such a rapid change in blood pressure) but she only asked the little feminine spanish worker next to her who said "THROW HIM OUT, WE TOOK HIS BP TWICE, OUR MACHINES ARE PERFECT" and wouldnt even let her take my BP again to see if the machine was malfunctioning.

So after I left I went the 2 BLOCKS up to my pcp (within 5 minutes) and had them emergency bill my insurance and take my BP which came back at 180/80 bp of 89 so you guys are lying to me and treating me like garbage now that i've been with you over 90 days, like you WANT ME TO LEAVE so you dont have to pay the bonuses or anything or the larger second payment. I am contacting my state medical board to come and inspect your equipment along with the FDA because my PCP said i'd either be dead orbe in the hospital going from the original BP to the retake within FIVE MINUTES and your little spanish fem guy threw me out. If you dont want me to donate there, be honest. tell me you will get more money from the flock of new donors you have that now make me wit a HOUR extra from my appointment time.

Claimed loss: $90 for lying to me about my blood pressure that i proved and have on file with my PCP

Desired outcome: I want the $90 you wouldn't pay me plus the ability to continue donating with medically trained and certified staff doing the screenings, not someone off the street like you have now.

BioLife Plasma Services A nurse in biolife ames iowa 9:30 am 01/11/24

This nurse did not listen to what I am trying to explain but tather than just told me I can’t donate anymore because of the piercing that I had back may 2023. I remembered one technician documented it while screening me but was not there. I just feel like she did not gave me any chance. Why did they let me donate if they are teally I serving me everytime I come un and dinate with my piercings already done. It is just unfair because I am depending on this donation for my expense for my kids school and also trying to help people.

Desired outcome: Please let me donate again. This is a misunderstanding and injustice with that nurse!!

BioLife Plasma Services Not receiving my payment for donating

I donated as a lapsed donor on December 28th 2023 in Warren Michigan. I was finished donating by 4:30 p.m. As of December 29th at 11:30 a.m. I still have NOT received my payment! I contacted the card issuer who said it is the fault of Biolife. I called my center and they tried blaming it on the card issuer. They then called me back and said payments should be made by 5 p.m. e.s.t. today. I have a bill that is due before 5 p.m. today which will now be late and I will incur a late fee. Is Biolife going to also "compensate" me for the late fee and my aggravation? Would if it is not there by 5 p.m. today. This million dollar company is ripping off the poor and working class by taking our body fluids and not compensating us in a timely manner as they advertise they do. My next phone call will be to a Lawyer!

Claimed loss: $90 - plus

Desired outcome: I want my $90 owed to me asap and also additional compensation for my wasted time and aggravation.

BioLife Plasma Services Biolife plasma services company lying. False statements

My complaint on biolife has not been resolved. I’ve done what they’ve asked of me but they have yet to contact me other than going to compliant board requesting for me to submit my complaint on their website which l’ ve done. I would like to know what I can do next. First they unfairly deferred me for just speaking on my feelings and now they’re lying stating my complaint is resolved which is not true at all. No one has bothered to contact me

Desired outcome: Company investigation. Removal of defferal.

Hello to whom it may concern I understand that my complaint will be considered resolved by me not being active on this website but honestly I don’t know what else I can do. If possible I really would appreciate if someone on this website could help me with what I could do next because I don’t want anybody to go through what I’m going through and I don’t want it looking like the BioLife company have address my issues because that’s most definitely not the case even if I have to keep following up on this website to report what’s really being done with that company I will. They try to make it seem like they are concern and willing to help on the complaint board website but when you follow through with there request to go on there website to submit your complaint as they request that you do they don’t respond. I submitted my complaint at least three times the first time was before I submitted my complaint on the complaint board but they sent a message on the complaint board pretending as I if hadn’t already submitted a complaint on there website but I did as they said and I even informed them I had already submitted one to them prior to doing so on the complaint board they never responded it wasn’t until I responded on the complaint board to make it known that my complaint had not been resolved that’s when they finally responded letting me know on December the 27th that they was out for the holidays and spending time with their family and they would be back on the 2nd of January. Today is the 18th of January and they still haven’t responded back to me. They only care about responding on the complaint board website so they can look like they’re addressing matters biut that’s not the case at all. I will continue to follow up on these people letting the public know what they’re really about. I will not let it be believed that these people care about their customers when they most definitely show they could care less it’s proven in their lives response to me.

BioLife Plasma Services - Deferred permanently

I have been a donor at the Hampton Virginia BioLife plasma clinic for over a year, December 7, 2023 I went in for my first donation of the week as normal when the screener called for the next person at that point I stated I’d wait for the next available screener in no rude manner at which point the screener appeared upset but I continued to wait for the...

BioLife Plasma Services Urgent!!!

URGENT! LOCATION: 7555 Northwest Loop 410 #103, San Antonio, TX 78245

"DO NOT COME HERE! I thought I would make extra money for Christmas on my day off so came to this location. They do not change their gloves, even if you ask them kindly after they assist other donors. I asked a lady with a hijab to change her gloves before she attended to me. She yelled and said she was not going to. She took me off guard. I thought why is she yelling? I asked her kindly again asking to please change them, but she continued to refuse. I explained to her that my concern was that blood can transmit disease-like aids, and it is important to use clean gloves when working with blood and taking care of multiple donors. However, she became angry and yelled at me, refusing to help.

She then told me to go back to the end of the line. I was in disbelief and shocked at her behavior. She then said I'm not dealing with you! She called a young man and asked him to assist me instead. However, he didn't listen ignored my concerns, and sided with her. He said it was not in the policy to change them even if a donor asked, In the end, I left feeling very disappointed, frustrated, and concerned for other donors.

I want to warn other donors that this facility may not take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety. I will not be returning to this location and encourage others to consider their options carefully before donating here." Now that I'm here at home writing the review I believe she might have been discriminated against me because I'm a Christian. I was wearing a big cross on my cap and she was wearing a hijab. I will be praying for her.

BioLife Plasma Services Long wait times and rules for arrival

I have been donating almost 1 yr. Enduring the long lines and wait times to donate. Often there 3 hours and then 1.5 hours drive time...I quit after my last visit and won't go back. I thought my appt was 7:45 and it was 7:35. I couldn't register and was turned away. It was the day before Thanksgiving, there was absolutely no one in line for testing, two people being test and one person registering. I was told that if I wanted to donate that day to come back at 3:55. AGAIN, no wait at all and they couldn't get me in so I could complete my donation. So, it's just not worth it if they are that un-accommodating. Customer/Donator to Administration interface is severely lacking. I can do something else with the 4.5 hours I was giving to you twice a week.

Desired outcome: Change your policy to be a bit more flexible for the next person and appreciate your donors

BioLife Plasma Services Scheduling appointments

I was deferred back in May pending a 2 part protein test. After my second test I called a few times over the following weeks. No one answered...ever. finally about a month after the second test I got a return call saying that I was clear to donate but that it was time for my physical again. I have been trying ever since. I go on the site at least once a week and try to schedule out as far as it will let me. Every day ALWAYS says "no appts available". It has been months. I have called sooo many times and never have I gotten an answer or call back. I still get emails all the time from them asking me to come donate and to schedule an appointment. I am very frustrated.

Claimed loss: Time, money, i.e. missed opportunity to donate

Desired outcome: Schedule an appointment for a physical and donation.

BioLife Plasma Services - The treatment from staff

My first time attempting to donate plasma ever. I had to put my dog down of 13 years and have him cremated so I needed some extra cash I’m tired. I have not slept well the last few days and I’ve done more crying than I ever have in my life I have to imagine that people here deal with a lot of stuff if you will but I however, have never felt so judged...

BioLife Plasma Services Extremely long wait times

I’ve been donating for a while now at the Douglasville Georgia location. For the last couple of months wait times have been extremely long. Lines to get your vitals done are wrapped around the inside of the building and the line to actually donate has been the same way. The wait is ridiculous. Once, I stood in line for about two and a half hours and and the entire process took about 3 and a half plus hours, all for $40. I’ve made several appointments after that to only come in and find that the lines are still wrapped around the inside of the building. After seeing that, I’ve just walked out each time. BioLife has to understand that people have jobs and other responsibilities. Most of us can’t afford to be there for three to 4 hours. They seriously need more staff or they need to rethink their scheduling process. Because of this, I won’t be donating anymore.

BioLife Plasma Services Biolife universal city texas / racist staff / falsified medical records

I can prove that the Universal City, Texas Biolife Plasma location does have several racist staff members whom have begun falsifying medical records as a way to defer individuals of a specific skin tone and or color. This issue has occurred on several occasions. When the individuals get caught they attempt to use the medical equipment is malfunctioning as an excuse. These individuals deliberately falsify medical record and give erroneous numbers as a means to interfere with individuals records in a manner that is inconsistent with the standard according to internal policy. This is an issue that involves a federal crime of fabricating and manufacturing false information that is then recorded as an enduring medical record. THIS IS A FEDERAL CRIME OCCURRING IN UNIVERSAL CITY, TX. There can be no question that your staff and faculty in Universal City Texas is in fact guilty of several Federal Crimes in relation to the fabrication and manufacture of false information that is then recorded as an enduring medical record which is in fact a federal crime.

BioLife Plasma Services Compensation for Plasma

I've been a plasma donor for almost 2 years. I've recently been receiving $140 a week but now it's been reduced to $130 and the alert I received was showing as a "reward" I spend on an average, 2 hours at Biolife every time I donate.

Why do people get rewarded when they stop donating? Why don't you reward the people who continuously donate every week instead trying to get away with paying as little as possible? I feel our time and plasma is definitely worth more than that. My husband stopped donating for 6 months and you offer him $750 to come back while I never quit and I was getting $140 a week. Please tell me how this is fair!

Desired outcome: I don't want an apology....I just want you to make it right for continuous donors!
