General Manager in Virginia
I worked* as a team lead in the Mechanicsville, VA Location.
My schedule was as follows: Feb 8th Closed, Feb 9th Closed, Feb 10th Closed, Feb 11th Closed, Feb 12th & Feb 13th was off
I reported to work early, as asked at 4pm on Feb 14th with the anticipated busyness! When I came in, I was asked to be out front. GM (General Manager) handed me a stack of bounce back cards. I asked if I was to hand them out or if I needed to give to waitresses. GM said I was to go around to the tables to give them out. Which I did. I had given several to B’s tables, J’s tables, M’s tables, and A’s tables. I also applied at least 2 military discounts to J’s and B’s tables. I had only come to the back to check on a to go order, but went right back out front, as K was handling expo and to go. Another time was necessary as I let K in the office to order pizza and to take a check out from D. I also got S (PM) bar drawer from the safe as well as let P put her (AM) bar drawer in the office. I checked in with host, to make sure things were running smoothly. I even got out the wait list for L, for when it was needed. C needed to take a break and wanted to place an order for food, and I did that as well. S (another team lead) came in approx. 530. I walked up towards front door where she was, and she said she was at the host stand because GM had asked me twice and I was not following direction. I immediately looked for GM to speak with him, as there had to be a miscommunication. I would never not follow directions. I honestly thought I was doing what he asked of me. I asked if I could speak to him, he agreed, and we headed to office. He said that he asked me to be at Host stand twice. Again, I honestly did not ever hear him say that. The instructions I heard from him was to be on the floor and to speak to all customers and hand out bounce back cards. How could I be stationed at host stand and go around to all customers as he asked. We had NO wait at the door and again I had checked in to the host several times. Once even to make sure they were not seating outside of sections because GM had got upset about B taking a table away from her section.
He just shook his head saying, “I told you twice, to be at the host station”, but then couldn’t answer when I asked him how I was supposed to do that and hand out bounce back cards as he asked. He said he was watching me and never saw me walk the floor, which was not true at all, as how could I have handed out so many cards and not be walking the floor. I specifically remember hitting 61, 51, 62, 63, 54, 32, 33, 34 (the larger party), 35, 37, 11, 84, 83 & 82. He spoke of the figure 8, which again would contradicted what he said, because that would include going into the back, which again I was told to be on the floor. He was screaming at me and telling me, "I had NO VALUE". I was absolutely floored by this. So, I asked him if I had no value, why was I still there? He said, “I don’t know”. I never disrespected him, called him names, or insulted him. For him to make a comment that basically says, I’m worthless was all I could take. If I had no value to him, I could have been at home with my family for the last 7 months, not closing his restaurant several nights in a row. At that time, I handed him my keys and key card. It was wrong to walk out however I could not stay after that. I was a hysterical mess! I had never had a boss speak to me that way! Now, I realize he triggered my Complex PTSD by screaming and insulting me. This caused a fight or flight reaction, which was why I left. He surely did not try to stop me. GM cannot speak to people any way he wants. He blames it on his English; however, he knows perfectly well what he is saying. He is rude and lacks tact! It's not even so much as I want this job back, but he needs to know he has to speak professionally to people. I was not doing anything wrong and did not deserve to be spoke to that way. I immediately called Area Manager who had been there for about an hour after I came in. I asked if he observed me doing anything wrong, he said no. I explained what happened and he agreed that it was wrong of him to speak with me that way. And even made the comment that he basically told me I was worthless. I was asked to come in for a meeting with GM & AM on 2/18. Where no one apologized, but me and I was told I could come back as a server. I politely told them no thank you. GM says there were complaint on me and he didn't want me as team lead. AM stated I could go back into TL position with more training. I had worked it 5 months and helped close at night and noone had any issues at that time. I was not a "yes" girl for the GM and he just didn't like me. I am consulting a lawyer.

Visit on 3/11/24
I showed up here on 3/11/24 at 14:35. Establishment was not busy and reminded me more of a circus act. Managers not managing, bartenders up in the island just gossiping. I witnessed on of the employees toting another through the thruway into the kitchen area.
This is one of the reasons I stopped eating here previously. The inmates are definitely running the asylum over here. I haven’t ordered yet as of 17:10. Honestly I don’t know if I want to eat here, not like anyone has asked me if I would like to order anything. The restaurant is a hot mess, I hate to see the kitchen area where food is prepared for patrons.
Either Corporate or the franchise owner needs to pop up in here plain clothed, unannounced to see how the managers and employees are not putting the BRAND in a good light.

It’s also nice to know Applebees also runs a daycare as well (employees children sitting at employees table). Apparently complete with snacks from the restaurant chain.

About a gift card that I bought for 300.00 and it was cut up by accident the card was bought at family dollar store#7279 in hampstead, n.C. On 1/25/24with a credit card have tired to make two tries to chat with you want charge my card 60.00 to handle it. Poor customer service
On Thursday, February 28, 2024 around 8:30 pm my friend and I went to the Applebees located in Chester VA. We were seated upon entering, however we were seated next to a large party. We sat there for over 15 and was never addressed by wait staff nor management. My friend got up to ask who was waiting our table and was given they didn't know. If that wasn't bad enough a manager had the nerve to say she saw us just sitting there. I was hungry but that ordeal made me just leave. I do think so retraining is needed.

Horrible. Just horrible. My husband and I went for lunch on a Thursday at noon. The wait was long, the food was cold and there were only two people working. One was the manager, who I think was also cooking and the other was the bartender, who was also the waitress. We had to look for ketchup that was half filled from other tables, pepper and apparently they didn't have any mayonnaise for my cold burger. When I complained about my food, the manager acted as if she didn't care and offered up her regional manager's contact information immediately. I couldn't determine if she wanted me to complain to him because she's overwhelmed or if she just didn't care. She take all of our food off the bill; however, I left frustrated and hungry. I can't get the time that was stolen from me due to this epic fail. Never again.

Yes I visited your franchise on 2/18/2024 approximately at 715P; Me and my guest was seated and waiting for our server to assist us. First of all, we were not noticed for at least 10mins or more. The manager walked past us twice and did not acknowledge. This is when I spoke up nicely to see why we were not being acknowledged. The server was at the bar and stated she would be right over; I said ok... another 10min went by; at this time a group of four was seated at the bar by now... We're facing her and the bar by the way; I then noticed that she acknowledged, and prepared their beverages, then I got upset and reinerated that my guest and I was still waiting; now the bar waiters are getting their appetizers. Once again she state's she will be over, this is when I requested that we wanted to be re-seated. They did re seat us and our server was Helen; very polite and professional. I'm writing this because I made an attempt to phone Mr. Greg Herendeen and yet to speak to him; phone tagging! I really feel like this staff server were acting racist(no sure) but she stated she did not see us. Sure she did because she looked up twice after we were seated. They have Helen on receipt but she volunteered to be our server.. It was not 1 person but two at table #? not sure of original seating #

Manager Crystal in Nashville TN is very unprofessional, rude, loud, disrespectful, unruly,
I have been coming to Applebee's in Nashville TN, since it opened in the 1980s. There is a manager by the Name Crystal who is rude to her workers and customers. I have tried not to report her but enough is enough. Last Saturday, Feb 17th around 10pm a group of regulars including myself was at the bar. I ordered boneless chicken, salad, spinach dip chips, and several drinks. When the boneless chicken came out there was no celery on the plate, I ask Kaise the bartender if I could get some celery (I love eating the celery with my chicken and ranch) She came back and said they do not put celery on the plate unless you ask and they do not have any left. I asked for the manager Crystal when she came about 15 minutes later, she had a very nasty attitude. She said very loudly that they are lazy and she said they are going to bring you some. Then she turns to talk with an employee that was sitting behind me that was off the clock. about 10mins later I turned ask where are the celery sticks my food is getting cold. She all let me check I stated that's ok you can just take the chicken back. She rolled her eyes jacked the plate and walked away. A few minutes later she came and told Kasie to take the chicken off my ticket as she walked away. Kasie turns to me and says you don't want anymore. I said no sometimes when they have an attitude, I scared to get it replaced because they may do something to it. She walks back loudly and screams at me and says not my staff I already yelled at them. I turned and said ma'am I was not talking to you she said Well I'm talking to you. I said I will be reporting to you she states so they not going to do anything I run this. The other customers were like you need to report to her a former employee was there and said she is the reason I quit. Then she began to yell at another employee in front of everyone. The employee look very embarrassed when all she was doing was helping another customer. Crystal does not have any customer service or leadership qualities. If she continues I will go on every media platform and let everyone know do not go to Applebee's in Nashville cause you will be miss treated.
On 2/23/24 One of the nicest waitress was cleaning her area (around closing). I was only a few of use left at the bar. The waitress moved some chairs to sweep and mop. Mean Crystal began yelling at her and pushing the chair aggressively say you need to move these chairs I can get by. the waitress state Im sorry it will only take a few minutes and I will be done. Crystal said no move them now. We all (customers) look at her with disappoint and sadness. I turn to the waitress and ask if she was ok. she said yes I dont know why she treat us all this way. I state will she has yell at so many customers and even denied helping. in the meanwhile my cousin was waiting on her food and ask for loaded potatoes. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN WHAT THEY BROUGHT HER! the mashed potatoes had about 5 slices of cheese and some have cooked bacon with a pound of sour cream. The other customers said do send it back cause Crystal the manager will yell at you and will not fix the problem. My cousin just asked to remove the hold dish. To have a Manager that customers are scared to talk with you do not need to be in that position. I will be emailing anyone who will listen. She is HORRIBLE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNRULY. WHY IS SHE HERE? One longtime customer name Drew states that since she came several of other customers stopped coming and several employees have quit. This is unacceptable behavior that is being allowed as a manager.

Me and my wife went to date night we went to your Port Orange location. The appetizer dishes had caked on residue food. I ordered the queso Burger which was nothing like the picture looked like and didn't have any of the case of cheese sauce on it have pictures if need both orders came with lukewarm french fries, the server was fantastic he did a great job

Terrance - manager- service - unable to use gift card
On February 9, 2024, I gifted a friend a $100 Applebee’s gift card. That friend went to the Pensacola Florida location attempted to use the gift card and was denied and was forced to pay out of pocket. I called to speak to the manager today February 10, 2024. Spoke to a manager named Terrence who was extremely rude. I requested the corporate number to discuss this with an individual. He refused to give me such information and called my guest that I gifted the gift card to ignorant and incompetent. He stated that there was a note on the door, stating that they were not taking any credit cards, which was not true. I feel like we were forced to pay over $90 for a meal when a gift card was readily available. The gift card was a gift and I am extremely embarrassed at your organizations handling of such a situation. I would like someone to return my phone call at [protected] again this is extremely frustrating and embarrassing. Not to mention a financial burden to a friend. I gifted $100 gift card to, and they were forced to use their own cash.

Service and quality
Horrible service, 40 minutes to be served cold, petrified chicken. Couldn't get waitress attention, complained to management, no apology nor did she care about the quality of the nasty food served to me. I had to eat french fries for dinner while my husband are his meal as waited another 20 minutes for new food order. This was the worst experience we ever had in any restaurant. We will never return.

Credit card problem
I have a problem with my credit card not working when ordering from Applebee's online. Works everywhere else, Never a problem anywhere. Opened a ticket with Applebee's. Opened a ticket with them and all they did was try to blame it on my bank. Bank said not their problem, go back to Applebee's. Then Applebee's ghosted me. No response to my emails. I called them and was told it was in the hands of their IT department. After several more attempts to contact them I called again and was told they will not work with me. No reason given.

Was logged in already before time to purchase date night coupon on Jan 22. At12:00 I refreshed page and there was no link available and I again refreshed and got the photo shown. By 12:01 the site crashed and continued to do so. By 12:04 when the link to purchase finally shows up on site offer was sold out. Included is a screenshot of the Applebees website while this was happening.

To my understanding, there were 1,000 passes available and they sold out in 30 seconds. You, alone with hundreds of thousands of others were trying to get one. The insane amount of traffic caused the site to crash, of course.
They did have a second chance at getting one, with again 1,000 passes up for grabs. They too went insanely fast. These passes you had to register for.
The bottom line is tens of thousands of people have made the same request as you and it is just not going to happen. If people continue to have a sour attitude over these passes, they won't bother to offer any in the future.

On 1/16/204 at approximately 11:330 am My wife went an Applebee's in Kissimmee Florida. When we were seated we started to look around the restaurant and we noticed we were the only customers inside. We also noticed that the floor was still dirty from the night before. I didn't notice that any of the employees were not cleaning up. there was food on the floor please see attached photos.

Poor service. I had dinner at your restaurant last night. service was poor.
1)No one greeted us at the door. When the area was full a hostess came, and we were seated about 5min later. Note no smile simply just led us to the table dropped down the menu and left. 2) waiter took out order, served appetizers without any side plates or napkins. (artichoke dip). therefore, it was cold by the time we got the plates. Note. another waitress delivers the plate no smile just dropped and ran off. Dinners was served with hot fries and the ribs were cold. No manger stopped by the check on the table nor did the waiter stop back by to see if all was ok. I eat the ribs due to my hunger. overall customer service was not good at all, the food was cold. Where was the floor manager? Is this the best we can do? Especially during the holiday season.

Hello, to whom it may concern,
My husband works at the Sikeston, Mo location as a cook. I have an issue with one of your supervisors, Christina Porter, sexually harassing my husband. She is in management, a supervisor, someone leading a team, she has no right to come on to my husband in any sexual manner. She calls and texts his phone all the time for over a year now, with non work related conversations. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. My husband has repeatedly told her he's married and she says she doesn't care. He has basically told her to [censored] off, and leave him alone, at which she decided to send him home for 2 days, with no pay! unacceptable! I would love for her to be fired, as this is not the behavior a supervisor is supposed to be having with her employees. It is sexual harassment. My husband being a man, wasn't going to say anything or make a big deal of it, but me being his wife, I'm speaking up! especially since she is messing with our money, sending him home with no pay! I will look forward to hearing back from you as I need this matter resolved asap. I want him to quit so badly, to get away from her, but he shouldn't have to quit, she should be fired.

He needs to get her on recording making inappropriate, sexual remarks. That way, he can prove the harassment. Your husband should look for a higher paying job than what Applebee's pays. They don't pay their staff barely anything.
4 meals an 4 sodas
I ordered a pick up order two 2 for $25.. paid $65.43. This meal for two adults two kids. The kids first time eaters. Applebees was already recognized as great food. Blah. It's the loosest meal we ever ate. Food was cold while I waited 15 min inside. I only walked 1 min outside. Next store to my hotel. Cold food terrible hard lowsy. Not one thing was warm not one thing appealing. Then another 12.60 four sodas. Sodas flat an no flavor. How can you even get the soda wrong. 86 bucks given away an couldn't enjoy the food. Tip it all off they gave me three receipts not one of the meals all three for the sodas. I have my chime card. It shows what I paid for. Please fix money back not my meals replaced.
