I bought a new 2007 dodge Charger, I pay major payments, Car cot me almost 30 grand, however it is stuck in my driveway and wont shift into gear ! Iam a single mom, my only means of transportantion. Why would it shift into gear ? Stranded and pissed

Dodge LX bodies (Charger, 300 and Magnum) have a known shifter assembly problem.
Tech Tip Description: If the shifter is stuck in park, and the condition is due to a broken interlock lever spring HOOK, do not replace the shifter. The Lever and spring are released in Kit 68088259AB. Use LOP [protected] for the Lever replacement. The Kit includes an Instruction Sheet. Also, CSN K39 write-up could be referenced for instructions.
If the VIN under repair is in the range of CSN K39, do not order kit 68088259AB, and repair per the CSN.
The broken Lever Hook could be verified by looking inside the shifter assembly, through the opening at the front (park position), right (passenger side) corner. The lever is pink, and has a molded-in hook for the spring to attach to. If the hook is broke, and the spring connection is lost, replace the lever and spring
I just had the same thing happen to me. Went to the store and when I went to leave, my car is stuck in park. I called dodge to see if there is a recall and they told me there is but not for the date my car was built. What kind of crap is that? I will never buy another dodge!
