Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Checking account deposits

On March 8, 2021, I filed a written complaint about a person at the Truist Bank branch at 2500 McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater, FL 33761 - the person, Joseph Hanna, Personal Banker, told me that a check deposited on Saturday, March 6, 2021 had available funds on Monday, March 8, 2021 and he even called a person at headquarters. When I used my debit card associated with my checking account to mail documents at the USPS near me, the transaction was denied. Since filing my complaint on March 8th, I have not received a reply from Truist Bank nor any apology for giving me incorrect information about my deposit and monies available in my checking account. When I went back to my branch Truist office, I spoke with Karen Lee, and she said the deposit would go through by midnight on March 8th and have funds available on March 9th! (She was correct!) However, Joseph Hanna was wrong and whomever he spoke with at Truist headquarters!

I want to hear back about this complaint of misinformation from Joseph Hanna and at least get a formal apology from somebody!

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Overdraft Fees

Using Debit/Visa card to make the following purchases: $10.92 Dated 3/12/21,
$5.31. Dated 3/14/21, $20.47 Dated 3/14/21
$8.47 Dated 3/14/21, $11.14 Dated 3/15/21.
All of which, at time of purchase, dollar amount was deducted from the balance at the time of purchase, in which the funds were available. On 3/15/21, two EFT transactions cleared my account in the dollar amount of $565.85 & $153.68. These 2 transactions incurred an overdraft fee of 72.00.
On 3/16/21, a deposit was made in the amount of $1734.32, with only $100.00 available at the time of the deposit. The deposit was short $30.00, which was added as a separate deposit. I agree to the overdraft fee for these 2 transactions. What I don't agree with is the $180.00 overdraft fee being charge for a pending transaction, which the dollar amount had already been deducted from my balance, cleared the account only after the account had gone into the negative on 3/15/21. The 2 checks that made up the deposit of $1734.32 was from our "Retirement account with Empower". Understanding the hold on the check with the release of only $100.00 at the time of the deposit, but what I don't agree is not working with us on the $180.00 overdraft fees that is on 1) very small dollar amount purchases compare to the overdraft fee. 2) the funds had already been applied to the balance at the time of purchase in which the account was in good standing. We would not have touched the funds in our retirement account if it had not been necessary, and now $180.00 has to be spent on overdraft fees. I ask that Turist reconsiders the reimbursement of the $190.00 over draft fee. My email address is [protected]@gmail.com Cell: [protected].
The account is in Brenda J Boger & Joseph Lee Boger at 12 Barkwood Lane. Blue Ridge, VA 24064

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of $180.00 Overdraft Fee

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Overdrafts

My checking and saving accts were not linked so within 3 days I was charged overdraft fees totaling $432.00 or 12 overdraft fees! (03/02/21 $36, 03/03/21 $108, 03/04/21 $144, 03/05/21 $144) I had sufficient funds in my savings account to cover the charges paid by BBT from my checking account. $432 in overdraft fees is reprehensible!

During this trying time of COVID-19 and family issues I have asked that the overdraft fees be credited to my checking account credited since the money was in my savings account and was promptly transferred when I discovered the error. The money should have been automatically transferred by the bank or maybe call me or send a text something!

Since it wasn't a banking error they will not credit the charges other than $72.00. In the interest of good customer service I am asking that the full amount be credited.

The Boston Street branch is reluctant to make a decision. I am 63 yrs old and this past year has been a trying time for everyone. I had the money in my saving account and not one person contacted me and why should they when it is easier to just slap me with fees and then not credit them!

Desired outcome: CREDIT FEES TOTALING $432.00

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Re: recurring problem with climate & audio systems - 2013 flex ecoboost awd w/ sony

This bank is easily the worst bank I ever heard about or experienced. I have fraudulent activity on my checking account and have been receiving alerts from other money accounts due to a hack within my emails and many accounts have been compromised and bbnt now truist, or whatever they are now calling themselves has absolutely no customer service to assist you on sundays... Even for something as serious as fraudulent situations.

Desired outcome: Making people aware

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Customer service

Greetings,

My name is Princess Monroe. My father and I have an account with Truist. We have had an account with Truist (formerly BB&T) for over 15 years.

On Monday, March 8, 2021, my father went into a branch location (Rustburg, Virginia) to have a conversations about fraud on his account.

He had an extremely unpleasant, unacceptable, and unreasonable interaction with an employee. Her name DANA. My father is an elderly 74 year old man with many health conditions.

She loud talked my father and asked him to leave the bank, because she did not want to take the time to listen to him. She was very impolite to him and again, asked him to leave the branch and his issue never was resolved and no one called to follow up. This is 100% awful, really bad customer service. This is not the way anyone should be treated by an employee of a banking institution. The times we are living in now (covid-19) compassion, empathy, and understanding will go along ways and dana did none of this, in fact she was the total opposite.

I would like to speak with someone about this. Thank you for your time.

Princess Monroe

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Overdraft Policy

This bank has by far the worst overdraft program in the world. It takes in 0 consideration for hardship or special circumstances. My wife and I have had covid and haven't been able to check our accounts everyday like usual and a car payment came through our one checking causing it to get overdrafted by just $14 and there was plenty of money in savings to cover it. We transferred the money as soon as we saw it was overdrafted but still got the fee. I called and let the representative know what happened and they said they would use their fee tool to see if I qualified for reimbursement. She said that the tool declined it because I got 1 courtesy back in May of 2020. I then asked if there was someone else that I could talk to that would take our circumstance into consideration and was told her supervisor uses the same tool and he wouldn't be able to do anything either. I asked to talk to him and she said one moment I need to check if he is on Skype... he was not on Skype and in a meeting at almost 8pm at night she said he would have to call me back. I got a call back from him and he said he submitted it in his fee tool and it was declined for him too... 0 empathy and 0 consideration for what people are going through. Overdrafting is not an everyday occurrence for us and we always have plenty in our savings. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) refinance

truist back in October started a refinance with me and they are my current mortgage provider. Now, almost six months later, nothing. I have lost over 30 points on my credit score as a 100% direct result of them hard pulling my credit repeatedly and even after I told them to stop. I am also out almost a thousand dollars in two house appraisals ordered by them. They have asked for the same documents over and over up to 10 times per document! I have wasted dozens of hours on calls, sending faxes, emailing and just general document finding yet to no avail. They never intended right from the start to help me. Why would they? They are soaking me for almost 5% interest and they will loose money by giving me a fair shake.

Desired outcome: i want my scrdit restored so I can get a nother company and I want my money back from the forced appraisals . My time is just gone.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Bank manager

I visited BB&T. 4:10 pm 2/2/20 to make a office rent payment in cash in the winter park village branch via drive thru. (I also frequent the Altamonte fl branch Because it closer to my house.) I've never had a problem.

The teller received my cash. She then proceeded to tell me she could not take cash. It had to be money order or check. This would have been fine but I was confused because I hadn't heard this before and have been paying with cash for my rent for a while. I explained this to teller.

Teller then asked if it was for rent. She said oh okay we can except cash if it's for rent. I waited about 10-15 min notice other lines were moving along. So I pressed button to speak to someone.

Teller then told me oh I had to contact manager to make sure I can accept this.

I don't want to call it discrimination. But my hair is usually straight. On this day it was kinky, out of control, and I had a scarf on.

When the manager June finally came to window she told me they on my except a money order or check. I explained I haven't had a problem before had it been a change. She told me the change happens some time last year. She said maybe an exception had been made because of COVID. I begin to record the conversation on my phone. As I believe it to be a public place (I could be wrong) and did not record anyone's face.

June begin to scream at me! She asked am I recording her! She screamed it was illegal. At least three times. At this point I am horrified I'd never been screamed at by anyone in a bank. I've been with suntrust for over 15 years I have never gone through this. I'm wondering to myself at this point am I going to be arrested? Possibly shot? It was very traumatic for me.

June finally calmed down and asked for my number for follow up. I told her this was traumatic for me and I would like to speak to someone else. She explained the general manager was there. I told her then I would definitely not like to speak to him if he believes the way she acted was proper.

She said the general manager didn't know what was going on because he was in a phone conference in her office. She also explained she knew the person very well that I rented my office from. I perceived this as a threat. Was June saying that she could have me thrown from my office?

At this point I'm not sure where this was going. Before I left she gave me a flier. She said this would show when the rule of no cash started.

It statedon the flier rule was implemented 2018. This confused me even more. I am not sure if this was based on the color of my skin, and the scarf on my head and ratty hair. Or if June was just having a bad day.

Either way no one should go through this at a bank. I expect bank managers to De-escalate situations. I will never go back there again. But I felt the need to write this so that no one else went through this problematic experience.

Desired outcome: Maybe training on anti - biases strategy , how do deescalate

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) counterfeit charges!

At least 3 yrs. ago this bank (pantops branch) was suggesting I had a $100 counterfeit. My brother had just given me a $100 to which I wanted to deposit. The bank said the bill was counterfeit. I ask my brother what was going on. He told me he received the $100 bill from that bank. From there it was a complete mess...never had anyone from the bank explain, finally they just dropped it. It was handled wrong, it never had any final report from the bank. I would like to know how can they say COUNTERFEIT
and then just drop the whole matter. Joyce M. Hall [protected]

The hundreds of complaints of this bank show either complete incompetence from CEO on down or outright corruption or fraud being perpetuated on the marks aka the customers. Truly amazing this bank is even still in business.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Bb&t - overdraft fees

1/20/2021: the last day I will deal with BB&T/Truist. I spend over an hour waiting for customer service to discuss the $216 overdraft fees charged to me as received my unemployment benefits for the week. The customer service reps have no empathy whatsoever; I spoke to an individual two days ago about the $108 of fees charged over last weekend which reduced my unemployment benefits the following Tuesday; this unemployment thing is new to me and due to no fault of my own but I do know I am in a situation which is certainly not improved when BBT can conveniently posts debits strategically before larger credits are posted to an account so they can tally up the $36 fees and add them to the billions of dollars of fees they rake in every year. And they tell me "only one fee waiver allowed in a 24 month period." I find that hard to believe...I bet they have a dry erase board in the back like car salesmen do tracking how many cars they've sold that month. Profiting from the misfortunes of others; rather disgraceful - should consider treating your customers better that is if you care enough.

Desired outcome: Refund of $1,712 of fees incurred from 12/20/19 to 1/20/21

1. Card was blocked because of suspicious activity. NO call was made to alert me to the card status.

2. Legit purchases were declined. Christmas gifts!

3. Called to find out why card was blocked: on hold 1.5 hours, first time I called. Call transferred, but was disconnected. Called another number, hold time was 35 minutes - transferred again. wait time 50 minutes, but had to hang up to take care of business. 3rd call - wait time was 55 minutes.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Checking account

I opened an account online in September. A few days later I deposited a check. Weeks went by and no card. I call and find out someone took my card and spent money on it. They filed a claim and had me open a new Acct. The day they helped me get back online to my account they left a message to verify activity. When I called they closed my Acct.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Checking, investment account, credit card

Suntrust which is now truist is the worst bank i've ever worked with be 100 miles. I was told that since I had an investment ira I would have a checking account that would offer certain perks but mainly I wanted to avoid a monthly fee due to my balance. Of course the person failed to link the accounts so I start seeing 25 dollar fees for a few months I start calling the bank part, waiting on hold for 30 minutes! Then someone in another country gets on does'nt understand, tries to transfer me to the investment office... Disconnected. This happened 12 times over 4 weeks of calling, same outcome, finally I go in in person, wait 25 minutes to talk to someone he waives the 2 fees and says he won't be able to waive any more? And that I need to call the investment part of the company since only they can fix it? I'm furious by this time this is laughable and terrible non existent service like no one cares if the company survives or not. It gets worse, I call the investment part and they pick up after 20 minutes and explain that they can fix it and she takes down the info and nothing is fixed! This goes on for 5 more months! Finally after having to go in to another branch office and beg, a manager gave me "back" the 25 dollar charges I never should have been charged. I looked at the last statement and no charge on there. In addition zelle does, nt work here, the remote deposit camera never works like other banks, website down all the time, investment web site is a joke and has no features like the rest of the industry I could go on all day I opened the account cuz my wife thought we should have it since we had a mortgage with suntrust but now that's paid off i'll be closing everything this saturday, terrible, terrible bank/brokerage please don't do business with this company.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) Overdraft fees

I still had $1.22 in my account and they charged me two $36.00 Overdraft fees. I charged $6.68 not knowing I was negative and then BB&T charged me another overdraft fee. I called them to discuss because of my hours being lowered at work due to coronavirus they credited me $108.00 leaving me negative $5.44 and still charged me another $36.00 fee the day before my payroll check was deposited. I unenrolled from overdraft protection and am still finding a new bank.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) fraud by bbt

I need help! Im unsure of who to turn to. I am a single mother trying to raise a child alone. Actually, im doing it all alone. But until I recently lost my employment due to a massive fire, I had it all going for me financially. Or atleast I thought.. Come to find out, Bb&t has been taking advantage of me to the point that Im about to give up. Im talking over $1, 000s right now. Ive been refunded about $450 so far (supposedly), but they are scamming me worse than the merchants at fault..im lost and struggling cause I have no clue who to trust or turn to for advice. Please if only I can get pointed in the right direction. Thanks, Wendy Nicholson

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) deposit

I've been with BB&T bank for 10 years. Today went to bank and tried to deposit $1040.00. I was told I had to have my id. I asked why, and they said it is a policy, and I could be money laundering. It's a shame that I was considered a crook by BB&T. I will be taking my business elsewhere. If that's your policy, then every bank should do it, not just 1.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) their system didn’t register when I opted out of overdraft, now i’m stuck with fees

My husband and I's had an overdraft on our account two weeks ago (October 1-4, 2019) with $180 in overdraft fees, not knowing that we didn't have overdraft protection. Okay, that was fine since we obviously didn't have the overdraft protection, but that same week (on October 4, 2019) we OPTED OUT of overdraft (meaning no overdraft can happen) in both sections (ATM and one-time purchases, and the checks and reoccurring payments). Well we had another overdraft situation this week (on October 15-16, 2019) resulting in $216 in just overdraft fees, even though two weeks ago we OPTED for NO OVERDRAFT. Well BB&T is saying that it doesn't show in their system that we opted out two weeks ago, even though I know for sure that we did. So now we're just stuck with the $216 in overdraft fees, even though we opted out and our account shouldn't have been able to overdraft. So because their system didn't register that we opted out, now we have to suffer the loss of all that money! It ridiculous! And I would like a refund for the $216 in overdraft fees because I opted out of overdraft and I shouldn't have to suffer the loss of that money since I did everything the right way and their system didn't register that I had opted out.

Truist Bank (formerly BB&T Bank) bb&t stealing my money!!

BB&T has put so many 36.00 overdraft fees on me it's a normal thing every month, usually 4 or 5 every month! I am so far in debt I need to go bankrupt! They hold things on you, they put the big ones through and hold a lot of small ones so they can get as many 36.00 dollar fees as possible! I make very little money a month and it seems like they get half or more of it! They put things through when they want and hold what they want! They know exactly what they are doing! I have had to take out loans just trying to pay my bills due to all the charges they put on me, and now it's out of control my credit is ruined and I can't even pay half my bills, cause BB&T gets it! I'm sick! No one deserves to have their money taken like that! It's crazy and they have caused me stress everyday thinking about how I'm going to pay my bills and pay the bank. Can't pay my bills due to I have to pay BB&T every month! I don't know how they get away taking people's money like that! They should be made to go out of business and repay everyone's money that they have stoled from them! They are money hungry and probably hav more money than any other bank due to all the fees they take from everyone! If we have any justice in this world they should be closed down and investigated and be made to pay all the money they have stolen back to everyone! I feel for anyone that has BB&T for their Bank!
