Bookinhotels.com Did not honour my hotel reservation

I made a reservation on 18 Feb. 2009 for a hotel room on the 26/27th Sept 2009. I received the prepaid voucher and confirmation of the booking and did not suspect anything until I tried to book in. The reservation had not been made and I had to pay for an available room on checkout. I have tried to contact the company via their website and by the customer service phone number given to no avail. Today when I tried to ring again it seems that the number has been disconnected. This company has stolen my money and still has its website available to scam other customers. When are we likely to see a policing of the web to prevent scams like this?

Bookinhotels.com FRAUD

I've booked the family accomodation at RODEWAY INN / ORLANDO, and paid in advance using my VISA credit card and two days before of the scheduled date I received an e-mail cancelling the reservation because of financial difficulties and they will reimburse the money as soon as possible. Till today I did not get any money back. a lot of times I sent an e-mail to the company, but nobody answered.

Guys it is a FRAUD, let involve international policy, credit card companies, hotels, etc... This ###ing ### have to be punished.

This company took my money and did not pass it onto the hotel I booked. I now can't get hold of them for a refund. They say they will pay me but I have now been waiting for a month. There are loads of pther people that this has happened to.

I am traveling to Brazil tomorrow and i received an email today saying that my hotel reservation was cancelled. I want my money now not in 3 months. I will be more inclined to use your company in the futre if you are prompt with addressing my concern and refund my money to me immediately.

Hi,
We arrived at out hotel on Saturday the 3rd of October 2009, Jurys Inn Birmingham. We paid the company
458 Euros. The hotel was cancelled on the 2nd of October. We paid in full on the 2nd of July. I am not leaving this go. Jurys in Birmingham very helpful .

I would like to send a complaint against the bookinhotels.com.
In 25th of June 2009 I made a reservation for a room in Castromira Hotel in Lisbon for 6th to 18th of Sep. and paid 333.3 euro.
Due to some problems, before the date option I cancelled the reservation and received the email confirmed this cancellation without any penalties on 29th of August. In the email they mentioned that "refunds are made in the form of a credit to the card account. All credit card refunds are processed in a timely manner. Typically, this process takes several weeks (business days) for the instruction to leave their company account. The refunds process depends on your billing cycle with the cooperated credit card company. Once the refunded amount leaves their company account, it may take up to two months time for the proceeds to appear back in my account." But unfortunately, by now there have been no refunds. In addition, I have sent more than 10 emails, but I have not received any response yet. There are some telephone numbers in their website but there in no one to answer. When I searched in the web I found a lot of complaint against this service!

So, today I contacted with my bank, unfortunately they said they can not do anything because it has been passed more than 4 months from the payment date.

Do you have a solution for me to have back my money? and how to stop this fraud website?

I had the same problem. I booked a reservation in Conrad Hotel (Miami) back June 09 and due to changes in my travel plan I asked for a refund. I relied on Bookinhotels.com cancelation policies, but it did not work so far.

I sent some emails but the only message that I got was "Your refund is under process.Your refund will be made in your account soon. ". Besides, I was trying to get along with them, but no one answers the phone. It is very disappointing...

I totally agree with you. It is a FRAUD. How can we solve that?

Please let me know in case you have any progress on getting your money back...

I was stitched up too, they took £97 for a hotel in Interlaken, Switzerland and I will not rest until I get it back! Keep the faith people!

NEVER BOOK THIS BOOKINHOTELS.COM they can not be trusted, i had also bad experience with this company. i made a room reservation to London last June and 2 days before our departure I received e-mail that our booking was cancelled without any reason(incompetent company)I asked wat the reason they said that due to problem with the suppliers and i would be fully refunded within 7workingdays. But until now theres nothing happend, our money is not yet return to my cc. I made many complaints by consumers service but they ignore. Wat kind of busines is this? Telephone can not also be contacted, a turkish voicemail give answer, how could you that understand?
This site have to be stop, many are already the victims with this thieves company.

And finally I have got my money back! But it last over three months. I can advise you to write and have a contact with them constantly. I sent my complaint to econsumer, Polish Ambassy in Tuirkey, www.my3cents.com. Don' ever give up!

Bookinhotels.com Took our money but cancelled our two hotel vouchers

We booked two hotels in Sardinia (we made the bookings on 14 July and 22 July) through Book in Hotels.com. Before we went to Sardinia the 5 August we checked our VISA account and found that they took the money immediately the 14 and 22 July. When we got to the first hotel, they said that the room was cancelled and showed us a fax from a company called TRAVCO. It was TRAVCO who cancelled our room 31 July because they didn't get any money from Book in Hotels. The same story at the other hotel but in this case it was Gullivers Travel that made the cancellation 4 August. We who booked the hotelroom didn't get any information about the cancellation.

We have now tried to contacted Book in Hotels and are waiting for an answer. We have also contacted both TRAVCO and Gullivers.

We just want to warn people for this company with this complaint.

I've just came back from Marrakesh last monday! I'm really upset,
because I've traveled for a Congress with my wife and take the
opportunity to have a honey moon that we never have. As your webpage
told, my reservation has been confirmed!
I’ve already read about some problems that a few customers had with
www.bookinhotels.com, but some people had a good experience. Well,
I’ve decide to try! Let’s give them a chance.
But, when I got to Ryad Mogador Menara Hotel on June 16th for our
check in. They told me my reservation has been canceled by GTA on June
13th ! After trying for more than 4 hours to reach you by your website
(was been updated), and calling your telephones US Phone: +1 212 202
6710 and UK Phone: +[protected] (but it wasn't answer)! So I've
decided to pay again for another hotel!
I was really angry with bookinhotels, GTA, Menara Hotel… but the good
thing is that I’ve also recommended two friends ( Newton Viana Jr and
Rossana Beck) to use bookinhotels and stay with us at Menara hotel,
happily for they, everything went right and they enjoyed a lot their
trip. I was really glad that nothing went wrong specially with
Rossana, because she’s a single women in a Islamic country that had
her luggage lost in Casablanca Airport! That makes me think that
problems may happen to everybody. But I’m still thinking when I’ll be
refund for my additional expenses U$ 451, 70 plus all the stress that
I’ve been through. I’ve just ask you to make it fast, because my hotel
was already paid so I would not have any budget’s problems! Right now
I’m worried about my credit card bill!

I had booked a hotel room in Reykjavik for two nights 15-17.8 already in the beginning of June. I paid for it by Visa. When arriving there last Saturday the hotel told us that the room had been cancelled. I got a copy of a fax and the cancellation had been done by Miki Travels based in England.

Fortunately the hotel wasn't fully booked, so we got a room for about 50 % more than I already had paid to bookinhotels. So the final price was 250% of what bookinhotels originally offered me.

Does anybody have good suggestions or experience how to get money back?

I have just about the same story to tell. We booked a room in Vienna at 26th of June and we paid by credit card for 8 nights. When we arrived to the hotel they say that the room was cancelled by Special Tours Wholesalers in Athens, just a week before we arrived. The hotel manager tryed to come in contact with the bookinhotels, but could only find a young girl who "didn't know anything". He also got a fax from the travel agency in Athens, saying that the cancellation was made because of economical problems at bookinhotels. Of course we had to pay the room once again.
We have now started an investigation about the company, with help from the bank and from a lawyer. And since I am a journalist I also will use my contacts in media to warn others from booking with this company. We demand our money back and we are not giving up. DON'T BOOK ANY ROOMS WITH BOOKINHOTELS!

I also booked a hotel room in Berlin for the 14th to the 16th of August by bookinhotels.com. I payed for the room 2 1/2 weeks ago. When we came to the hotel this Friday, the hotel told us they have got an annulation from the agency 2 weeks ago because they did not get the money from Bookinhotels.com. So we had to pay again to the hotel, and even a higher price. So we have tried to contact Bookinhotels many times but haven't got an answer. But we want our money back! This is also a warning to others! Do not use Bookinhotels.com if they threet us.

Just had same problem with a hotel in dusseldorf through bookin.com, in this case cancelled by a company called miki travel. Cant get an answer from either company despite calling several different phone numbers.

Bookinhotels.com Took my money but cancelled my hotel voucher

I booked a hotel in Stockholm (made the booking on 25 July) through Book in Hotels.com. Unfortunately I did not research the company before booking. When I got to the hotel, it said that the company had cancelled the booking the previous day. I contacted Book in Hotels and they claimed that I financial problem on their end had caused the booking to be cancelled. They claimed that they would refund the money, and that they had sent an e-mail to warn me of the problem. In fact they have done neither of this things, and after searching the web, I see that many people have had the same problem. I have disputed the charge through Visa and wait to see what is going to happen next. All the evidence suggests that you should not attempt to use this company.

Had exactly the same thing happen to us on our honeymoon. Got the hotel and the booking was not hounoured. Had to pay some £700 at the desk. On return, we had an email saying a refund was due but three months later - no refund and the company is not contactable. They are a complete and utter scam. No more than that, they are immoral and criminal as far as I'm concerned. Don't go near them!

I too have lost $300, with bookinhotels.com. I had booked a hotel in Zurich for 2 nights and full payment was taken. Just 3 days prior departure I had received a cancellation mail stating that there is some problem with their agent & therefore theyare fng the entire amount with no penalty. Since then despite of numorous emails & telephone calls I have not heard from them & am unable to get the refund.

Please advice as to what should be the next step inorder to get the refund & stop this fraudulent act.

similar story! 2 nights in London and the hotel had cancelled our booking 2 days before as they didn't receive the money from Bookinhotels, which left our account in May! No reply to email, and strange Turkish message on the UK number! Ive contacted the IC3 internet fraud site with details and lists of other sites (like this) where other people have compained - we shall see!

I too have just lost over £500, with bookinhotels.com, we booked a hotel in london and full payment was taken, when we had to cancel for health reasons we recieved an e-mail to say that the booking was cancelled, but despite numerous e-mails and attempts to contact them (all e-mails and phone calls are routed to ISTANBUL) we are unable to get our money back. beware this scam. out of pocket, Preston, England.

In July 2009 I booked seeing an interesting stay in Firenze for two nights with breakfast buffet on the website of bookinhotels. The publicity on the site shows logo of Visa and Mastercard ('controlled by').The voucher with logo of transHotel (worldwide known) announced our confirmation of reservation, also 'paid and booked by transHotel' and guarantee by transHotel. So very thrustfull. When we arrived at our hotel Villa Liberty after 1400 km driving the receptionist told us that there was no booking for us. Astonished as we were, we had to go for another hotel and pay. I send a complaint to the customer service of bookinhotels. The morning after I had an answer saying they were verry sorry for the inconveniences and would make refundment for the supplement. We were informed that transHotel had cancelled our reservation the day before our arrival in Firenze ! We didn't book with them ! Back in Belgium I searched in google 'fraud by...' and found lots of complaints. So I contacted the press (Het Nieuwsblad and De Standaard). They put an article in their newspaper. I also send an e-mail to www.ecops.be and the Federal Department of Economy, Internet Fraud. I contacted the responsible of transHotel to keep me informed why they cancelled our reservations. I mailed it to all the responsibles of transHotel. I only got an answer by mail of their customer service that the also were sorry for inconvenience but that they cancelled all the reservations of clients of bookinhotels due to the amount of debt bookinhotels has to transHotel. So I have prove that they have a B/B relationship and transHotel doesn't even take precautions during several years that they trade with fraudulent people. I'm intended to warn the Turkish (bookinhotels) and Spanish (transHotel) authorities that these people should make refundment for all consumers !

I've used BHK earlyer with no problems, but this time I had the same experience as the rest of you. In late Mars I booked room for 5 nights in Nice at the end of July. Arrived at the hotel to be told that the hotels agency named "Tourico" had cancelled the reservation the day before due to none payment fram Bookinhotels. Tried to call BKH at all the applied numbers, but the only aswere came from answeringmachines. Mailed them the day after and some times later too. Got 3 emails that promissed to refund me, and that they were very sorry and wanted to investigate what had happenend. I have now made a dispute to the card company. Hopefully the BKHs agreement with the cardcompanys will go down soon. I have noticed that the status for the voucher at "My account" has changed from "INV" to "refW" and latest to "CB". The first one I've been told means invoiced. "refW" seems to have something to do with refunding? Don't have a clew what "CB" is refering to, but something is going on in the reservation system. But no refunding has reached me. Hopefully the dispute from the cardcompany will bring me my money, and I really think thats the only possibility to get the money back.

My God!
I have experience to book hotels via internet already 10 years and I never "failed" with it!
Now I know, that first of of it worth to check what is the company and only then to book through it.
It's the same practice in all the cases: they take money, then the day before Check In date they cancel booking, when the customer has no time to check anything and has very quickly to look for any other booking, and then they don't answer telephones and mails and just disappear!

We booked a hotel in brighton through this company, book in hotels.com in APril to stay end of July. We got to the hotel to be told the room had been cancelled by thecompany and we could only stay there if we paid the full rate which was impossible.. They ruined ourholiday! How can these people sleep at night... They obviously drink Horlicks... hope they realise... what goes around, comes around!

Similar experience to above issues - we made a reservation (fortunately only one night) before we researeched the company. Charge to our credit card occured same day. When we noticed it was charged from Istanbul, we became nervous and then checked them out. Based on comments we saw on the web, we canceled our reservation the day after it was made. We received a confirmation email of the cancellation but have not seen any credit to our account in 3 1/2 months. Unable to reach them by phone. They have fooled me once (shame on them) - Bookinhotels will not fool me again (that would be shame on me).

I have made the same experience. In April I booked a room in Bergamo for end of July. When we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that the reservation had been cancelled because of non-payment. I telephoned twice: first with the agency which sent the reservation, second with bookin hotel.com. They told me they cancelled the reservation because of financial difficulties and they will reimburse the money as soon as possible. Till today I did not get any money back. 3 times I sent an e-mail to the company, but nobody answered.

Bookinhotels.com Failure to refund owed money

Bookinhotels has scammed me too, by not refunding owed money and fobbing me off when i contact them!

Having spoken to my card company and Trading Standards it looks as though im powerless to do anything about getting my money back as bookinhotels have been clever about the way they have set themselves up.

I have decided to write to Watchdog in hope that they can do something about this and make it more public!
I have added a link below to the Watchdog site for people to email their bookinhotels story and hope that if enough people write in then Watchdog will take a look in to this case and do what they can.

I have unfortunately had the same experience as everyone else. Being a student it really did put me out of pocket and ruined my holiday. Has anyone managed to get any kind of money back. Is there anyone from Australia that has any knowledge of how we might succeed.

BOOKINHOTELS.COM has SCAMMED me too...they cancelled my booking and I have to pay double for my hotel room. It was in June 09. I filled a complain to them told me to wait for the refund which never happened until this very. They never answered my e-mails ever since, and there's nobody pick up their customer service numbers. About 3 months ago I googled the internet hoping to find other victims, there wasn't much of them back then. Not until today I found out, how BOOKINHOTELS.COM has also had their dirty scams on so many people from allover the world. By using the same method of scam and many of us are fell for it. And I don't understand how this kind of website is still allowed to be in the internet. Legal action is definitely to be done against BOOKINHOTELS.COM

An apalling service, a disgrace to all travel companies and an absolute crime that this has happened to so many people and will continue to happen to hardworking honest people. I have had a muh similar experience today. An e mail arrived to confirm my cancellation, which I never requested. I tried to follow this up with bookinhotels.com by phone, suprise suprise no success. The phone did not connect. I have contacted the hotel and they said that it had been cancelled by Miki Travels in England. I booked in May and as this was over 120 days ago (just) they cannot cover the loss as it is a Visa Debit card, which seems unfair. The UK cosumer complaints cant help because they are based in Turkey. This is disguting! If anyone has any suggestions for a "what next" I would be most grateful

I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED TOO! I WENT TO MY COUNTRY'S ELECTRONIC CRIME UNIT AND THEY ASKED ME TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE IP ADDRESS OF THE COMPANY THAT CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD. DOES ANYBODY KNOW IT?

Jim Cheshire, I booked a hotel through bookinhotels.com on the 29/06/09 for a double room etc for the 11/09/09 to the 14th/09/09 I thought I would double chedk to see if my hotel had been booked, I tried to telephone never got an answer, I emailed 5 times never got a reply, so i phoned the hotel inquestion who said no reservation had been made and this as happened before with people booking through bookinhotels.com, so then I contacted consumer direct through my local council, and they told me to go on the website for consumer direct and download a letter about the 1974 consumer credit act section 75 and this puts onus on the credit card company as well as bookinhotels to repay me the money owed, as they are liable as well, on the template you just fill in the details relevant and send a copy to the legal dept of the credit card company recorded or special delivery, and on to bookinhotels and give them 14 days to refund the money into your credit card account, hope this helps other people to get the money back

I have also the same problems. I had booked hotel in London on 10. 02.2009. for 5 nigths of travel 11.08.--16.08. Money was taken from my account, I received confirmation and voucher; however, when my daughter with her friend come in hotel, was told that this reservation is cancelled. I had not e-mail before receive.

More then that - they don't inform on their webside that it's turkish firm, there are only amerikan and british telephone numbers, therefore the tourists think, that firm is American or British.

I have also had the same problems along with my father and we are both trying to get our money back.

We booked our hotel on 17 june 09 and two days proir to leaving I received an e.mail saying the booking had been cancelled to which I checked with the hotel who confirmed this was the case.

I contacted my father who had not received anything. He contacted the hotel who confirmed his booking had also been cancelled.

I sent e.mail of complant and received a reply stating the refund would be made between 10 - 15 dyas time.

On 12 August 2009 I sent another e.mail asking where my money was and got a reply which was frankly quite shirty stating they had already told me it was being processed.

I sent another today saying they had had there 15 days and more and am quite within my right to ask when I will get my money back. I am awaiting a reply!

I am a little worried as I contacted my credit card company today who said it was up to me to get the money and not them... Now I have the legislation about how to get my money back I will make a start.

DON'T USE BOOKINHOTELS!

I had booked a hotel room in Reykjavik for two nights 15-17.8 already in the beginning of June. I paid for it by Visa. When arriving there last Saturday the hotel told us that the room had been cancelled. I got a copy of a fax and the cancellation had been done by Miki Travels based in England.

Fortunately the hotel wasn't fully booked, so we got a room for about 50 % more than I already had paid to bookinhotels. So the final price was 250% of what bookinhotels originally offered me.

Does anybody have good suggestions or experience how to get money back?

Hi

I'd like to warn everyone against the "dishonesty” of bookinhotels.com (Istanbul - Ozar Turizm Ltd Sti Istanbul Cagaloglu Turkey 34110 [protected]).
I reserved accommodation in the hotel in Malaga on bookinhotels.com web.
Money was taken from my account, I received confirmation and voucher; however, day before the departure I was told that my reservation is cancelled. Bookinhotels claim that they did not receive the money. I sent all documents to Istanbul but I don't have any contact with them. I submitted the case on the police in Turkey, I did not receive any answer. I placed many complaints, e.g. to econsumer.gov. (worth to do).
I'd like to sue them.

Bookinhotels.com Company failed to honour its promise to refund the room fees after the booking was cancelled

I made a booking with bookinhotels.com which requires cancellations to be made 3 days before the 1st day of stay.
I then sent an email one week before the due date to change my booking as I was delayed by one day. I got a reply saying that a refund will be credited to my credit card account. When I arrived at the hotel I was told the same thing and I paid for the room again.
It is now more than weeks and the company still has not paid up. I sent 5 emails and received responses to all of them and the response is always the same:
"Our accounting department will be sending you the refund"

Bookinhotels are a fraud and are stealing people's money! We experienced the same thing as the other published reviews. When we arrived at our hotel we found our reservations to be cancelled without our authority. They have never refunded our money. (approx. $1200) We have written dozens of "complaint" emails and when we call the "customer service" number we get a recording from a person in a foreign language. We are frustrated and we are victims of fraud! We are contacting the Better Business Bureau and reporting them. Never do business with Bookinhotels.com!

I made a reservation for the Metropolitan Hotel in Delhi during March 2009 for a two day stay in Aug 2009. On arrival at the hotel, I was informed that my reservation was non existant. I had to pay again for the hotel. After emailing bookinhotels.com they said that they had to cancel the reservation. I tried to phone them - no answer! Eventually I got an email from them to say that they would refund the money. To this day I have not had a refund from them and it has been over a year.

Booking reference with bookinhotels.com was BKH-[protected] they said that they had already made a refund which may take 3 months to arrive onto my credit card. Still nothing!

Hello everyone,

I have the problem like many of you with BookInHotels. I made a reservation for 3 nights in Paris and 3 days
before my departure I received an e-mail saying that due to some financial problems my reservation is canceled and all my money will be fully reimbursed. No signs of my money after 4 months. Phones on their website are not real and my emails got no reply.

Any idea how to get the money back? I used a Visa debit card.

Having decided on a trip to Rome to celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary, my parents boked through BookinHotels. Monies for the holiday were paid straight away, vouchers printed off and booking details too. My parents left for Rome with a spring in their step, looking forward to a week of relaxation and exploring Rome. Everything was going to plan until they got to the hotel they had booked only to find that there was no such reservation made in their name and no payment had been received. Luckily the hotel were able to accommodate my parents at a futher cost of 1000 Euros.

I have tried countless times to contact this sham of a company, finally being successful in sending them an email using their website. On going back to the website earlier today to check for a response, I am no longer taken to the same website, thus i have no idea what if any reply has been sent, whether my parents stand to get a full refund, and an explination as to why they have failed to send the relevant information that they said they would send 5 days prior to my parents arriving.

This company is a sham and seriously giving a wide birth.

booked 3 nights stay at Edinburgh hotel through this company and was
e-mailed hotel voucher. Fortunately contacted hotel in advance to confirm facilites to be told booking cancelled due to non payment to their booking agent although my card payment went through to Bookin Hotels Istanbul 3 months prior..
I discovered a chain of agents involved hotels JACOB Group of Companies, they said cancellation recived from Restel Spain. Have e-mailed all involved and have heard from none.
Hotel still have avacancy at double the price.
I have put matter in credit card companies hands

I booked a stay at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Orlando Florida. The charge was on my credit card with a confirmation number. After a seventeen hour drive with our small grandkids to Florida, we reach the hotel and to our surprise they had not been paid and we had to pay for the stay again. Our charge card has now been charged twice, by the hotel and BookinHotels who has stole our money.

I booked in june 09 a hotel in dominican republic for a week for my family, they took the money, cancelled the booking two weeks before and did not refund the money.
It is impossible to get someone alive on the phone.

Is there an agency that deal with travel agents ?

I HAVE BOOKED IN MAY AN HOTEL IN VIENNA FOR AUGUST 7-12, , THEY TOOK THE MONEY693.60 EUROS FROM MY CREDIT CARD THEY CANCELED MY BOOKING TWO DAYS BEFORE THE ARRIVAL DAY, HAD TO PAY TWICE THE HOTEL, AND THEY ARE NOT REFUNDING MY MONEY, I HAVE SENDED MAILS ASKING FOR THE REFUND THEY ARE EITHER LYING OR IGNORING ME I AM PREPARED TO TAKE IT ALL THE WAY I AM FILLING CHARGES I HAVE FOUND THE COMPANYS DATA I WILL TAKE LEGAL ACTION AND REPORTING THIS TO BANK

I booked a hotel in London about this time last year. The night before my departure i got a phonecall from bookinhotels saying that the hotel of my choice would not honour theire agreement at that a full refund would be made to my account. The cancellation e-mail stated the same thing. By the man on the phone I was told that the refund would make it back to my account by the next day, the e-mail said in 14 days. Well, that did not happen. So I sendt a complaint after two weeks, they reply was that it could take from 2-6 months depending on my VISA company. After about 6 months and still no money I sendt another complaint and they answered that they would look in to it. After that there has been no reply at all on my complaints. The telephone number is no longer in service. Are they still in business?

In June, I booked my holidays with Book in Hotels. Two days before we arrived in Rome (August, 24th), they cancelled my reservation. They said me that the money will be refund me in two months.
