I've been a customer at Best Buy for many years. This year alone, I've spent about $4,000 and am a Best Buy Total member. My latest purchase was a software license for McAfee antivirus protection. Since this is delivered online, I received a keycode. I needed help installing the software and the McAfee folks were able to get it installed on the first computer (it is a 5-device license). When I could not install it on my wife's computer I called Best Buy and spent quite a bit of time with a "geek" who took control of my computer but could not get it installed. That geek disabled my JavaScript so I could not leave a review and told me to contact McAfee. When I contacted McAfee, the customer service folks there asked me to contact Best Buy and have them issue a replacement keycode. I received an email from McAfee with a summary of my issue and the suggestion that Best Buy issue a new keycode. That email was forwarded to Best Buy who said they could not do that. In the end, both companies pointed fingers at the other and I bought a 5-device license for Norton from Walmart. My next action was to shred my Best Buy credit card and tell several of my friends about my experience.
Most times when using the Total Membership geeks for assistance, I give up control of my computer for an hour or three while they try to solve the problem Every now and and then it is possible to speak with the geek but never guaranteed.
Please think twice about using Best Buy in that my experiences have been very frustrating. Over a $25 dispute, Best Buy has lost at least one customer.
