Benefit Strategies,LLCInsufficient time to process claim at end of filing period

My FSA account at work ended 8/15/2011 for any claim to submit for reimbursement. I actually had dental work completed on 8/10/2011, the problem is that benstrat has a hard and fast deadline to actually submit a claim with them by 8/31/2011. The problem here is that if you have dental insurance, the dentist submits their expenses to your insurer, who in turn has to wait to see what their reimbursement amount is before they bill you, which in many cases takes 2-3 weeks, leaving you having to pay the bill.
When I contacted benstrat they adhered to their policy and stated that you need to manage your account and that their plan is use or lose it. In this case, I cracked a tooth so how do you manage that? The other point here is my wife works in the health care insurance industry and it is unreasonable to expect that any claim gets turned around within 2 weeks. So benestrat here is being totally unreasonable and trying to stick it to the consumer. So buyer beware. I have my dentist bill in my possession for proof.
