Baton Rouge Water Company - Water emergency that affected property water line

On the evening of November 2nd 2022 around 9:30 PM we noticed that the sewer across the street from our address (9735 Regency Drive) had a massive amount of water imploding into the street. The sidewalk in front of our home was also gathering water, as well as the top of our driveway. I called the local police and requested that they call someone to come out. The water was flowing constantly flooding the street for almost 2 hours. About 20 minutes after the first truck arrived, the work trucks came out and started flagging and digging. They flagged our side of the street near our meter and across the street where the sewer was releasing water. The water in our home was turned off throughout the night as they worked. The following morning when I left at 6:35 am the workers were wrapping up. When I returned home, somewhere between 7-8 am the water in our home was back on and we could hear water flowing heavily on the side of our home.. We grabbed the attention of One of the city workers who was still on the street and he advised that we call a plumber. In disagreement we asked why because they were currently handling the water issue. We were told that because it was on our property it was not the city's responsibility. I called the city emergency line and requested that someone come out and shared I was told by a city employee I needed to call a plumber, the agent on the phone agreed with me stating the city should have a look at it and she would send someone out. After waiting almost an hour, our yard was filling with water, and no one had arrived yet. I had my father request one of the city workers turn our water back off until someone arrived to keep our yard and home from flooding. I called the city back for an update. I recieved a different agent who told me that the city had no part in what was taking place on our property, if the water stopped backing up in our yard when the water was turned off then "common sense" will tell them it's a problem on our property and not with the water line that the city repaired, she said the workers would not come to our property once they knew it stopped when he turned off the water. I was to call a plumber and the city would not be doing anything to fix the problem. I pleaded, stating that we had zero issues before the water emergency took place. Also letting her know the city dug across from us and behind us on the opposite street and we were center of both digs. It meant nothing. She remained adamant that the city was not responsible. I then stated to her that we had the water turned off so what's gonna happen with us getting our water turned back on if they weren't gon to fix the problem she said once the plumber repairs it we will turn your water back on. Leaving us with all responsibility. We had to pay a plumber to come out to dig in our ground and say that our pipes were damaged and excessive water pressure could have very well caused the problem. They suggested we replace the entire line all the way from the house line to the water line in the street, andvquited us $3500. We had ti give them $600 that day! It is unfair for us (tax payers) to have to pay out of pocket for a city street water rupture that caused issues on our property. We have been without water for 3 days as of today, and now fear that the city will charge us for the increase that may appear on our bill for the water rushing from our pipes throughout the morning. The city should take responsibility and fix the issue, and dare not charge us for the excessive running water.

Desired outcome: I would like for the city to repair our plumbing line, reimburse us for the money that we paid to a plumber, and credit our account for the excessive water that ran from our line throughout the time of the incident.

Baton Rouge Water Company - Water leak

I called about a water leak at Simplex and Monarch Ave. A crew came out several weeks ago and repaired it but it is leaking again. They need to get a crew out here and repair the leak. I have called several times about this matter but, no one has showed up the fix the problem. I have not even seen anyone to come out and look at the problem. It should not take this long to get someone out here.

Desired outcome: The leak need to be fix right this time.

Baton Rouge Water Company - Customer service and charges

I was cut off and had to pay around 350 dollars about 2 months ago to get my services restored and was not advised that I was being put on a payment plan or that I had any extra fees. I was cut off again earlier this month and told that I now have to pay more than 650 dollars to get my services restored. I do not use 650 dollars worth of water and was not told that I was being put on a payment plan. This is very unfair and I would like the opportunity to get my services restored at a reasonable price.

Baton Rouge Water Company - Complaint

I came into the office on Goodwood June 1, 2019 with a concern about my bill and an un authortried activity on my check. When I tried to explain my concern to the clerk, she became aggravated. For example, she asked me, " What service are you paying for? I hesitated and did not seem to give her the answer for which she expected. When I replied, "The same service I have been paying for over 30 years. " I clearly did not understand how to answer. It was not so much what she said, but the manner in which she said it., "That's not what I asked you." Her tone was sharply brutal. I then asked if I could speak with someone in the office. She told me to take a seat. I waited a while. Then I got back in line. I was called to a different window. I asked if anyone had been made aware that I was waiting because I had a doctor's appointment. I explained my concern to that clerk. She looked at my bill and said that I needed to go to sewer and garbage to get the problem fixed. I said to her that I went there on Laural Street first. They sent me to Baton Rouge Water explaining that they did the set-up of my bill.

I further explained that I needed to bring to someone's attention that a fradulent act had been committed on a check I gave to Baton Rouge Water Company. I did not notice the difference that the amounI I wrote on my check was different from the amount on the receipt I was given. I wrote the check for the amount the clerk told me which was $50.00. She gave me a receipt for $60.00. Consequently, someone chanded the amount on my check. This clerk said to me, " well you look like you are thorough, you could have changed the amount. My bank advised me to inform you that you have an employee committing fraud. I would like for someone in authority to contact me by email to discuss theis matter further. I believe that the elderly customer and all customers should be treated with the respect. My email address is [protected]@aol.com.
