Barnes & Noble Booksellers Store Display

I was disgusted when I went to the Allen Park, MI store. The people were polite, the store was clean, selections were many. My issue is that when I looked at all of the special display tables I noticed some had a focus on women. Outstanding I thought, until I also noticed that every woman selected fell within a singular political construct. I could find none from the other side of the political aisle. As a high school teacher I stress to my students that my job is to teach them "How to Think" not "What to Think". I also tell them that many people would want me fired since they would feel my job is to brainwash them into someone's narrow political "World View". Barnes & Noble, I challenge you in regard to your integrity. This is inexcusable. Intelligent people on either side of the political spectrum should be equally disgusted.

Desired outcome: Unbiased Product Display

Hello,

I love our only Barns & Nobles book store in our city, Steven Creek/San Jose.

The staff are super friendly, the store is clean and the environment 99% of the times is so warm.

I started to meet my friends over a coffee at Barns, we usually buy a book, a coffee, a box of chocolate
and talk about new applications, our ideas about new books and etc...

Last time when we arrived and got our coffees and books, two of us were sitting around a table at Starbucks court,
We were surrounded by people, same as us, drinking coffees and talking to their book partners, of course not laud.
in our right hand side, were this man which was reading his book and drinking his coffee, after 5 minutes, he left
his table, started to talk laud, and complain about immigrants and black heads! He started with F word to all immigrants
and continued to use the same language, until attracted all the people in café. My friend scared and I thought
with this level of anger, he might come back and hurt us.
I reported the incident to the supervisor and I was brave enough to show the guy to her. The supervisor was afraid too and just thanked me to
Let her know about it. I didn't see any security there and I know this is world wide problem, but is there any protocol or policy? What we should do in this kind of situations?

I'm just sharing my thoughts and don't want anybody else to experience this again.

The incident happened on 8/18/21 between 6-7 Pm at Steven Creek Blvd, San Jose, Ca.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers The Adrenochrome Witch documentary

In June 2020 I published The Adrenochrome Witch documentary. It was a prayer for the late George Floyd. Sean Diddy Combs became ballistic and had his attorney Jonathan Davis cancel my publishing account. This was against the U.S. Constitution and my civil rights. Sean Diddy Combs is contradictory, and is servicing white men on his knees.

Desired outcome: The Adrenochrome Witch documentary

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Nook 10.1 tablet

I purchased the 10.1 tablet in Sept 2019( SN60003650003735). In May 2020 it quit charging due to the female connector inside the device being defective. You sent me a new one. Yesterday the exact same thing happened to the replacement. B&N rep said the warranty is from the date of original purchase. That is wrong. When you send a replacement due to a defective device, the 1 year warranty should begin over again on the new device, especially since its obvious there is a problem with the connection inside this particular device. I have spent thousands of dollars with your company and am extremely disappointed in you. Unfortunately, I can't opt to go with a different brand of e reader because I will lose access to the 1500+ books I have purchased from B&N.

Desired outcome: Refund of the $125 I had to pay for another reader

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Faithless in death, not delivered

In early to mid-January, I purchased three books to be sent to me. Two had not yet been released. The one that was delivered was "Lillian Boxfish Takes A Walk." So no complaint there.

Faithless in Death was released on Feb. 9. I have not received it yet. The purchase number was [protected] and the total $63.99 was put on my VISA debit card.

I have never had a problem ordering and receiving books timely from you. Please let me know when I will receive my book or send me a credit so I can purchase it.

Yours truly,
Carol Rosen

Desired outcome: I would love to receive the book

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Harassment by employee

I am a regular customer at the barnes & noble bookstore in the lansing (mi.) mall. On two occasions an employee has cautioned me about wearing a mask. I believe the first time was in december 2020, when I was sitting alone in a chair drinking a latte with my mask in my hand. I was told my a female employee (name unknown) to put my mask on. She saw I was drinking a latte I purchased from barnes & noble (as I do every week), & said "I could put my mask down between sips". Then she sent jason the local manager over to speak with me. He only said it's company policy to inform management when it involves a mask. Then on friday (1/27/21), this same employee tells me again when my latte is beside my mouth about to take a sip. She again says I must put on my mask which I had dangling on one ear, trying to drink the latte as fast as I can for fear of being harassed. I also want to say that in november, 2020 in the starbucks seating area, I witnessed michael (prior manager before jason) socialize with his wife & 2 other people. None of them had masks on! The starbucks employees had to have seen them but no one said anything to them or reported it to management! I do have a witness who saw this as well. I would like this complaint to be forwarded to area supervisor who is over the entire bookstore.

Desired outcome: FORWARD COMPLAINT TO AREA SUPERVISOR (NOT LOCAL MANAGER) OVER THE BOOKSTORE

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Face mask policy

Barnes and Noble Corporate response to Face Mask Policy states: Our standard policy is to require customers to wear face coverings, with discretion by store managers to make this policy a recommendation where this is warranted by local conditions;

However, Snellville, Ga (Gwinnette County) has no Face Mask Mandate.

Many customers are turned away for not wearing face mask at the Snellville GA (Web Ginn) location.

Please specify what the correct policy is and/or reasons these incidents are taking place...

Customers would like to have the option of shopping at that particular location as opposed to only shopping at books a million where such rules do not apply... Those who fear contracting a viral infection simply stay home or shop online...

Thank you for your time.

Desired outcome: Clarification of " where this is warranted by local conditions"

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Customer service

I was in the Greenwood Park Mall location with my husband. We understand the importance of masks. He has one lung and it's hard to breathe with it over his nose, he was told to pull it up in which he did but he also wanted to tell the lady why he had it that way, he told her I only have one lung and it's hard to breathe and she responds by saying "well that's unfortunate" and then immediately calling security by saying "I have a customer causing issues." 100% unprofessional... We told her no one is causing an issue because he listened to you and pulled it up like you asked he was only explaining himself. But they also came over the pa in a mocking manner and said "everyone needs to wear their mask properly with it over the face and nose." No regards ty the fact he did comply. I feel like we were treated like criminals. It's hard enough with the world being so stressful with this virus that no one needs to be treated so ill... I want this to be addressed. I do not have her name because we were kicked out of the store but the employees will know who it was because most of the employees there were all looking and treated us like aliens without even having one concern about what was actually happening and the fact we was completely complying and only explaining why he had it off the nose to begin and was treated horrible. Who says well that's unfortunate to a customer only explaining a health issue even though he complied with the rule

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Publishing

Sean Diddy Combs lied about the fact that he and model of Sean John, Bobby Lorenzo agreed to let me use their names in hip hop scripts like Thy Evil Side. Bobby put this in writing. Sean Diddy Combs had his attorney Jonathan Davis of New York, contact Jeff Bezos of Amazon in 2017 to have my publishing account removed. It was re-opened in 2018. July of 2020, Jonathan Davis contacted Jeff Bezos and had Amazon cancel my publishing account and all books, including the ones that had nothing to do with Sean Combs. Amazon has been paying my royalties to Diddy under the table. July 4th, 2020 Susan with Barnes and Noble sent me an email telling me my account had been cancelled, including the books that had nothing to do with Diddy. Barnes and Noble stated for the past two years, that I never earned royalties, yet two days ago they deposited a generous amount to my account. July 30th, 2020 I received an email from Kobo Writing Life that my account had been cancelled at the request of Diddy, even though I had removed his name from ALL of my publishing except, Sean Combs The Paper Boy which they allow. This isn't fair. Diddy is acting like a white slave owner that he talks about all the time. This isn't an example of Black Excellence. I hope Diddy doesn't think I am romantically interested in him because I am much older than he is, and I am married.

CEO William Lynch is allowing Sean Diddy Combs and his attorney Jonathan D. Davis to harass me by bribing the company to remove all of my publications. Sean Combs kicked Cassie Ventura over and over on FaceTime for his fans, so me talking about it publicly should not matter. It's no secret

Barnes & Noble Booksellers A book I bought online

I paid for a book. Had it delivered electronically. Didn't access it away (Did things with friends!) I read about 89 pages online. not sure if that was a sample or not. Had access to a page asking for a 13 digit #, that was supposed to be in an email. I have no email with anything but an order #, not the 13 digit number. Now I can't access anything - online, offline. This is a book I bought! This is totally unacceptable. I will never buy an electronic version of a book from Barnes & Noble EVER AGAIN. I read voraciously. The library is closed because of coronavirus. They have some books online I have been accessing. The book I bought is not online or in any Carnegie branch I have access to. I have bought other books online, but not through bn.com. guess that will continue. ONLY asking for Half Price gift cards in future!

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Commentary on the Book of Revelation

On 4/29/20 I released a book for sale on B&N Press titled "Understanding the Book of Revelation: Translated Literally, Illustrated Lavishly, Interrogated Thoroughly." It is now 5/16 and the book has not yet been printed despite B&N's website which says to expect 3-5 days for a hardcover book to print. I have written four emails and received only delayed and generic responses. I have ordered $400 worth of books and while I am waiting for B&N to actually do its job, I am locked out of canceling my order or uploading any corrections to the text. According to B&N's actions, I just have to sit and wait for them to do their job with no recourse available to me. To add insult to injury, the U.S. Copyright Office requires that I send two copies of my book to the Library of Congress within 30 days of my application. This is now becoming impossible due to B&N's incompetence.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers Magazine and tv channel subscriptions

I'm trying to cancel two auto pay subscriptions on my Barnes and Noble Account: Reader's Digest ($15.00/mo and SundanceNow ($6.00/mo). I'm on autopay using my credit card.

I got into the BN website just fine, but when I tried to get into My Nook Library, all of a sudden, they don't know me. Each time I'd sign in, I got message to sign in. It just kept popping up on the screen every time in entered my user name & password.

I decided to just pretend I forgot my password and request a password change. They emailed me the means to do that. Same thing kept happening: Got into the site ok, until I tried to get into Nook Library to cancel subscriptions. Then, I became a stranger again.

I don't rely on memory, but write down all my passwords, especially after I'm forced to change one.

I entered each of my passwords (old and new) at least 30 times. It appears to me that as long as I'm spending, BN loves me. But when I'm looking to resolve an issue, BN wants nothing to do with me.

I'm being scammed.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers customer service

My name is Selene Rubio. I am a frequent shopper at Barnes and Noble. I got a divorce and decided to open my own membership last year before the holidays under my name rather than my ex husbands ect.. I am at your stores multiple times a month for I have 4 kids and we are always in need of something new to read. When I opened my account I wrote my information down. The person helping me seemed to be in a hurry. I asked her if she needed anything else and she said no. She was going to take the next person in line and submit the rest of my information later. Time went by. About two months ago I tried ordering something online and had a very hard time linking my membership card online. So I gave up. I made my order and received no discount on the books I ordered. The next time I was in the store I asked the cashier if he could see what was wrong with my card. He said there was nothing wrong with it other than the fact that my email had never been added to it. The person who opened my membership didnt do it after I left after all. I have no idea where all my information ended up. I asked him if he could please do it and after glancing up at the line and a loud sigh he said sure. I could sense his frustration so I said nevermind. Embarassed that I would hold up the line I said I'd try it another day. Instead of offering me any additional help he said ok and handed me my books. I cant remember much about him other than the fact that he had curly hair, darer skin, and reading glasses. I went home that day and tried calling the CS line and was on hold for almost an hour. For the fourth time I had no success. Now we are in quarantine. I have four kids at home in need of books. I am about to order online and once again I am unable to use my membership card. I have been on hold at CS once again for over 40 minutes. May I say this is nothing to be blamed on Covid-19 because in the past I have been on hold for so long I usually hang up before anyone gets on the phone. My question is, why did I pay for a membership I have only been able to use twice in the last six months because every time I have reached out for help there is no one there to help. Or they make me feel like I am asking for too much. This is absolutely ridiculous. I went from being a customer for over 15 years to not wanting anything to do with this store again. The location these events happened in was the location in Aliso.
Irvine has exceptional customer service and I wish I lived closer to that location instead. I am extremely disappointed.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers book fair - barnes and noble paid us nothing and rendered no accounting

Barnes and Nobel reached out to our school through email. We didn't call them. Like others who posted here, we solicited parents, made posters, worked hard, attended the event which was VERY busy on a Sunday afternoon, and heard nothing back for two months. When I sent a written request for an accounting of the event, the Maple Grove Minnesota store manager called us at school and told us that our cash register sales totaled $631. He told me we had not made the minimum requirement of $1500. He then asked if our school would like to choose a clearance item from their clearance bin as payment. I kid you not.

I would expect a company as large as Barnes and Nobel to have a process for their book fares. I would expect they would follow a process with a written accounting and follow-through after the event. None of this was offered to our school. The way charitable institutions and third-party fundraisers ask for support affects people's trust and confidence in fundraising. I do not feel that Barnes and Nobel's fundraising program for schools is open, honest or respectful. In fact, their lack of reasonable steps to render any accounting what so ever, might be illegal. Knowing what I know now, I am forced to take reasonable steps to assess and manage the risks fundraising with Barnes and Nobel poses to those parents and friends who chose to take part in our charitable institution's activities. I feel this promotion has harmed my organization's work and reputation.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers auto membership renewal

I have clearly stated to B&N sales clerk that I do not want the membership to be auto-renewed, B&N deducted $27.25 from my bank account to renew annual membership without my permission. After one year later, there was another deduction of $27.25 after I have visited the B&N to stop the auto renewal of B&N. This is a fraud and bad practice by B&N. I am changing my bank card to stop B&N from deducting from my bank account.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers service human resource

Several years ago, 2014 was told I banned from Barnes & Nobles in union Square Barnes & Nobles> I was one or two Times Boisterious but when informed of my behaviour calmed down . The reason I was banned from an incident sitting in the area to the rear of Barnes & Nobles on the Third floor. I never got out of my chair. Quiet at the time A young girl of about eleven passed my table . I heard the ambiguous word like queer. I said there are anti discrimination laws . The young women stopped to hear what I said . She did not have stopI Stated the Anti Discrimination laws of the late 80's nIt is against the law to discriminate on so called race color nationality religion /creed age disability Mental/physical Marital status, perceived sexuality & or Actual Bi, Gay heterosexual, &/or Asexual. I saw her walk to what could be her mother who I think was Russian Or some Eastern European. She made a complaint because I stated the Anti -Discrimination law & I don'T think the manger at that time like the law. It was as though I was a Pervert for saying the Law. I am sure it was investigated. This is not Russia where you have to be 17 in Russia to See Beauty & the Beast. I did not do anything Criminal. They want me to sign this paper which I refused. I have a membership card & have made purchase in the Store at Union Square for the last two years without incident until This Monday the 9th of this month December 2019. Barnes & Noble Booksellers billed for a procedure I didn't have.

Received a bill dated 10-15-19 for a Bone Replace Graft 1st on 7-10-18 for $545.50. I did not have a bone graft. Why am I getting a bill 15 months later for a procedure I didn't have? I would like this bill absolved and a letter from Aspen Dental stating it has been absolved. I called the local office and was told a ticket would be sent. I don't know what that is and why the office couldn't take care of this bill?

Barnes & Noble Booksellers the book "if you give a pig the white house"

Up until recently, Barnes & Noble has shown increasing antipathy toward the incumbent President. This book goes too far. Had you been equally willing to sell material lampooning Barack Obama to this point, I would be saying nothing. You have a decision to make: Either you sell material that is even handed, which means that this vicious parody would be removed, or you continue to show your contempt for both the incumbent President and the American People. It is your choice. If you decide to continue on the path you are on now, you will find yourself losing business in increasing increments. I for one shall be boycotting your establishment. It is quite a disappointment for me. I used to be quite fond of your book store. Do note the past tense.
