Banner Health Family is not being kept in the loop for patient status and poor customer relations.

My husband Marshall Yager, was sent to Banner Desert Hospital by ambulance on June 17, 2020 because of a high fever and not responding to commands. I can't tell you what it is like to see your husband loaded up into an ambulance and never get any information or contact from the hospital as far as his status. They called when they first admitted him and asked some questions which I answered because he was not responding to anyone. He has some memory impairment so he might not have been much help anyway to them if he could communicate. Because of the Covid-19 I was not allowed to ride in the ambulance and not allowed into the hospital. That was about 7PM. At 12:30AM I got a call from my husband asking me where he was and what happened. The nurse dialed the number for him and announced him and that was the last time I ever got a call from the hospital. Later the first day June 18th I called the Nurses station, when he was admitted to the floor, and spoke to his nurse. She was nice but couldn't give me much information. I asked her to have the Doctor call me. That was four days ago now and I still have not heard from any Doctor. When they tell my husband anything he doesn't remember. I have always been his advocate. Two days in I asked for the nurse to call me, she was too busy to talk to me. Day 3 June 19th no call from the doctor or the nurse. Finally I called day 4 June 20th and spoke to the Charge Nurse Missy. I was very frustrated in my speech because no one had called me and given me any update or told me what they had found out, but I did not yell or curse. She only told me that they inserted a foley, which I already knew because he has had one for 3 years now, and they gave him an IV which she was reading from something. She told me to stop interrupting her which I did until she was finished telling me what procedures where done. I told her please tell me something I don't know because I already knew that he didn't have Covid, has a permanent indwelling catheter and a history of Sepsis. I told her I already knew that and I just want to know what the diagnoses or preliminary diagnoses is and what the plan was. I asked her if she knew how frustrating it is to see your husband taken by ambulance and no one ever calls you are tell you anything, to hear nothing and have no one call you back. She told me I was rude for interrupting her and she told me she was ending the conversation and for me not call this hospital back. So now I have no information and I can't call anymore. I don't want to go into any medical detail but my husband has chronic and acute heath issues that are life threatening, cancer of the bladder and prostate cancer. You would think since under the circumstances of the Covid-19 restrictions and you can't be with your loved ones your hospital could be a little understanding, show some empathy and stay in contact with the family.

I want the hospital to have an established policy for keeping family informed and put in their procedures. I want Missy reprimanded, trained on conflict resolution, and an apology from her. Empathy has to come from within her.

Banner Health emergency department

I was instructed to go to the hospital by my provider for a procedure to be performed emergently. Upon arriving at the hospital, I was instructed to go to the Emergency Room and register. After waiting in the ED lobby for over an hour, I was taken back in to the emergency department by a technician. Moments later a PA walked by and asked if I was the patient going for a procedure. I stated that I was and he indicated he would return. Just then, a nurse arrived to take me to pre-op for my procedure.

After my discharge, I received a bill from the hospital and the emergency room provider for care rendered in the emergency department. After providing the details and the provider review of my records, it was determined no care was provided in the emergency department and the provider cancelled their billing. The hospital has remained insistent on charging the hospital emergency room facility charge despite no care being provided.

Banner Health medical staff not taking all medical information because of mother omitting facts

My fiance carrie was taken to community bridges for meth addiction when she was picked up she remembered me fine she self checked out in morning and she disappeared for a few hours and was found on side of road and could not remember her name or any info other then my name so they contacted me. Now she has been in hospital for days and because her mother has power of attorney will not let me see her. She has been giving them incorrect info about her past addiction and she hardly talks to her mom but with amnesia she seems to be ok but the mom at this time. The staff is not having all info about her case is something that needs to be addressed. I understand the laws but they may not be able to discuss her care but that is incompetence to not take information to at least check up on it. I need to find out where carries new power of attorney that was signed last year is, the hospital seems to not. Have it now.

Banner Health wasn't given proper treatment or medication. was ignored for 4 hours.

Dr. James Mead ignored me for 4 hours and refused to give me anything for pain after requesting something for 3 hours. I was involved in a car accident 5 days prior and was returning to the E.R. for complications due to the accident. The accident itself caused a skull fracture, a nasal fracture, stitches in my left eyelid, back pain, and multiple lacerations. Dr. Mead had access to the accident information as well as any lay person could clearly see I was injured and in excruciating pain. Dr.James Meads actions or rather non-actions were completely unprofessional and borderline cruel and unusual. Please don't put ill people into the hands of someone like this.

Banner Health children's er doctor

We took my daughter into the ER saturday december 19th 2015. The doctors who treated my daughter need to be looked at. We were told her ears were clear at the time we were there. We took her to her normal doctor this am and she has a very severe ear infection. Our PED was dumbfounded on how this could have went undetected at the time she was treated. The doctor spent less then five minutes with us that night. She looked in my daughters ears and listened to her breaths. This time last year we took our son in for a very high fever. The same doctor who treated our son treated our daughter. We were told the exact same thing. He was sent home only to be told he had a double ear infection. I cant help but think we aren't the only parents that this has happened too. We as parents are supposed to rely on hospitals to help our children when in need. The doctor who treated my child failed to see she had an ear infection. I will never take a member of my family to this hospital again. We paid close to 200 dollars that night, total rip off. I would love to get my money back. Tyro Edwards Tyro.m.[protected]@gmail.com

This ER is a joke! My son screamed for 2 straight hrs in pain. We hit nurse button and she told my 8year old to be patient and keep it down that he needed to wait for the Dr. 2 hrs of my son screaming in the worst pain and not even as much as a nurse came to check on him but they sire came in to tell him to be quite! I will never NEVER not even if I'm dying go to that hospital again! The second time I have walked up out of there!

Banner Health absolute negligence

In March 2014 I awoke with severe abdominal pain, so bad I was unabe to stand up straight, lie flat, move my legs, or take a full breath. I dont typically have health problems, it was so sudden & severe, so my husband called an ambulance because I was unable to get to the car.
Right off, my nurse was pretty rude and made a comment about making a bigger deal of a "stomachache" than was necessary.
She pushed me down flat, which caused unbearable pain, and told, me to be quiet.
The CT scan didnt reveal any problem, and the dr. decided I must just be constipated. I asked the nurse for help to the bathroom, but she told me that nothing was wrong with me and I needed to do it on my own.
She watched me stumbling down the hall, and made a sarcastic comment to another nurse that I was exaggerating.
I was given laxitives at the hospital, and after that was finished I was in more pain than ever. They then sent me home with a prescription for laxitives, even though I was never actually constipated to begin w
The next day I saw my family dr, who was appalled at the hospital's treatment. e sent me to a different hospital, where I had a thorough workup, was admitted and finally had an endoscopy. It was discovered that I had not only a hernia, but also crohn's disease and subsequent gastritis.
The G.I. specialist informed me that the way I was handled and mistreated at Banner Desert was grossly negligent, and the laxitives only served to strain my hernia and cause worse inflammation with the crohn's and gastritis.
I am really shocked and appalled and a little humiliated, with the way the nurse at Banner Desert treated me. I'm currently filing a direct complaint on the nurse for the abusive treatment.
I would never, ever go to Banner Desert Hospital again in the future, no matter what- It's actually made me very wary and anxious now, any time I have to see a dr. or nurse. When your life or health is in someone else's hands, there's just no room or excuse for this kind of abuse and negligence.

The Emergency Room does not use doctors. They are using medical assistance.
The treatment is very poor. They served water in a flushed rubber cup. A cup that is used, and can be used for urine out put. What a shame, or racial profile, discrimination towards blacks. I am a female African American and I'm taking this way of treatment disturbing.

I took my wife to Banner Desert on Saturday 11/21/15. I had called the paramedics to our house prior to taking her in. They stabilized her and I drove her in. I pulled in to the ER drop off area and went in and asked for help to get my wife out of the care. In the mean time I grabbed a wheelchair and headed back to the car. I had my wife unbuckled from the seat belt, turned around facing the wheelchair, and was waiting for help; "Sean" was the male nurse who came to help. He had no since of urgency and stood there while I moved my wife from the car to the wheelchair. We got inside and after registering waited to be called back. Once we got called back we were given a ER room to go back to; again "Sean" took us back. I asked him to help me get her in bed, he just stood there never helping. I told him I would have appreciated some help and he gave a sarcastic apology.
The ER doctor was good no real complaints there. We were told my wife would be spending the night. When we arrived at her room the nurse Nicole had an attitude when I tried to give her information about my wife. I spoke to the charge nurse who then apologized and assigned a new nurse. After over an hour the new nurse came in. Lindy was the new nurse; she was drawing blood from my wife and it was hurting her to the point my wife told to stop that she (my wife) could not take the pain. Not only did the nurse not stop she pushed the needle in further causing even more pain. I started to ask Lindy questions and she ignored me and started to walk out of the room. I said excuse me I am trying to talk to you and she looked at me and said she would not tolerate this kind of abuse from me. After the first incident I began recording the conversation in my wife's room. At this point I was upset and left the room and found someone in patient services who called the floor nurse Nell for me. When Nell arrived to talk to me about the issues we were having she brought four hospital security guards with her, to Mesa PD, including a K-9. I told her I had the entire conversation recorded at which point she demanded I delete the recording. I told her Arizona is a one party consent state and legally I had every right to record. I was told to delete the recording or we would have to leave the hospital. At that point the hospital used intimidation of force and intimidation or medical treatment denial to get me to delete the recording.

My 93 year old mother has been in the ER at Banner Desert several times and each time we were very concerned at the lack of hygiene in the ER. On one visit wastepaper baskets were overflowing. On another visit we noticed that a nurse placed my mother's full bedpan on a counter top. Shortly thereafter another nurse came in and placed her clipboard on the same countertop. At this last visit to the ER when we took our mother to the only restroom the toilet bowl had feces in the bowl and it couldn't be flushed because a specimen cup had been dropped in the bowl. The bathroom floor has been full of wet paper on each visit. My mother only receives attention when someone comes to take her for another test. I dread going to this ER. My daughter who is a Johns Hopkins MD, PhD says that hospitals want to improve and I should make a complaint that is very specific so that they can improve their practices. I hope that she is right.

I to have suffered at the hands of banner hospital, most times staff is ok but 1 visit, quite recently I went for leg pain and swelling as well as what was thought to be cellulitous an infection in my leg I was sent to have ultra sound of the leg, under normal conditions the ultra sound is not painful however because of the condition of my leg the pain was almost unbearable, I had to be given pain medication just to deal with it. I have extreme tolerance for pain but ultra sounds because of the constant pressure to an already inflamed area brought me to tears and the person giving me the test also said to me when it was over that she felt I was overacting but because she was told that it was cellulitous which she herself had and remembered how painful it was. Then told me she understood why I was crying. I don't recall asking her for her opinion at any time nor did I care to hear how I'm exaggerating about the pain it caused. That was in itself bad enough but almost expected when I have been misdiagnosed 2 times now at banner desert.last time resulting in a stay in hospital and a bill 20, 000 plus to walk out of there in exactly same condition as I went in, and 1 wrong diagnoses at the banner hospital on power rd in az of course, which left me with a blood clot in my leg that eventually caused me to have pulmonary embolism.and un reversible damage to my leg as well. Something needs to be done about these issues and the attitude's of these care takers.
