AuthorHouse - New York Times best seller list

I sent them over $5.8k back in May under the belief that they would get me on the list. I gave them everything I had foolishly in hopes they knew better than I did about book publication. It has been months and they did not contact me, they did not keep me up to date or let me know how everything was coming along. I was pleased with the website and their reach as far as getting my book into stores and what not. But I paid an enormous sum of money for something they never gave. I have asked again and again and again for my money back and now none of them are responding to my e-mails whatsoever. Regardles of everything I have read and how they are treating me now, I still have faith in this company. But I need my money back. They did not fulfill their end of the deal, they had long enough to do it, and I don't appreciate them ignoring my messages. I want my money back, plain and simple. I will still happily remain published through them but this isn't fair. I even messaged Eugene Hopkins multiple times, he has never gotten back to me. I guess my issue isn't of any importance to him.

AuthorHouse - book publishing

I paid $600 for the basic package and just when I thought my book was being set up at he printers for publication, I have been ghosted by Authorhouse. No communication, emails, or answered phone calls. They took my money and ran. I have no expectation of getting my money back but will not spend another dime on this scam. At this point I'm just trying to get some one at customer service to cancel the ten dollar a month Author Learning Center subscription I was fooled into agreeing too. My heart is broken. If these are real people, not computerized trolls, I don't know how they can live with themeslves.

I originally contacted Simon & Schuster but I didn't want to pay $3, 200 so they asked me if I was willing to pay $700 & they referred me to Author House who called me immediately. I paid $700 up front, I assumed that was it until it came time to publish it & they tried to hit me up for another $1300. I refused so they offered me a "soft launch" for $600 which I accepted. This meant no book signings, no interviews etc. (like that was going to happen). The "soft launch" meant it would be available through their website, Barnes & Noble & Amazon which was okay with me. It was on Amazon. I received $107 for royalties six months later & that was it. No more royalties...Out of curiosity I went to Barnes & Noble & asked the clerk where I would find "Diary of an Irish Grandma". He looked it up on the computer & said it was not in stock because Author House has a "no return policy" & they don't stock books they can't return. In other words, the only books I sold were the ones bought by friends & family. There's no way for anyone else to even know it existed. What a disappointment, I spent months writing it & put my heart & soul into it only to find out I'd been conned.

One of the biggest scandal's in America today, is the self-publishing business. We the Authors are scammed out of thousands of dollars every day. Many of us have fought back as well as we can, but they know no one will check up on them. I ask other scammed writers to unite, get a lawyer, split in small sums. No one is going to help us unless we unite and stop this great injustice. Are you with me? batamer2@gmail.com
