Please be advised that in the morning of Monday June 6th, I dropped off 2 dresses at the Manassas location to be dry cleaned. The attendant (Daniela) processed the transaction. I returned to the Manassas location on Wednesday, Jun 8 to find that both dresses were damaged by processes used by your cleaning establishment. The yellow dress (please see attached...

ASAP Cleaners - damaged pants to a suit that were confiscated

To Whom It May Concern:
For years I have had a wonderful experience with ASAP Cleaners until recently. I've patronized ASAP for years without complaint and referred many friends and family until March, 2019, I purchased a beautiful beige pantsuit from a neighboring Consignment store. I purchased it with a plan of wearing it to our statewide church conference in the later part of March, 2019.. I did wear it and very being a light color, and recognizing the prices at ASAP, I decided to get it cleaned upon my return home in Gwynn Oak, MD.
However, when I went to pick the pants up, I noticed a pale whitish spot on the bottom of the pant leg and immediately brought it to the attention of the associate at ASAP Cleaners (Pikesville store). She offered to send them back to the main store in Owings Mills to be cleaned again. A week later, I went to pick them up and was told that they were not able to remove the stain even through the second process of cleaning. The store associate informed me that I could call the store manager, John in the Owings Mills location to inquire about restitution for the pants. I followed her instructions and spoke to John in the Owings store. John told me that the stain appeared to be a stain of bleach and could not be removed. He went further to explain that he machines do not use bleach to remove stains from clothing. I informed him that the suit was purchased nearly new and that there were not any imperfections in the suit upon purchasing it, Additionally, I only wore the suit one time and had it nowhere near a kitchen or any type of stain removing chemicals during the time of the conference.
Mr. John informed me that I needed a receipt for the purchase before he could make a decision on the outcome. A few days later, I submitted a copy of the receipt to him. He returned my call about a week later and I was informed that he would reimburse me $15 for the damaged pants. I was furious to say the least but thought that my argument was meaningless to him. I went to the cleaners and received $15 cash for the damaged pants and was told that I could not receive the pants back as they were to remain the property of ASAP. I am livid because I had no knowledge that by my receipt of the $15 for their damage to my property would relinquish my rights to my pants that were purchased as a suit. Now, I have a jacket without the bottoms. I informed Mr. John of my displeasure of this dilemma and he quickly said, "go buy another pants". I plan to take this situation further.
Despondently submitted,
Dr. Isetta G. Melton
