Arca Solutions eDirectory website - non-functional website and poor customer service

Arca Solutions, Inc (dba as eDirectory) offers amazing packages and services that are nowhere near as functional as advertised if consumers need customizations/modifications (which they will absolutely need). They use predatory and dishonest business practices for exploiting small businesses in exchange for poor quality services and customer service. My website has never been fully optimized, which is why I spent $6,000+ on it to Arca Solutions to bring it up to date. I was told that I would have to pay $197 once or twice a year to update my version with software improvement, which I agreed to with my customizations. I was never told that I would have to pay the $197 plus an additional charge to include every single customization paid back on my website. When I inquired about an update to my website, I was quoted an additional $5,000 to maintain all of my customizations. I would be charged multiple times for the same modification – once to get it done and several times to maintain it with updates. These are far below industry standards and are predatory, as they NEVER discussed this prior to any modifications or platform selection. I have spent money on every single thing, such as changing the font of a color, changing the name of a widget, adding security on payment gateways and integrations (that were included on the website as fully integrate). There is no security on payment gateways. My newsletter widget has not worked since May 2021 and they have yet to fix or address it. I requested to export and back up my website for my own records and was told that I have to get a paid customization to back up my photos – they are a directory software and charge to back up photos for listings and to back up all of the content again not disclosed anywhere on their site. They refuse me full access to my information back up my content and source code.

Desired outcome: export my FULL data (listings, classifieds, IMAGES, IMAGES, IMAGES, BLOG)!

Has sold me a website that had full of bugs!
1 made me upload lots of data which I worked for weeks to create
2 and after I have upload it all, it was not searchable by people who used the site!
3 their customer service were very rude, and was not able to solve any of my problems!
4 after you buy the software they don't answer the phone, after few days that they do answer the phone
They are rude, and unable to solve any issues!
5 I have spent thousand of $ adverting, getting data base to upload and nothing works properly!
I am telling you guys not to buy it

Arca Solutions Edirectory - produto extremamente defeituoso, suporte só de péssima qualidade.

A arcasolutions tem sido uma empresa completamente desorganizada e desleal. Investi cerca de R$5.000, 00 e o produto não funciona direito. O suporte não resolve os problemas e é extremamente lento.

Investi em e-mail marketing, vídeo de lançamento entre outros app's paralelos que contratei para lançar meu produto. Mobilizei parceiros e clientes para fazer apresentação do meu site. Mas, nem mesmo pude lançar o site, porque o sistema não funciona direito. Acumulei prejuízo e perda de tempo.

Como a maioria das pessoas me encantei a primeira vista, mas, quando a experiência me mostrou a quantidade de erros grotescos que o sistema possui, e ainda pior com o descaso do suporte técnico...

Me sinto roubado e feito de palhaço.

O último contato que recebi do suporte técnico foi a 13 dias atrás. Transcrevo abaixo:

São ótimos apenas no marketing. Após 13 dias não deram nenhuma satisfação e o problema não foi corrigido. Como se o cliente fosse um vagabundo que não tem o que fazer.

A promessa foi de me entregar o produto funcionando em 2 dia, já está fazendo 3 meses. Cada vez mais percebo que estão tirando o corpo fora e me deixando sem resposta e sem o produto que comprei funcionando adequadamente.

Os principais erros do meu site acontece também na versão demo deles, o que indica que muitos outros clientes devem ter esses os mesmos problemas graves, sem mesmo terem percebido.

Por exemplo, você pede para o módulo de evento exibir os eventos de hoje, e ele da como resultado eventos de qualquer dia de 3 anos atrás.

Estou relatando aqui apenas um pouco da dor de cabeça que esta empresa me causou. As vezes quando retornam, se desculpam, prometem melhora rápida, mas nada melhora. A cada dia o meu projeto afunda, está ficando desacreditado antes mesmo de nascer.

Como paguei e ainda sou cliente, espero ter meu site funcionando perfeitamente, mesmo que eu não possa mais dar continuidade ao meu projeto, pois já conseguiram destruí-lo.

Arca Solutions Unethical service

I gave these guys close to $2, 000 several months ago. You would think that I would get the service that their junior sales guys promised. Instead, I agree with person who said that the project manager was full of HOT AIR. This guy was talking in circles at every step. I still have not received the service that they promised and have sent several complaints, only to be ignored.

Their tactics have proven to be very unethical with a grab your money and run. They don't appreciate the meaning of a customer, trust or relationships. My next step is to demand for my money back and I want every penny back. We'll see how far I get given that they are located overseas.

Arca Solutions Poor Service

There is no manual and no one to assist with a very cumberson directory software product. While the price is okay, it seems as though service could be better. I have called several times with set up questions only to get a partial answer. The templates are loud and tacky; the software has poor functionality and in the end, it is a tough business to get into. Using a directory without the proper set up is a waste of time and effort and I am looking to get out.

Arca Solutions made so many mistakes on the development requests that I had that I finally asked for my money back. Their team is off shore someplace and it strikes me that they are entry level. If you are up for allowing your site to be used as a training ground, have it. For me, I paid too much money and wouldn't recommend this outfit.

I have purchased their software and it is running perfectly. I have received an excellent service and they were always very prompt in answering all their replies.

If you do not have enough background on websites, then you have to practice using the software, upon all directories software I have searched I find edirectory is the most userfriendly and well thought off.

I asked them to make a new template but they were very honest they said that designing a template while they are offshore will be difficult and very costy and hence I made a designer make the design and they applied the software to it as perfect as could be.

Just try to get someone to help you who speaks a lick of English. It won't work with edirectory since they seem to be an offshore company. That aside; the software needs to be customized out of the box. That's where they get you. They spent more time selling me on how I should purchase their extra services than they spent on helping me getting up and running with the existing program. Too expensive and too many so called options with a big price tag.

Arca Solutions Faulty Product and Services

I have been ripped off. I purchased Arca Solutions edirectory software product. I then paid a few thousand dollars in having them customize it for me. They took my money and created error upon error upon error. I was patient, however, since they are hiring college kids in Brazil.

When I wanted a copy of the new release, they told me that my custom work would be gone (how can they not have a way to save this when they are hosting my site and they created the code). They would then have to charge me another 3 grand to make the same changes from my original request.

The product fresh out of the box is hideous. It's circa 1999 - loud, confusing. If they can't accommodate their customers, they should just sell software and get out of the customization business. I would have been better off finding a local php developer.

I paid the money for the enterprise source code version, and the company gave me the application, when I tried to install it, it had some bugs, and took till now 24 days and I didn't got my application installed or not even got the fixed source code,

they are too late in replying the support and no one is helping me in running the application.

Every single time they do a customisation, they screw it up, it is always untested, and breaks something else on the website. It will take months to get the new bugs fixed which will result in new bugs and so on and forever! They will just take your money and give you poorly thought out and untested customisations that will break your website.

I am uncertain how they can be so bad? Are they hiring kids? Are they half drunk? Some of the mistakes they make during customisation are so obvious that all they had to do was literally test their own customisation to see if it works.

If you plan on buying their website and making absolutely no changes maybe it will be ok, maybe? Otherwise stay away!

My website was hacked. The PHP code used in eDirectory is not secure and it is outdated. We found files from 2005 (over a decade!), none of my usual developers wanted to touch on it due to the quality of the code.

Terrible Support that are not there to help, guide or assist you. Instead of finding a solution to suit both parties, they only show their greedy face by forcing you to purchase a yearly support plan if you want to get anything from them, even if it is just a piece of information about their low quality software.

eDirectory is a very insecure system and we, the users, can't do anything about it. The developers? They can't be bothered either. All they want is to point you to a sales representative to get you paying the support plan that they are looking for.

The code, oh the code! I found files in the system from 2005 (yes, over a decade) while most haven't been updated in 2 years. The system only runs in PHP 5.6 which is well know for its vulnerabilities and there wasn't any effort to make it compatible to PHP 7.X. Elasticsearch and Symfony (the system's framework) are also older than 2 years. We found an upload script from 5 years ago and it has been updated until this year by its author, but not by eDirectory team for example. There are many more to name.

My eDirectory website was hacked: https://dns.d.pr/Tee3Sl and I was able to restore a backup quickly and within 10 minutes, my website was back online.

When I reached out support to guide me on how to change the database user's passwords, they sent me the instructions which were incomplete. I contacted again and they said "sorry, we forgot to mention one file". I followed all the instructions but still, the website started to give an error as soon I changed the user's password so there are certainly more locations to change the database credentials and the developers refuse to tell me where I can find it.

At the end they refused to give me any kind of support unless I pay them $399 / year for a support agreement. I understand they rely on support plans to keep their development going but... what development? The system has been stagnated, there are no updates and they are asking me to pay $399 for a piece of information that should be in a manual (which they don't have) or in their documentation? I am sorry but this is a greedy approach.

Do you want a great directory system? Search for Brilliant Directories and you can't go wrong with them. Great support and the system is constantly updated and well maintained.

July 22, 2017, Same problems I have today. I bought the source code and had to pay a developer $1000 to just try to get the source code I paid for to work and transferred to my own AWS server. They answer maybe 1 in 4 questions in support. If they don't have an answer or don't want to respond they just don't answers regardless of submitting the same questions 3 times. We would have been much better off just developing from scratch a web site. Maybe just use their hosting bought dont buy their source code or dont try their custom development. They missed deadlines promised by 4 weeks. There are still bugs in the product in 2017. Their web site support page has screen shots and samples from years ago that do not match the current version. Stay away from eDirectory.

I have just sign-up for a hosted solution and I must say things are good at the beginning, fast support reply and the site is also fast but I'm busy for a few days now to point my domain to the IP address and it is not working, support on this take 4 days now and still my domain is not pointing to the IP address! why must this take so long? I did this maybe a thousand times before and never have such a problem...

I'm thinking to stop with this before it drives me crazy! And Tom I will mail you and hope you can finally solve this in a few hours... just point a domain to my other script and was active in less the 3 hours!

Sorry to say this but I am very disappointed and have to agree with many of the negative comments.
I have emailed them to fix bugs and glitches in the site and also to correct design faults. Every time all I get is this is "customisation" and will cost $200 per 3 hours... i asked for one very simple development and they quoted me $2400! Seriously! And this was to fix something that simply does not work as it should.
The basic system is good but to take the site to the next level is impossible or super expensive.
Their support team do not understand basic queries, this may be a language thing or a poor training issue, often they say the question is to "technical" and someone else will reply soon (and they don't) or they pass the query to the sales guy who will call you and try to sell you customisation every time.
I would say that the "off the shelf" product has been designed well but I think it has deliberate limitations and issues to force users to pay to fix them. I also know that some of their so called customer sites showcased on their website are fake!
I really like my site and a lot of the system, so it is a real shame that their "customer care" is so bad.
If they have 2500 happy customers then where are they? I don't see any of them on here defending Arca / eDirectory.
IF YOU HAVE A GOOD SITE BY THEM THEN POST IT HERE AND PROVE ALL THIS NEGATIVE FEEDBACK TO BE UNBALANCED.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT!

Now I am worried. I was almost ready to purchase and see all these comments. Well... I do thank everyone for taking their time to warn others. I am specially concerned to see only one comment from edirectory and in a way minimizing the complaints by saying "only 5" complaints have been posted. That is a scary attitude. I guess I will keep on researching the topic.

No one is confused here Tom, everyone here is talking about Arca, trying to hide behind another bad company is shameful. Company wide changes seem to happen every time you upgrade a version.
I have personally spent many thousands on customisation work to my site and now I am left with a whole heap of errors your 'Project Manager' will not even bother to respond to.
If you are thinking about buying this script DONT, shop around, the after sales service is terrible, the design work pathetic and the coding is full of bugs. There is no QA - none, you will be doing it yourself time and time again.
