Company Ignores Warranties
Ampac Paving is great when they are in sell mode. They are responsive, they show up on time etc but once they have your final payment, you will NEVER get these folks to return your call if you have a problem. My driveway heaved the first winter after Ampac Paving excavated and paved it. I have sent multiple emails to the email address on the Ampac Paving website advising of the problem - no response. I have left voicemails on the phone number listed on their website requesting a call back - no response. I even visited their "suite" at 9251 Yonge Street only to find that the suite listed on their website, business card and contracts as being 8565 does not exist. Ampac Paving gave me a one year written warranty. Unfortunately, that warranty isn't worth the paper that it's printed on. Ampac Paving knows how to hide real good! Use them with extreme caution!
I posted a complaint with the BBB months ago but I have not heard back. I had 3 inches of heaving the first winter after the driveway was paved. I have asked other pavers about this problem and the opinions received to date are that the driveway was not excavated deep enough to remove "bad" backfill like clay etc. The driveway needs to be scraped, re-excavated and repaved - this is an expensive repair that will require at least 2 days of labour. I have emailed pictures to Ampac several times. I did not have any problems getting an immediate response either by email or phone when I was asking for quotes or contracting them so I know that they keep an eye on their email and voicemail

The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Consumer's Original Complaint to the Better Business Bureau (who did nothing by the way):
Charlie is the sales person. They did the excavation and new asphalt of the driveway July of 2009. We
paid $2000 + $100 GST COD. There is a standard 1 year warranty. My complaint is that there are
approx. 5-6 large cracks now, mostly in the middle of the driveway. In the winter they heave and look
much wider (I have photos to illustrate this). I spoke to AMPAC's owner, Mike Corbo on his cell phone
approx. 8 weeks ago about this issue and he asked what I wanted done. I said I wanted the cracks
repaired as they seem unusual for such a young driveway based on the internet research I had done and
speaking to neighbours who'd had the same work done. I have yet to hear back from him despite leaving
at lease one-two messages each week. I even spoke to his cousin John of THE SEALER PEOPLE, who
sealed our driveway in 2010. He said he spoke to Mike who said he will not do anything to fix the
problem. Since John considers us his customer also, he has said he will try to contact Mike a second
time on my behalf. That last call I made to John was approx. 2 weeks ago. Our concern is that these
cracks will continue to expand each winter and after 5-10 years the asphalt will begin to crumble,
degrading the driveway to such a degree that the driveway will need to be re-done.

Now the middle of the bottom end of the driveway has a crack 2ft. long and 1/4" wide at its center plus new cracks and the older ones getting worse. This driveway looks 10 years old rather than 3.
I wonder if there are other customers out there who have had the same problem with AMPAC. Have you posted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau?
i have the same problem with ampac. they paved my driveway in 2011. driveway heaved over the winter. ampac's owner, Mike, will not return calls or emails
