Alliant Energy Service truck driver

Hello:

On [protected] at about 09:45 one of your truck drivers came close to causing a wreck on 35th st NE in Cedar Rapids between Oakland rd and C Ave.

The vehicle CQR-059 was directly in front of me driving about 10mph with his flashers on. I followed the truck for about 1/4 mile and then attempted to pass him. At that instant the truck crossed over the center lane of the 2 lane road and almost caused a collision with my vehicle. Then he proceeded to park facing the wrong way on 35th st NE.

It willl be tough to convince me that the driver has any business:

1) not observing traffic out his rear view mirror

2) has any legitimate business parking on the wrong side of the road.

Jim Walker

Desired outcome: initiate a remedial safety course for your CDL drivers involved with traffic and parking rules and the use of rear view mirrors

Alliant Energy Electricity

I have been on budget billing for a couple of years now. I have had only 2 bills that were the same since October 2022. In November I I had $500+ credit and nothing was due. I assumed it was some heating assistance extension from last year. Then December $300+ credit, January $80+ credit. Although I had credit and my bill said $0 amount due I paid $100 on o e if those months and $50 on another hoping to stay ahead a little. Then I. Billed $121 however in the amounts billed due and ECT section I was $500+ or $600+in the hole. How does budget billing get so screwed up that all of a sudden I have $700 due. I will atta h the bill amounts I received that I copied from my emails. I don't care if I have credit or money due BUDGET BILLING is the same amount each month regardless. Am I wrong? I ended up having to pay $698 and had $700 in bank. This company has some really messed up billing techniques that screws people and they need to be stopped and regulated! Or does the gov get a kick back from them too?

Desired outcome: Company get a different billing technique and stop screwing with people's heads. There's nothing that will be done I know but I felt the need to warn others about their budget billing.

Alliant Energy Resident electric

Today I attempted to call Alliant Energy, out of Madison, WI, and turn power on in my name at mine and my girlfriend's new apartment. I had a past due balance, so they wouldn't let me get it turned on in my name unless I put some money down. Not a big deal. Completely understandable. However, we decided to try and have her put the power in her name. She called them up, and some guy told her she needed to call a different electric company, one that is in a completey different state. So I called them, and they were confused, told me they do not service my address or any address in my city and that they get that a lot. So in my eyes, it looks like some guy is either too uneducated in his line of work to have any clue what he's doing, or, he's doing this on purpose to waste people's time and because he's very lazy and does not want to work but wants to sit around and get paid. Which seems like the more appropriate assumption considering the lady at the out-of-state power company said that she gets that often. Stop wasting people's time. Be more professional. Hire people who want to work. Not these [censored]s who have no idea what they're doing. I'm surprised the man didn't tell her to just call the FBI and get it hooked up. I'm just left flabbergasted at the unprofessionalism. Not to mention, everyone who lives in my city knows there's only one power company. Alliant Energy. They most definitely take advantage of the fact that everyone has to go through them to get power in our area. I was paying $400/month for electricity during the winter time in our last house. It's absolutely absurd how they can get away with charging whatever they want. $400/home with about 70,000 people in the city... Yeah they're bringing in millions of dollars and not cutting anyone a break, and then we have to deal with idiots like this in their customer service department. Today's date is 03/29/2023 and this happened at around 1:30PM cst. If things don't get resolved and I can't get power turned on in my name because of some lazy dude who keeps giving us the run around, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and the corporate office itself. Absolutely absurd.

Desired outcome: Just turn my power on. Stop giving us the run around when you know as well as the rest of us that nobody else in town can get power from any other company than you're greedy incompetent and unprofessional company.

Is Alliant Energy legit?

Our verdict: Complaints Board's thorough examination reveals Alliant Energy as a legitimate entity with notable strengths. Despite a 4% resolution rate on customer complaints, which invites a closer look, Alliant Energy stands out for its commitment to quality and security. Clients considering Alliant Energy should delve into its customer service record to gauge compatibility with their expectations.

Alliant Energy earns 91% level of Trustworthiness

Perfect Trust Endorsement: Alliant Energy achives 91% ligitmacy per Complaints Board. Highly recommended, yet always stay vigilant.

We found clear and detailed contact information for Alliant Energy. The company provides a physical address, 2 phone numbers, and 2 emails, as well as 4 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.

The age of Alliant Energy's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

Alliantenergy.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.

We looked up Alliant Energy and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information

However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:

  • While Alliant Energy has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 4% of 64 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
  • Website's registrar is popular among scammers, it means that a significant number of scammers have used that registrar to register domain names for their fraudulent websites. This can indicate that the registrar has lax verification processes, making it easier for scammers to register domains without providing accurate information.
  • Alliant Energy protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.

Alliant Energy Power shut of after 20 days of filling error

on 3/27/2023, aliant vshut off power to busines. i have two accounts same address one for residence and one for business. payments for both accounts went through residence on march 3, . 20 days later they shut down business. I feel this was to short a time to shut down business. they did send a letter to residence. Looked just like bill and was placed in bill file. They also called on phone that is not monitored. complaint is if given billing cycle the error would have been discovered. what is rush! paid bill 30 years one mistake and your screwed. im glad banks dont have same policy on repo of auto. I guess you can get away with if monopoly and no oversite. Alliant was fine with holding on to extra $454.00. Funny they never made any attempt to contact me about that. You would think with todays technology something would send red flag. Now i will be receiving disconnect and reconnect charge. If i was out of town real damages could have been incurred. Seems like you have a oneway rush. If Alliant energy had any competition i would have told them to pack their bags, but if there was competition they would not treat people this way.

Desired outcome: Respect for others

Alliant Energy Power outage dec. 15, 2022 - lack of solution

We've been without electricity for 19 hours now. Alliant corrected the outage situation for our close neighbors, but neglected to repair the outage for our elderly (& disabled) neighbors and our home.

We reported this 6 times today. When we call to check on repairs we are dismissed, lied to, and ignored - only given false statements that were proven to be outright lies because the actions promised were not executed or attempted.

Power was restored to our neighbors around noon today, however the repairmen did not finish their job on our road because they ignored us and our elderly/disabled neighbors. It's freezing cold outside and we're still without power now when everyone else's power around us has been restored except the 2 of our houses are ignored!

Disgusting and completely unacceptable to be treated this way.

Desired outcome: Fix our outage and restore our electricity immediately as we've asked. For our house and our elderly/disabled neighbors

Alliant Energy Scam Bullying Charges

We are trying to get solar to our property and we keep getting bullied to pay more for random things to get us to not have solar. We are working with a great solar company and they are fighting for us but we still seem to find random "charges" for new reviews or structure updates to the grid that we shouldn't need to pay for. We have complied to every thing they ask but they still come back with something new for us to pay for every time. Now they want us to pay for them boring a new line even though our service incoming is not changing and we are not pushing any energy back to the grid. This is beyond ludicrous and an obvious attempt to bully us for more money since we are switching to solar. Money hungry and thievery.

Desired outcome: I should not have to pay for grid updates for something that is not affecting them. We are not sending any electricity back we just want our solar. I ask that they quit bullying and monopolizing on us.

Alliant Energy Natural gas

I am a new customer, who has been trying to get natural gas at my property for months now. I finally got someone to come out to my land, talk to me about some things, and give me a service agreement with the breakdown of costs. I was told on the following Monday/Tuesday, that I would have a bill emailed to me which I would need to pay in full before any service would be started. The service agreement that myself and the Alliant representative signed was around $2k.

I got a call the next week from an engineering technician stating that he messed up the measurement, and the price was going to go up an additional 2k! He then stated that the measurement error was due to pure laziness, since he did an AERIAL MEASUREMENT instead of taking half an hour to go out to my property and do an actual measurement.

I am extremely frustrated. I have left 3 messages for a manager, none of which have been returned. The service that I received has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. I would definitely suggest going through a different company if you can.

Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response, and for Alliant to cover the difference in cost due to the employees laziness and errors, along with the promise for a call back almost 5 business days ago.

Alliant Energy alliant billing

Was assessed late fees because Alliant changed its billing and I continued paying monthly bills according to my monthly schedule that has by practice been always acceptable -- without incurring fees. I requested change in due date to accommodate my schedule and Alliant said could not make change. I demonstrated that change could be made and it eventually was without informing me. Alliant also claimed could not credit my bill despite the fact that I'd previously received credits and since the change have had credits to my bills. Summary, Alliant said could not change billing cycle and could not do credit. I've experience both personally, so I know that Alliant has lied to me regarding both matters. Credit my bill.

Alliant Energy late fee

In November, we did not receive a bill from Alliant Energy. We did not notice until after the bill was due. My husband called alliant, and they sent a reprint bill, which we paid. The next month on our bill was a late fee of combined total $1.26. My husband called Alliant and requested that they remove the late fee, as we have always been on time with our payments for almost 30 years. The woman told him that she would make the request. We paid the December bill minus the late fee, hoping that it would be taken off. We did nothing about it in January, and now February's bill still has the late fee, which is accumulating. I called tonight to ask that it be removed and was told that he could not. I get emails from the USPS for what I am getting in the mail each day. I never got an email showing any mail from Alliant energy in November when the first bill would have come. However it got lost in the mail, I don't know, but we did not get it. Most companies will give a courtesy waiver of fees one time. We are politely asking that you please remove the late fee. Again, we have always been on time with our payments. We feel that it is the kind thing to do as a company for a good customer.

Alliant Energy energy

We had a payment arrangement in March for an amount with budget billing from our previous home. In April, we had an issue signing up for Automatic payments. I logged in and signed up but they waited to start until the following month, thus making us behind in payments by a month. We caught up and continued to pay our bills. In the summer, my husband received a call saying that our electricity was going to be shut off. We had received NO bill, letter and payments were on time. Once we pointed out we had a payment plan with them, they apologized and set it back up.

In September, I called because our payments were due at random times. So again, missed our payment date. I had cancelled our autopay back in the summer because they clearly had no idea what they were doing if they were going to shut off our electricity and I didn't trust them to pull out the correct amount and instead the full balance from previous address.

At that time I asked the woman to put us back on our plan and to have a set date on the 27th of each month AND to mail us our bill. That never happened. No payments were scheuded on the 27th and we never received a bill. We didn't get a bill at all in November ( I logged on to look on the 27th) and paid December 2nd bill. I figured okay, it's messed up from October payment and it's set on the 2nd... whatever.

So I logged on January 6th to pay our January 2nd bill only to find out we had ANOTHER bill in December on the 30th.. I called in to figure out why nothing I had talked about in September was going through...I got off the phone and they said our "3 chances" at a payment arrangement were done and we have to pay $500 balance now. I was told that it is my responsiblility to call and tell them that we were still not receiving our bill... because calling two other times and asking for this is my fault.

I have 2 kids, a full time job and I don't have time to call every week to remind them to do their job and do what I ask. It's absolutely ridiculous. I have NO issue paying my bill but it's hard to know when it's due when they change it and don't tell you when to pay it. We pay all of our bills on time and eery bill is due on the same time every single month. Why is it so hard for them to mail a bill and have it due at the end of the month?

Alliant Energy meter reading

When they walked into our backyard, they never shut the gates. We have dogs and they got out. We spent all day and they are still missing. I need a response from someone soon. This is heartbreaking for my family. I cNt believe that you guys would do this to our family. Not only have you jacked up the prices, but you cost us something priceless. Hope you guys are happy, because we are devastated. I doubt anyone reads this.

Alliant Energy energy disconnect

In July I paid my payment on time on my payment agreement they pulled it out of my account days late after another bill pulled and then sent me a disconnect notice for one week for $900+ I tried to reason with them to let me a smaller amount they would not reason, this was also the Friday before the Fourth of July so Monday Tuesday and Wednesday everything was closed so I technically only had 3 days to get the 900$, I then decided to switch it into a different name until I was able to pay, they wouldn't allow me too without the landlords word so then the landlord called and they still would not allow it to be changed, I then had my daughters therapist call and say if it is shut off there will be issues with my daughters mental health, they still did not accept that. So on the last day I was able to get any help I went to 4 different agencies to help. Fast forward to now, September. I called and paid my payment ON TIME they said it would take 1-3days to pull, they didn't pull it until the fourth day, 10 minutes after Hulu pulled their money so my acct was short 10$ So it was sent back so I rushed to the bank and deposited 30$ and called and told alliant them to "pull it again" they refused to then sent a disconnect notice for 1000$ which was the remainder of our bill. So TWICE THEY broke our payment agreement, not me. And each time they refuse to assist us in anyway.

Alliant Energy terrible service!!!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced! My electricity was turned off today because of their error! They had my house (which we own) listed as a rental, and the other 'apartment' didn't pay their bill. So they shut off the electric, and refuse to come back until 24-36 hours later to turn it back on! after endless phone calls with anyone who we could get through to-they refused to help! Why should i have to pay for all new groceries? How do i explain to my 4 year old why we don't have electricity? This is absolutely ridiculous, and i will be reaching out through Facebook, Twitter, and any other source that will listen!

Alliant Energy electric

Our power was shut off because of an overdue balance. The problem certainly doesn't start here, but rather after we paid the balance off. Our power has been out for a week now, and we continue to call them, inquiring as to why they have not turned out power back on. We have been told every time that someone will be there "today" to reconnect our power, and yet nobody shows up. We have thrown away $2, 000 worth of food, and I have lost many clients of my own due to my inability to do my work which is mostly computer based. I am losing money and clients because Alliant is refusing to send anyone to reconnect our electricity. And since it is now the weekend, we are going to be waiting at least another two days. I am very much considering suing for damages, and for potential fraud. We have paid them, and they are not supplying what we are paying for.

Alliant Energy customer service

On 3/15/19 I called to report a power outage. Horrible customer service! I was on the phone for 4 minutes trying to bypass all the junk offered by the automated service representative.
Customers with service issues should be a top priority with Alliant Energy! I will also add the customer who's address they are calling about should NOT have to give the last four (4) digits of their social security number.
The customer service department was at one time very good, not any more!

Alliant Energy electric service for tenants

My husband and I own an apartment building with 2 tenants. The tenants are supposed to put the electric into their name when they move in. I have assumed they have done that because I never got any communication from Alliant suggesting otherwise.

just recently, one of the tenants happened to give me the mail that was addressed to me but going to their address. It showed a past due balance.

When I called customer service, they informed me that neither apartment had put the bill in their name and it is now almost 12 months overdue.

When I asked if there was a way that we could be notified when bills were past due, she said no that notification would be disconnect notices. however, apparently someone can go 12 months without paying their bill and still not get disconnected.

When I asked for help working out a payment plan for what was obviously a miscommunication on all parts, she said no. My choices were to have it sent to me to give to the tenants or have them put it in their name. now, obviously, the bill is overdue so it is unlikely that Alliant will even allow the tenants to put it in their name.

We also work with Stoughton utilities who does send us a notification only if bills are late so that we can get on top of it. It seems like their should be something like that with Alliant but according to who I talked to, no.

I have been a customer for 13 years and never had a problem. Just think the unwillingness to even try to help was unacceptable. If I had her name, I would say she should be fired.
