Alabama Department Of Human Resources / Dhr.Alabama.gov - Dekalb County Alabama

My name is Laura Simmons my grandchildren are in foster care. They hve been there for 6 months. their mother is facing prison time for several charges. I hve not been given a chance to get the kids. I want to get them home. I love them and they love me. I've been told that I can't get them due to the fact that I got in trouble 15 years ago. I told the case worker that im willing to do color code and any classes or programs they have to offer. but still im not given a chance. I know I can pass everything they check with the home study. I hve a hundreds or more character witnesses that have seen me with the kids. I've never ever had a DHR case. I'm good to the kids and they hve everything they need Whn they are here with me. I've lived here their whole life. This is home to them. some of my character witnesses are foster parents. they know me and seen with the kids. I also hve a daughter that will be a character witness. I'm not trying to get the case worker in trouble. I know there are laws and rules and I'm thankful for them. but I see no reason why I can't get the kids. please can someone help me. there isn't one thing I wouldn't do to get them anything you ask me I'll do it. it's almost Christmas and it will be the first one without them. ive seen them 2 times in 6 months. I hve had a hard time with this. I've seen other grandparents walk right in and get their grandkids within days. I know I hve a record from years ago but Whn can I stop being judged from that. I'm sorry for that and ive been forgiven by God for it. And God knows how sorry I am for it. because after all these years it still messes me up. because I really do want to get my grandchildren home. please help me please. the case worker is Cassidy hood. she is a nice person but I don't think she is giving me a fair chance to prove myself. if a parent with a record can do all the steps and get them back then why can't I do the same. I'm the only grandparent they have. I don't want them to grow up in foster care please I am begging for your help. I seen the resolved and unresolved cases at the beginning of this post but that does not stop me from trying. in fact I'm never going to stop trying. they are my grandkids and I want them home where they belong. I can't do it alone I need your help

Desired outcome: I want my grandkids home with me

Alabama Department Of Human Resources / Dhr.Alabama.gov - Failing child support

June 14th my child support payments were reinstated by Judge Perryman, and I directly delivered such paperwork to dhr and asked if there was anything else I needed to complete in order to get my payments started back promptly. Four months have gone by and I have called and visited the dhr office seeking answers for why no with holding order was sent. As of today, 10/3, after just speaking with a worker, she told me a with holding order was sent TWO days ago. Why? I'm struggling right now and my 4yr old son who will be starting Pre-K in two weeks needs desperately new clothes and shoes, it's all I can do to pay my bills at the moment. My lawyer, Jake Key, even went to this dhr and hand delivered the same paperwork as I did on 6/17. And requested for the with holding order. Now I will file for back support and I want a response from someone as to why it has been 4 months. Also leaving messages for a worker at this place is a waste of breath . I'm very distressed and unsatisfied with the lack of promptness and regaurd help me. Very poor service. Employee evaluations should be conducted if this branch ever has a hope of optimal outcomes of service. I've never had a pleasant experience with any of the staff here. They are unmotivated, unmannered, and unpleasant to deal with.
