Age Discrimination — Age Discrimination
My mother has worked for Lowe's over five years now as a part time employee wanting to work into a full time position. Over those years of employment and great reviews they had a number of full time openings. Note she made it aware that she wanted a full time position because of her financial position with her bills at home. And since my father had passed on, it has been hard for her to maintain the income that they had when he was alive.My mother has management experience in restaurant and residential mobile home parks of fourteen years in both fields. Lowe's has filled full time positions over and over again to the younger employees from ages to 18 to 30 years of age my mother is the age of 71 now. Also she had put in a vacation for the fourth of July as she does every year to spend time with her grand kids and was told nobody employed with Lowe's can take a vacation during the holidays and was refused her vacation. She found out later that a younger employee was given that same vacation date and my mother had put in for her's a month pryer to the younger employee that was granted her vacation. Mom was hired to be an operator for Lowe's at the beginning of her employment and that position was taken from her without notice for another employee and was promised it would be given back when the other employee retired. The other employee will be retired in two more months and my mother was now told that they no longer need an operator and they are doing without one. Mother was sick for two months and was told by FMLA insurance that she had over 200 hours of sick leave coming. So she asked HR if she can get that sick pay and was told that they only give that to full time employees not part time employees. Note my mother had worked 24 to 35 hours a week over a period of five years and requested full time employment time and time again and because she is 71 years and was told she is a hard worker as well as great with customers with great reviews she will never get a full time position. I feel that this is age discrimination and Lowe's should be accountable for these actions against not only my mother but other employees working for the company "LOWE'S HARDWARE." Can you help find an attorney to that will address this problem and allow this to stop for all employees that have the same problems.My mother has worked very hard all her living days and told our family that she wants to work and enjoys the customers at Lowe's and working with people. she is very healthy for her age and active as if she is in her thirties.
