Abbotsford Hotel Canada both service and product.

I booked this hotel due to the pictures and the description of amenities it is also listed as a 3 star hotel. The second I walked into the lobby after a 10 hour drive I instantly was horrified to remember I had gotten duped into booking with this hotel for a second time.
I am going to start off telling you my first experience then I will go onto the most recent one. February 09, 2018 trip number [protected] I booked this hotel because it advertised a pool, hot tub, and sauna as well as free breakfast. It was everything I was looking for and the price was right. When I arrived again after a very long drive the girls at the front desk were incredibly rude. They had a sign on the resister stating the pool hot tub and sauna were unavailable so instantly I was irritated given that was the biggest reason I booked with them. Then they tried to charge me $50 more than the reservation was. I argued with them for a while and even showed them the booking confirmation with the final amount including taxes and fees. They argued for a long time until I was so exhausted I just gave in. In addition to that they also charged me a $100 deposit.. What? I wasn't notified of this when booking my reservation. Again I was so exhausted I finally just gave in.

When I got into the room it was NOTHING like the pictures online. The carpets, and bedding were disgusting. The carpet had a big stain that looked like blood to me. It appeared the bedding hadn't even been changed and when I pulled back the comforter there was a used condom in the sheets and hair. I was soo disgusted. I called the front desk to ask for some fresh bedding and they refused. At this point I am so tired I just cant argue any longer and luckily I had a sleeping bag and some of my own bedding in the car. So I brought that in and set it up on top of the comforter. There was a big hole in one of the walls that looked like someone had punched through and also holes that looked liked bullet holes to me. By this time I'm not even feeling safe at all but too exhausted to do anything about it and the surrounding hotels were booked. When I went into the bathroom to get a shower again the bathroom had hair all over the shower and there was black mold growing on the ceiling. Luckily I had some baby wipes in my car and ended up forgoing the shower due to the complete lack of cleanliness. Despite me requesting a non smoking room due to allergies it felt like I walked into a cloud of cigarette smoke and staying in an ash trey. When I finally went to bed inside my own sleeping bag on top of the comforter I was rudely awakened at around 1 a.m by a woman screaming in the room next to me. When I finally was aware of what was going on I could hear a man and woman in the next room and the man was beating up the woman. I immediately called the front desk very concerned and told them what was going on. They rudely told me it was non of my business. I told them it was my business because there was no way I would be able to sleep with a woman being brutally beaten in the room next to me. They told me they would take care of it. This carried on for another 15 min before I called the front desk again and told them there was a woman being seriously hurt in the room next to me and they needed to call the cops. Again they told me it was none of my business. I ended up calling the front desk a third time with them telling me again it was none of my business and to quit calling them regarding this issue. The beating continued to happen until I called the police myself. By the time the police arrived it was 2 a.m. and by the time the police took my statement and all the commotion ended it is now 4 a.m. I needed to be up and out the door by 6 a.m. I am beyond frustrated at this point. Plus it turns out that these people next to me were one of there long term immigrant tenants and this type of thing happens all the time which again is concerning they are allowing these types of situations to happen in their hotel.

I didn't take a much wanted and needed shower because of the condition of the cleanliness of the bathroom. I took another baby wipe spit bath and headed to the lobby for the advertised hot breakfast with waffles. When I arrived it was nothing but a few sad muffins from costco and the coffee was not only cold but tasted like it was from the day before. There were several immigrants inside and lobby and it turns out the majority of the hotel is a long term residents for many. These long term residents also informed me that the amenities such as the pool and hot tub are always out of order. So again I decided to forgo the breakfast and just hit Tim hortons on my way out.

I went to the desk to check out and asked to speak to a manager. They told me there wasn't a manager on site. I asked them to please call one then. I told them due to the terrible conditions of the room and bathroom and given the fact I barely got two hours of sleep I wanted a significant discount on the room. They refused to help with anything. Finally I didn't have time to argue any longer and needed to get on the road. I asked her to please at least refund the deposit. She assured me I would get it in a few days. I told her given my experience so far working with them I didn't trust that would be the case and I demanded she refund me immediately and I wouldn't leave the hotel without a receipt showing the $100 was refunded. Again after a long argument they finally conceded on this one only because by this time it was creating quite the scene at the front desk and people were starting to gather. This hotel experience was by far the worst I have ever encountered and this hotel is definitely not a 3 star hotel, it shouldn't even be considered a motel. The best description of this place would be a dumpy pay by the hour motel. It was GOD AWFUL! I vowed I would NEVER EVER stay there again.

Now fast forward almost two years and I find myself again looking for accommodations in Abbotsford. Again I go to a booking website because I trust they are vetted and booking.com has done their due diligence in verifying hotels are accurately described and rated. Again due to the pictures, and descriptions online I end up booking again. The second I walked through the door I had a sinking nightmare feeling realizing it was the same hotel I had the terrible experience with before. The same sign stating the pool and hot tub are out of order was there again and the same rude girls at the front desk tried to charge me more than the reservation really costed. I immediately remembered my previous experience and decided I was absolutely not going to go through that again. I told the girls at the front desk I wasn't going to stay there due to false advertising and requested to cancel my booking free of charge. She wouldn't do it so I asked to please speak to a manager. She told me there wasn't a manager in but he would be in the next morning after 8 a.m. I left my name, phone number, and email and told her I would be back after 8 a.m. the next morning to speak to a manager. I went across the street to the best western and had a wonderful experience with the gentleman at the front desk to help me with my accommodations. I was completely blown away that both of these hotels were rated the same. The contrast was night and day.
The next morning I went back over to the Abbotsford Hotel at 8:30 to speak to the manager. This time it was a different girl but equally as rude. I told her I was told a manger would be in after 8 and that I needed to speak with him. She said he wasn't going to be in but would be in the next morning by 8 a.m. I explained to her that is exactly what I was told the previous night. I asked her to please call her manager that this was very important and I really needed to speak with him even if it was just over the phone.. she refused.
I again went over to the Abbotsford hotel the following morning to speak with the manger and resolve the issue. Again I was told he was not going to be there today but I could come back the next morning and he would be there after 8. By this time I am livid and I explained that was the third time I was told the exact same thing which is obviously a lie and a ploy to get me out of the hotel to deal with the situation another day.

Both of these experiences with this hotel were some of the very worst I have ever experienced and I am beyond disappointed with booking.com that they would work with and put their name on such terrible accommodations. I will say I am now forced to do more research when booking and no longer feel confident using booking.com for my accommodation needs in the future.

I implore you to do a reevaluation of this hotel. It's not a three star hotel by any means and nothing in their descriptions or pictures are even close to accurate. Please do a service to me and others and do a better job at evaluating and advertising these hotels.

Abbotsford Hotel Canada false advertising

The Hotel is a dump. It smells so bad of cigarette smoke it makes you want to puke. The fridge and the microwave do not work and even though we told the staff when we got to our room, no one has come to see if this is correct or to fix them. We are here for 6 nights and being totally ignored. The free breakfast was toast, coffee and cereal. It was not a continental breakfast so why so cheap? They charged me $30. per night for my two small dogs that have there own kennels.Why? The carpets are not clean anyway. They rent rooms to homeless people so we are not feeling really secure when locking doors are propped open.
