2003 Saturn Vue transmisson and other

I bought a 2003 Saturn Vue last year with 78000 miles on it. The motor had to be replaced after 3 months. Then the whole car had to be rewired 3 months later. and now the transmisson is going out, , Are you serious? I am a single mom and I thought this would be a great car boy was I wrong. If you dont like spending lots of money on repairs I would stay far away from this car.

I purchased a 2003 Staurn Vue AWD about 2 years ago. I am extremly angry and frustrated with everything about this vehicle. My car is currently in the shop to replace or fix the transmission, but after reading all the complaints on this weeb site, I am wishing the damn thing would just blow up. I have been told that GM will pay 50% of the repair, or $5000...

2003 Saturn Vue Transmission

Purchased 2003 Vue, used in 2006. Had to have the transmission replaced at 36, 000 miles (FeB. 2007) NOW we are at 82, 000 miles and just told the transmmission needs to be replaced again. They will not cover it as it is past the 12 month warranty! Called GM, absolutely no help! Called the Saturn dealer we purchased it from, again NO HELP! Kind of at wits end on paying for a 6, 000 transmission when it was a known engineering problem with this transmission! Any suggestions?

we bought a 2003 saturn vue brand new. at 40 thousand miles, our transmission went, they fixed it.. it was good for another 40 and then it let go again..they fixed it again, then the ignition went, we had that replaced..that was about a year ago.. last month the ingnition started to give us trouble once again.. i was on my way to work one morning and all of a sudden the saturen just stared to shut down on me . luckely i was close to a friends house and was able to go there..when i got in front of there house and put the car in park everything died and i was locked in the car, i was finally able to get out, after playing with the key. the car was towed to our house and it was a belt that needed to be replaced. my husband replaced the belt. when he tried to back out of the garage the car would not go in reverse.here we go it been 40 thousand miles..today is jan 10, 2009, my car has been in the shop for about a month. we are fighting with them to fix the transmission at no charge, but they are giving us a hard time.. they only want to pay 75% of the bill.and we are not going for that. this was not our fault. and we will fight them all the way..my suggestion to anyone buying a car stay away from a saturn vue...i would never buy another saturn, they are junk...

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue that is now a 9, 000 dollar paperweight. The transmission failed and I have been quoted 4, 500 to 6, 000 dollars to fix it. I realize Saturn is closing it's doors but they are turning their back on the thousands of people that are having the same issue. There has to be some sort of class action suit with the amount of people with the exact issue. Does anyone know of anything that can be done to solve our Saturn Vue transmission issue?

Have a 2003 Saturn Vue with 114, 000 miles on it. Transmission went out. One minute it worked, next minute it didn't. Have had alot of problems with it. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. I used to be a dedicated Saturn customer. No more. I've had 5 Saturns, and the Vue has really disappointed me. Make in the USA? Convince me.

I have a 2003 saturn vue. I m on the 4 th tranmission in it, , this tranmission in it now only has about 20, 000 miles on it, , and its acting up again.. I cant afford to but a another car now.. That was the whole idea of buying the vue brand new so I could keep it bout 10 years... It was definetely a design flaw in the tranmission. As soon as they realized this they should of made all of those vehicles right..now were alll stuck with a pile of junk... GM is wanting us to buy new vehicles, , , They need to give us all a new vehicle to replace the vues that were are are having so much trouble with ...

Transmission problems are the worst thing to go wrong with a car. I have a 2003 SL2. bought it because it only had 28, 000 miles on it. At about 40, 000 I was driving and all the power suddenly went out. Turned out it needed new battery cables. got that fixed. Then I had transmission problems, but it was a leak and it only cost me 120 dollars. I can drive the car to work with no problems, which is a half hour away. But any longer than that, or if I drive very slow for ten minutes it will slip into 2nd gear and will not go back into third. so the motor runs at 4000 rpms just to go 40 miles per hour. So I still don't know if I can drive this to a ballgame, because the ballpark is 45 minutes away. I can't afford a new car either. But I know this. I will not ever buy a
Saturn again.

I am also having the same problem with my 2003 Satrun Vue...The dealer said he just had the transmission flushed, So I wouldn't have to do it again for 50, 000 miles. I have not even driven 500 miles and the transmission has failed! Really! SERIOUSLY? I am Pissed! It will cost me the same price that I paid for the car to replace the transmission! $4000! THAT IS RIDICULOUS! GM NEEDS TO RECALLLL ALL 2003 SATURN VUES UNTIL THERE ARE NO MORE. So that people don't have to go thru this! WHAT GOOD IS A CUTE CAR YOU CANT DRIVE! GM IF YOU ARE AWARE THAT YOU BUILT A CAR WITH ISSUES SATISFY THOSE OF US WHO KNEW NO BETTER AND RECALL THE CAR! Now I'm back to SQUARE ONE, WITHOUT A CAR!

I have/had a 2003 Saturn Vue as well.

I purchased the car in July 2005 and had to replace the transmission in Oct. 2007 (which was under the 5 year extended warrantly from GM) only for the transmission to go out again in Sept. 2009. NOW SINCE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY THE REPAIR IS 6200 AND I ONLY OWE 8700 ON THE CAR, WHICH IS THE KELLY BLUE BOOK VALUES THE CAR AT 500.

GM STATED THAT SINCE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND TO TOP IT OFF, MY TRANSMISSION SHOP WILL TOUCH THE TRUCK DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION BEING A "CVT" TRANSMISSION.

WE SHOULD ALL WRITE TO GM FOR A RECALL...WHERE IS THE AMERICAN PRIDE!

I agree I am having the same problem for the second time with my 2003 Saturn vue. My car has been in the auto shop since july, 2009 and i have been renting a car because they cannot find the part to fix my car. Saturn has not been helpful at all. I feel it should be aganist the law to sell these cars knowing that the transmission is gonna go any day after you buy the car. I still owe alot of money and im still paying for a car i haven't drove in 2 1/2 months. If somebody came help me please do.

2003 Saturn Vue Major transmission problems

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue with major transmission problems. I bought the car with 35000 miles on it, at 35990 the car starting making a grinding noise and found out the transmission was having problems, Saturn said they fixed it.

I drove to about 70000 miles and heard the same noise and took it to Saturn, this time the transmission had to be completely replaced. I thought at this time I was safe for the life of the car, because it had a new transmission. I am at 10300 miles and the same noise has appeared again. I called saturn consumer customer call line and was told to take it to a dealership and have it diagnosed. I did this and was told that the end cover needed to be replaced and that it could be flushed but this would only be at temporary fix. I called Saturn back and was told that the transmission needed to be completely replaced again and that it was out of warranty and they would cover half as a good will gesture and I would have to cover the rest. I asked how that could be when they had put a brand new transmission in at 70000 miles and it went out again. I also told them that I was aware that they have had severe problems with this model year car transmissions, the girl on the other line stated that was not true. I am at my wits end, I cannot afford another car, I still owe alot and cannot afford another one at this time. I am beside myself and don't know what to do. I thought I would come here to see if there was help out there that I did not know about that you could point me to.

I have had a very bad experience with Saturn Customer REPS. My 2006 Saturn Vue had been sluttering in low rpms (around 1500). I called Saturn customer service and found out a recall to reprogram the transmission module and replace the torque converter. I took it to the Rainbow GMC Delearship in Covington [protected]) who worked on my car to fix the problem. The problem was fixed for a week and half. And then, BAM!, I have the exact same problem. This time it was worse, so I called the rep. JOEL (he worked on the car) who wanted me to pay a fee to look at the car and to fix it. So I tried calling the Customer Care [protected]) to see if tehy would save me from the ripoff. I talked to ASHLEY on 12/2/13 who insisted that I have to pay and there was no way around it. I asked her very polietly to put her in my shoes and fix the job that they did not do right. She just wanted me to pay more money. I am not a rich guy and I was not trying to get something out from them just like that. I just asked her to make sure the guys did what they were supposed to do. She was being very depanding and so I asked her if I could record the conversation, she became really defensive and and blamed me that it's been over a month and I'm complaining. But I talked to the other agent on Nov. 1 and got my car back around the 6th of 7th. I tried to call them last weekend but the lines were crazy because of thanksgiving. It's been less than a month and General Motors will not look over their mistake and fix it ? This is just sad. This is my 3rd car from GM and I'm done. I've never been dealt so bad before. Bad job, and a horrible customer service. I would have been satisfied if they just looked at what they did and made sure the quality of work they did was good. I was going to upload the audio, if Ashley([protected] Ext: 40684) let me record it, but she went totally defensive and on a NO spree. She did not even tell me her ID# and was hesitant to give her extension out. Stay out of GMC. Seems like they've lost their sense of quality work, responsibility and honesty. I would hate to do business with a company that cannot gurantee their services. Never buying a GMC again. My car has 10500 miles and I've cleaned the fuel injection system and replaced the spark plugs.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue and guess what the transmission went. I called GM and they had told me that they are no longer honoring the 50% or $5, 000. My car has only 95, 000 miles on it. Does anyone know if they are still going with this class action against GM or is it over with? If it is still going on how do you become apart of it? I never had a problem dealing with Saturn ever since GM took over they don't care about the Saturn customers, it is what it is they just want you to buy their brand and then they will treat you better!

I can say this... The drivetrain of the Vue was designed solely for the sub-compact... It was never designed to pull the weight of an SUV loaded with passengers... Some "genius" at the GM Design Center made the call to use this drivetrain in this vehicle... To all of our dismay... I hate to even see one pull in my shop, because I know I am going to have to tell some poor soul that they got screwed. What many of you may not be aware of... This "VTI" transmission actually uses a rubber belt as the internal drive mechanism... This is why the failures are sudden and silent... There is also no dipstick in this transmission to check the fluid level... Low fluid levels cause the belt to degrade rapidly, and without warning. Rid yourself of this vehicle as soon as possible. Also, Saturn is not the only Manufacturer that used this type of transmission... Chrysler and Honda, amongst others use a "CVT" transmission which is of the same flawed design. And those makers are having the some of the same issues. Honda uses a much higher quality belt and suffer less failures, but really it is not worth the risk when spend that big money... When you buy a new vehicle... DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
