U-Haul International Terrible Experience with U-Haul Storage in Abington: Avoid at All Costs!

I recently had a terrible experience with U-Haul Storage in Abington and I feel the need to share my story with anyone who is considering renting storage space there. I have been storing my small motorcycle at this location for the past month and have returned it at least 5 times without any issues. However, on my most recent visit, my girlfriend and I were confronted by a lady who claimed to be the manager of the location. She had purple hair and very few teeth, and was extremely aggressive towards us.

The manager started off by asking if I had a couple of bikes, to which I responded that I only had one motorcycle. She immediately raised her voice and began to verbally attack me and my pregnant girlfriend, claiming that storing a motorcycle was illegal and that I needed to remove it immediately or she would call the police and have me arrested. I asked if she was the manager, and she told me that she was. However, I knew that she wasn't the GM because I had rented the unit from Dave Post, the actual GM, who was there during the process. When I told her this, she changed her story and said that she was the assistant manager.

Despite the fact that U-Haul allows motorcycle storage, the manager continued to insist that it was illegal and that I had to remove it immediately. She refused to give me her name or business card, and even called another employee on the phone and told them to keep their finger on the panic button. She also screamed at me to drive at 5MPH as I was leaving, even though I was only going about 2MPH.

Throughout this entire ordeal, my pregnant girlfriend was standing next to the storage unit and was also verbally attacked by the assistant manager. This caused significant stress on her, which could potentially affect our unborn child. I eventually removed all of my property from the storage unit and will never rent from this location again.

This was the worst customer service experience of my entire life, and I highly recommend that you avoid this U-Haul location at all costs. The assistant manager needs to be fired and should never work in customer service again. I filed a complaint with U-Haul's corporate office, and they were shocked by how we were treated. Don't make the same mistake that I did - find a different storage location that values their customers and treats them with respect.

U-Haul International U-Haul Review: Bad Customer Service, High Fees, and Crooked Business Practices

I've been renting from U-Haul for over four years now, averaging at least one week a month due to my need to move merchandise. Unfortunately, in that time, I've had six trucks break down on the side of the road. One time, I waited for 25 hours for someone to come and look at the truck, only to be told that they needed to get another one. This was on a Saturday night, and no one was open for the rest of the weekend. All they had to say was "we're doing the best we can," and then they left me there on the side of the road. This is just one of the incidents that I've had with U-Haul.

The fees for U-Haul are also quite high, which is why when I decided to move across the country to El Paso, Texas, I thought I would try driving with a U-Box on the back of one of their 26-foot trucks. Let me tell you right now, that is not a good idea. I got pulled over because the U-Box was going all over the road, and you can't see anything behind you on that truck. We had ice, rain, and snow, and it was terrible. I had to drive 35 miles an hour on the interstate, and then I called U-Haul and told them what happened. They didn't want me to be driving it anymore like that. The only thing I could do was drive five hours out of my already long trip from Vermont to El Paso, Texas. Now, I had to drive all the way out of my way, and I had to eat the mileage. They refused to give us any credit because we didn't get it to its final destination, even though the police said no, you cannot drive this. They will not work with you on any kind of deal. The mileage is skyrocketed. It started at $.79 a mile. We've now made eight trips to El Paso, Texas, and every trip it has increased. You would think it would decrease since you're a loyal customer, but no, they don't believe in loyal anything. They are not loyal. Matter-of-fact, if you're 20 minutes late, you better guarantee you're going to have the cops called on you for a stolen vehicle. That wasted a day and a half of my life in the middle of nowhere dealing with the cops, and I'm thinking I stole the U-Haul. Unbelievable, unbelievable that I still rent from them, but you know I do not have a choice in the matter. I don't have a choice to pay their late fees. I have to pay them because they already take them out of your credit card. So guarantee if they quote you $300, then you better have $600.

I don't want to forget to mention how dirty most of the U-Haul's been in the inside, but when I go to return it, it has to be spotless. So now I'm wasting 4 to 5 hours cleaning a U-Haul that was already dirty. And if you say something about it, they say, "Well, then we don't have another one to give you, so sorry, I guess you'll have to just try at another location!" If I was looking at reviews and hadn't used U-Haul and saw this long review, I probably wouldn't even look at it. But I have spent so much money just with the El Paso trip, not to mention the years of using it once a month for a week. I can tell you that I've only got money off my bill once. It took me four months to fight to get that money taken off. It was $190 to take off from a $4000 bill, and that's one of several $4000 bills. Any late fee or any charges they can give you, they're going to. Cleaning fee? Better guarantee you're probably going to get one. Late fee? Better not be 20 minutes late, or you'll get a late fee and the cops called.

Overall, my opinion is that U-Haul has bad customer service, bad business practices, and they don't pay their employees well at all. They don't take care of their regular customers, and they could care less about it because they know there is not much competition for them. Greed has taken over this company, and that's just my opinion, but I don't think I'm alone. They're crooks, and yet I'm sitting in a U-Haul truck writing this review after getting off the phone with them and finding out that I had to pay $500 for a couple of days because the rest of it's late fees, and I wasn't even late. The owner of the business that I rented it from never put it in the computer, so it's a big $#*! you to me, and there's nothing I can do about it. Yet again, I'm eating more nickel and dime bull$#*! That's my rant for the day, and probably the month.

U-Haul International Terrible Experience with U-Haul Englewood Store: Unprofessional GM and Billing Issues

My son rented a U-Haul truck from the Englewood store and it was a complete disaster. We rented the truck to help a friend on 12/11, but after a few days, we couldn't get in touch with the friend and the store was looking for payment. We contacted the GM, Shane, to try and get the truck back, but it seemed like it might not be an option. My son, who is only 21 and had never dealt with anything like this before, called Shane and explained what had happened. We tried to call the police, but no one would help us because U-Haul had to report the truck as stolen. Shane informed us that he was calling the police and letting them know that my son had stolen the truck. We were shocked and didn't know what to do. It was my son's mistake, so we just had to take what was coming. However, after explaining to my son that being honest is the best way to go, Shane was a complete jerk to him and didn't care to listen to anything.

Anyway, Shane called the cops, and we let them know what had happened and sent over all messages and proof that we had. During this time, the truck was returned after hours on 12/16/22. When Shane called to let us know, he advised us that there was no fuel in the truck and ashes all in the front, and we were looking at about $900. I asked him to please send an itemized statement to the address listed, and we would set up payments to pay it off. Again, it was my son's mistake. Fast forward to today, 1/19/23, and my son gets a text message that says his payment was declined, and there is a statement showing what's been paid and what is owed. It shows $361.06 is owed. My problem was that we still had not received anything in the mail, and Shane told us we could set up payments.

So, we called Shane to find out what was going on. He proceeded to tell us not to worry about it, and when we were set up on the promise to pay, it would have tried to charge my card, and it was just sending out a reminder but wouldn't try to charge my card. That statement made absolutely no sense, especially because that was the first message we received from anyone in regards to this matter. So, I told him I wanted my card removed from the account. The truck was not in my name, and I never agreed to pay the extra on it. He proceeded to tell me that he had authorization codes, and all he had to do was call my bank, provide the code, and they would get the payment. I asked him to change the payment method to my son's account, and he said, "well then it's going to want a payment because you guys haven't made any payments." So, do you mean to tell me that if I authorize $30 to be taken for payment, U-Haul can then send in bogus authorization codes to charge my account? That sounds like fraud to me.

But he then continued to argue about the fact he said he would mail a copy of the bill, talk over me and my son, tell us thank you for annoying him, and then gave us three different amounts owed on the account. When I told him the amount was different on the statement we received, he all but called us stupid and proceeded to tell us that there is a difference between what is paid and what is owed. He proceeded to tell us the beginning balance was $600 something and with the $109 payment that we made (totally contradicting his earlier statement that we hadn't paid anything), it's $500 something. Now, if he would stop talking over me, he would realize that I'm trying to tell him that is three different amounts.

Then, when we were arguing about pulling the calls, he threatened me that the only reason the payment was $500 something was that he was being nice and didn't charge us for everything, but if he had to pull the calls, the bill would go back up to $900. I advised him that the statement shows $361 something, and he said, "well, that might have been just sent that day and not updated." The problem with that is THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE RECEIVED IT, and it has all the late fees, cleaning charges, after-hours fee, etc. on it. Not to mention, THAT DAY he said the bill would be $900.

I understand my son made a mistake here, and he took full responsibility for it. We were going to make the payments on it, but we didn't already pay. I fully expect that they make this GM do the same and take responsibility and own up to his mistakes. Furthermore, if this is how they allow their GENERAL MANAGER to speak to customers, you do NOT have to worry about putting my son on the banned from U-Haul list because I can promise you WE WILL NOT BE BACK. I am only paying the $361 in payments as promised I could, and it had better not be pulled out of my account, especially in one lump sum. Also, I would like those calls pulled, and an apology for the way we have been treated.

U-Haul International UHaul Moving Help Service: A Complete Disaster and Lack of Responsibility

UHaul, oh UHaul, where do I even begin? I recently used their "Moving Help" service to move from Texas to Oregon, and let me tell you, it was a complete disaster. The whole experience was so bad that whoever built up the great UHaul name would be incredibly disappointed in today's customer experience.

First of all, UHaul does not require their contractors to hold any kind of insurance, not even the minimum Texas requirement for drivers' vehicle insurance. This is extremely dangerous for consumers, and UHaul Moving Help doesn't even provide a disclaimer so that consumers can self-screen the services. This lack of responsibility and care for their customers is unacceptable.

My three-day saga included a wrecked vehicle, an uninsured driver, ghosting, general incompetence, carelessness, and irresponsibility by all parties involved. I spent a conservative total of 8 hours on hold, uncounted actual talk-time with the three companies, time spent on the phone with the police, physical police visits, police reports, and multiple drives around town to try to find my wrecked, abandoned, and then disappeared UBox.

UHaul's Moving Help service claims to get your UHaul UBox safely and efficiently delivered to your location so you can fill it up, then get it delivered it to your final destination. UHaul Moving Help listed Miles Moving Company as a one of their "team of experienced veteran movers that love to get the job done. We pride ourselves on punctuality, efficiency, hospitality, and customer service." What a joke.

Miles Moving Company was supposed to deliver the UBox to my driveway on Monday morning, but when it didn't arrive, I called and the driver complained that it was too far away (18 miles). They canceled the reservation, but when I called Moving Help, they said UHaul had a glitch, and they re-booked it. These calls constituted my first 3 hours on hold. If only I had fired them then.

But it only got worse from there. The driver called and said he couldn't find the address for the UHaul facility where the UBox was located. It took another 45-minute hold with Moving Help (as their contractor didn't want to bother calling them himself) before I got the address, which was the Cedar Hills UHaul franchise. And then, he didn't even show up.

I phoned Miles Moving Company whose representative said, "my guy is waiting on you. Once he gets a response, he will be en route." What? I had told him I was there, had had conversations, provided him the pickup address of UHaul, even formally confirmed the night before, and to please just get here. Yes, but they required confirmation. Ok, I confirmed AGAIN.

They said he would be there at 4:30 pm on Monday and would drop it in the driveway. After 4:30 on Monday, I called again and the guy from Miles Moving said sorry he got to UHaul late and they're closed. He would bring it in Tuesday morning. Tuesday arrives, and the driver ghosts me. It finally arrives at 5:00. I meet him out there, and watch as he tries to back the trailer in my driveway. It takes him over 10 times to get it right, I am not exaggerating. He definitely doesn't have trailer experience.

And then, the worst part happened. At 2:45 pm on Thursday (almost an hour late for pick up), I hear a noise in the driveway. I walk out to see if it's the guy from Miles Moving Company to take my packed UBox away. It is. But the noise I heard was the driver sideswiping my car with the trailered UBox and fleeing the scene. My car now has UHaul-orange paint down the crunched side, a damaged tire, bumper, and there's a dark line down the driveway and into the street where the UBox trailer tire has been dragged because the trailer axle is broken and one wheel isn't turning.

I chased after him, but he got away. I called the police and filed a report, but it took hours of phone calls and visits to different police departments to even get started. And then, my UBox disappeared. I spent hours on the phone with UHaul, Moving Help, and Miles Moving Company, and nobody knew where it was. None of the three companies were communicating with each other or taking responsibility, so it was still up to me.

Finally, after days of stress and anxiety, I found my UBox at a different UHaul facility. To this day, no one can tell me how it got there. And then, when I tried to file a claim with UHaul's insurance carrier, they rejected it claiming that even though their trailer UBox damaged my car, it wasn't their problem because the driver was not theirs. And to top it all off, neither UHaul Moving Help nor Miles Moving Company require their drivers to be legally insured, even though Texas legally requires them to.

In conclusion, I would never recommend UHaul or their Moving Help service to anyone. The lack of responsibility, care, and communication is unacceptable. I hope that UHaul either cleans up their bogus Moving Help service or shuts it down. I would have been better off hiring random workers from a parking lot - after checking their insurance, of course.

U-Haul International Horrific Experience with Uhaul: Stranded in LA for 9 Days and $2,180 in Expenses

store to figure out what was going on. He was told that the third party shipping company had picked up my Uhaul box that morning and that it would be in LA on May 24th. I was relieved but also frustrated that it took my brother physically going to the store to get any answers.

Fast forward to May 24th, the day my Uhaul box was supposed to arrive. I waited all day and it never showed up. I called the third party shipping company and was told that they had no record of my Uhaul box and that they didn't even work with Uhaul. I was beyond frustrated at this point. I called Uhaul customer service again and was told that they would look into it and call me back. They never called me back.

Finally, on May 27th, my Uhaul box arrived. It was 9 days late and I had already spent $2,180 on a hotel, food, and work clothes. I was beyond angry and frustrated with Uhaul. The whole experience was a nightmare and I would never recommend Uhaul to anyone.

In conclusion, my experience with Uhaul was horrific. I was left stranded in LA for 9 days and had to pay an extra $2,180 for a hotel, food, and work clothes. I was lied to by multiple people, talked down to and belittled over the phone, and ignored by at least 10 employees. The manager at a customer service center even told me that she didn't care that my Uhaul box was 9 days late. It wasn't her problem. I would never recommend Uhaul to anyone and I hope that others can learn from my mistake.

U-Haul International U-Haul Moving Containers and Movinghelp.com Review: A Series of Frustrating Events

I gotta say, I booked some U-Haul Moving Containers (UBoxes) on U-Haul's website for July 31,2020 and used some movers from their website, Movinghelp.com. I went with D. B. P. Moving, but I couldn't get a hold of them for nothing. I called and called, but no answer. Finally, I had to contact U-Haul to cancel those jokers and get some new movers (see email).

Movinghelp.com let me know on Wednesday, July 30th that D. B. P. Movers were cancelled and they were gonna refund me the $595.95 I paid. That's cool, I guess.

So then I booked some different movers, AstraMovers, for the next day, July 31st. But when the day came, my boxes weren't ready. I told them ahead of time that my building doesn't allow moves after 4pm, and they gotta schedule it so only one person moves in one day to use the freight elevator. But they called me up and said the box I reserved wasn't ready, so I had to change my move date to Monday, August 3rd and pay extra rent to my building for staying extra days. My building doesn't allow moves on the weekend, so that was a real pain.

Moving Help let me know on August 3,2020 that Astra Movers were gonna refund me $680.35 back to my credit card (attached). The manager at U-Haul, Crystal DeLeon, apologized for the boxes not being ready and said she was gonna change the date and give me a $300 credit for the inconvenience. I was pretty mad, but I decided to stick with U-Haul after they offered me a credit for their mistake.

So then I booked Diamond Quality Movers for Monday, August 3rd on the movinghelp.com website. But once again, my boxes weren't ready in the morning at 9am like we agreed. Moving Help let me know on August 3,2020 that Diamond Quality Movers were gonna refund me $590.95 back to my credit card (attached).

The New Rochelle U-Haul located an hour further might have boxes, but Crystal told me they weren't sure on the time. Because of the delay, she said she would pay for the movers and booked J. Sutton Movers. But they arrived 7 hours later than the agreed upon time and we barely made the cutoff to move. The New Rochelle location had boxes later in the evening and J Sutton Movers moved all of my items outside of the building while one person went to retrieve the boxes.

The manager at U-Haul agreed to refund me for the movers who were not used. But let me tell you, they are a very dishonest company. They tried to charge me $1,348.65 for a move which they agreed to pay for. Not only that, I was looking to pay $590-$680 for movers, not nearly triple the price.

U-Haul International MovingHelp Review: Nightmare from Hell - Unprofessional, Inexperienced, and Damaged My Furniture

So, I recently used MovingHelp to help me move from my large house to a storage unit. I have to say, it was not a great experience. The team that showed up was a man and his son, who looked to be about 18 years old. Unfortunately, they were not very experienced, and the supervisor confirmed that the son was new to the job. I understand that everyone has to start somewhere, but it definitely showed in their work.

It took them a whopping 5 hours to load everything from my house into the storage unit, which was a lot longer than I expected. I had to help them every step of the way, which was fine, but they didn't pack the storage room properly, leaving a lot of open space in the back of the unit. This was a complete disregard for my STAR furniture, which I had specifically asked them to be careful with.

To make matters worse, they conned me out of the code to get paid before they were even done with the job. Once they got paid, they left a forgotten piece of my large sectional outside by the truck, and left the large mirror for my dresser on a dolly at the elevator, along with multiple other large items at the storage unit. They said they had another job to get to and that I would have to finish the rest myself because it wasn't going to fit. They assured me from the beginning that everything would fit, but they clearly packed it wrong and would have to repack to get certain items in there.

My furniture was bubble wrapped with blankets, but they had no care and just scrapped my side boards down my footboard. They even laid my LCD TV on its back and stacked side boards on top of the foot board after I told them to be careful. I supplied blankets, but they were too lazy to spread them out to keep from scratching anything.

I only made one comment to them about the footboard prior to them taking the money and running. When they told me what they intended, I told them that if I had known that, they would not have gotten the code. I also told them they better call their boss because they were not getting another dime. And I still owed them for almost 2 more hours of work.

There is no reason for it to take them 5 hours to do the job. Their boss had to make them come back to finish it. And they had the nerve to tell me that they would finish as long as I did not disrespect them. How many people would have not responded the way I did? I am a single woman, and there was no way I could have fixed their mess.

To make matters worse, my king size headboard stuck out too much to close the door, and the son wanted to just cover it with a blanket and slide the door down the whole side of my headboard. My headboard is at least 7 feet tall! I had to call into work, and as a nurse, that put my facility in a serious bind as we are very short-staffed.

To top it all off, I found 3 pieces of furniture damaged by the load team. I had asked them not to put my sectional on the side that showed and to turn it around so if it got damaged, it would not show. But they put a sheet under it, and the whole side has a huge rub mark. There was even a cut down one side of another piece of the sectional.

Overall, this was not a service I would use again. It was a complete horror show that just didn't end. I can't wait to get my stuff out and into the new place to see the magnitude of the damage they caused. It was truly a NIGHTMARE FROM HELL!

U-Haul International Uhaul and MovingHelp.com: A Nightmare Moving Experience

Me and my hubby had a move from Cleveland to Chicago and we decided to use movinghelp.com to set up movers on both sides for a total of about $300 in labor. We scheduled the move more than a week in advance, but on the day of our move, the movers we scheduled in Cleveland called to ask to push back the time an hour. We said no problem. Then they called to say they were on their way and would be there in an hour. We said great. But then they no showed and would not answer our calls. We waited for four hours and then had to scramble to find same day movers, which were FAR more expensive because they were scheduled same-day. It was really frustrating because if people no show on you there is no way to give them a negative review because as far as moving help is concerned, there was no job to review.

Fast forward to Chicago. On the way in to Chicago I call to confirm our movers in Chicago, because of our bad experience in Cleveland. They confirm. We arrive with the Uhaul in the city... call the movers... his people aren't answering the phone and he says he can't complete the job and we need to cancel our order. So we're stuck in Chicago, with no realistic long-term parking situations, with a Uhaul and no movers in sight. We schedule new same day movers (again at a FAR more expensive price because now we have to schedule same day)... same day movers call us and say that despite moving help saying they had availability, they can't come until 11 pm (seven hours later) and we should cancel our order and try someone else. We schedule a second set of same day movers... same issue. Finally, we find a third set of same day movers who can at least come by 8 pm (four hours later than our originally schedule time). We pay even more than the same day fee to have those movers bring an extra helper because now we are moving in outside of condo-approved hours and are risking fines and want to move as quickly as possible. We survive the move. (Shout out to Mountain Movers and Arsineo who did a great job and saved our sanity... barely.)

The next day we realize that on top of spending over $200 more on same-day movers because everyone we scheduled early canceled on us, Uhaul and moving help did not appropriately refund the money they "held" to reserve our NO SHOW MOVERS. After 2 hours on the phone with customer service representatives who ACKNOWLEDGED THAT WE DID NOT GET THE APPROPRIATE REFUNDS and assured us that they documented every charge and failure to refund and that our issue (which the customer service agent said was terrible and not a typical experience) would be elevated to the management and resolved within a week, we have still heard nothing months later and have been unable to get anyone to follow up on our claim.

This service is a sham and Uhaul should be ashamed. We will never use Uhaul services again I will be reporting Uhaul and movinghelp to the Better Business Bureau and various consumer protection resources. Save yourself and book your own movers separately.

U-Haul International U-Haul's "Moving Help" Service Review: Disappointing Experience with Mo Pack N Move and Rep West

Moving is a stressful experience, especially when you're moving 20 hours away. We decided to use U-Haul's "Moving Help" service to load and unload our 26' one-way truck from the midwest to Las Vegas. We spent over $650 on boxes, packing kits, bubble wrap, and packing material to ensure that everything would arrive safely. We also added "Safe Move Plus", "Safe Trip", and "Safe Load" services to our order.

The truck itself was clean, but the air conditioning only worked when we hit the accelerator. Despite this, we were happy that the truck worked and we were able to get on the road.

However, our problems began when we hired "Mo Pack N Move" to help us pack the truck. We chose them based on their good reviews, but we were disappointed with their service. They were supposed to send three helpers to pack our house early in the morning, but they arrived a couple of hours late with only two helpers. They did wrap most of our furniture, but they didn't wrap our stainless steel fridge, which ended up getting dented and scratched during loading. The load took much longer than we anticipated, and the helpers held us "hostage" for more money to finish the job. I ended up helping them pack the entire time because it was clear that they were inexperienced and couldn't handle the job on their own. We had a 4 bed, 3 bath house that was approximately 2200 sq. ft, so it was a big job.

When we arrived at our new home, we hired Apogee Movers to unload the truck. They did an excellent job and unloaded everything efficiently, quickly, and carefully. However, they told us that the pack job was not done well and was a sign of inexperience from the packers. We had many items that were damaged during the move, including our mint condition refrigerator, kitchen dining set, vases, wood gashes on stools, legs broken off an entertainment center, a piece to a very expensive elliptical that "Mo Pack N Move" dropped on the driveway, plates, figurines, shelving, office equipment, art frames, and more. All of these items were packed with U-Haul materials, but they were damaged during loading according to our unpacker's professional opinion.

We filed a claim with Rep West, who handles any Safe Move (Moving Help) claims. However, "Mo Pack N Move" essentially told Rep West that they loaded the truck fine and that the items shifted in transit. We drove the truck very carefully, so we know that this wasn't the case. We were disappointed that Rep West wouldn't honor the insurance we purchased, and we ended up having to replace many of our damaged items, which cost us thousands of dollars.

As someone who focuses on marketing and customer satisfaction in my career, I think that U-Haul should distance themselves from the "Moving Help" concept and Rep West. This experience damaged their reputation, and they should focus on what they do best - renting trucks. In the future, we will be using a professional moving company instead of U-Haul's "Moving Help" service.

U-Haul International Terrible MovingHelp Experience: Rude Movers and No Refund

I gotta say, I had the worst moving experience of my life with MovingHelp. It's really sad to have to write this, but I gotta let people know. I asked for a refund and they haven't done anything about it yet. One of the guys was great, but the other two were just terrible. They didn't pack the truck right and I ended up having to do the rest of the work myself. What a waste of time and money! I'm a teacher, mom, and grandma, people! This is the truth and it really sucks.

I sent them an email and everything. I was really looking forward to helping my son move back into his house after he had to move out because the sale fell through. We gave them all the info they needed, but they still messed it up. The two guys who came to help us were just awful. They didn't pack the truck right and didn't listen to my son when he tried to tell them what to do. They were rude and didn't care about our stuff at all.

When we got to the apartment, I checked the truck and it was a mess. They didn't leave any room for the furniture or boxes we needed to move. We had to take the truck back to VA Beach and move everything ourselves. It was a nightmare. We had to pay extra for the mileage and I'm still waiting for my refund.

I'm really unhappy with MovingHelp and I hope they can fix this. I had Christmas cards ready for each of the movers, but they didn't deserve them. They were rude and unprofessional. I hope they can make this right and give us our money back.

U-Haul International Movinghelp.com Review: No Consumer Protection, No Accountability, and No Refunds

Movinghelp.com is a website that is sponsored by UHaul. It's a great idea to have such a clearing house that provides access to local movers for small moves. On the website, you can select where and when you want to move, how many moving helpers, what type of services you need, and how many hours of assistance you want. They refer you to a list of local movers in your area and list their prices. If you want to proceed, you select the one you want, and somewhere in there, you are asked to create an account, and you prepay for your estimated hours of service. The website generates a payment code and contains several disclaimers that they do not get involved in payment disputes and that they will release the money to the mover if you unreasonably withhold the payment code and the movers have done the work. You are then directed to confirm directly with your selected mover the exact date and time of your move.

However, the website fails in that it requires you to estimate how long your specific job might take and it offers no protection to the consumer. In my opinion, because Movinghelp.com doesn't involve themselves in disputes, it provides no oversight to their listed movers, and thus there is no accountability for poor behavior. The website and service are heavily marketed by U-Haul, which, depending on your past experience with U-Haul, lends it some veneer of respectability, but the reality is there is none. You would do better off to run a search for local movers on the search engine of your choice, do your homework, and take your chances.

My personal experience was that I prepaid for four hours of work. When I went to confirm the date and time, the mover renegotiated to three hours worth of work. I guess I had a choice to then completely upend ALL my plans and do the job another day, or of course, go back to the drawing board with another mover for a different price. So they have you over the barrel there because you've already submitted your request and PAID. The movers show, they do two hours of work, call it good. We're deep in the bowels of my local storage facility moving items out of one unit into two different units. I have three movers I am giving directions to while simultaneously trying to pull specific items out of boxes that I need before said box gets repacked into the new unit. Thinking we were at the three-hour mark that I had agreed to in the final confirmation, I released the payment code. After they left, I discovered we were at the two-hour mark, and of course, now I can't get any kind of refund - Because I didn't handle it right there and then or maybe even withhold the payment code until the mover outlined exactly how I was going to get the two hours worth of labor back. Instead, the mover took double the payment and naturally isn't interested in letting go of that windfall. So I am just the sucker consumer, and the mover, Movinghelp.com, and I guess U-Haul, is perfectly A-OK doing business that way. You live you learn, I guess.

Given the opportunity to leave a review with Movinghelp.com, I left a short but honest one praising the workers as polite and hardworking but noting that I had been ripped off for two hours of labor. The mover has now been allowed to respond to my review by stating that I received a refund - even though I have not, and I've made Movinghelp.com aware that I have not.

I cannot recommend this website to anyone, and it infuriates me that U-Haul pushes this so hard in all their promotional materials. I just want to warn others: don't do it. If you need a local mover, just do a computer search and call around - you would be so much better served than with this consumer-hostile poor attempt at a clearing house.

U-Haul International MovingHelp.com: A Nightmare Experience with Insurance and Customer Service

I gotta say, my experience with MovingHelp.com was a real doozy. I rented a U-Box from U-Haul and used their website to find some movers to load it up for me. I even bought insurance for the move from Colorado to Florida, but boy was that a mistake.

First off, when I went to pick up my U-Box, the U-Haul staff couldn't even find it! They spent a whole hour trying to figure out where it was before finally telling me it had been sent to a regional facility. So I drove a half hour to that location, only to be told by the staff there that they didn't have my box either. After two hours of back-and-forth phone calls, they finally figured out that the first facility did have my box after all. What a waste of time!

Since I couldn't find any help, I ended up driving the load myself. When I got to my destination and started unloading, I found that two of my items had been damaged - an antique chair and a hand-painted lamp shade. I filed an insurance claim with U-Haul, but they rejected it and told me to take it up with MovingHelp.com. Apparently, their insurance only covers damage to the box itself, not the items inside. What a ripoff!

When I contacted MovingHelp.com, they told me that too much time had passed since my move for them to do anything about it. But get this - they still kept charging me for insurance even though they wouldn't cover my damages! They told me my only recourse was to sue the movers in Colorado, but when I contacted them, they said they weren't insured. So basically, I was out of luck.

But wait, it gets worse. U-Haul somehow managed to charge me for another month of storage even though I had already returned my U-Box. When I called to complain, they said only the manager could approve a refund, but they couldn't get ahold of him. I spent two hours on the phone with them trying to get my money back, but they kept passing me off to different departments and telling me they couldn't do anything. It was a real nightmare.

I'm still waiting for my refund, so I can't say for sure whether or not I would recommend MovingHelp.com. But if you're thinking about using them, just be warned - their insurance is a joke and their customer service is a nightmare.

U-Haul International MovingHelp Review: Scammed out of Money and Poor Customer Service

I recently had an experience with MovingHelp, a company based in Arizona, and I must say it was not a pleasant one. I had to change the date of my move and they charged me an extra $15, claiming that the movers had increased the price in just 2 to 4 minutes. However, when I spoke to the movers, they denied this. It took several calls to finally get the credit I deserved.

When I had to change the date of my move, I had to schedule a minimum of 2 hours for loading and 2 hours for unloading. I called the movers because I didn't think I needed 2 hours for both, but they told me to cancel one order. I did cancel one, but it turned out that it was the wrong one. The mover stayed on the phone with me until it was cancelled, but MovingHelp still got the wrong one cancelled.

After the job was complete, I was charged twice. I paid $400 through the mover's system, but when I checked my credit cards, I found that MovingHelp had charged me an additional $45.95. The site no longer showed the cancelled order, but instead showed 2 load/unloads for $200 each, plus an additional $40 and their usual $5.95. The mover only showed a charge of $400, but I was charged twice and never received a credit or cancellation.

I tried to reach out to MovingHelp, but they close at 3:30 PM, which is 2 hours behind my time zone, making it difficult to contact them. The movers only saw a charge of $400 on their end, but I was charged a total of $845.95 on my credit cards. There was nothing on the site that showed a credit or cancellation, and they never processed the movers together, resulting in a separate charge.

On a previous move from South Carolina to California, the unload movers were good, but the ones on the load end were sick and loaded furniture in a way that caused damage. They did not use my blankets as requested, did not finish the job, and asked for a $125 tip. They left a lot of heavy things in the apartment and were sick, causing a mess in the bathroom. The Sacramento unloaders were fantastic, but I had to change the time and found good movers this time, only to be scammed by MovingHelp.

I tried to leave a review for both moves, but my account was gone. When I logged in again, I saw the entire load/unload recorded. MovingHelp put the two jobs back up after I cancelled one, resulting in an extra charge of $459.95. They never processed the completion of the unload on their site, resulting in two separate charges.

After all my attempts to contact them and the negative reviews I read, I am not going to work with MovingHelp again. It is difficult to get my money back, which I need for my upcoming move, and they have no email or voicemail. They close at 1:30 PM PST, making it impossible to contact them. I left a negative review on their site and will not recommend them to anyone.

U-Haul International Worst Move Ever: Movers Held My Belongings Hostage and Extorted Money

I had a move scheduled for October 22, 2020, from 1-3 pm. I was moving from a high-rise apartment in Chicago and we only get the freight elevator for two hours. I informed Meryen City Moving of this. These are the movers I contracted through MovingHelp, which contracts through U-Haul. The following is an account of the worst move ever. NOTHING has been done except a lot of finger-pointing back and forth between U-Haul and MovingHelp.

I called U-Haul the week of the move and asked to cancel one of the pods as I didn't need it. I really just needed one bed to be placed in my empty van and one pod loaded. I was informed that I should not cancel the second pod because there would be no charge if it was not loaded.

This did not turn out to be true. Meryen City Moving expected $400 for their move. I don't blame them for that. It would have been their option to pass on my move if they knew that I didn't need the second pod. I do blame them for the rest of what happened.

I was contacted by Meryen City Moving at 1:00 on Oct. 22 via telephone. They called from the drive-thru lane while ordering food (I could hear them ordering). They asked if it was OK if they got some food before coming over. I said yes, but reminded them that I only have the elevator for two hours ? and those hours were already ticking away.

They called again at 2:00 from the U-Haul location where they were picking up the pod. The person at the U-Haul location refused to provide them two boxes because of the van they were using. I said that it was fine, I only needed one pod anyway and to please hurry.

The movers showed up at 2:30. 1. 5 hours late. And they couldn't find the dock that I sent directions for and pictures of. I had to get in their van and ride with them down to the dock, an uncomfortable scenario at any time but especially during a pandemic.

They blamed the man at the U-Haul location for showing up late.

I asked them to move quickly and to take the boxes out first and to leave them on the dock, reminding them that I wouldn't lose the dock but I would lose the elevator if someone was scheduled behind me. We could pack everything after removing my belongings from my apartment.

They did not do this. Instead, they loaded the boxes haphazardly into the pod. I went down to the dock and asked them to stop and to please go back upstairs and get the larger items out of the apartment. They ignored me and continued loading the boxes into the pod in a way that was clearly not going to work (see photo Photo 151522 to see how they attempted to load the pod, making zero attempt to fit all of my belongings in the pod).

At this point, I'm pleading with them to stop. I'm actually unloading the pod because it is clear that my belongings won't fit when packed the way they were doing it.

They refused to move quickly. This resulted in a full-blown argument. I have never had a full-blown agreement with a stranger. This was really bad.

I pleaded for them to get the bed out of the apartment as it is the biggest item, and I felt it needed to go into my empty van. Photo 161024 happened after they finally brought the bed down and after I personally unloaded the boxes from the first photo. As anyone can see, the bed needed to go into my empty van for everything to fit.

The guy knew I couldn't lift the bed. That is when he forced the promise of full payment. Only then would he put the bed in the van and remove the rest of my belongings from the home. And even that required an argument over the fact that the stuff wasn't all going to fit in the pod. He said "I know what I am doing". But he absolutely did not. The only thing he knew how to do well was to extort money out of a woman standing alone on a moving dock.

I desperately promise to provide the full payment if they will only just get my belongings out of the apartment and load the U-Box correctly. I have no choice. My belongings are halfway downstairs on a dock and halfway upstairs in the apartment that I need to move out of. I am forced to pay them the full amount. My belongings are being held hostage.

(By the way, the bed requires zero tools to disassemble the bed and they tried to charge me for that. Seriously, you just pull the bed apart. It is two pieces.)

Now they are actually moving, but it's still pretty bad. I finally get them to put the bed in the van, all the while they are arguing with me.

Photo 175842 proves that I was right. That is the pod finally packed. The bed is in the van. There was no way to get it all in one pod. But the empty van was right there the whole time. They just didn't want to use it because they wouldn't get paid to do that.

Of course, had they just loaded the pod + the bed in the van quickly, I would have tipped them and tipped them well. In this case, I gave them the code for their full funds (I want to emphasize that I had no choice) and, for the first time ever, I did not tip.

They finally left at 6:30 pm. It took them four hours to load one pod. And they arrived 1.5 hours late.

I've also included photos of the scratched floor they left behind when they moved a book case.

Since my move, I have filed a complaint, but the buck has been passed. U-Haul sent me to Moving Help who sent me, unbelievably, back to the movers ? actually connecting me with those same movers via email and asking us to work it out. Given how I have stated that my belongings were held hostage by these movers, I can't believe that was actually the response.

U-Haul International MovingHelp Review: Unprofessional and Careless Movers Caused Damage to Furniture and Home

I recently used MovingHelp (movinghelp.com) to move some furniture from my old place to my new place. I ordered their services for a small move, which included one couch, one loveseat, three IKEA universal bookshelves, and two IKEA bedside mirror stands. I was quoted $150 for the move, which was scheduled for February 25th at 9am.

Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. The movers did not show up at the scheduled time, and when I contacted them, they said they thought the move was scheduled for Monday instead of Sunday. They then asked for more money to come out to my location, which I refused since we had already agreed on a price. This back-and-forth continued for some time, with the movers demanding more money and me refusing to pay it.

Eventually, the movers did show up, but they were not very professional. They did not bring any blankets or straps to help with the move, and they did not use the dolly we had rented. Instead, they dragged our furniture across a hard rock driveway and scratched up our shelves in the process. They also damaged our walls and ceiling, and they broke the suspended ceiling in front of my door when they rammed my couch through it.

To make matters worse, the movers were not very careful with our furniture. They dragged our shelves instead of carrying them, and they ripped the protective plastic cover on my $3000 Tempur-pedic memory foam mattress. They also stained the mattress with dirty handprints and dragged the box spring along the floor, scratching it in the process.

Overall, this was a terrible moving experience. The movers were unprofessional and careless, and they caused hundreds of dollars in damage to my furniture and my home. I would not recommend MovingHelp to anyone looking for reliable movers.

U-Haul International Disappointing Experience with MovingHelp: Overbooked, Shortened Hours, and Unmotivated Movers

I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with MovingHelp. I shelled out $380 for 6 hours of moving help, but only got 4 hours of work from the two guys at All 4 You Movers. They said they were overbooked that morning and couldn't understand how we were able to book them for Saturday. I mean, come on, isn't that their job to figure out? Anyway, we needed to move ASAP so we couldn't wait for a refund. The guy on the phone agreed to move us on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning, which gave us less than 12 hours to pack everything. Talk about stressful! We thought we had 45 hours to pack, but ended up staying up all night to get everything ready.

When the two guys finally showed up, they seemed tired and not very motivated to help. They loaded up the U-Haul and then unloaded only the heavy items at our new apartment. The lead guy said he had to get to another job, so they left us with a truck full of boxes. My husband and son had to finish unloading everything themselves, which was really tough since I'm disabled and couldn't help. We even had to keep the truck for an extra 2 days because my husband had to start his new job.

To make matters worse, I originally placed the order on 10/29/20 and reserved the U-Haul for Saturday 10/31/20. But after a phone call on Thursday 10/29/20 with All 4 You Movers, we had to pick up the U-Haul earlier to fit into their schedule for Friday. It was a real mess.

Honestly, I'm pretty mad, upset, and frustrated all at once. I didn't get what I paid for and they left us in a really tough spot. I wouldn't recommend using MovingHelp to anyone. You never know who will show up and what kind of service you'll get.

U-Haul International Beware of MovingHelp: Shady Middlemen with Inexperienced Movers

MovingHelp is a service that I would not recommend to anyone. It seems like they are just a middle man for a bunch of shady characters who are looking to make a quick buck. If you want to ensure that your move goes smoothly and without any issues, then I suggest that you hire a professional moving company instead. With a professional moving company, you will have a formal contract at a flat fee, and if there is any damage, you will have recourse.

I have used MovingHelp a few times now, and all but one time, I have had so-called "Movers" who immediately start trying to renegotiate the terms. They always want to be paid in cash or claim that they haven't received the funds from MovingHelp when they actually have. This is an attempt to extort more money from me. If you choose to use this service and your provider starts talking about being able to work a better deal if you pay them cash, then you should hang up and not use them. They are scam artists!

Personally, I think that these folks need to be investigated. My last move was a disaster. When I totaled all the costs for the truck rental, cost of gas, my time, paying the "Movers" more than what was originally anticipated because they moved at the pace of a snail (something they do when paid by the hour, no incentive to move efficiently), it would have been cheaper to hire a professional moving company. This cost doesn't even include the damage to my belongings done by these inexperienced, couldn't give a damn "Movers"!

If you choose to use MovingHelp, I recommend that you use different "Movers" to load and unload your truck. My experience has shown that using the same for both will cost you more money because they think you should pay for them to drive to the next destination, and they also take their time loading up the truck because they know they're the ones who are going to unload it.

In conclusion, I would never use MovingHelp again. It's just not worth the hassle and the risk of dealing with shady characters who are looking to make a quick buck. If you want to ensure that your move goes smoothly and without any issues, then I suggest that you hire a professional moving company. They have workers who do this for a living, not as a side job, and they will take care of your belongings as if they were their own.

U-Haul International MovingHelp: A Total Disaster - My Experience with G & I Moving Company in Greensboro

I gotta say, my experience with MovingHelp was a total disaster. I mean, I paid for movers over two months ago and confirmed with G & I moving company a month ago that they would be there to help me move in Greensboro. I even called them the day before to make sure everything was still on track. But when moving day came, my movers were nowhere to be found. I tried calling them multiple times, left messages, and even sent emails, but they never got back to me. So I called MovingHelp for help, and let me tell you, I was on hold for a solid 20 minutes before anyone even picked up. Finally, they got in touch with my mover, who didn't even have the decency to talk to me and just hung up the phone.

It wasn't until three hours after they were supposed to start that my mover finally texted me and said he couldn't get in touch with his guys and that I should just cancel the service and find someone else. Like, seriously? He couldn't have called me earlier to let me know he couldn't do the job? And when I called MovingHelp to complain, they didn't even offer to help me find someone else. Instead, they asked me which contractor I wanted to use from their site. Are you kidding me? Your contractor messed up and you want me to pick another one from your site? And to top it all off, I paid the moving company directly for extra mileage, but the agent said they couldn't help me get my money back. I only picked that company because they were on MovingHelp's site, and now I'm out of pocket for something that wasn't even my fault.

I'm a physician, and I had to report to another state that weekend, but I was basically left stranded because of MovingHelp's incompetence. I'm reporting both them and G & I moving company to the BBB, and I'm going to write this review on every single review site I can find. MovingHelp is an absolute disgraceful and tactless business, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. It's an absolute scam.

U-Haul International Disappointing Experience with Moving Help: Not Worth the Risk

I was really excited to use Moving Help because I found them on the U-Haul website. I thought that if U-Haul was partnering with them, they must be good. But boy, was I wrong! Moving Help seems to be just a website that connects customers with moving service providers. I was connected with a company called "Bay, City Moving," and I couldn't find them on Yelp. When I Googled them, I found a listing, but it just sent me back to the Moving Help website.

The guys who came to load my few items seemed like professionals. The lead guy talked like he knew everything about moving. But when it came to protecting my furniture for a 700-mile move in a U-Haul trailer, he didn't know anything. I stressed over and over again that I wanted my furniture to be well-protected, but he assured me that he had it all under control. He said he would wrap the furniture in the moving blankets I provided and use his Tetris skills to make sure everything fit perfectly. "I'll take care of you, it will ride nice, no worries," he said.

But it didn't ride well at all. In fact, it was the opposite. The bouncing of the trailer on the highway had jostled every pad out of place, leaving my expensive furniture to rub against the walls of the trailer and each other. It was a disaster.

I was really disappointed that U-Haul didn't stand behind Moving Help. When I called U-Haul to complain, they just gave me the Moving Help number, which I had to wait on hold for a long time to get through to. I also didn't feel comfortable with the Moving Help website. It seemed like they were just middlemen connecting customers with random moving companies. In this case, I don't even think "Bay, City Moving" is a real company. They don't have an address or a website. It could just be a group of guys trying to make some extra money by pretending to be movers.

Overall, I would not recommend Moving Help. It's not worth the risk of getting connected with a shady moving company.

U-Haul International Unprofessional and Disappointing Experience with All Star Movers through MovingHelp

I recently hired All Star movers through MovingHelp to clean my apartment after moving out. Unfortunately, my experience with this company was far from satisfactory. Firstly, there was no disclaimer on the website stating that I needed to provide the cleaning supplies, and the cleaning company confirmed that this had been an issue with customers for the past three years.

The movers arrived two hours late, and I had to call them twice to follow up. Their excuse was that they had accidentally gone to a town 20-30 minutes away, which made no sense. I had hired two men for two hours, but three men showed up for less time, claiming they had other jobs. This was completely inappropriate. The leader of the team loudly complained about cleaning the blinds while I was in the next room, and then again to me in person. He had not complained before when I had asked them to clean it. Upon closer inspection after they left, I realized that he had broken the blinds and damaged a shower door without saying anything. I was able to fix the door myself. They also stood on my air conditioner to reach something, which was not safe.

The cleaning was not done professionally, and they did not seem to know how to use a vacuum cleaner. I had to tell them to clean things that they had missed, and I had to go over the apartment again myself to clean properly. They left the apartment in a terrible state, and I did not even tip them. It is unacceptable that MovingHelp wants to be waived from liability and does not vet the companies on their site.

I tried to contact someone at MovingHelp through email to voice my dissatisfaction while the work was being done, but there was no phone number available. The Uhaul customer service agent was not helpful and did not direct me to anyone who could assist me.

If you are looking for professional movers, I would recommend McCollister's Transportation instead of Uhaul. Overall, my experience with All Star movers through MovingHelp was very unprofessional and disappointing.

U-Haul International Unresponsive, Unprofessional, and Unreliable: My Experience with Southeastern Relocation Group through Moving Help.com

Me and my wife had a pretty bad experience with SOUTHEASTERN RELOCATION GROUP through MOVING HELP.COM. We had scheduled a move on July 6, 2017, and everything seemed fine until the day of the move. We tried to contact them through my cell phone, but we couldn't get a hold of them. We tried calling them 17 times, but there was no answer, and their voicemail box was full. We even received two calls back, but when we answered, there was no one on the other end. It was frustrating, to say the least.

We decided to try texting them, and that's when we finally got a response. It was already 3 pm, and we were running out of time. We had to hire a different moving company at a higher cost because of the last-minute request and the time of day. It was a hassle, and we were not happy about it.

As someone who works in customer service, I believe that customers are the lifeblood of any company. They should be treated with respect and given timely, efficient, and courteous service. Unfortunately, SOUTHEASTERN RELOCATION GROUP failed to deliver on all these fronts. They were unresponsive, unprofessional, and unreliable. I don't think they should be allowed to advertise on UHAL or MOVING.COM network.

Despite the bad experience, I have to admit that the initial communication with SOUTHEASTERN RELOCATION GROUP was promising. They responded to my text messages promptly and asked relevant questions about the move. However, things went downhill from there. They failed to show up on time, and we couldn't get a hold of them when we needed to. It was a frustrating experience, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a reliable moving company, I suggest you look elsewhere. SOUTHEASTERN RELOCATION GROUP may seem like a good option at first, but they're not worth the hassle. Save yourself the trouble and find a company that values its customers and delivers on its promises.

U-Haul International MovingHelp: A Worthless Scam - Our Disastrous Experience with Magnificent Mighty Movers

We had to store our furniture for a few weeks while we waited for our new home to be completed. We were on a tight budget, so we decided to go with UBoxes from UHaul. We reserved the boxes and requested assistance, and we were assigned a company called Magnificent Mighty Movers. We thought that since we insured the boxes, the contents would be covered for damages. However, when we opened the boxes, we found that furniture pads were not utilized. Bags of unopened furniture pads from UHaul tumbled out of the boxes. We were disappointed but decided to move forward with the move.

After the move, we immediately pointed out two damaged items to one of the owners of Magnificent Mighty Movers. One was a leather chair, and the other was a nightstand. The owner assured us that he would take care of it. However, as we unpacked and moved furniture around, we discovered countless gouges on both the furniture and the new walls. One in particular was a deep gouge and nearly foot-long scratch on a maple drop-leaf table built by my late father. We were devastated.

We contacted UHaul, who explained that the movers were a contract company and were overseen by MovingHelp. The UHaul representative also stated that these movers were trained before they were contracted, and it sounded as though they did not use the furniture pads in packing the UBoxes. We photographed and documented everything so we would have a record of damages. We contacted MovingHelp with our documentation, and we were told we needed to make a claim. They encouraged us to work things out with the provider.

The company owners had only excuses and believed they could fix the damages themselves. We knew that we would not be satisfied with this and consulted a furniture repair expert who said the surface of the dining room table would need to be planed down to correct the deep gouge. It has been three months since we moved, and we are still dealing with the aftermath of this move. We are disgusted with the whole process.

MovingHelp is a worthless scam of a company with no assistance in mediating between the consumer and the movers. UHaul needs to be more prudent in who they recommend. In the end, this move is costing us more than if we had gone with a professional moving company and paid the cost for storage. We are attaching two examples of the damages. We hope that others will learn from our experience and choose a reputable moving company.

U-Haul International MovingHelp.com Review: Late, Unprepared Movers Damaged My Belongings and Overcharged Me for Services

So, I was in a real bind and needed some help moving from Milwaukee, WI. I found MovingHelp.com and thought, "Hey, this looks like a good option!" I requested three moving helpers for three hours through their website and waited for the big day.

When the helpers finally showed up, they were 20 minutes late and didn't bring any equipment with them. No dollies, no lifting straps, no tools - nothing! I was pretty disappointed, but I figured we could make do. Unfortunately, they didn't do a great job and ended up damaging several of my belongings. My freezer was dented to hell, my ceramic grill was chipped, and my tool chest was tipped and dinged.

To make matters worse, after an hour of helping me move, the person in charge told me that his "buddy" had to leave for work and he had to go with him. I had paid for three guys for three hours, but he said he was only told they were supposed to be there for two hours. I assumed my request for the additional hour didn't go through. Since I needed to get things done, I said fine and the other two helpers continued on with me.

Thankfully, those two helpers were quick and efficient, and we finished up in two hours. However, when I checked my statement a day or two later, I noticed that I was charged for the full three helpers and three hours. I put in a request for a resolution and explained the situation, but it took them two weeks to get back to me. When they finally did, they said they wouldn't refund me because I booked more hours than I needed. I told them that the helpers said they were only scheduled for two hours, but they didn't seem to care.

Overall, I was really disappointed with MovingHelp.com. The company they contracted the job to was even worse, and the "movers" they sent didn't know how to move anything without damaging it. On top of that, their customer service was subpar at best. If you're looking for help with a move, I'd recommend looking somewhere else. This company just isn't worth it.

U-Haul International Movinghelp.com Review: Charged Twice, Order Not Booked, Terrible Support, Technical Glitches

Movinghelp.com is not a website I would recommend for booking your move. I had a lot of trouble with their website and it resulted in my card being charged twice, but my order was not booked. I spent a total of 6 hours trying to troubleshoot the issue with them, but I still haven't been able to get my order booked correctly. Even though I'm pretty good with technology, I couldn't figure out what was going on.

The worst part is that they charged my account twice and won't release the holds. I'm afraid to try booking with them again because they might use up all my available money and still not book my move.

When you try to book your order online, you might get an error message that tells you to recheck your billing information. I did that, but it was denied because they had already charged my account. They didn't tell me that they had charged me, so I kept seeing the same error message over and over again. I only found out that they had charged me by checking my bank account.

The next day, I deposited more money and called my bank to verify my billing address. I tried to book another order, but the same thing happened.

The email support from Movinghelp.com has been terrible. They blame me for entering the wrong billing information, even though I took a picture of it and it was 100% accurate. They told me to ask my bank to release the hold, even though everyone knows that only merchants can release holds.

There is clearly a technical glitch with their website because I was able to book two jobs through Uhaul.com this week and they were both paid for and completed successfully. I'm still trying to book my third order this week, but I'm having a lot of trouble with Movinghelp.com.

Even though the first two jobs went well, I'm giving Movinghelp.com a 1-star rating because they charged my account before verifying my billing information, they were rude to me, and they insisted that I had made an error with my billing information even though it was correct. They also told me that it would cost me $9.95 to talk to support on the phone to fix the problem.

I can't trust them because they still have two pending charges on my account and I don't know if they're holds or charges that I'll have to dispute later.

If you're looking for a good moving company, I would suggest looking for a different one. I need to find a mover for this Thursday afternoon, Feb 6, 2020, and Movinghelp.com still has two $82 + $54 holds on my account.

U-Haul International Avoid MovingHelp: My Experience with E & A Moving Company

I had a really bad experience with MovingHelp and I want to share it with you so that you don't have to go through the same thing. I really think you should avoid this company at all costs.

I booked my Ubox delivery and load and unload services through MovingHelp over a month ago. They connected me with E & A Moving Company, who I spoke to when I made the order. They told me they would arrive at 11:30am on June 30. I got a confirmation from MovingHelp via text on June 29. On June 30 at 8:15am, I called E & A to confirm that they were coming later that day. They said they would arrive with my Uboxes in the middle of the day, but they hadn't received any information about where to get my Uboxes. I was able to give them that information through the MovingHelp website, and they said they would call and confirm this with the local Uhaul location.

At 1:30pm, E & A still hadn't arrived so I called them again to check in. They said they would be heading my way shortly from the next town over, and expected to arrive around 2pm. But 2pm came and went. At 4pm, I called them twice, and they didn't answer. I started to suspect that something was wrong, so I called the local Uhaul store. They confirmed that my Uboxes had never been picked up. I called E & A again, and for the third time, they didn't answer. Because MovingHelp had closed for the day (it was now 4:30pm), I called Uhaul. They told me that if I wanted to make new reservations for today, the lowest cost moving help would be over $1100--more than twice the cost of my original moving help. This is no doubt due to the fact that I had to do this at the last minute, after being stood up. I had no choice but to move forward with this high-cost option. The one-day delay on my move also meant that I will receive my storage boxes three days later than originally scheduled, which is a significant and unquantifiable inconvenience for me.

Today, I finally got through to someone at MovingHelp after waiting on hold for almost half an hour. She told me that MovingHelp would not pay any of the difference in cost for my new moving services, and worse still, they would continue to work with E & A Moving Company. In other words: they would do absolutely nothing about my experience. Not even a symbolic gesture of remorse or concern. As I told the agent, I cannot in good conscience recommend MovingHelp to anyone if there is no recourse for egregious situations such as my own.

U-Haul International Disgusting customer service

I have never been treated with such unprofessionalism at a business establishment. The way one of your employees (Thomas Sullivan) treated me, and the profane language he used with me was outright disgusting.

The rental for a car tow was made at your location 279 Oakland Beach Ave. Warwick, RI store # 796058 to pull a car to Newport News, VA. While pulling the car the trailer swayed more that a trailer should regardless of the speed. Once we made it to Newport News, I called the office to find out if there was anything that could be done such as: have it inspected to make sure nothing was wrong with tires, switch out trailers or leave the trailer in VA due to possible safety issues. I was given Mr. Sullivans cell number [protected]) to call for him to help me. I explained the issue, but he began to tell me that it was my fault, and I was driving too fast. When I tried to explain to him that it was happening regardless of the speed, he then wanted a picture of the car I was pulling. He called back after I did not send the picture and I again tried to explain that the car was not the issue, but I thought it was the trailer itself. He then began to get hostile stating “I don’t know what scam you are trying to pull” and continued to overtalk me as I again wanted to explain the situation. The conversation got hostile, and the profanity began. I was told that if I took it to the local U-Haul that I would be charged $900. After being hung up on I then called customer service who directed me to the local U-Haul for an inspection of the trailer which indeed had tire bearing issues causing the excessive swaging. Instead of changing out the trailer there I was made to transport the now confirmed “unsafe” trailer back to its original location. (VA to RI).

Not only was this uncalled for and downright ridiculous, but now I am stuck hauling a damaged trailer through a few states.

U-Haul International Service

The last week of April, a friend of mine help me reserve a 10 ft truck. I specifically heard him tell the person I needed a truck for the 13th of May to move from Burley, Idaho to Everett, Washington, all the info was given. I saw the email and glanced at it, I saw the pickup time as 9am Saturday the13th. My daughter and son-in law who took the day off work drove from Washington to Idaho expecting to pick the truck up in the morning. The next morning I again looked at the email and it said pick up 9am drop off 1pm that same day... they had reserved a truck for in town for 4 hours... NOT what I had reserved the truck for. I called the number and talked to Samantha. She told me that was what the reservation was written for. I told her no it was not, she then proceeded to tell me there was no truck available till Sunday at 1pm. (possibly).

My neighbor, son-in law and I called all over to find a truck there were no trucks available anywhere from Boise to Pocatello... How do you as a moving company expect to service your customers if you can not even supply any truck? It seems you expect the customers to accommodate your schedule instead of accommodating ours. Your company wasted my time and money, and your representative did not seem apologetic at all... This is not how you run a legitimate business... maybe you should learn how to distribute your trucks so when a customer reserves on in advance, they will be served appropriately.

Desired outcome: the outcome i think should happen will not and this email will most likely be disregarded .

U-Haul International Uhaul storage unit

I rented a unit at the Hamilton location, Upper Ottawa & Rymal. I first tried to rent on their website but nothing was working so I called there customer service number. They reserved the unit for me. When I arrived at the uhaul location I went to the unit, it had a lock on it from another customer. One of the workers there proceeded to cut the lock off. The previous renter still had items in the locker. The worker then proceeded to find me another unit. My husband and I both have arthritis that is why we wanted a ground floor climate controlled unit. They did not have any available, they proceeded to give a climate controlled unit on the second floor. There is no elevator for people to use, there is only a service elevator that is for your belongings. People are not allowed on the elevator. We accepted only because we already had are things in the uhaul trailer and it was getting later in the day. We had to rent a trailer from another uhaul because this location did not have any. This whole process to about an hour before we could even move are things into the unit. We asked about the first month free and we were told that the payment had already gone through and that we would get the second month free and they switched our information to the other unit.

Going forward one month, I received a email from Brenda Cayuga letting me know that my payment for May was due on the May 5. I emailed her back and explained what was happening. She proceeded to email me back and said that we already received our first month free and that my payment for May was due. I wrote back explaining again what took place and to this day have not received a response from her. My husband went to the location to find out what was going on because we did not get a response. He was told that we do not get a months free unit because we did not rent a truck or trailer per their policy. We did rent a trailer, but it was from a different uhaul because this uhaul did not have any available. They told my husband that we are not intitled to a month free and that we needed to pay.

I went there to show them the emails that I received stating that I did get the first month free, which is not true because I have a bank statement showing the payment to uhaul on April 5. I told them I received the emails from Brenda Cayuga and they told me they don't know who that is, and that those emails could be from anyone and they did not care that I had those emails. They said they do not know who Brenda Cayuga is, but her name is on the office front door. They were very rude and told me they do not care what I was trying to explain and that is "too bad, you have to pay"! They kept saying that we were not intitled to a month free. Although I did explain to them that I did rent another unit from the same location back in September 2022, I did not rent a truck or trailer, and they did give me the first month free. Then they proceeded to tell me to get out or they would call the police and have me removed. This is totally unacceptable way to treat customers. I have contacted the corporate office and I am waiting for a response. I will be removing my items from that location today so they do no stop me from getting my belongings. I have never been treated this way by a business and I will definitely not be using uhaul in the future.

Desired outcome: I want to be reimbursed for the one month that I did pay for, because that is what they stated. I do want an apology for the way I was treated by the staff and the franchise owner.

U-Haul International Water damage to property

We rented a truck to travel across 2 states and it rained on us for almost 15 hours. After the long ride we get home to wet things. I documented it and brought it up to Uhaul and was told oh just put it in the online doc. Nothing happened I called they sent me over to claims. Then they said the insurance I paid for would not cover it so another kind of claim had to be done. So I did the crazy paperwork to find out that it was denied. According to Repwest there where test done with no water that came in and therefore I had to give them a video or picture of the water actively coming in to have it approved. The rep even went as far as to blame me for somehow staging it and damaging my property and putting water in the truck somehow. I tried talking to a manager with no luck. I even tried Uhaul directly again no luck. I filed a better business complaint and again no luck. I asked for proof of this test they did and they told me I could not have that. Meanwhile I am out $1000 for the rental and $2500 in damaged items. Somehow they can ask me for something ridiculous to approve my claim but wont give me proof of my denial.

Desired outcome: I would like my money back for rental and my payout for damages

U-Haul International Store

Uhaul employee had me explain my question 3 different times and still could not understand my question. The rep said you can’t go another day past your reserved number of days if someone has reserved the truth. They also said if you go another day past they charge you for more days. My question was simply what is the penalty for keeping the truck another day if someone has reserved it. She could not provide an answer at any time and instead of offering that I speak to someone else she kept making me repeat the question and finically I got frustrated and said she was dumb. She clearly is very dumb and that is going to piss people off. I have used uahul many times and never dealt with someone so retarded. She can’t understand simple things.

Desired outcome: An apology, have the person fired and let me make a reservation at a discount.

In the first week of October 2022 I rented a van from U-Haul in Rialto for 24 hours. It was damaged before I left the lot, which I took video and photo evidence of, and only had 3/4 fuel in the tank. When I returned the unit I did so several hours earlier than was required of me, with a completely full fuel tank, and no additional damages. I informed the...

U-Haul International Fraud, libel/slander, injury to personal property, racism and discrimination and violation of my inalienable rights

September 24, 2021 eye informed Uhaul in regards to the discrimination and racism that Janelle Fowler happily provided to me. This did not address the fraud, libel/slander, violations of my inalienable rights, injury to personal property or the oral contract that was ignored. It all started when eye was online and eye saw multiple discounts and promotions for military personnel. Eye provided my DD2's for verification and was told that if eye submitted proof to the local store eye could take advantage of the discounts and promotions for the military. Eye did this. Initially DeArianne Loggins informed me that August storage rental would be waived because of the discrepancy pertaining to the military discounts and promotions being offered online. After multiple days eye was informed that the location eye had my belongings at did not honor the military discounts and promotions that were being offered online. David Gilmore the President of Marketing decided a lock needed to be placed on my storage unit after our conversation (retaliation for speaking with FairShake) and to make matters worse Steven Berman felt bold and entitled enough to tell me he does not play around with obscure international references when eye informed him eye was and am sovereign. Uhaul, David Gilmore, Steven Berman and Janelle Fowler violated my inalienable rights not to mention the other crimes they are guilty of. David Riahi from your legal department provided me with Case [protected].

Desired outcome: An apology, as well as a refund.

U-Haul International uhaul Ubox

I reserved a Ubox in October of 2021 for July of 2022. My boxes were delivered, I only used one box, and they came to get the boxes, while only shipping one. Before I moved I called to have the box shipped 8/1/2022. On July 6,2022 I got a call asking if I was ready for the box, I said No; I requested it to be shipped on 8/1.. Ok so Uhaul was trying to take out the shipping fee from my account, yet It took sometime to work and it came out on 8/6. The box was shipped on 8/7 to arrive in Florida on 8/9.. All this information was on the website! I called NJ on 8/10, to locate box, I was sent a text message with the information. Went to the uhaul in Florida, and no box. For a week no one could locate my box. I was told that for every day it was late, I would receive $50 dollars. The box got to Florida on 8/15 which meant I was to receive $300..I have spoken to a number of different people who can not give me a straight answer concerning my issue. I have had access to my box, and I have also received a receipt for a payment I didn't make. I have a complaint # and a reference # to my issues, yet still have not heard anything from anybody.

Desired outcome: I want my money!!

U-Haul International Truck rental price

i wanted to rent a truck (26') from u-haul going from Middletown NY to Augusta Ga. the price i was quoted with a car tow, is ~$4900.00!

the same truck and equipment for the same distance going from Augusta to NY.

same locations and all are ~$530.00!

this is an outrage; price gouging is an understatement to say the least. please, please investigate this. this company is preying on the fact that the housing market has boomed, and they are robbing people for the same services that should cost an equal price. i spoke with an employee as to why the cost was so astronomical and was told that they are having problems obtaining equipment.

that is pure nonsense. there are multiple fleets of trucks and many locations to obtain trucks from, not to mention hundreds of drivers to coordinate with.

patrons are being exploited and taken advantage of. please help. thank you

Desired outcome: equal and fair pricing for identical services.
