Trend Micro unwanted product renewal

I was charged for a product renewal without authorization. The customer number was [protected], the renewal order number was [protected], and the original order number was [protected]. Because I did not authorize this renewal (and because I was not set up to auto-renew), I was charged $44.95 against my will. I was informed of this false charge through the email trendoem.[protected]@digitalriver.com. I would submit a proof photo with this as well, but because the email includes personal information, I would like to refrain until I am contacted about this problem.

Order & Billing Information

Order Date: 03/27/2011

Order ID: PTLC-C270311-21VLG

I wish to unsubscribe for the "File Cure" product I once ordered. Furthermore I detest doing business with Companies that use automatic renewals in their marketing strategies. In the future I shall be more prudent to prevent this sort of thing from happening to me again.

Thanks for your help.

Trend Micro This is a scam and many innocent people are losing money.

I was charged 35.00 by Mircro Trend Virus Protection service and did not authorized this action. When I visited the website, there wasn't a customer service number listed. I called tech support and the call was never received... it just rang. When I went back to the complaints boards listed about this same company, they were unavailable. I think this is a scam and many innocent people are losing money.

Trend Micro unauthorized crdit card transaction

Complaint written to Trend Micro, 25.12.3011:

I am a long term customer of Trend Micro having installed the Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security Program on one of my computers and Smart Surfing on the other. I thought I should be safe from fraud and now I get scammed by you, the very company that should protect me from fraud! You have charged me AU$ 69.95 for something I didn't order (Text: DRI* Trend Micro orderfind.com). I have reported you to my credit card company as a first step and now I will do anything I can to expose your dishonest action. When my subscriptions run out I will not renew them. Trough your dishonesty and deception you lost me as a customer. In 5 years of my using a credit card as a form of payment you of all are the very first scammers I encounter. Bloody shame on you! I expect you to credit me with the amount of AU$ 69.95 quick smart!

I was charged on my credit card for this product that I did not order in the first place. Further more after some research it was $30.00 higher than than the most expensive package. I was charged $99.90 to my account. Is that not illegal! I would like a credit on my account because I did not authorize it and also did not get the product either. Legal action will be taken if this is not taken care of promptly!

Trend Micro unauthorized charge

My husband just called me from work: "honey, did you authorize a charge for $31.99 this weekend?" "no." "there's a charge showing up on my visa card that I didn't make. I want to know if I need to call the bank." "what does it say on your statement?" "dri fmnri" "that's helpful... Not! Let me google it... No, nothing." "wait a second... Something else is showing up here. It says trend micro." "trend micro?" "yeah, it's a pending charge..." "trend micro: here's a message board. It says trend micro scam. I'm sending you the link." "good, thanks."

So people, to avoid getting bit in the # like so many people here on this message board, 1.) check your bank account every the morning, 2.) question all charges and 3.) keep on reporting scams like trend micro — our persistence in exposing a creepy company just like this won us a nice little settlement from a lawsuit a few years ago. Remember those key words friends: trend micro scam, unauthorized charges, dri fmnri (Now that's a real informative little set of letters, isn't it?), trend micro ripoff, et cetera...

In September of 2008 I purchased a laptop computer from Best Buy. In conjunction with the computer I purchased one year of Trend Micro Anti-virus/spyware for 29.99. I renewed the subscription the following year for the same period (1 year) and cost (29.99). As of mid August, 2010 I started getting emails regarding the impending lapse of the subscription at the start of September. I do not use the computer any longer so do not need to purchase their product. Therefore, I did not answer a single email. Furthermore, my banking information has changed from National City to PNC per the merger so the debit card is no longer valid. I suspect they would have simply charged me had my banking information not changed.

In summmary - I did not want their product, they did research to figure out my new banking information for PNC, and charged me 62.95. This same complaint is being filed with the Better Business Bureau immediately.

Below is an excerpt from my banking statement:

09/13/2010 CHECK CARD PURCHASE XXXXX8377 DRI*TREND MICRO ORDERFIND.C MN $62.95

Fix this now. If it is not taken care of I am willing to pay an attorney a few hundred bucks to take care of it.

Thanks,

Ian Dalrymple

Trend Micro deceptive practices

Unauthorized billing and deceptive business practices: Trend Micro came with my Dell computer. When it expired, I bought a renewal online for 48.95. I could not get the renewal to activate. After about 3 hrs trying to resolve the issue unsuccessfully, I sought a refund. No success. This company does everything possible to try to prevent any contact from the customer to interact with personnel. So, I initiated a dispute with Bank of America, the credit card I used. After another hour on the phone with the B of A guy, trying different numbers, etc., finally I got a promise of a refund (we'll see if I get it!). In the process, I found out that they had signed me up for automatic renewals without my authorization. Either it was in the "terms and conditions" fine print, or they just slammed me (another complaint says that there was nothing in the fine print about this). The B of A guy got them (supposedly... it was somebody in India.. who knows) to take off the automatic renewals, but other people say that they got them anyway.
This company is engaged in deceptive practices and tries to prevent customers from directly contacting them to resolve problems. Their service is also terrible even when you get somebody... basically they just sent me an email directing me back to the website. Horrible experience, and so typical of the many companies nowdays that have their business plan based on deceipt. Another ripoff in the great free-for-all USA... home of the "service industry" which is another term for scams, ripoffs and bad service!

Terrible customer service. Purchased disc, installed software and computer kept crashing badly. The authorized repair facility had a terrible time uninstalling it with their uninstall program. Still had trendmicro files that locked up or crashed computer. Filled out form and attached receipt to request money back within 30 days of purchase. Then they offered tech support, after request money back. Then their tech told me to take it back to the store, but the store has a 15 day return policy. So the trendmicro tech was dictating store policy, well such a narcissistic attitude. Still waiting for refund after 2-1/2 months. Horrible product and company.

I canceled my account with Trend Micro internet security. Well guess what? I just received a " Conformation" for renewal, order # [protected] for $44.95. I canceled their product because it didn't work well over a year ago. I now regret ever doing bussiness with them. I will now try to recover my money.

Trend Micro charge on credit card for item not purchased

I received a charge on my Amex card on 11/8/2011 for an item that I did not purchase. I am really upset at having something billed to my credit card with the idea that this company would think that my credit card bill would not be looked at. I want a full refund in the amount of $72.67 immediately... The company really should credit me $145.34 just for the fact that they pissed me off by charging me for something I didn't order and for the fact that I know have to fight to get my money back. I will be contacting American Express as well to make sure that no other charges from this company come through on my credit card.

Trend Micro double billed

Like a lot of other people I have been double-billed for my micro-trend security. Once on the 6th Sept for $107.95 and onc eon 7th Sept for $99.95 + $7.95. Judging by the complaints I have read this has happened to a hell of a lot of people. Is this money to be refunded or what happenes next?

I paid for my renewal of the trendmicro virus protection on Feb. 22, then I was billed again on Feb. 28th. Since this is a debit from my checking account and it was at the end of the month the double billing was not caught until I started balancing my checkbook. I like your product but do not want to be charged twice for it. Please contact me as soon as possible.

Trend Micro fraud

I was also falsely charged by this company. I contacted my credit card company to remove it but TM verified the charge. I have contacted them myself & have been bombarde daily with automated emails saying they are closing my case because I have not responded in X amount of hours. I do respond to some of them, but they only send more of the same emails. They do not remove the charge. I would like to start a class action lawsuit against them since they are doing ths to so many people. You can contact me if this has happened to you. [protected]@yahoo.com

Trend Micro extremely high renewal price

When going through the subscription renewal process, I noticed their asking price for the renewal of Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security software is 220% higher than what I paid a year ago...and an equal premium compared to buying a NEW subscription (for the identical product) via CheapAntiVirus.com. Buyer beware!

Trend Micro fraud

Avoid this company like the plague. They did not send me an email to notify me of my choice to renew software but instead charged my credit card and then lied to my bank about it by telling my bank when I allegedly purchased a renewal with my visa/debit card. I received no confirmation from dri trend micro either about their charging my card and my alleged renewal. Company is also not available by telephone to discuss the matter with me. Shame on them! I'm sorry that they are ripping off so many people and I hope that this fraud will be stopped asap.

Trend Micro scam

Trend Micro has been charging me for a renewal fee that I never wanted for almost a year up to now.
The first one was for $44.95 while the 2nd one was for $ 62.95. I have cancelled the charge for this year since it was covered by their 30 day trial period but for the 1st charge, they wouldn't give me a refund for that. I called every dept they have and still no refund, then I checked my credit card statement and they havent refunded my the $ 62.95.

I was really furious, how do I get my money back, this is ridiculous. I never asked them to charge me in the first place, now I have to deal with them every single day for that. Please help me.

I called their sales dept and found out that the first person I talked to who refunded my 2011 renewal fee didn't even cancel the auto renewal. That was the whole problem in the first place! The sales dept refused to refund my last two years worth of fees and blamed me for not reading my credit card statements in a timely manner. Oh I see, you send me countless emails asking me to renew my subscription and when I don't, you charge me anyway. Now you tell me it's MY fault because I didn't check my credit card statement soon enough to catch them! Why send emails asking me to renew if you just renew it yourself automatically?!

Is there any way I can recover my money from them?

I bet I know who this is that took your money. There's a scam where I got $78.00 taken from my checking account after I went online to apply for a payday loan. There's two companies: Ivory White (teeth whitening) and Eyepothesis that have been taking money left and right unauthorized from people...many complaints on here about those two. They use deceptive practices telling people that there is a free trial period then proceed to take the $78 each for the product even before you can receive the products to see if you like them. Also, there's an Ultimate Savings Plus that's connected to many products so if you happen to apply or order free anything, they go right away and take out money from your bank account. I've had over $200 taken from my account by these scammers. Ivory White and Eyepothesis is located in Boulder, Colo. and Ultimate Savings Plus I think is in Virginia.

How do I find out WHY we were charged two times for the same thing. We bought multiple user license and now we are getting charged two times.

I was also charged 2 times. One for $55.95 and one for $71.95. We just received this protection over 1 year ago.

Trend Micro unauthorized charge

According to Visa I had a charge on 2-2-11 for 35.95 charged by DRITRENDMICRO that I did not order. I do not have a telephone number for this company to deny this charge. Please advise me how I am to get this fraudulant charge off my card.

Thank YOu,

Ann Poythress

Over the internet we signed up for security for our computer with Trend Micro. In checking our online banking statement we saw that they had charged us the $32 and some odd cents for the security and then scrolled down to see an additional $38. + charge for some ridiculous service we did not authorize. It's pretty bad when you can't trust a security service - Since it was a pending charge we called our bank and they removed it. The next day THEY HAD IT ON AGAIN! Our Bank called them and they removed it again. Better keep a watch on those people - and your bank statement - they don't give up trying!

HI Ann, I find the number for vendors on my statement. But, to dispute the charge, you can just call Visa. Thier number is on the back of your credit card. They should open a dispute and credit the charge amount to your account until the end of thier investigation. If they agree, the charge goes away. For disreputable companies, it is important to dispute charges, as they do it to people often and many folks just pay thier bills without looking. Good luck.

Trend Micro double billed / won't fix expiration date

Trend micro has done the double charging thing again. On feb 3, they charged $250 us for a $116 purchase. They tried to lie and claim that the bank did it. I got the bank to remove the extra charge.

Then, my new subscription had an expiration date of three days from now! I called for the third time today, demanded a supervisor and it took over an hour for someone to find a supervisor. I was promised a fix to the expiration date that has not happened yet.

Plus the servers are down and the product won't update. If they don't fix it, they will probably delay a refund. Usually a place that screwed up will delay a refund.
