PetSmart Manager (Judy) - unacceptable & inappropriate behavior

Sunday 09/20/20 at approx 6:00pm I went to PetSmart to exchange a 17lb bag of Royal Canin Digestive Care dry dog food (for sensitive stomach), as the bag I had purchased were big bites instead of small bites (which my miniature poodle cannot eat) due to the bag being in the wrong area placed with the small bites bags. An associate mentioned this sometimes happens since bag packages can look identical.
The friendly cashier took my bag asking me to go grab the correct bag to exchange it when the manager (Judy) then came rushing up to interfere and disrupt us, thus pulling me aside to question my return. I explained I was exchanging the bag of big bites for the bag of small bites which both bags were the same price of $53.99, although I had purchased it with a 20% off coupon for $43.19 wanting an even exchange for that same price (which the cashier was going to do) and that it was in the wrong area placed with the small bites. She refused stating, "I don't care" and that I will get back what I paid for it and will pay full price for the other bag. I then asked for the bag to be returned on a card to then re-purchase the correct bag with that card (both the same price). She again refused saying I have to use my receipt. I asked why she is so unfriendly and felt she was picking on me. She stated, "It's just that you cause trouble and always want something for nothing" which was totally inappropriate for her to say to me and very insulting! My mother and I literally spend hundreds of dollars a month at PetSmart and are great customers.
When getting back in line to purchase the other bag, I overheard Judy tell the other manager (Mei) that she was leaving, but first decided to come and stand by the cashier to make sure he wasn't exchanging the bag which I then assured her I already told him I was unable to exchange it, which he confirmed to her me telling him this. She then proceeded to leave the store.
I took my purchase to the car and came back in (in tears) to talk to the other manager (Mei) who was very nice and witnessed how Judy was treating me stating her behavior was inappropriate to me and that she was going to tell the store manager; also agreeing that Judy could have simply given me the same price or simply returned it to a card to then in turn re-purchase the other bag.
A month prior when Judy rang me up, I mentioned I had forgotten my coupon and would bring it the next day with my receipt, which she told me it was too late and I could not do that, although I still did the next day and had no problem doing so. Another time I asked her a question regarding an item which she stated, "I don't know" and proceeded to do whatever she was doing with no interest or concern in helping me. Still another time I asked where something was located where she just pointed ‘that way' (which I never did locate the item). I feel she harasses and picks on me instead of treating me equally fair as a valued customer, and her behavior toward me has been unacceptable with an ‘I don't care' attitude.
It seems time for a change with some of the management in this store, as it seems some have no customer service skills. I have been shopping there for years since this store first opened and before that when located by Costco Drive, and now the morale of this store has gone way down. Most managers there do not greet you or say hi when passing by and are just so unfriendly and unprofessional. My dog gets so excited to go to PetSmart, although I stopped taking him to their groomer out of concern since some of the managers are so unfriendly. It used to be a wonderful store before some of the current managers came and is just not the same. I feel most likely nothing will be done to address this, although I am hoping so in getting the quality customer service back they previously had. I definitely know their behavior would not be tolerated if working at another store! I know a lot of people in my neighborhood and at our park who are instead shopping at Petco which I may now consider.
If someone would please contact me so that I know this was received, it would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

PetSmart Grooming

Petsmart in Springfield PA booking number [protected]. Took my kids Dogs on 08/16/2020 for a full service grooming. My daughter's dog seemed to have gotten nipped in the nose but I was not informed. Her receipt said she did very well. It got worst as the night progressed and she eventually started bleeding.

PetSmart Discrimination and harassment

At Pet smart store #0376 120 31st Avenue Puyallup, WA 98374. On July 26, 2020 at 11:40am I went birthday shopping with my best friend for tank décor for the betta fish that I had purchased the day before. We were having a great time and were talking excitedly about the items we would be purchasing. We were also stopping by for dog food which we do together regularly. My friend went to look down one more side isle before we left, and I was standing in the middle of the main isle; when I heard ''[censored]'' I looked towards the sound the voice and saw a man take un intake of breath through the bandanna mask he was wearing (because I could see that the bandanna was inhaled into his mouth) he then said ''[censored]'' as he looked right at me. I could see the man was standing behind a desk, and the words above him said pet hotel. I watched him as he then began to look down at a clip board. My friend returned and we went up to the cashier's counter. I asked the cashier what the name of the man who worked at the pet hotel name was. She told me that there was no man working at the pet hotel. I told her that there was a man behind the desk at the pet hotel. She called her manager, who arrived at the cash register wearing the same bandanna and he was flushed red around his temples. She asked him if there was a man working at the pet hotel, he wouldn't even look at me. He said ''no, there is no man working at the pet hotel.'' I said ''I know it was you what is your name?'' He responded ''Curtis'' I was about to leave when ''Curtis'' called in the head manager, so I waited. The head manager came over and asked me what the problem was. I told the head manager that this man who was wearing the bandanna had just done to me. And the head manager then began to argue with me as if it were incredulous that this man who was obviously the floor manager to have been behind the desk at the pet hotel. I even let the head manager talk me into going over to the pet hotel to see if there was a man working there. When there was no man at the desk at the pet hotel. The head manager began to tell me that ''Curtis'' would not have said that because ''Curtis'' was a gay man. 'That Was Illegal!' I should have asked for the head manager's name right then, but I didn't believe what he had told me about ''Curtis.'' So I said, ''Yeah right, and that Curtis was acting'' and I then told the head manager, ''How would he know because he had never been to ''Curtis's house'' and I walked out. Not only was ''Curtis'' harassing me for what he believed to be my sexual orientation, but he was also slandering me by calling me a sexually derogatory name because of my gender. The head manager also sexually exploited ''Curtis'' by telling me in front of the pet hotel; in front of other customers that ''Curtis'' was a gay man. ''It is illegal'' for anyone in the U.S. to sexually exploit their employees. The head manager was trying to use ''Curtis's'' sexual orientation to make me believe that this supposed gay man wouldn't use that kind of language. And the head manager was also trying to make me look as if I was crazy in front of other customers, by trying to make me believe that his (evidently) floor manager ''Curtis'' couldn't have possibly been behind the pet hotel desk. Pet Smart, you really need to wise up.

PetSmart My pet was scheduled for grooming on Sunday 7/19/20

On Sunday 7/19/20 my pet Maverick was scheduled from a bath & groom at 8:00 am on Airline hwy Baton Rouge, LA. I arrived at 7:30 am, 2 other furry babies parents arrived also. We waited until approximately 8:45 ish. No one ever showed up, I called the 1 800 number to complain & file a complaint & never received a called back today is 7/21/20. When I called the airline store they were rude & never tried to accommodate us the parents because it was their mistake. I have not received a call from Petsmart trying to resolve the issue. I will never go to Petsmart for nothing. The grooming salon or to purchase anything. Chew.com is my new best friend. I will be contacting Petco about grooming. Horrible customer service. I've been a client for 9 years!'

PetSmart Employees not being protected during Covid-19

I recently brought my animals to Banfield Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. Although Banfield employees were fully protected, when I went to buy a few items, I couldn't help but notice that the two young men working were not supplied with: masks, gloves, hand sanitizer or distance at the cash register. Everyone is suppose to self monitor your business. Providing crucial protection for your employees should be pandamont. Make a change.

Please contact me asap. I live in littleton and I was abused by the manager and cashier BECAUSE I was wearing PPE back in mid March. This manager has abused other customers from reviews and corporate has been ignoring us. Id like to get the 5 of us together and demand corporate remove this manager as well as clean up their act. I cannot set foot in that store again due to the humiliating way the manager Frieda and the cashier Nancy treated me. Heidi [protected]

PetSmart Adopting a cat/discrimination per race

I was adopting an animal and Bill (Management) treated me and my fiancé with sooo much disrespect and embarrassment. He claimed I only wanted the cat to catch mice which is false he made that assumption before ever speaking with me. He came off very rude and intimidating. Fussing at me very loudly. Afterwards I was approved I walked around the store shopping spent about 150 on supplies and paid for all my items only to be stopped at the door and say they forgot to say it's a 150 fee for my cat soo I went to rent run some items and run to the atm only to be told the adoption agency is closed come tomorrow morning. Soo I called today and he said no i can't the people denied my application after I was approved and after I received all m Patterson and documentation for ownership of the cat. He was very irate and nasty on the phone and hung up. Please assist me with this matter.

PetSmart fish department

Hello,

As of today I will never ever set foot in this or any other PetSmart stores for any of my pets based on two recent experiences. The first experience happened a few weeks ago. The filter for my koi tank had broken and I went into this store to buy a part. I had just walked in to the section with the accessories for fish and was approached by an older woman with short hair. She said " can I help you"? Yes, I replied..I am looking for a part for my fish filter. Before I could even finish my sentence she said..."nope, you gotta go online for that". She never said PetSmart.com or offered a web address. She simply walked away after she made her statement without saying another word. I purchased my part online from another retailer. My part arrived yesterday and today, after I fixed my indoor tank, I decided to treat myself with a new fish. Another customer arrived at the same time I did and we happily made conversation about our fish. When the young employee arrived I let the other customer order first. He requested two cichlids and she bagged them with no questions. When I requested my koi she asked me what sized tank I had. I responded that it was 55 gallons. Without asking me how many koi I had in it, how large my koi are, what filtration I had, or how many times did partial water changes she said..." thats too small. You need at least 100 gallons per fish (not true). When I responded that in the spring my koi are transferred to an out door pond she then said "just so you know the ponds they sell at home depot are too small for koi (again not true) and any outdoor ponds should be at least five feet deep ( not true). She never asked me about how large my outdoor pond was but proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't introduce any new koi anyhow because koi are aggressive ( again not true). Had she bothered to ask I would have told her that I have multiple ponds and tanks and some of my koi that I have raised since they were 3 inches long are older than her. She simply would not sell me my fish ( I went to Petco and bought one). Is it a store policy to interrogate the customer before a purchase? Why was the other customer not interrogated before his purchase? I have been raising koi for many years and I a consider myself an expert. I am on countless koi web pages and people seek me out for advice and receiving wrong information in a snotty manner is truly insulting.

PetSmart boarding

I boarded my dog at the Potomac Yards location in Alexandria, VA due to out of the country travel plans November 7 - November 14, 2019. After the 1 week stay, my dog came home with Kennel Cough and now has pneumonia. She has been on antibiotics since and NOW is on a heavy, high-powered antibiotic to get rid of the pneumonia. I contacted the Hotel after returning home from the FIRST vet visit and told Ashley/Megan, the Hotel Manager of the diagnosis of my pet. She stated that she was "sorry" and thanks for letting them know and then proceeded to let me know that she saw that I had an upcoming reservation (Thanksgiving) and that if I still plan to board that I would have to have a clearance from the vet. I informed her that I most definitely would not in the next week or anytime in "forever" bring my pet there again. I am mortified by the lack of concern and/or follow up from Pet Smart, that the main concern was my "future" reservation and that my pet is still suffering from a stay that was never suppose to cause her an illness, weight loss or problems in breathing.

I know this email will not cause any type of response, however I send it in hope. My pet has been to the vet 4 times in the past 1 1/2 months with this illness and it is unfair to her and to me after paying for boarding to have to pay more for medications and vet visits.
I have had other problems with this PetSmart and was assured that training would be given to the employees of this particular store to ensure exceptional customer services, sensitivity to pet owner needs and employee compassion towards customers with quick complaint resolution. Per the response from the Hotel Manager, I do not feel that any additional training has taken place or any concern or follow up with complaints.

I would like a full refund of the money that I have had to pay out for vet visits, medication and xrays. I will provide receipts for all I have paid upon requests.
Thank you.

PetSmart store #1233 animal care

Chinchillas are not being treated the way they should be. In fact they are being taking care off . but the conditions are NOT proper for chinchillas. Chinchillas at this store were forced to live together in the same cage. Takes weeks for chinchillas to get used to each other, Sometimes longer.
-Here chinchillas fight each other causing them to stress and shed their hair. NOT HEALTHY

Chinchilla BIG NO's :
- PUT MORE THAN ONE CHINCHILLA TOGETHER.(chinchillas need to be introduced to new buddies- takes weeks for them to get used to each other)
-NOT PLASTIC AT ALL.
-NO PAPER
-Never grab the fur or tail.

¿¿How Can THIS PET SMART CAN FIX THE ISSUE? ?

-Have a Nesting Box(Chinchillas need a nest to hide when they feel threatened)

-It is very important that you use chinchilla safe bedding.
-Unsafe Beddings to avoid are: Cedar, mixed wood shavings, scented bedding, synthetic beddings, corn cob or cat litters. I use KD (kiln dried) pine shavings for most of our cages.

-SHOULD HAVE A DUST BATH AT LEAST 2x A WEEK

- SHOULD HAVE AT SOMETHING TO CHEW ON THAT IS NOT PLASTIC/METAL.

- Should have PUMICE BLOCKS FOR OLDER CHINCHILLAS/ Aspen Wood for small ones TO CHEW ON.
EMPLOYEES SHOULD ADVISE CUSTOMERS NOT TO GRAB CHINCHILLAS JUST TO PET THEM.
Use caution when handling pets and remember they may bite or scratch (especially when stressed).
Supervise children around pets.
-CHINCHILLAS OVERHEAT WITHIN SECONDS.

-Safe Beddings you can use are: Kiln Dried Pine shavings, Aspen or Carefresh.

-I REALLY HOPE SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING ABOUT It.
I have complained several times but staff just ignores any recommendations.
Staff needs more training on treating Chinchillas, they are not just like a puppy, they are very delicate compared to the rest of animals. !

PetSmart animal care

This store has 3 chinchillas living in insufficient conditions. Their bedding is of a brown paper and not healthy at all. Chinchilla's will eat paper bedding which gets stuck in their intestines and can kill them. I witnessed this today with what looked to be one of the youngest chins sitting in a corner munching away on bedding and their fresh grass and pellets lay neglected in the opposite corner. To top this off their housing, wheel, and food are all made out of plastic and all have plenty of evidence of chewing. Plastic is another substance they will eat and it can just as easily get stuck in the intestinal tract and kill them.

I have complained once before to the location saying I would buy the necessary stuff just to ensure this carries on going forward but my request was ignored. Even aspen shavings which are 14 dollars versus 25 for the brown paper bedding would be a big cost savings for petsmart so I don't really see this as a loss.

They're always around 3-6 months old so I can forgive feeding them anything more than their pellets and hay but if they had proper things to chew on they might avoid chewing on plastics. Pumice Stone and aspen / willow sticks are both readily available at this location both perfect for boredom chewing.

It is my hope that someone can handle this request and see to it that such a unique creature is not wasted. The chinchilla community views petsmart among others with disdain for its absolute neglect of chin living conditions. I would think that ensuring a health chinchilla goes home to their owner healthy first would guarantee that more money comes back into their pocket over the long life span of a chin.

Staff knowledge is also something that could be readily approved. Staff pass the animals around to would be owners holding them as if they're puppies or hamsters but although they are rodents they are not ever to be held like one due to their delicate bone structures particularly in the ribs where the tiniest squeeze can break ribs.

Thank you.

PetSmart grooming services

Erin (and I don't know her last name but will find out) is abusing animals. Do not take your pet there. They have a camera in the front grooming area where they trim nails but they have no audio. Erin knows this as I just found out she abused another small poodle type dog while shampooing in back. His eyes were bloodshot and they did not tell the owner. But the owner brought to vet and told them looks like he was severely shaken. Oh sure you call petsmart corporate and their excuse was the dogs nail was caught on something... Erin knows there are no cameras in rear. She is the manager and she is the most belligerent person. With my 1 dog (I had 2 with me) but erin was only one on and it was about 9 20 am.. She seemed miserable and took my poor little sharpei and put her up on the table for nails to be trimmed and my luna cried loudly and she's never done that before ever! My 5 year old grandson yells out "you're hurting my luna" after more crying I said, "what are you doing?" the way she was hunching over my dog seemed like she was putting her weight on her and her nails she probably was harming her to lash out whatever frustrations she has on animals there... She took my dog down and said, "maam do you trust me as your groomer?" I said, no way your're a horrible person and you shouldn't be anywhere near animals! Corporate told me they could clearly see things didn't end well but there was no audio and they saw my dog was close to edge of table but couldn't clearly see! Omg! And she still works there!

PetSmart grooming and attitude!

I took my dog to PetSmart Saturday and told them that she had a few knots that needed to be shaved or cut out and to make her hair as even as possible. well I have anxiety so I didn't check her out when we were there. So when I got home I noticed that her ears weren't even. Anyone with common sense would have made her ears as even as possible, which they didn't. So I went there the other day to get a refund cause I shouldn't have paid for that. They had me go in the back I guess they were gonna try to fix it but I didn't want them touching my dog after that, I just wanted a refund. The girl named Jennifer gave me an attitude saying the conversation must have went like this " she has knots can you shave them out" which I said she has a few knots shave or cut them out and make her hair even as possible they didn't try to make them even at all. I had to fix it up! Jennifer made me so mad saying I rolled my eyes which I did because she was assuming I said something when she wasn't even there when I told them what I wanted them to do to her! Jennifer was like I'm done with her do whatever you want to. Jennifer had a nasty attitude towards me that I want her held accountable for how she acted towards me and treated me. If It wasn't for my friend walking in at the right moment, no telling what more she would have said to me or how nasty she would have gotten. Cause when she saw my friend walk in she knew then my friend wasn't going to play her game she was playing with me!

PetSmart pet grooming

01/17/2020

When I asked for grooming for my basset hound, there was one customer picking up and two people working. They said they had time to wash my girl and clip her nails. After I signed the work contract, the guy said it would be about an hour and a half as the groomer had to go to lunch. This was 4pm. I replied with well I can just come back…on no, we will put her in the kennel and pamper her. She will be fine…probably won't be an hour and a half. I did not receive a call so after an hour a half, I returned to see no one, but heard my dog barking. There was nothing I could do but listen. Then the girl working there finally came out front and told me my dog was being rinsed. They had gotten covered up. The guy grooming her had started washing her and had to put her in the kennel soapy. A few minutes later the guy came out and told a different story. He said she was put into the kennel wet and smelled like wet dog so he was regrooming her and giving her the works. He did appologize. It was around 6:30 pm when she finally finished. The charge was still just $27, and they did a really good job, but the experience was traumatising for me and my girl. The trust is lost. My dog went to bed at 7 and would not eat the dinner she missed because she was being groomed so late. I did give her treats when I picked her up though. She woke up 14 hours later to go to the bathroom then got back in bed. She is not acting herself and had a limp when she woke up to go potty. That does not mean they caused it. It is now 15.5 hrs since bed, and she is still there. Knowing that the girl said she was put in the kennel with soap and being rewashed is enough to question what the priorities are at this place. How do you stop in the middle of grooming a dog? It takes me 15 minutes to groom her at home. I am so disappointed. They seemed nice, but the experience has me questioning what could have really happened. I am a regular pet smart customer. This is my first time using this town's grooming service.

PetSmart employment application

Their application is very invasive and I have concerns about their confidentiality agreement.
Here is an example of a question I consider a bit invasive for a low paying non security position: Was asked to list all addresses for last 10 years.
Their confidentiality agreement basically insinuated that if you work there you couldn't leave and work for anyone in any kind of pet business. The way it was worded it could include a plethora of job types and would give far to much room for interpretation.
You have to fill out the application without the ability to ask questions about the confidentiality agreement you are being asked to put your signature on if you have any hope of getting this job.
This could potentially put a person in a very bad position.

PetSmart online order of gift cards.

Purchased two $50.00 gift cards on Dec. 13th (2019) thinking surely that would be soon enough to receive them before Christmas. On the 20th I still had not received them or confirmation they had even shipped.

Contacted PetSmart...was told they had shipped on the 14th but that no tracking was available at that time. A couple of days later I get an Email stating they had shipped on the 20th. What...! What happened to them supposedly being shipped on the 14th?

So now Christmas has come and I don't have the gift cards I had intended to give to my Daughter, who home from Denver to be with us. Last year it took 9 days to get my order, figured that was just a fluke, but should have learned my lesson then.

PetSmart animal cruelty

Leaving reptiles to die and killing them is unacceptable. I won't be shopping at Petsmart anymore. Petsmart deserves to be boycotted for their cruel and negligent treatment. Any company that profits from purchases made by people who love and care for animals should be ashamed of letting animals in its care die at all, much less in these horrific circumstances.
Petsmart should not sell any animals under any circumstances. They and their employees are clearly not capable of caring for any living creatures!

PetSmart online service and orders

I tried to process a Black Friday order online with PetSmart. It wouldn't go through on their website. I contacted them to report the problem. However, the discounts were over. They offered me 10% discount on my next order. That is nothing on what I was going to save. They wouldn't even honor the Black Friday prices. I'm not happy with the customer service I received from there. They didn't seem like they cared. They just lost a loyal customer.

PetSmart grooming

Our puppy went for grooming, not properly cleaned and bathed. Once we brought him home, we noted blood coming from his back side. We noted him bleeding from his buttocks. We complained to the store took the puppy back, all they said was it was a scrape not a cut. There was no sympathy or ownership of the concern we had. The store manager came across disrespectful and rude. We were concerned for our animal and the store dismissed us.
