Time Sport International, in cooperation with the CPSC, is recalling approximately 15,000 pairs of Time RXS and RXE automatic pedals for road cycles across North America. There is a potential safety issue affecting these models, which concerns the detachment of the axle system from the body of the pedal.
As a precautionary measure, the company has decided to undertake a recall of all Time RXS and Time RXE pedals shipped between October 2004 and July of this year to carry out the necessary inspections and corrections.
Road models affected by the recall include:
- Time RXE pedals with steel axle, grey composite body
- Time RXS pedals with steel axle, grey composite body
- Time RXS Carbon pedals with steel axle, black carbon-strengthened composite body
- Time RXS Titan Carbon pedals with titanium axle, black carbon-reinforced composite body
The MTB, CYCLO models and the new Time Road 2006/2007 models are unaffected. Since July, all Time RXS and Time RXE pedals have been corrected and are marked with a gold dot on the cross on the underside of the pedal body.
U.S. consumers have been instructed to contact Time Sport International directly to arrange for the pedals to be inspected and, if necessary, to undergo repair.
Canadian consumers have been instructed to take the pedals to the nearest Time retailer. Retailers should send them to Cycles Lambert, who will perform the product inspections and corrections. Corrected products will be marked with a silver dot and returned to their owners. |
