ENTIRELY TOO RESTRICTIVE. I had to buy a new washer/dryer set and I thought I'd buy Maytag as I thought President Trump worked with the manufacturing leaders and we'd still have choices.

My washing machine is only 4 years old and the lip is breaking on the left side. After reading lots complaints about this washing machine it seems so many people have had the same issue as I am having. Not only that when they have replaced the lid not even a year later it broke again in the same place. I called about this and I was told they have no recalls on my machine. I just don't understand if so many people are having the same issue why are they not doing anything about it? I never had issues in the past with Maytag, but after this experience Maytag isn't like it use to be and that is really sad! I am at work so not able to add any pictures, but if needed I have no issues with sending pictures.
Desired outcome: I would like for them to replace my lid because this is a defect in this washing machine if so many people are having the same issue. Everyone says the same exact thing that the left side of the lid broke just that side.

There is no recalls listed on your unit. In fact, it's one of the models that is extremely well reviewed. As such, it's absolutely worth getting serviced.

Washer
June 1 2023 was when we bought the washing machine. It worked fine for four weeks, then started making a noise the sounded like my blender on high speed. At first it was only when draining, then it kept getting worse until the noise was all the time. After two weeks it stopped draining at all. A repair man came out and said there was not anything wrong, even after listening to noise we had recorded. When we asked for a different repair man we were told there wasn"t any other. The first repair man was contacted again to come back, and he wouldn"t come. This was not a very good experience.

The difficulty is getting the manufacturer to cover the cost of a service call with no problem being found. If you'll cover such costs, there shouldn't be a problem getting them back out.
Take the time to contact them back and please let us know if that doesn't resolve the problem.
Washing machine
Purchased a Maytag pet pro system washer and dryer on 8-19-23 from Lowe’s. They delivered them on 8-20-23 dryer was damaged after working with them they they brought a new dryer out 8-22-23. Hooked both up ran quick wash cycle all good ran full load no problems. The third time the washer locked up after several attempts lid finally unlocked but all it would do is flash different lights mainly the sense light. Called help line told the lady what was happening she finally said would send repairman out on 8-28-23. Asked for supervisor to call back they did best he could do was tell me if I could find someone quicker go ahead. Sent complaint to Whirlpool on 8-23-23 said someone would contact me it’s 8-25-23 no response. As I told them this is the worst customer service I’ve run into in a long time.I’ve owned my first Maytag and my advice to anyone is not to buy one

Maytag dryer
On October 17, 2020 I bought a Maytag Washer and Dryer. I paid $1657.98 for the pair. On August 1, 2023 my dryer stopped working (no heat) I called the repairman and they want almost $400 to repair a $74 thermostat. I REFUSED needless to say - I am furious!
The dryer is not even 3 years old! I paid EXTRA because I thought Maytag would be a better brand. I am very disappointed!
We're sorry to hear of your frustration. Maytag is considered one of the best brands in the industry, complimented with one of the best warranties in the industry -- up to 10 years on certain parts.
For some, however, there are those who perfer even stronger warranty coverage. Unfortunately, even the very best products can break before one expects.
Please contact the retailer you purchased the units through; many offer longer warranty programs that would cover any cost associated with the problem.
Plead let us know if that doesn't favorably resolve the problem.
Maytag washer
I just bought a washer delivered on August 10, 2023. The next day on August 11, 2023 the washer with soap and dirty water stopped working. I cannot get my clothes until August 17, 2023 when someone can get there. My clothes are trapped til that date. There’s no one in support who can help me. My work clothes are in the washer snd I have to be th work on Monday.

The lid has cracked in the top left corner causing the lid to be out of alignment and therefore the lock does not lock unless you hold it down, which makes the plastic crack even more. I’ve read that this is a common problem with these washers. For $2000 and only being 2 years old, this should be covered by the manufacturer. This is a manufacturer default and not due to being overused or roughly used and I don’t feel as though I should be responsible to pay for a replacement lid.
Desired outcome: I would like confirmation from Maytag that a replacement lid will be shipped to me free of charge, and a recall be made on this part of the machine.

Very few people have actually complained about damage in the way you've described. This doesn't mean any product, Maytag included, can experience issues prematurely.
Maytag is proud to offer one of the best warranties in the business. With this Maytag model, you would have been provided a one year-limited guarantee for parts and labor then, for no additional charge, Maytag provides the consumer with a ten year-limited part warranty for both the tub and motor.
There are those, like yourself, that prefer further backing on this type of product. For those consumers, Maytag partners with extremely high-quality retailers that then offer extended warranty service. In order to utilize such a program, we'd suggest contacting the retailer you purchased your unit through. They should be able to guide you through the process and provide further assistance.

Left top hinge broke. I have read hundreds of claims from others with the same issue.
Clearly a manufacturing error or poor quality parts or both.
We would like to know if there is a class action lawsuit regarding this issue.
We did replace this washer with another Maytag washer because we feel this is an unusual issue for Maytag products.

We're sorry to hear of your experience. There is no specific reason that any hinge, on any washer, may break. Generally, it is attributed to it's ongoing use.
If the hinge failed within the first year, please contact Maytag's customer support, as it's replacement will fall under warranty. Outside of the first year, please contact the retailer you purchased the unit under, as it may fall under an extended warranty program.

Washing machine Mod.# MVWC465HW2
Machine has self-destructed during spin cycle and lurches so bad it has put a hole in the wall. Near the cost of original machine spent on "certified Maytag repairs" with absolutely ZERO positive,proper resolution. Machine is defective and apparently unrepairable. It also leaks water during use and we were told that they "will leak a little water" during use ! HaHa...This machine has not performed or lasted properly and should be replaced without question.

Maytag dryer
Maytag dryer model MED7230 HW1 was purchased in June, 2021. While clothes were being dried, error code F2E2 appeared on the display board and the dryer shut down. I contacted Maytag and arranged for authorized service at a cost of $99 for the tech to diagnose the problem. He said it needs a new user interface board for a cost of $379 plus an additional $75 for installation. To have this 2 yr. old dryer repaired will cost $553.
I contacted Maytag but they would not help me other than to offer a 15% discount if I purchased not her Maytag dryer.
Desired outcome: This seems to be a common defect based on the hundreds of reviews I’ve read complaining about the same defect. I would like Maytag to replace the cost of the board for free. I would be willing to pay the $75 installation cost
Upon further review of the terms and conditions of a Maytag service contract, my dryer cannot be fixed if I purchase a service contract from Maytag. Now that they have a record of the problem, they consider it a pre-existing condition therefore it will not be covered (see below).
3. WAIT PERIOD. NO WAIT PERIOD IS REQUIRED IF THE COVERED PRODUCT IS UNDER MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY OR UNDER THE COVERAGE OF ANOTHER EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT AS OF THE DATE THIS CONTRACT IS PURCHASED. So I now have to buy another dryer. And since I purchased a matching Maytag washer at the same time I purchased the dryer, given the issues with the user interface board, I guess it’s just a matter of time before I’ll need a new washing machine too.

I purchased the dryer from Home Depot in Morganville, NJ. Their policy is to offer service contracts up to 90 days after purchase of the appliance. Their response to me, “sorry, we can’t help you. Call Maytag and see if they can help you”.
Maytag will issue a one year plan for $199.95, a three year plan for $299.95 BUT there is a 60 DAY WAITING PERIOD before a claim can be filed.
I understand that parts can malfunction at anytime. But, as I stated previously, the user interface board is a known problem across the Maytag line of products. Maytag should do the right thing and help customers who have encountered this problem.
It makes no sense to invest another $450 (I’ve already spent $99 just to have the problem diagnosed) to replace a part that is known to be problematic. Nor is it feasible to buy a service contract from Maytag and have to wait another 60 days to get it fixed.
I wouldn’t be so irritated if the dryer was 5 years old or used extensively. I’ve had this dryer for two years, it’s used twice weekly. Rarely, maybe once a month, it’s used three times in a week.
It shouldn’t need such an expensive repair with such minimal use in such a short time.

We'd never assume for you to purchase additional warranty coverage after-the-fact. That's never going to be cost effective or really an option. We weren't sure if you had additional coverage through the retailer so it was only prudent to consider it first.
Please try posting the exact part number you're in need of. Don't confuse this with an in-house SKU number. The part number adjoins be a commination of letters and numbers.

With respect, Maytag isn't running into any abnormally high issues with these control boards. Have multiple consumers found they need to replace a control unit on their unit-possibly sooner then they expected? Sure. So have consumers of multiple other brands.
Statisticians tabulate the probability for breakdown within a given period of time. They know the cost of providing longer warranty coverage and consider that a part of the cost. Most manufacturers know they have to have a competitive price, so they offer the manufacturer's warranty coverage accordingly.
The consumer that buys with that understanding and knows they have, at least some risk, can weather such problems. They accept that they drew the proverbial "lucky straw" and cover the unexpected cost of servicing or replacing the unit on their own.
I don't blame you for being frustrated about doing so. Many consumers don't want to accept such risks. In those cases, one is much better to consider the warranty programs one retailer offers compared to others. Is the coverage at a reasonable price and is it coverage you can depend on when you need it?
With all of that said, it sounds like you've come to find that you don't have any additional coverage through the retailer. The 7230 is a wonderful piece of equipment - from that perspective, you've made a good choice. It sells regularly for about $750 so, even at the price you've been quoted, you're significantly less than replacing it.
Again, try to post the exact part information for you unit. This is not an internal SKU number; it's the actual part number (usually made up of numbers and letters). We'll see what we can do.

Maytag, when purchasing new, provides a one year-limited warranty to the consumer. They further provide a 10 year-limited warranty on two parts for every dryer. Some consumers find this to not be desirable and want even further protection. Most of Maytag authorized resellers offer extended warranty coverage to cover unexpected costs beyond the manufacturers guidelines.
Please contact the authorized Maytag retailer you purchased this unit through. If elected at the time of purchase, such warranty coverage could cover both the parts and labor for such a problem.

Maytag makes a fantastic line of high quality appliances. They've been awarded some of the most prestigious awards with the industry however, we understand that doesn't resolve your issue.
It's frustrating but we'd dare say there's not a brand, product, or part thereof, that you won't find complaints about.
First, which retailer did you purchase the unit through? What did they say when you spoke with them? Many offer the additional coverage which will cover all the costs. This becomes the first and, many times, best avenue to resolve such a problem.
If they weren't able to assist, provide us with the exact part number. It's possible we can assist with discounted NOS or SU piece.

Warranty repair
We purchased a Maytag washer &dryer 03/21 called Maytag with problem with washer several times and was told that it supposed to work that way I have used Maytag appliances for several years but this time I am very disappointed with this washer, they put me off until the warranty ran out being tired of the same old problem I called a outside service and the service man told that it needed a clutch adjustment and that was supposed to have been done at the factory the charge done for the adjustment came to 245.00 dollars I feel that Maytag should rein verse that amount for very poor maintenance if you need prove of the problem I will be glad to fax you the billing

This is better then most other manufactors. For those consumers who want even greater coverage, many Maytag resellers provide extended warranty programs which cover such costs.

Maytag washer parts back order 2 months
I have a 2017 Large capacity Maytag washer that has been malfunctioning since May 2023. I called for service and diagnosed with bad valves and water pump with 'drn' code. It is now July 12th and these parts are still on back order! This is leaving me with no ability to do laundry and having to resort to doing by hand. I am handicapped and barely able to walk with severe back and leg pain. Having to haul water logged laundry outdoors has done further harm to my back! I have no help and certainly not able to haul laundry to the laundromat. How Maytag can expect customers to be left without a washing machine for nearly 2 months, I find totally unacceptable. We spend more money on products which we are led to believe are of better quality. Quite honestly, I never had problems with my older washers and this one is only six years old and well cared for. I have been contacting the service company who only tells me the parts are still out of stock throughout the US and they have no idea when they will be made available. This is a horrible way to treat customers who spend good money on these appliances and get poor service. I feel at this point after spending $531 for this initial repair, not knowing what else will go in the future, very unfair and could go toward a new washer. At this point Maytag should stand behind their products better and make parts more readily available or offer to replace washers that are lemons. As these parts are back ordered it certainly does not bode well for Maytag indicating these washers are frequently falling apart for many customers. So I now ask Maytag what am I supposed to do to get my laundry done at this point? Will you replace my washer as it seems the parts are still not available and no one knows when they will be? Do you feel it is fair for me having to continue to struggle trying to do some laundry by hand and hauling heavy, waterlogged laundry outside to dry? Perhaps Consumer Protection will have the answer. Very disappointed in Maytag all around! I should have kept my old washer!

Thank you for your reply and assistance. To date we have yet to receive any repairs on our Maytag washer. I am forced to do laundry by hand, as I have explained in my complaint, and it is very taxing on my degenerating back situation. I also cannot wring clothes out well due to severe arthritis.
Home Depot gave us whatever warranty was available to us at purchase which has expired. When I called Maytag they told me to call a repair service that is affiliated with Maytag. I cancelled the previous service call where we had already paid for the parts and now I find their refund was short $150 stating we got charged for the diagnostic visit. No one informed us this would happen. Now we await via Advantage Appliance to return with the parts...if they ever get them! I hope you can help!

Maytag washer broke within 2 weeks
We purchased a new Maytag washing machine (Model: MVW4505MW0, Serial #: CC2207703) from Lowes. We placed the order with Lowes online on 6/11/2023. The machine was delivered to our house on 6/13/2023. We had normal use of the machine up to 6/29/2023 and then noticed a loud screeching sound coming from the unit. The unit eventually quit working. We called into Maytag on 6/29/2023 and they scheduled for a tech from Capital City Appliance to come out and diagnose the machine on 7/5/2023. They came out 7/5/2023 and determined that they needed to replace the cam, the belt and the actuator. They did so on the warranty of the machine and left. They also stated that the laundry bucket in the machine was sinking low enough on the tensioners that it could be scraping the tub it sits in. If that was the case we would need to put the washing machine on blocks to raise it. That day on 7/5/20223 we did three loads of laundry and on the third load the noise happened again. We noticed that the the belt and the wheel the belt is on was sitting low. So we put the washer on blocks like the tech said. We ran another cycle and the noise came back. We called in again and could not get the tech back out now until 7/10/2023. We are 12 days without the use of our new washer. The tech came back today and read the error code and said that the speed sensor failed. He attempted to run a test cycle and the sound began immediately and even louder in the "sense" portion of the cycle. He jumped back and shut the machine off immediately stating the transmission now needs replaced. He told us that Maytag asked him to do this twice for another client with a new similar washer before Maytag would consider replacing the unit. We now have to wait until 7/12 for the transmission replacement. Then, if that does not work we have to wait for Maytag to review for next steps. We feel that being new this machine should not need this much repair. We are fearful that should this transmission resolve the problem now it will never fully get the benefit of a "NEW" washing machine and that it will continue to have problems. Problems that we, at some point, will be financially responsible for.
Desired outcome: We want Maytag to take back their piece of junk and give us our money back so we can purchase a new machine that actually works and will last longer than 2 weeks.

Once it happened it did not go thru the load. It just quit. This has truly been a frustrating experience. Is yours new(er)?
I bought it in Nov last year, started doing it abut a month ago. Not every load...about 1 in 15 loads. The problem is if I put in a claim and it doesn't happen when the repair guy is here, I will get charged a minimum service call fee that is not covered.
Maytag top loading washer
Our washer is only 4 years old. We bought it from Best Buy per positive reviews for Maytag. Last year it began making very loud banging noises and walking across the floor when in the spin cycle. It was still under warranty at that time. The repairman replaced a part. Now, this year, it is doing the same thing. No longer under warranty. The cost to replace the belt was over$200. After the repair, the next week, it began doing the same thing. Now, the repairman says the drum needs replaced or repaired. He wasn’t sure without taking the whole drum out. Repair for that was going to be another $400. We declined. Customer service at Best Buy literally said “They don’t make them like they used to.” Really? Is Maytag not the reliable brand it used to be?! Did we buy trash?

In replacing your washer, you may consider a new Maytag. You'll likely enjoy it for many years to come.
Maytag washer MVW5430MW
Purchased new on 5/2/23 from Home Depot along with a protection plan from Allstate. Deivered new on 5/5/23 and installed by them. It broke approximately two weeks later. Repair company came several days later and replaced failed belt. Broke again 10 days later. Repair company came several days later and belt had failed and protective shield had become damaged due to transmission being faulty and becoming dislocated. Ordered parts and repaired again several days later. However unable to complete the repair due to electronic failure. Necessary parts (3) are now on backorder and so we are without the use of this almost $1000 purchase still. Maytag says "oh well". Home Depot won't do anything. Maytag won't do anything so I'm stuck spending more money traveling to a laundromat, using a dirty machine, wasting my time. Offered for their CEO to come do it for me but was politely declined. I just want my money back so I can go buy a quality product. Done with Maytag, Done with Home Depot. I have already sidetracked two in store potential buyers of appliances by telling my story.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher in June 2021. I paid $1054. Installed June 24.
Only myself and husband so not an unusual amount of use. The control unit needed to be replaced June 2023. That's 2 years of light use. The replacement cost was $400 or 38% of the units cost. Maytag says "sorry" it's out of warranty. Shouldn't there be a "lemon law" for appliances?
There was a recall in 2021/2022 for a Maytag dishwasher but it didn't include my model. Clue...there are problems with Maytag dishwashers.
