I signed up for the free trial of Grammarly, thinking it might be a helpful site. I did find that it caught a few mistakes, but I also noticed that it was flagging things that were actually correct. I wanted to make the most of my trial, so I checked the email they sent me with the trial information. It said that the trial would last until November 19th and listed the company's address as being in California. I assumed that meant they were on Pacific Standard Time, while I'm on Eastern Standard Time.

On November 18th at 11:23pm EST, I decided to cancel my subscription. I received an email confirming that my subscription would end on November 19th. However, just one minute later, at 11:24pm EST, I got another email saying that I had been charged for the service. I checked my credit card and sure enough, I had been charged. I thought it must have been a mistake, but when I contacted customer service, they told me that they hadn't charged me until November 19th. I have emails showing that I cancelled on the 18th, but they seem to be going by a different time zone than me.

I'm waiting for a response to my email, which included a picture of the email saying I had cancelled and that my billing period ended on November 19th. If they continue to ignore me, I'll take the advice of another reviewer and contact the Better Business Bureau. I don't want to be duped by a company that doesn't make their billing policies clear. I wouldn't recommend the free trial of Grammarly to anyone. What's interesting is that even though I found this short story of Carver's on the internet, Grammarly didn't suggest that it was plagiarized. It did, however, help me with the spelling of "plagiarized".

If you're looking for a tool to help with your commas and spelling, I think the free version of Grammarly might be for you. However, I wouldn't suggest it for anyone involved in creative writing. I put a Hemingway story through Grammarly, and it found ninety-two advanced issues. I'm not going to pay extra to find out what they are, but I do think that Grammarly is a good tool for business writing. Overall, I'm happy with the free version of Grammarly and will continue to use it for my writing.

Do they really think I can just put my work on hold for days?

Anyway, I contacted my banks, hoping that they could help me out. Turns out, all of them were rejecting my payments because Grammarly is considered to be fraud due to consumer complaints. Now, I can't pay for the service anymore unless I ask for payment details and do it manually. Even then, the bank can still reject my payment. Do I really have to suffer because they can't hold a normal public image? Do I have to pay the price for their inability to remain internationally trustworthy?

Plus, why can't they add the payment details on their webpage or on the same page where I'm supposed to enter my card details? And why can't they add an option to pay with Ideal already, so people in the Netherlands can pay for it with a Dutch card? Is it really that difficult? People want fast and reliable service. Is that really such a hard concept for them to grasp?

I know that this review won't gain the necessary attention for another nine days, so I'll probably have to look for a different company. I sincerely don't want to do that, but I'm left with no options. Hopefully, people will consider this before buying. Maybe next year, their bank will refuse them an option to pay for this service.

I wrongly / mistakenly created two Premium accounts ( Two different Emails) but am actively using Only one account. The other premium account is a duplicate, and I have been paying premium fees on both these accounts for 2-3 years. Please refund my annual subscription fee for that account that I am not using and has no activity. This is unfair. It was my mistake, and I did not realize this until recently. Hello! I have Windows 7. The website says that I must have Windows 10 or more.

It also says I can sign up at Grammarly in Chrome for earlier editions of Windows... I clicked on that screen. I have done that several times but see nothing specifically saying how to download it in Chrome.

I have ended up at the Chrome store but again see no way to download Grammarly for Chrome.

I have found several screens about the Chrome store and apps and extensions. They mean nothing to me!

This predatory piece of [censored] company charged me because I didn't cancel at the exact same TIME on the dot that I started my service. When it says 7 days free trial you would think by midnight of those 7 days you can cancel. They charged me $540 for something that I got confirmation was cancelled. You can't call anyone there, the person on email basically told me tough luck and suck it up.

Due to an alert on my device when I installed Grammarly. I found out it is a key logger. This means the program records and saves every single keyboard button you use. Emails to friends. Texts to husbands. All of it. This is why you get emails telling you your writing is getting better everything you write is being analyzed. Not recommended especially for classified or business use.

On 07/31/2023 144 dollars was deducted from my account. From the enrollment date my account has not been updated to a premium account still, I am using the basic version of Grammarly. I already raised the complaint on the help center. But they have not resolved it yet.

Grammarly is an application that claims to help users improve their writing skills. However, upon using it, I found that the grammar logic included cliched misnomers that only a non-native speaker would trust. For example, ending a sentence with a preposition is fine, despite what some may say. As Churchill once said when informed about the "rule", "That is a thing, up with which, I will not put". Tautology is a linguistic tool, not a fault. Sometimes we'll refer to a group of things as a plural, sometimes as a singular. For example, "The sheep were standing", or "the group was together". Another correction "The group were standing", while technically correct, and only dependent on what one is trying to say, and I'll feel like tearing somebody's hair out.

Passive voice is fine, not a fault. Sentences need not be so simple that they become, very nearly, monosyllabic. If your English is very simple or you're trying to communicate in a language you don't speak very well this may be a useful application. However, if you write in English often, then it is a handicap. When I raised my concerns with support, I was given the usual drivel fob off "The settings are incorrect". By settings, they mean the presets used to try to anticipate the style of writing. I was left with the sense that the only thing they were any good at was taking your money.

Despite its flaws, Grammarly may be useful for those who are not fluent in English or are trying to communicate in a language they don't speak very well. However, for those who write in English often, it may be more of a hindrance than a help. It's important to remember that grammar rules are not set in stone and that there are exceptions to every rule. So, I'm gonna tell you about Grammarly. My daughter, who is 14, accidentally bought this program last Sunday. She thought she was only buying one month, but it turns out she bought a whole year. She only needed it for one month because school was almost over and summer break was coming up. When she realized her mistake, she canceled the subscription right away. But then, Grammarly charged her for the whole year and said her subscription would end on 4/15/19. That's a whole year later! We thought they would give us our money back, but it's been 4 days and we haven't gotten anything. We tried calling customer service, but no one answered. We even sent an email, but still "NO One" responded. So, we talked to our bank and they said it might be fraud. Grammarly, if you're reading this, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Their customer service is terrible. Don't buy this program unless you want to deal with this kind of stuff.

Update: Today, 4/19/18, Grammarly finally sent my daughter an email saying they would give her a refund in the next 10 business days. I guess the bank was able to help us out more than we could. We'll see if they actually give us our money back.

I was under the impression that I would be paying $15 per month for a business account that could cater to 3-100 users. However, to my dismay, I was charged a whopping $900 for the same service. I am absolutely devastated and in tears.

I am not a business owner, and I had purchased this service for my siblings and me to use for our university assignments. I simply cannot afford to pay such a hefty amount of money.

Throughout the entire advertisement process, I was told that I would be charged a rate of $15 per month for a service that could cater to 3-100 people. However, the company failed to mention until the last page, which I did not see at the time, that the service is charged per person and has a minimum of 3 people. This means that the $15 figure is a complete lie, and you cannot even choose to pay $15 per month because the minimum number of persons is 3. This makes it $45 per month ($540 per year, and it is billed annually). It is an outright lie, and I feel cheated.

To make matters worse, there is no way to get in contact with the company directly. There is no phone number or email displayed, just a section on their website where you can "contact support." However, it does not disclose how long it will take for them to get back to you. I found a number on a website called customercarecontact that listed a phone number for them. However, it is an American number that charges international rates when calling from overseas (I am from Australia).

In conclusion, I am absolutely disgusted with this company and their abuse of trust. I feel like I have been scammed, and I would not recommend this service to anyone. It is a complete waste of money, and the company's lack of transparency and customer support is appalling.

I'm still in school and I heard that Grammarly was helpful. I do a lot of writing, like stories and stuff, in different languages and styles. Sometimes I write in German and Grammarly keeps changing it. Even in this review, it's trying to change stuff that's already good. Some of the features are cool, but you gotta pay for them. I'm not paying for that and my teacher. The tones are funny too, like right now it says I'm "sad." It doesn't get commas and always wants to put "the" in front of everything. If I used all its suggestions, it would look like I used Google Translate for my Italian homework.

I know it's hard to get everything right, but this is so bad it's almost funny. I'm mad at this product. Lots of my friends use it, so I thought it would be good for me too. It's not. It's supposed to be good for resumes, but it's more like a math teacher trying to teach English. I know this because I had writer's block and only wrote 14,002 words last week, but I was still more productive than 92% of users. It's better for students who want a cheap way to cheat on their spelling homework.

So, I've been seeing this Grammarly thing all over the place, especially on YouTube. As a student who struggles with writing, I finally caved and gave it a try. The free version seemed to work pretty well, catching all sorts of errors in my writing. But then, when I upgraded to the premium version, things started to go downhill.

Honestly, I feel like Grammarly is just a big scam. They prey on people's insecurities about their writing, charge way too much money for a subpar product, and then hope you forget about the charge so they can auto-bill you again. And good luck getting a refund if you're not happy with the service.

I've decided to start blocking ads on YouTube because of this. If they're willing to support scammers like Grammarly, then I don't want to support them. There are other ways to support creators that don't involve giving money to companies like this.

In conclusion, Grammarly is not worth the money. Don't fall for their slick advertising and promises of perfect writing. Save your money and find a different way to improve your writing skills.

Grammarly is supposed to check my writing for spelling errors, grammar and punctuation, but nothing else. This means no checking for political correctness (as in potentially offensive language, political stance, etc.). There should be no checking for political content, as in the case of my stance in the Ukraine war. They crossed the line here. What to do? I'd go public and tell the whole world who (or what) they are.
