Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Charging me for a deceased person bill

Yes, my ex-stepdad passed away on March 30,2023. My brother and I inherited this house and property. I called to get water established and was told pay his bill of $497.00 plus reconnect fee. What? He’s deceased. ! I can’t help what happened when he was alive. The property and house is NOT in his name. He’s buried at national cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I should NOT have to pay his prior bill. Got electricity turned on with no issues. They’re refusing to turn water on. This is ridiculous. Asked attorney it’s NOT my responsibility to pay his past due bills (any bills). Living there due to financial issues and have no water.

Desired outcome: Allie me to get water in my name, pay my deposit and have water.

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] My home water

We were never contacted about boil water notices in our neighborhood. This has happened twice in the last couple of months. I got home yesterday (8-10) and after the boil notice was lifted I did a load of laundry. My clothes were ruined I lost a black dress,3shirts and 2 pair of shorts. They were so bleached out and smelled of chlorine. When taking a shower you can smell chlorine in the house and this has been an ongoing problem. I have spoken to many of my neighbors and they are having the same issues. This Should not be happening. I would like to be compensated for the loss of my clothes.

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] A horrible company that has charged late fee's when the customer was not late!!!!

This company does not have a supervisor or management person available! That customer service person can only pass on complaints via a call back situation and that, I am told is within a 24 to48 hour time period! How horrible is that? You cannot be given a name or phone number to this water company's employees!

I am concerned that they are taking many late fee's, and folks that are not receiving a paper bill is not aware of how many $5 that they are paying!

Like myself! I have been with them for 4 years and just learned that I was charged 4 times in 2023 for late fee's.!

Desired outcome: The CS person hung up on me because I insisted on speaking to someone in management "No one was available no was she able to transfer the call to a management or supervisor...not permitted!!!" AND THIS IS A SO-CALLED BUSINESS?

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Insurance claim

I recently had a $30,000 insurance claim (caused by FGUA) that my homeowner's insurance only covered $10,000.

I was told that once my insurance claim was resolved, I could ask for the remainder of the monies spent to be covered by the insurance company of FGUA (Florida Governmental Utility Authority).

This is my official request to start the claim process so that I can resolve this issue.

I can be reached on my cell phone at [protected].

Donna Scaricaciottoli

"Donna Scotti"

Desired outcome: I would want to be reimbursed for the monies still owed me.

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Food stamps

Yes I am complaining for the simple fact that florida department of family and children's services will give out food stamps and tell someone that their case needs to be expedited that it should be within 7 days they do not answer you they do not listen to you you tell them that you cannot upload anything to your closed in your in your portal so you were unable to upload documents so instead of them setting something up letting us be seen by caseworker i've already pinned my interview and explained my income situation and instead of that she resets knowing that i'm outside do not have a pen handy because i've had bad reception and then they go further to ask me to get a letter from a lady who has dementia and then she resets my password which locks me completely out of my account so I can't upload crap and she screams and hollers at me and hangs up when I tell her to send the password to my email so now i'm locked out of my account I cannot reset my account because of some woman who wants to scream and holler and act like an idiot who doesn't have the iq of a 3 year old if she was not a governmental employee she would have been fired flat there's no way to where you can speak to a supervisor or anything with their little deal here which is practically impossible so you there is not even an open way that you can file a complaint against them

Desired outcome: For my file curling handled and for this to go to one of her supervisors her to be reprimanded and for my case to be handled and fairness and respect

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Water equipment malfunction and billing

Over a period of time I have been billed for excessive water use when noone resides in the home and water is turned off at the street. I have called and get nowhere with the utility in New Port Richey. I recently got a bill for $116.00+ and started my own campaign to get to the bottom of it. With the water turned off at the street the meter red thing was turning. I have video of it and pictures of the water meter being more and more use in this situation the last reading was 980 and the reading now is 12420. No one is there is no leaks and at that the water is shut off at the street. On another subject they insist I mail my payments to cape coral instead of the new port richey office. My bank sends out the checks 15 days before the due date. They processed the payment 2 days after the due date and charged me $5 they do this often and even though I am allowing plenty of time in the state to get it to them they are processing it after the due date. I have since changed my bill pay to send it direct to the New Port Richey office. They are impossible to get to take responsibility and I just went to check and they changed out the valve but I know from past experience they are going to try to make me pay for their water useage.

Desired outcome: past water bills this one adjusted to min payment and them to take responsibilty . late fees off never been late. like to be with a different water co so don't have to deal with the employees here

Good Afternoon:

I received Ms. Pounders' concern on April 13, 2023. Initially, I explained to Ms. Pounders how to detect a leak inside her home, by checking toilets, etc., to which she had no interest, and was insistent that the meter is turned off at the street, and that she often turns the meter on and off, herself, when she visits the property to mow the lawn and use the facilities. I had an FGUA Service Technician dispatched to the location, who replaced the valve and the riser on the meter and made sure that the meter is turned off at the street. Ms. Pounders was advised that no one but FGUA staff is to touch or tamper with the meter, and that should she want the meter turned on at the street, she should contact the FGUA's Customer Service Department to make a request, and the FGUA's Customer Service staff would dispatch a Service Technician to the location to turn on the meter. Ms. Pounders has received an adjustment credit on her two (2) highest billing statements, during the time that the FGUA's equipment was malfunctioning.

With regard to Ms. Pounders issues with the FGUA receiving her payments late, the FGUA cannot control delivery of the U.S., Mail, and customers using their bank's online bill pay system, should give their bank enough time for a paper check to be cut and mailed to the FGUA's Payment Processing Center in Cape Coral. The FGUA's staff has removed two (2) late fees, one on February 20, 2023, and an additional late fee, on April 20, 2023. The FGUA is permitted to remove one (1) late fee per 12-month period as a courtesy to its customers. Ms. Pounders account will not be eligible for any additional late fee removals until after April 20, 2024. The good news is, effective June 1st, the FGUA will have direct to direct payment agreements with financial institutions, so that customers payments will be posted the day in which they are made.

Thank you for your patience as I worked to identify Ms. Pounders concern and as I worked with the FGUA’s Billing staff to have an adjustment credit calculated and applied to her account. Please let me know if I may be of additional assistance.

Kind Regards,

Patti Clark

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] FGUA price gouging, unprofessional customer service.

Water was turned off due to non payment on April 5th.

Customer service informed me that fgua does not reach out to inform you of water services being turned off other than a letter by mail, which I DID NOT RECEIVE.

I was hung up on several times by a rude lady who refused to give me her name; while trying to get my water tuned back on. It seemed as if this cowardly woman was maliciously ignoring my calls in an attempt to increase my payments and or delay the reactivation of my account.

This was after paying due balance and a whopping $140 reactivation payment. $140 for Turing a valve.

I don’t understand how or why this is legal.

FGUA should be ashamed of their policy’s that show utter disregard to their customers as well as their malevolent employees.

Desired outcome: Im demanding a policy change involving an automated phone message alerting the customers of the potential service interruption as well as an appropriate adjustment in the cost of reactivation of water services.

After reviewing Mr. Austin's concern, it was discovered that he has not remitted a payment for his FGUA account in over three (3) months, during which time, late notices were mailed, and not returned to the FGUA by the United States Postal Service, in addition to the customer's monthly Billing Statement, which indicated each month that his account was past due and eligible for disconnection for non-payment. Mr. Austin never made any effort to contact the FGUA's Customer Service Office to advise of financial difficulties or to request an extension to pay his account balance. The FGUA cannot control the delivery of the United States Postal Service. If Mr. Austin is experiencing difficulties receiving his mail via the USPS, he should contact his local USPS branch, to advise of this concern.

If I may be of additional assistance, please let me know.

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Payment Portal Access

It will soon be 1 year since I've moved to Florida and became a FGUA customer. in this period of time I've only been able to successfully access the payment portal 2-3 times which then leaves me no choice but to submit my payments via phone resulting in an additional fee. I've repeatedly tried accessing the payment portal during various times of the day still with no success and receiving the error message that the portal refused to connect. Please assist in resolving this issue. I've checked my anti-virus and firewalls over all search engines and still cannot access the portal. Please provide guidance on this issue. Thanks

Desired outcome: Payment Portal accessibility

Tavares, FL 32778

We are a community of Senior Citizens. (many disabled) We have had billing issues as far back as March 2022. I was working with Robert Maxwell from the Lady Lake office. I have not heard from him since December 16th. His voice mail is usually full on both the office and cell phone. We are being billed for major water leaks, in some months we are being charged twice for the water once the HOA pays and then each individual house is billed. Our regular meter is connected to the irrigation meter, no way of us telling where the leaks are coming from. Basically this is a mess in our community. WE NEED HELP. We do not feel we are being treated fairly.

John Nieves called and spoke with Ms. Perry regarding her concerns. The errors in billing, in which Ms. Perry states a double billing concern, have been credited to the account. The statements are autogenerated and the credits/ adjustments are done manually. In this case, the adjustment to the account were not reflected on the billing statement due to timing of the adjustments being processed; these were completed after the statement was sent. Ms. Perry was informed that if they leaks are on FGUA's side of the meter, the FGUA is responsible for those leaks and the customer would not be charged, any leaks that are passed the meter are the customers responsibility. A meeting with Summit Chase Condos and the FGUA is being scheduled to address the concerns regarding leaks.

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] FGUA water

I am the landlord for the premises **** Van Nuys Loop. My tenant Randy was living in the house and canceled services and started services at his new home. I called 12-20-22 to ask about my bill of $52.53 for acct ******17067 from July that I never got a bill till now. I spoke to Jody and she said that was a past due in between tenants from July and they made a mistake and did not mail the bill to my physical address. I paid the bill and was told I am good and the water is still in the tenants name. I have a new tenant that went 12-30-22 to start service and was told the old tenant has not disconnected service. The old tenant called and said he has an email with confirmation that service was disconnected 12-9-22. Today my tenant Breanna went again to start service and was told there is $328.62 balance and water can not be turned on for her till paid. I called and spoke to Marlene who could not help me, could not give me a manager, and can not turn service on. The house has been vacant...I did not call to reconnect in my name and yet I have $328.62 bill. They can not provide me any information as to when water turned off, when I supposedly put water in my name as they have to application for such.

Desired outcome: They need to figure out the bill as it is not mine. Water needs to be turned on for my new tenant...ASAP

I am new Trinity, Florida Customer. It was easier to pay my pool guy then it was to pay my water set up recently. We had our water disconnected they disconnected it for a $111 pass due from the previous month. The problem is either the post office or they lost the payment. We didn’t get the new bill that showed that the previous bill did not get paid until the day they turned it off in the mail. This is ridiculous. Had to pay $145 reinstatement plus the embarrassment of having our water shut off in our neighborhood. Shame on you folks no customer service terrible terrible. the shut off notice that they put on our door was for the October 19. They turn the water off the day they put the notice on the door the 18th. And remember we got the bill the same day the 18th so we had no idea that the check for $111 didn’t go through. I don’t know who is running this, but this is terrible tactics. Thomas Massey [protected] i’m definitely considering legal action. After the two times dealing with you, you people are rude and unjust and don’t know how to deal with the public.

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Broken pipe

The first time I called, I explained that I've noticed a pool of water on the other side of my bushes. No water pressure change, my meter looked the same. The tech arrived ring the doorbell and said I need a plumber without looking at anything. I walked him and his helper around showed him the meter, he said it was a city issue they would be back on Monday to fix it. Monday came and went and nobody showed up. I called again a week later. The lady in the phone said there was note and she would have someone out shortly to take a look . Sure enough the guy shows up rings my doorbell I open the door and says "you need to call a plumber" and I asked him how could he say that without looking at my meter he walked over to a box outside where he assumed that's were my meter was, quickly noticed that wasn't it and said we are under the impression your meter was here and I explained that I had walked the previous guys to the back to look at the meter and that's when they noticed it was a city problem. He said" oh ok well this isn't an emergency so it will get fixed eventually but it's gonna get pushed back when there is an emergency call". I totally get that but how is it that there is notes on my file, the dispatcher supposedly explained everything and he is still completely unaware of where my meter is and the first thing that comes out of his mouth is "I need to get a plumber" how about you check everything before you start assuming what I need to do and passing the cost to the client. It's a city pipe has nothing to do with my house. My driveway is gonna get messed up, that water is gonna become a breeding ground for mosquitos. I have a 3 year old and I'm currently pregnant, I don't need the additional cost of fixing my driveway and the headache of the mosquitos and the deseases they could potentially carry out of being in nasty pooled water because of his assumptions instead of actually looking for ways to get to the bottom of it. I called the customer service number again asked the lady if she actually out notes in there because the tech seemed to be unaware of what was happening. After explaining it multiple times she said she was going to contact the tech asked me to hold and said "the tech said he told you he was going to fix it" yes he did! That's not what my complaint is about.the complaint is about your techs not listening, the complaint is about your techs being quick to pass the blame to the client instead of assisting in figuring it out. The complaint is about having 0 interest in fixing the issue and without investigations saying to get a plumber. The complaint is about the excuses they provide like "I was on vacation" or "we were under the assumption" So I asked for someone in charge of the tech to give me a call back. Currently waiting. This si the only company for water in Lehigh and it would be nice to feel like they care and we are in good hands not like we are stuck with them because it's all there is and we have to take whatever ridiculous answers they come up with. I want to trust in your company, not be worried that I'm getting cheated it on every single time.

Desired outcome: Better service, professional staff and water pool fixed

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] sewer

I'm a 83 year old veteran. my brother and I bought a home at 1121 Big Oak dr. Lake Wales, Fl. 33898. Three days after we moved in the sewer stopped up. everyone exept FGUA says it is their problem. They have never even sent anyone to look at it. when I call them they are very rude and snarky. The clog is at the edge of the road in the easement. I do not think that I can dig up the sewer on what is not my property. It would sure be nice to speak to some one in person and be treated like a customer and not a pest.

Desired outcome: fix sewer

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Water

I was charged 297 for the month of January and was told my hose was running from 4am to 11 am due to unknown reason as we were not home a neighbor shut of hose when they realized it was running then in February I get a bill for 383 so it definitely wasn't the hose running I had FGUA come out to check for leaks which they said there weren't any I then called my landlord and he repaired a leaky toilet I then get a bill for March for 298 I sent a copy of the repair bill and they are telling me it's 90 days to monitor water usage when my last 4 1/2 years my bill was only 120 why can't the adjust bill looking back at usage instead of me have to pay another 300 that is over 900 in water bills for only 3 months that should be illegal especially when FGUA is already chargers super high rates

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] The smell of crap in our neighborhood from your treatment center

We live on Trask Dr in Holiday Florida. One of FGUA's treatment plant is at the end of our street, three houses down from us. Several times a week our neighborhood smells like the sewer. We can not go outside due to the horrible smell. This can not be healthy for us to smell this odor. At times it comes into our houses. Is this an EPA issue? What can be done. Please can you correct this situation? I am sure there are procedures that can be done to stop this.

Desired outcome: Correction

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] Water bill

This company overcharges for services. I have been a homeowner for the better part of 30 years and have recently moved to sorrento florida and have had no choice but to become the customer of fgua. I live alone, so when I questioned last months water bill over $200 and this months at $150, I was told that the actual water part of my bill was $14. The rest was maintenance fees. Seriously? I request fgua be thoroughly investigated. They are basically raping the citizens in smaller communities that dont have a loud political voice. I live 5 miles away from apopka. Is there really any reason why I shouldnt be on their water system? And I havent even addressed the poor quality. The water smells terrible, alternating between heavy (and I mean heavy sulfur) or heavy bleach. Please consider checking into this company.

FGUA has terrible service. There was a boil water need for 5 days 6/26/20-6/30/20 with NO notice to customers. Our water was brown. A sign on SR54 during a pandemic was not seen by me or many others in our community. No calls or texts even though they've notified customers personally in the past. Requests for 5 day rebates on water bills have been denied...

The technician came to my house on 7/25/2019. He put the flyer on the door to pay by 1 pm that day but he didn't turn the water off. We paid our bill that day but they never turned our water off. They still billed us $125 to reconnect water that they didn't turn off. I have to get help from charities to pay my bills and I'm not going to have them pay for something that never happened.

This company assigns the amount of deposit for a customer based on their zip code. The highest deposits are disproportionately assigned to those lower income areas that a populated by minority customers. In addition they do not transfer prior paid deposit to a new residence in a move. A 2nd deposit must be made in an equal amount, regardless to current or...

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] fgua water bill

FGUA took over my water billing as of October of last year. I received no notification and no bill. I didn't think anything of it because I was on auto pay with the other company. I finally received an overdue notice with a $450 water bill. My water bill has always been under $100. I called and asked for assistance. They sent out a meter guy and said it was my issue. Well. I received the following months bill that week. It was back down to $109. I had made no changes. Leaks do not fix themselves. If I had a leak that caused a super high bill I would have still had the leak and the super high bill. I have tried on numerous occasions to get help from FGU via phone, email, and mail. They refuse to acknowledge me. Other local business owners have come to me and asked about my bill because they received unexplained high bills. This month I paid my bill and something felt odd so I checked and this bill is exactly the same as last month. This company needs to be stopped. They are frauds.

Florida Governmental Utility Authority [FGUA] excessive water bill

I called FGUA customer service 2x due to extremely high water bill. I have cameras that surround my home. On my camera that shows the side of my home where the meter is it shows the meter guy touching my water softener looking for the meter. Upon his search, he accidently turned my water softener on in september unbeknown to me. Instead of shutting it off or coming to let me know he walked away. Not only did he not notify me or the company, but for 2 months the meter guys failed to report the excessive, explosive leak. What if someone else accidsntly turned it on? Its the meter guys responsibility in informing me and or the water company of the leak which they did not! I am hit with this bill now, 3 months of extremely high water bill. We do not use the water softener, moved in 2 plus years ago and never once used it. My camera shows noone else by the water softener and meter which is directly behind the softener except the meter guy every month. I should not be responsible or held accountable for something someone else did. The camera I have is wireless and is connected to an app which deletes the videos after a certain time. Wasnt aware of it until I went to try to upload it to BBB. It is the water companies place and decision to doing right by their customers. However, they do not because they know they have us by the you know what. They also know that if we don't pay, they shut the water off. That is not right. If we had a choice to choose water companies, you bet they would do right by us.
