RE: THE INVISIBLE COMPANY: Yardworks
Mr. Kuntze made the statement that "the Yardworks company seems to like being invisible". If you do a little digging you will discover that in the Trade Marks Journal of the Government of Canada, volume 47, number 2401 dated November 1st, 2000, the trade-mark "Yardworks Canada" was registered (registration number 873, 954) to the Canadian Tire Corporation Limited, 2180 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario M4P 2V8. Interestingly enough, the trademark application was made on April 1, 1998. April Fool's, anyone?

I purchased Yardworks enviro safe I’ve melting salt and it ruined my brand new concrete stairs and finish on my driveway. Both the stairs and driveway were sealed with brock white sealant as well and it still pitted up my stairs as well ruin the colour finish of my driveway! This is unacceptable and you wouldn’t think a product out there would do such a thing considering it’s enviro safe as well!

Never ever buy Yardworks. Go to Home Depot for customer service. I only buy at CT when I have too. Mostly plants. CT makes such a fuss about returns that I no longer buy anything there. They do not stand behind their products. I bought a Weed Wacker and the charger broke so I stupidly bought another one as the replacement battery was almost the same price as a whole new weed wackier. Now the second battery charger no longer works. Now I have two perfectly good Weed Wackers that I cannot charge. I can no loner find out where to get one as they have changed the model plus I'm sick of throwing my money away on YARDWORKS.

Found this post as I was typing the following into Hellopeter.com. Yes the Invisible scam company, Yardworks. The even larger scam company for selling fake warranty products - Canadian Tire!

MY STORY:

These products are sold mostly by Canadian Tire but probably elsewhere too. I purchased a Yardworks 160cc gas lawn mower last year August (2019) from Canadian Tire in British Columbia, Canada where I live. The lawnmower comes with a 3 year warranty which Canadian Tire won't honor if the date you're returning the item is more than 7 days. So the lawn mower worked well for the first couple months but I had an issue getting it to start this year. I was told by my local Can Tire (where I bought it) that its not their problem and I must take it up with Yardworks. Yardworks claims that the motor is a Honda motor and Honda will repair the motor as the machine does not start. Husquavana are a local Honda agent who refuse to honor this work or warranty. Honda themselves have told me numerous times they will not repair a machine purchased from another store, that has another manufacturers warranty.

I have called Yardworks customer service so many times to ask how to get this fixed and resolved. Each time its a different story with empty promise. I to this day, cannot get this lawn mower fixed under warranty, therefore I was sold a product with a warranty which no one will honor, including the manufacturer.

I've been given the run around for months now and actually purchased another lawn mower. I have a case number with Yardworks and they have not contacted me in a couple months. The last call I got was someone who said they promise they will assist me and when I explained the run around I've had, never called back again. To this day, never heard a thing. Disgusting service from Yardworks and Canadian Tire for selling product which lies to consumers about warranty and after sale service.

I agree with you in regards to pretty much everything going to shyte IF you buy it from Canadian Tire, smh. And their customer service is just atrocious, don't even know how they're allowed to get a way with all their underhanded bs sales pitches, along with their trusted and true first day training for the gaslighting of their trusting loyal customers, if they push back against the insanity/idiocy of Crapadian Tire.

This company does not just need a bad review. The issue is much worse than this. Can you imagine a lawn lower under warranty and it stops working after just one time usage. The service by Canadian tire is just ridiculously miserable. It is a real shame that this company is called Canadian. It is a shame for all of us Canadians. I am being completely robbed off by these people. The machine does not work, they tell me there was not a drop of oil though there were. You pay $30 in order to take your machine back though under warranty. Next time after using the machine once, it does not work, they tell me because too much oil! and pay $30 to take the machine back, though it is under warranty. Use it only one time again, and the machine does not work bring it to them they told me it is because bad gas! though the gas was fresh from the station and pay $30 to get your machine back. These people are robbers and it is a real shame that the company is called Canadian by all means. My worst of the worst experience I had to get into in this country

Yard works as a company is beyond horrible! They sell garbage tools and lawn equipment that they know will never hold up so they attach a lifetime warranty label to the packaging knowing full well there will be no warranty given. Bought a pair of telescopic hedge shears for my husband, after using them for literally six snips they will not close all the way! Looking at them it doesn’t make sense why they aren’t closing. I looked for a number to call here in Ohio and they don’t give a contact number or even a legit website. It sends me directly to a store in Canada! How are they supposed to help me? Oh right..they won’t! Taking this piece of trash back to Menards and I Will Be Getting My Money Back! Not without informing them what junk Yardworks is!

I purchased a Yard Works 24 volt Lithium-ion battery charged grass trimmer. I'm no one bit impressed with the charger unit. The issue is that after about a year use the very light wire connections on both ends of the charger and so small and fine that with and bending what so ever the fine wires brake when the enter the charger unit and as well the wall unit. Now with the wires broken they are sorted out and the charger no longer works. Not to mention the fact the price of a new charger is out of this world, it would be cheaper to buy a total new unit. The sad thing is I just paid $60.00 for a new battery to have as a back up. On for the trimmer it works great if I only had a reliable quality charger. you can respond to me at fredright@sympatico.ca I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in Advance.

Yard Works (Richmond, VA) is the absolute worst company have ever encountered. Over the years, I have spent thousands of dollars on their products. I will never use their products again. Too many other options. I believe they will be going "out of business" soon. I will do all I can to ensure federal civil service personnel know Yard Works for what they are with regard to customer service - zero!

I got a yard works wheelbarrow for fathers day no receipt as my son lives out of town put 150 pounds in it went thirty feet hit a bump and the handle broke off and went back to Canadian tire and they said they had no replacement handles and they would not honour it without a receipt as it was bought out of province and was told I would have to find the handles off of the internet what a joke.

Called the customer service number for Yard works about my cordless grass trimmer, I have already bought a second battery and the customer service lady was not helpful at all and rude. After being on hold for 30 minutes they basically told me to go buy yet another battery and or charger. I will never ever buy any Yard works products again and would not recommend to anyone. the customer service people and their products are sub par

I have a Yardworks 20V 10" chainsaw and 20V hedgetrimmer. I have a second saw and a second hedgetrimmer, different color, but labelled Greenworks. These tools, especially the chainsaw, were sold under several other names/colors also. Yes, they are cheap and certainly not robust. However, treated with care they can do a huge amount of work. But eventually they will need to be repaired. I have four of the 6Ah batteries. The oldest is about 5 years old now, and definitely has lost capacity, probably 50%. Still usable, especially in the hedgetrimmers. The keys to delaying their failure are to not punish them by draining severely, and don't leave them on the charger after they're charged. I've had to do a few repairs that probably are beyond most people's diy skills: obtained and replaced blade set on one of the hedgetrimmers, reinforced the handles on both hedgetrimmers, replaced the motor on one chainsaw (got gummed up with oil), replaceed big gear wheel assembly on same chainsaw, fiberglass reinforcement inside two areas of the of the case for one chainsaw, and modified the bar cover plate to prevent bar from moving and breaking the case. BUT, I have used these chainsaws for thousands of trees, up to 10", for 5 years. 90% of the use was on one of the chainsaws, probably 100 hours. The hedgetrimmers have been used a lot also. Enough to wear out the blades on one. For parts, try contacting https://www.dixiesales.com/, http://www.ordertree.com/greenworks/, http://www.m-and-d.com/

I have a 14" push lawn mower that is in its 3rd year. I have small lawns front and back and this mower has been more than satisfactory for my needs. The issue is that recently one of the plastic brackets that hold the roller for height adjustment has broken. I phoned Yardworks with the model number and part description to order a replacement. While the CSR was quite pleasant and did not keep me waiting on the line very long, he was unable to help with my request. Apparently if this bracket had broken within the "2 year replacement period" they would have provided a whole new replacement mower and not just replaced the broken part. It makes no sense to me that a part that costs less than a buck (I assume) renders a $100.00 mower useless, or virtually so.

Bought a tree pruning saw- brought it home, cut off about three branches and small ones at that- it fell apart, repaired it myself [7miles to Can Tire and no service there anyway]- back to work and it fell apart again in a different place- all this in the space of 2 hrs.- Will have to fix it again myself as the store has only 16 yr kids and the odd bored housewife working there- no real technical talent [I hold a couple of valid journeyman trades tickets and have a more than full shop]. The problem is that over and above the 50 bucks it cost me to buy it, there is the issue of my wasted bloody time running back and forth to the store to exchange it [it was the only one there as it was] or get my money back and go elsewhere. What I really should do is send them an invoice for my wasted time! Do we as consumers not have the right to have a reasonable expectation that whatever goods we buy are going to work in a reasonable fashion when they are new out of the box or has our service ethic gone out the window!

In May of 2014 we purchased a Yardworks gas lawn mower, Model 0601642, from a Canadian Tire store in the Montreal region. Well by the end of the season last summer some parts, including the blade needed to be replaced. My husband has spent hours trying to get through to someone... we've tried both the 1-866, as well as the 1-877 numbers, but no one answers... a machine that says press 1 for this, press 2 for that, but when you press the numbers... absolutely nothing! This is beyond wrong... I don't understand how Consumer Protection have allowed them to get away with this for so long. That's my next letter, as well as a letter to Canadian Tire head office and returning their credit card!

I purchased a yardworks all metal hose reel which costs 159.00. I used it for one year and a piece blew off of it and I phoned Yardworks and they said it is only guaranteed for one year and the box says 4 years. I asked if I could order the new part and she said they do not have replacement parts. Therefore I am finished with Yardworks products, will not be buying them anymore as they are very poor quality.

I have a lifetime yardworks bypass pruner that I have the original bill for and last week my husband took it along with my broken pruner to Canadian Tire and they gave him a replacement but mentioned that it would be the last one and that we will have to contact yardworks in the future. As I have read above...a easy way to say go away as the company doesn't exist on it own. I have more fuel for the fire for when I break my next pruner.

Approximately March /April 1914 I bought a Yardworks electric chainsaw. I've had Remington, and Poulan before, but this had a 2 year warranty. BIG MISTAKE. As someone else mentions, Canadian Tire does not carry parts for Yardworks products. Unfortunately, this includes chains, even though they gave me the Canadian Tire parts # 545703. This was through the [protected] number, which incidentally on the box, and the saw, and it came with a tag not to go to Canadian Tire for warranty, to call the company .
Went to a store last night and the girl was very helpful, did a computer search in store, had main office check other stores, none of them carry this part #. And even though there is an Oregon Bar on the saw, non of the Oregon chains list Yardworks. Surprise .surprise. I can order a chin for $30. some dollars, but at TSC you can buy 2 chains for other saws at that price. The real bummer is this chain is longer than any other 16" chain. So now I have a very heavy oily paperweight.. Off to put a review on Canadian Tire website, maybe I can save someone else the agony. Suggest you all do the same!
By the way, first time I called store were I bought it, girl was amazed I needed a new chain "already". Guess their original purpose was to be a paperweight!

I've been unfortunate enough to have purchased/been gifted yardworks products, in the past NEVER AGAIN! The lawn sweeper is complete garbage, with plastic gears and tires that strip and break off. The round nose shovel is a flimsy piece of garbage that will either sprain your wrist or roll your ankle when stepping into it while digging. The metal lawn rake with a wood handle snapped in two with minimal force applies to it! The pruning shears either jam up, or simply spread apart during the shearing action! DO NOT BUY YARDWORKS! ...and don't be the A-hole to gift that garbage to anyone!

Bought a yardworks cordless trimmer, worked for one summer with very light use. Next year it just had no power to cut the grass even though the battery seemed to charge okay. Phoned the help line and the lady said she would send me a new battery as she said sometimes in the store they have sat too long and don't work. Got the battery, charged it up and same thing, nothing happened. What a waste of money as I hate just throwing stuff like this in the garbage but no one seems to want to look at it. Phoned the guy that actually works on stuff like this and he said it wasn't worth it for him to look at it. He advised me to throw it and buy something else!

Bought a yardworks 4 in 1 electric lawn maintenance machine about four years ago, worked for two seasons then the mirror started smoking, haven't been able to get support for it at all.really think that Canadian tire should step up and take responsibility for there products .seems that everyone who buys yardworks product breaks down and Canadian tire just turns a blind eye to the customer. Wounder what would happen if we all banded together and started a law suit against them if they would change there mind and start helping there customers.

Bought a Yardworks 4 in one Electric mower . Worked well while it did, about 3 seasons. turns out that key drive components are made of cheap plastic that have worn out to the point of melting. I phoned the contact number in the manual the customer service rep was very nice and what parts that were available were inexpensive, key components are no longer available. I paid $300 +tax for what is now essentially junk. Not pleased at all. Wish i had just bought a 20 year old Lawnboy off Kajiji instead it would still be running after im dead and gone.

wow. I am suprised to be caught in such a large fish loop here.
bought a simple electric mower. trusted the store name copr "Canadian Tire' to sell decent material. I couldn't even cut my lawn due to the way they made teh level groves- as the mower vibrates on normal grass - it instantly slides to 'beeny cut ' level.
burning the grass instantly all the time after 1 and a half steps.
so annoying.
they designed the fingers where the level switch sits too short.
of course reading here, i see why CAnadian tire refuses to support their customers... they own this side company that I guess supposedly makes these 'Fisher Price' -like mowers. and sells them for 150.00 - now any lower income people will buy them, have instant problems with them, and then be stolen a 150.00- well or the long option of waiting yet another 4 weeks. lol they say to get your mower looked at and we-designed properly. lol what a loop. disguising to see Canadian Tire go so low these days to choose money over human respect and customer care. barf. so appointed and robed. -Bonnie in Winnipeg.

I have a Yardworks 4 ton log splitter. Worked fine the first time I used it - split several elm logs from our property. Went to start it up next spring and nothing - except a blown circuit breaker. Yardworks contact said nothing could be done without a sales receipt. Took it to an electric motor repair shop locally - they replaced a capacitor for $60. Took it home, split two logs and blew the capacitor again. Another trip to the shop - only $46 this time - split one small log and blew the third capacitor. There is something seriously wrong with this machine - won't even split a 4" log without blowing a capacitor. Now I have a very heavy and very expensive boat anchor.

Yard works IS Canadian tire. Look iit up in a corporate registry. The company hides behind this shell to feign helplessness when inevitably customers come back with products that are essentially shoddy imports from hong kong. Take the cordless mower for example. The product was discontinued after buyers complained the 300 dollar batteries were failing through no fault of their own. Rather than admit it sold garbage, Canadian tire "redesigned" the POS, and continues to deny culpability to its customers. I'm done with this once significant retailer. They've lost my business for good.

Purchased a Yardworks electric mower. used for one brief Calgary season cutting a 20 x20 foot inner city lawn. so perhaps four to five cuts. End of season it began to bog and die under no load. No receipt kept so Canuckistan Tire refuses to discuss. New Crappy tire policy is send this Chinese junk back to the Mfg if you can find them. Had theneighbour
take it apart and he says the brushes are shot after four cuts and they are poorly made to begin with. Will see if we can find brushes that will fit. Motor is a bit of rubbish as well. I would steer clear of Canadan Tire for anything like this pay a bit more and go with a recognized manufacturer. Chinese can be well made or utter crap. CT needs a nationwide boycott but we are to tinid to tell them to pound sand.

I wish I had read all these insightful comments before I bought a Yardworks product. I was suspicious when Canadian Tire gave me a sheet of paper as I walked out the door (after I had paid for it) that basically says once the box has been opened, the warranty is no longer covered by Canadian Tire, only by the manufacturer. I have been looking for a Yardworks website, which seems not to exist, making me more suspcious and that's how I ended up here. I really wanted to find out where the closest warranty repair shop is to my home before I opened the box. Never did find that information. Thanks to you all for posting these comments. I have not opened the box and will return the product immediately.

We have several Yardworks products, including a riding mower. We decided to buy a sprinkler and bought the most expensive one from Yardworks. It started out great...then an hour later, stopped oscillating. We returned it and of course no stock on that model, so we bought the mid=priced model. It lasted for a total of 2 hours. Same problem. Again, we returned it. Again, no stock on that model. We took the cheapest one. It lasted longer than the other 2. A total of about 2 days, then the same thing.
That's it for yardworks and us.
