Hello All

Today I tried to register a domain name through Yahoo and after I made the purchase I realized that they will be charging me $34.95 for every year after the initial period ends. I cancelled my purchase immediately. (Approximately 5 minutes after the purchase) If I buy a car, you can bring it back in 5 minutes but Yahoo does not reimburse the fee they charged for. This is not the issue of $10 but how they exploit people.

What kind of consumer right we have. Do we need to read 500 hundred pages of agreement terms for every purchase? Why can’t we trust a company with some common sense? I think the most important market differentiation strategy for the future will be TRUST… and companies like Yahoo will pay a price for their opportunistic implementations…

I think there is a reason why they do not perform and become a laggard behind Google.

Please share this experience with others for minimizing any other exploitation.

Sincerely;

I totally agree. They auto-extend your service. Sure, it is there in the term, but like you said, who reads the service agreement. The company is going down and down. They even increase the registration fee to $35 a year after $10 of the first year. I guess they desperately just want to raise cash, but people are not blind and that stupid, it will come back to bite you in the future and then yahoo will end up with much worse figure.
