People, be aware that the website www.VinCheck.com is real scam. I haven’t used their services, but they got my personal info and started to take money from me. I was really upset and tried to get money from these jerks. But they haven’t replied to my emails and messages. I have no idea what to do now. I wonder if there are people, who had the same thing. Maybe you can advise me how to stop these withdrawals. Please post your ideas and comments. Thanks.

Be careful to use them, they might be good but they will use this one time with onlinevinchecks to open like a contract and will put you on a monthly charge for $23.95. I recognized this only after several month and had some work to do with the Creditcard Company.

I posted a truck on Craigslist. Next day had someone interested but texted me they wanted a Vin Check with VinChecked.com. After I got it, the email address they sent didn't work. Phone said disconnected. Definate
scam.
I didn't stop payment with bank because auto was very old and I actually am glad I have the report.
But, it is a definite scam.

I had the same happen to me. In my case i got first a call from [protected] and the caller hung up as i picked up. I then got a 1st message saying 'hey sorry i'm walking into this restaurant had to disconnect...was wondering about the 2013 volvo ...do you still have it for sale? i like it a lot' . After i told him "yes' he asked me to run a car check on vin-checking.com which leads to vinchecked.com. Thanks a lot to everyone else who posted in this thread for sharing the warning about this scam, i was just about to fall for it too...

They used the same scam on me as they did in above comments. When I saw the VIN report I knew it was a scam...it was so simple. So I searched and found this site. I contact my card company and had my card cancelled. Now! I have to fix all the auto-payments that were connected to that card. I'm so pissed, but thankful! And thankful that all of you took the time to post this information so I could stop the scam. I just wish that Craig's List would post a warning! Here's the a-hole's info if it can help prevent another person from becoming a victim:He sent me this link: http://bring.justclarification.rockswhich linked up to www.VinCheck.comPhone #: [protected] email: lombardizadafqi@yahoo.com

I did not fall for it either. Texted me from [protected], email was u1990tpg@yahoo and they directed me to http: please.checkitnow.website? Same conversation as everyone else, "I want to buy it tomorrow!". Who is that eager? Don't you want to know anything about it? I went to the website and couldn't find any info on them at all. Told him I'd send him/her a CARFAX but then just decided to tell him/her that it wasn't available anymore. They stopped the conversation. Joke is on them, though, cause it is still available. Anyone want to buy a car?

Count me as one of the many that have been duped (apparently). We have successfully used Craigslist 3 times to sell our vehicles. We listed another car on Craigslist this past weekend. No inquires at all until last night...when I get a text from [protected]. Person was "really interested" in the car...but wanted to make sure they weren't buying a lemon. Sent me an email address and a link to a website asking me to run a VIN report and sent it to them. I did...got the report...it looks harmless enough with no personal identification other than the VIN on the car, so I sent it to the email address provided. Then something told me to check into this website and I come across all of this. Needless to say, I am out $12.95...a small price to pay for a great lesson learned. Scammers are everywhere. I have already contacted my back. My card is frozen and they are sending me a new one.

I posted my car to Craigslist and got a message from [protected], this is a California number and I live in Michigan so it immediately threw up a red flag, I googled the number and found nothing. They then said that they wanted a report before they would purchase the vehicle and asked me to email it to wtshztjbf7@yahoo.com (another red flag), and sent me a link to Vinchecked.com, luckily I came across this site as I had my vin number ready to go. Be careful people and keep posting the numbers they are texting from so they pop up in Google searches.

We posted my son's car on Craigslist and the scammer text was word for word as reported. Unfortunately, I fell for the VIN number scam. After reading these posts I will be contacting my bank to make sure they never take another dime. I should have looked up the number first :(

Just got the same thing on craigslist, close call. Someone needs to do something about this site before older people get scammed.

Received a text from [protected] Everything that has been posted here is exactly the same. This is worth pointing out, they are using a Google service to shorten their site name. Makes it a bit more confusing to run a check on them. The site I was to go to was.. http://carhistoryforme.com/? Like another poster said, when listing on Craigslist suspect that you will be scammed. Just research . The PayPal craigslist scam, cashiers checks scam.

Got a text from [protected] when selling my vehicle on Craigslist. They asked "Could you please run a report- http://tiny.cc/4ta96x just so I know that its clean, " and said they'd buy it if it was clean. I fell for it, and didn't hear back from the person once I bought the vehicle history report from vinlookupnow.com. I have called my credit card company to alert them!

Thanks to all of you! I google searched "vinchecked.com scam" and found this thread BEFORE entering my cc info. I reported to internet fraud department just for good measure. My rule of thumb is "when on CL, assume you will be scammed"...especially when selling anything over $100!

I just recieved one not so long ago around 8:30pm from a [protected] number. It said the same thing, to go that exact website to get a vehicle report and to email him. Once he gets it, he'll come and buy it from me this weekend. I told him that I can give him the report when he looks at the car. His reply, "Sounds great. Thanks". It was an odd time to text me about the car, also saying they'll buy the car right after they get the report

Vin Report I received showed NO ACCIDENTS for my vehicle. I bought the car. Later, I find it had been in TWO separate accidents, 3 years apart, neither of which was reported. The last accident was over 3 years ago. The total number of owners was also down by one.

Everything I have read so far pretty much matches up to this scammer texting me right now. Area code from Phoenix, Arizona. I said that I would prefer to use carfax and asked why they were so eager to "come buy the car this weekend" when they have never seen it. Just messing with them at this point ;).

[protected] is the number that contacted me with the same story. Run a report on the site they send. Thank goodness I looked it up and found this comment page. Saved myself a lot of headache.

I just posted a car on craigslist and got a text from [protected]. the text stated they wanted to buy the car. looking back I see on the text that the message was in small letters except for my vehicle and info from craigslist that appeared in caps. they asked if I ever had a vehicle report run on the car, and if I could follow the link http://goo.gl/0azCJC which pulled up the site VINChecked.com. the site asks for your email and card info, which I did stupidly. the return email address provided from the scammer was stated as gussidecaro@yahoo.com. I realized the scam immediately after I got the generic download and then I called the number that texted me only to get hung up on after ten or so rings. I went to bank and cancelled the card and decided even though the charge was 12.95 I still wanted it back. why give these pukes a cent? I reported them to the bank and walk away from this knowing these scams are getting real detailed and are put together with brains. its too bad these people that are smart enough to do all this cant go work for someone, get paid well and help people from being scammed! there seems to be a longer term of steady money in working to help people not hurt.

I too was taken. I should have googled the site before giving out my card number like a fool.
I called the card company almost a week later to cancel the card and thank god there were no additional purchases.

Fell for it too. Got a report back, but it was just a bunch of green check marks saying no flood damage, no salvage title, etc. I called my bank this morning and they are taking care of the fraud on my account, but I'm out a debit card for a week :/ Why are people so evil...

Today I reported the website and the person that texted me about my car that I just posted on Craigslist this morning to the internet fraud and complaint department. Everyone that has posted on this scam should do the same thing as well as report to all banks and the federal government. This is not only criminal, it is fraud, identity theft, credit card fraud, and on and on. This is probably an overseas crime ring as the computerized automatic text messages were instant and didn't really matter what I wrote to them so it's a scam and a well played one so it has a few brain cells behind it. Report it, report it, report it is all I can say!

I don't know about the initial complaint here, but Conner on the 5th of November is spot on. I just experienced the same thing after posting my truck on Craigslist. Even them saying "They replied saying they didn't feel comfortable running the vin because they weren't the legal owner." was word for word in the text to me. I was about to run a Carfax until reading this. Thank you Connor, Complaints Board, and others here.

I just posted my car to craigslist and I got a text saying they were interested in buying the car and that they needed me to go on the sight they provided and run my vin, after getting a carfax from my work I offered him that instead. I also told them that I didn't feel comfortable putting my info on that website and gave them the vin so they could check. They replied saying they didn't feel comfortable running the vin because they weren't the legal owner. So I told them I would not put my info on there and to either take the Carfax report or run the vin themselves

Vinchecked sends a you a text after you post a car for sale appearing to be an interested buyer. Then they ask you to get a Vin check from a specific Web address which turns out to be vinchecked. Slimy people, beware.

If they took money from you via your bank or credit card, that can be refunded by your bank. Contact them and report it, open up a case. You will get your money back.
