worried what to do
Complaint Rating:
Company information: university of phoenix Illinois United States
I don't know what to do please give us advice. My husband was just about to enroll in a local college when he heard about University of Phoenix and transferred his pell grant and student loan to them. He thought it would be easier to do online than to drives 45 minutes 4 times a week. He is serious about going back to school. He attends class and writes responses in the required forms. He was told that he will recieve his grant money in 3-5 days and now its been over a week still no check. Furthermore, they sent 2 adviser notices stating that he hasn't been in attendance for a class and is being dropped. Due to my being skeptical I made him copy the pages where he had posted to show that he was there and did the work. I don't know what to do. I would like for him to go to the state school he originally was going to go to but have been told that if he tries to transfer, even if he waits till second semester they will stop him from getting his grant and loans. They will not let him switch even if he completes the rest. And since they will auto drop him from class he is in default and will owe money for the class that aid won't cover. I don't know what to do, I don't know if they are lying to trick him, I don't know what happened to the pell grant check that was in the mail, I don't know if they can keep him from using his loan even if he transfers. I just don't know and I am worried that they will make it impossible for him to go back to school, and he was so excited about it. If a stupid friend hadn't swayed him at literally the last possible day he could switch, he would be in state school as we speak and know that everything is on the up and up. I felt like something was off with these people as everytime they called they asked more and more about our personal lives and it felt to me more like they were selling us on something than helping him get into school. It felt very used cars salesman like and I told him then I didn't trust them. Now I don't know what to do, he was so sure this was going to be good for him and now I think they might ruin his chance at going back to school and getting government help with the grant and loan. According to the financial aid advisor, the check was in the mail, now he supposedly is being dropped for non attendance, and I am just so worried. Please, if you know what to do, send me an email at soulfire76@gmail.com any advice is welcome.
