World Wide Speed Post SCAM!!!

I have just experienced the same thing, I had an item for sell advertised on Gumtree!
Number 1 rule always follow your gut feeling.
If someone shows an interest in something you are selling, is very keen and not remotely interested in viewing before purchase be weary, If they then say they will send the money straight away via Paypal and you must give them your Paypal email & home address for shipping- this is a scam! You will then receive a further email saying that they have made the payment including the extra money for shipping & delivery of the item. You will possibly receive these so-called Paypal emails via your junk inbox asking you also to make the shipping payment to western union and also stating that Paypal are 'holding funds until item is sent'
Luckily i looked up the shipping agent and realised it was a scam, apparently once you make the payment to western union the scammer will then withdraw from buying the item and then you will find out that the delivery & shipping is NON- EXISTENT!

The SCAMMER that contact me was called CLAIRE LORNA!

World Wide Speed Post Craigslist Phoenix Scam Buyer

This company is a fake being used by scam buyers! I had placed a Craigslist ad in Phoenix to sell furniture for $400. Within less than 4 hours of placing my ad, I received an email response from a prospective buyer named Rachel Alanna ([protected]@gmail.com). She claimed to be handicapped, not able to come see the furniture, thereby requesting additional photos. I sent these to her; about a day later I got an email saying she was buying the furniture for her daughter in New Hampshire and stated she needed my full name and address to provide the shipping company. I asked her to provide me the $400 payment in cash; she replied telling me she would use PayPal because it was secure and asked for my email. Foolishly I sent that info to her, but my gut feeling was there was something fishy going on. Sure enough, I began getting emails from a Shipping Agent Mike Sears asking me to send $300 via Western Union to his address: 95 Shady Ridge Rd, Somerville AL 35670. His email listed: [protected]@tx.am. The Western Union request immediately raised a red flag! They list the furniture is to be shipped to Rachel Alanna, 110 Broadway, Concord NH 03301. But when I Google'd the address, it isn't legit. I also got 4 emails from a phony PayPal address listed as "[protected]@intl.paypal.com" stating they had deposited $730 but that the funds were not accessible until I paid the shipping fee. Just like another complaint stated, their English writing is very poor; within the PayPal email with all the fancy logos to make it look legitimate, you can see the English is badly written. The Craigslist warning about avoiding deals involving wiring money and shipping are true. Sellers Be VERY WARY and if it smells like rotten eggs, then it probably is rotten eggs!

World Wide Speed Post Scam Artist!!!

I put an ad on Craigslist to sell my leather sofas and an arm chair for $1500. Right away I got an email from '[protected]@gmail.com' asking for more pictures which I did. And then same person contacted me with different email '[protected]@gmail.com', I guess he had too many different emails and forgot to send me with a same email.

He said:
Hello,
>
> I so much appreciate your response to my earlier mail. I wish to let
> you know that I'm satisfied with the condition.Like I said there's no
> doubt I'm going to purchase it if you are ready to sale it for me.
> Therefore I want you to consider it sold by withdrawing the advert
> from craigslist. Note that you will not be responsible for shipping
> and handling. My shipping company will come to your location for pick
> up. Kindly provide me your name and full address, so i can forward it
> to the shipping company to calculate the cost of pick up for me.I
> would like you to know that the payment will be made via PayPal
> because is fast and secured to send and received money online, All you
> have to send me now is your full address where the item we be pick-up
> and your PayPal email address so that i can proceed with the payment
> immediately.
>
> Hope to hear from you soon

As soon as he brought up PayPal (no Cash) suggestion, I was a little suspicious. I only gave him my pick up address and didn't give him the account number. Not much after, I received an email from a shipping company called 'world wide speed post' by Lisa Xavier '[protected]@mail2customs.com', saying they want to arrange a pick up. But the funny thing is only few minutes later this guy sent me another message saying:

> Thank you so much. I have forwarded the address to the shipping company so
> they can calculate the pick up and delivery cost for me to make the payment.
> I'm sure they will contact you soon. I would like you to know that the
> payment will be made via PayPal because is fast and secured to send and
> received money online, All you have to send me is your paypal email address
> so I can make the payment immediately.

I checked the company name on Google and there was a similar company name called 'speed post in Singapore' which looks like a real company. Still it didn't make sense. I live in Canada, why would someone buy furniture offshore? And I found out the complaints on this website. Thanks to you!

I believe he is only looking for things that are expensive and heavy so that he can make excuses of the weight and money security to scam people.

THE IMPORTANT THING IS WHENEVER PEOPLE ASK YOU TO SEND THEM ANY MONEY ONLINE (DOESN'T MATTER WHAT KIND OF BRILLIANT REASONS THEY GIVE YOU), YOU GOTTA SUSPECT IT AS SCAM.

World Wide Speed Post Fraudulent

I have posted a piano for sale on craiglist, and a buyer by name of Carla Wealth ([protected]@yahoo.com) contacted me to buy it by just looking a few pictures I sent over email. And he asked to pay through paypal. Then I got some (now I realized it must be fake) paypal notification saying that the money is deposited, and Carla has also emailed saying that he/she has deposited the money + shipping cost to my paypal, but require me to pay to an agent from World Wide Speed Post through Western Union for the shipping from my end to secure the transaction. I was stupid enough the first time to transfer the money for the shipping fee through Western Union; until I realize something is not right when they asked for the 2nd time, and the money is still not showing up on my actual paypal account.

So if you got email from "[protected]@paypal®.com" , it is a fake paypal email notification.

If they asked you to send any money to tranport company, or by the name of World Wide Speed Post, or to any of their agents such as the two below, you know it's fraudulent:

World Wide Speed Post Car Buying Scam

This company is totally fake! I had posted my car for sale on Craigslist and received an email from a buyer that wanted to purchase the vehicle with only viewing a couple pictures of the exterior. He said he was camped at a remote location and was unable to speak with me personally regarding this sale. He wanted to pay for the vehicle through Paypal because it is so secure. His English writing was very poor and he kept saying how much he appreciated my understanding of the situation. I told him about needing his signature on the appropriate documents but he never responded to any of that but just wanted my Paypal email account name so he could transfer the money. He did give me an address that looks like a military address but when googled, points to a London location. So watch out for this type of scam. It doesn't seem to be well known about yet but it definitely seems like this scammer was trying to hack into my paypal account. Whats wrong with people?!?!?

It is now Jan 4, 2011. Over Christmas, my wife and I received duplicates of all the above emails related to a kitchen table we are selling on Craigslist - From Mandy Larose, from Richard Wilson at PayPal and from world wide speed post. Asked this morning for us to Western Union $250 for shipping to Charles Perkins in Baltimore. PayPal would then release the purchase price plus the $250! Sheesh! Reported them to PayPal, Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and local police

BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!

Hi there,
The exact same thing has just happened to me. A Mandy LaRose from Baltimore claiming interest in purchasing my bike, this person made a big mistake though and accidentally said that they had transfered $1700 into my pa pal account for this item, when I was only asking $1000. The e-mails were very strange right from the get go with poor grammer and bad broken english. The last e-mail I received was this morning saying that $2650 had been deposited to my paypal account but before this transaction could be approved I would need to go to Western Union to transfer $900 to the shipping company prior to pick up. The remaining $1700 would be for the item and the other $50 for the Western Union processing fee. Luckily as soon as they wanted me to pay this $900 upfront a huge red flag went off...and then I dug a little bit deeper and have now found all of this!

Here are a couple of the e-mails I received from this person:

Here is an example of the letter that was sent to me from "PAYPAL" this is a scam, so everyone out there be careful.

We have received an order from one of our customer to make an instant payment of $2, 680.00USD to your PayPal account. The payment has been made successfully and the money has been credited to your PayPal account but you will not have access to it. However, since this money is meant for a purchase or a service that involve a Shipping Company. We have to receive a confirmation that you have sent the pick up cost to Good Speed Express Mail before the money will be available for spending. This is due to the large increase in the rate of the online scams recorded last year (2009). We have changed some of our rules and regulation to make sure our clients, are safe from scam, PayPal in conjunction with The FBI and The IFCC has invented certain preventive measure to ensure the safety of our customers.

Such measure are:

1. Once a payment is made, A confirmation Email will be sent to the seller that the payment has been made to state the transaction details which has been sent to you. Also a confirmation is sent to the buyer that the money has been deducted from his or her account. So once you get this mail, You should take necessary action and get back to us with the confirmation that you have sent the pick up cost to the shipping company. Once we have confirmed the information provided with the shipping company, the money will be available instantly.

2. Once a payment is made and it has been approved by PayPal, such transaction is Sealed (because both seller and buyer must have come to a conclusion before payment is made by the buyer) so therefore neither the buyer or seller can cancel this transaction or ask for the returned to the buyer's account. Also, this is where we generate our income, because the more transaction made through PayPal, the more we generate our Income.

3. Failure to abide by these laid down safety measures by PayPal may leads to suspension from PayPal and further more invitation to an interrogation with the F.B.I

So can you see we are very considerate about the safety of both buyer and seller.

Note: that the pick up cost has been included in the payment.

Thank you for using PayPal!

World Wide Speed Post Fake company

This company is fraudulent! I was contacted by someone who expressed a KEEN interest in an item I was selling on craigslist. Before even seeing the item (a wheelchair lift) or haggling on the price they had this fake shipping company contact me to pick up the lift. The "buyer" agrees to make their payment to Paypal saying that Paypal would then pass the funds along to me within a few days. Paypal has no delay in payment and my research indicates this is a scam to obtain your Paypal account number. The apparent ease of the sale made me suspicious which led me to look into it. After learning about the scam I posted warnings on craigslist and the first two were flagged for deletion, almost certainly by the perpetrators of the scam. Who else would be motivated to do that but the scammers? Look for the warning signs previously mentioned and use caution!

Thanks everyone for your posts, thanks to this website finally I could confirm that this "company" is a scam.
I was selling a fridge and a guy named Juan Marcy with email jmarcy55@yahoo.com wrote me to tell me that he was interested, he told me that he is a petroleum engineer and he was in brazil for the next 13 weeks and that he wanted to buy it for his daughter.
He wanted to pay me by paypal, I told him I didn´t have an account and he invited me to open one because it is a very secure way to do a transaction. I did it and after I gave him my email of my paypal account he sent me an e-mail saying that he contacted the shipping company and it would cost 2, 000. That seemed to weird for me, if his daughter lives in Guadalajara (Mexico, where I´m from) why is he contacting a foreigner company? and if his daughter lives somewhere in the United States why is he buying something in Mexico? With the price of my fridge and the shipping cost he could buy a new fridge in his country.
Well i did a research and found this...
The "shipping company" contacted me from info@auto-transportshipping.com and wrote me this (I hope you understand spanish):
Querido Marce Lita,

Gracias,

Lisa Xavier.

I was contacted by a "Cicilia Wright" regarding a dresser that I had for sale via Craigslist. This inquiry followed the same scheme as above; they want your address and a "shipping company" will contact you to arrange pick up. Whe I asked for a phone number to discuss details, I recieved the same response that everyone else has recieved "payment would be made via PayPal and pickup arrangements would be made via the shipping company". Obviously I was cautious and inquired where they were located. I was provided with "I live in Tom Berl, 50 Collingwood Dr., Rochester, NY 14621", which ironically enough is a real address in New York.

I discontinued conversations with this person after the additional research and flagged it as a scam. Don't fall prey and do your research; if you think it is a scam it probably is.

Wow thank you all for these posts I met a guy on here his name was Elvis Luther and he wanted to buy some of my paintings but I just felt it was not right. He said a lot of strange things to me that did not make sense like he had no access to a phone and he was not home right now. He wanted me to send it thru pay pal and give him my address. Yeah right ok buddy I don't know you and I'm going to do that not on a good day. This is terrible what they are trying to do to people. I guess I will have to find a new way to sell my paintings if anyone knows a different way let me know thank you all for your input and have a blessed day. :)

Some lady by the name of Jenny Scott mrkscott@gmail.com wrote the same emails as Anonymous1123 received from May 2012 post from April 8 - April12, 2013 when I was selling a item on Craigslist. Red flags popped up everywhere. She or He was trying to get me to send $450 to a fake shipping company while her "pmt was on hold" with Paypal and I would get the money back when Paypal release the funds. They never hold the funds. I had all the emails traced. I asked for her address and I would deliver it and she gave me 2455 Lexus Drive Colorado Springs CO They use a variation of the street numbers.Anytime you get an email from Paypal, THEY ALWAYS ADDRESS YOU BY YOUR NAME NOT YOUR EMAIL ADDY. THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW IF THEY PHISHING EMAILS. IF YOU HAVE GIVEN THEM YOUR EMAIL FOR YOUR PAYPAL, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD ASAP!

"Thanks for the prompt mail, i would have love to call you but due to my disability, i will not be able to do that. I live in Cumberland, RI. got the same mail...i got aleast 5 of these emails all from different names offering way more money than i asked and asking us to ship to usa or nigeria..by the way i was selling a phone for rs.14000 and they offered rs.20000

Thanks for the prompt mail, Rs14, 000 is a very fair price and I will be happy to buy it but i will not be able to come and view it in your place because i I live in Tom Berl, 50 Collingwood Dr., Rochester, NY 14621...and i would have loved to call but at the moment i am on the sea..i work on the rig and we are not allowed to make calls from herebut you can send me a text on +[protected] and i will reply when i get your text because i am not in the United State right now. I will be paying you through Online Banking Transfer.I want this to be sent to my daughter as a surprised gift for on her graduation day and she schools in West Africa...Nigeria to be precise...kindly get back to me with your payment details and i will be adding an extra Rs6, 000 to the money i will be sending you to serve as the shipping charges for the item... Get back to me ASAP with your bank details so that i can go ahead with the payment and i will like you to use DHL courier service for the shipping...waiting for your reply
Best Regard

got same kind of email for stuff that I was selling on gumtree.com.au - Australia
What triggered to me was that person was buying stuff from AU and shipping it to UK at a cost of $550 shipping and then I needed to go to WesternUnion and pay up -like I'd do that...
However just to keep them interested I sent an email saying I'm happy to pay but don't have that kind of money on me..waiting to see what they comeup with now! :-)

Local sales - rely on cash on pickup
Ebay or other reputed sites - rely on paypal but makesure you have the money on your account and most importantly don't click someone elses email to get to PAYPAL..type your own.
