i purchased my wilshire home in 2008 and have had very bad excperience with the materials used in bulding my home. if u are planning on purchasing a wilshire home i recomend that you DONT! My roof is leaking and the wood railing on the stairs is cracking. The wood used in the front porch is chipping off and wilshire forgot to put a light switch in the master bed! I am very unhappy with this house and with the company alone! I promise that you will be very unpleased with your house. I warned you.

Do not buy from Wilshire Homes in New Braunfels. My wife and I recently put down 1K earnest money to secure a lot. We signed our contingency papers and proceeded to the design center to build our home on paper. The base of the home was 245K, what they fail to tell you is that once you get the design center (2 hours spent there), they will charge you for every single detail. Because what comes standard is not worth it. They give you bone stock colors and choices, so It forces you to upgrade to make an eye appealing home. We were staring at near 300k, AFTER THE FIRST MEETING, which there was scheduled to be 2 of them. There were 6 levels of details to choose from. We only picked level 2 items... We decided to go with chesmar homes because all of the upgrades we chose in Wilshire were standard with Chesmar, plus a fully sodded front and back yard with sprinkler system. Came up to 30k less than Wilshire. We tried to get our 1K back and the project manager said no because they had to pay the design center for us to be there. When we were at the design center we were told that if we went over our time that they had to charge us the STANDARD going rate of $75/hr to be there. How does 2 hours @ $75/hr equate to 1K?! I am stinking mad at the greed of Wilshire homes, my bad word of mouth will cost them a whole lot more than what they could of paid me back in earnest money. I would highly recommend not doing business with them, unless you want to pay out the nose for upgrades. Bad customer service, hard to get a hold of, does not care about your needs unless it fills their pockets! They will be very attentive until you decide not to build with them. Buyer beware.

Clearly we did not research enough on Wilshire Homes! The storm that came through Sept. 7th ripped off 20 shingles and my house is only 5 years old. We are the 2nd owners and thought the previous owners took very good care in our house. We had an inspection done and they said we had to hammer some of the 1st row shingles down (the perimiter of the house) but that everything else was ok. We called 2 different roofing companies and they came out to estimate the damage, they both said between $650 and $900. Both companies said the construction company did NOT put the shingles on properly. There was no overlay of felt(?) and that they were surprised it lasted this long. I then called the San Antonio office to complain NUMEROUS times and the lady emailed us back twice saying it must be the manufacturer and I need to contact them. I even left a message for her boss to call us back but he never has. This company has horrible sutomer service! Plus everytime I try and call I never get a person it's always voice mail..there's never any employees in there office. I will NEVER buy Wilshire again! In this area you can buy a solid home for $160k..we spent $205k thinking we were getting a deal..lesson learned on first time homebuyer!

We purchased our Wilshire home at The Estate at Lookout Canyon in San Antonio. The construction was the worst. Basic home was $247, 000.00 and we added $50, 000.00 worth of improvements. We had so many complaints about the constructions and work not done, that we had our attorney write a nasty letter with a threatened lawsuit if not completed. We had two pages (single line) of items needed to be done or fixed. I surely will NOT recommend this builder in the future.
