My husband financed a car through Wells Fargo in December 2010. Up until our move in October, we paid more than the minimum monthly payment. In the upheaval of moving, we missed two months' payments, and without warning, Wells Fargo repossessed our car. We paid the fees and got it back, and part of the process was proof of insurance, which we faxed to them with the rest of the paperwork. A couple months later we noticed our minimum balance was a lot higher than normal, and we called to find out why. Wells Fargo told us we had been put on their insurance plan. We told them to drop that immediately, put any money we had paid on this insurance plan towards our overall balance, and faxed them yet another copy of our insurance. A month later, they repossessed our car on the claim that we owed almost $1, 000 for failing to pay insurance fees that were fraudulently added to our balance in the first place. Both repossessions were done in the dead of night (I leave for work at 4:30 in the morning and the car was already gone) with absolutely no warning or notice, or any cooperation afterwards. We are thoroughly disgusted by the filthy business practices in effect by Wells Fargo, as well as the complete lack of customer service.

I've had my car loan with Wells Fargo Dealer Services for only a few months and so far, I've had the WORST customer service experience. Everyone that answers is so rude and acts like I'm just a bothersome. It's extremely irritating.

Wells Fargo Dealer Services automatically set up two funds transfer without authorization. This has resulted in severe stress, in my opinion, this is equal to theft.

Average wait time was 12 min, multiple hang ups, rude and unprofessional conduct. Customer Service Representative (Tina) would not allow my recording of call when WFDS records the calls themselves.

Had automatic payment of $500 monthly to withdraw from my bank, final payment owed was $286 but they withdrew the $500. I was told it would take 2 weeks to get a refund. They stole my money and I have to wait?!?

I have just had a similar problem. I switched insurance companies in January 2014. I received a letter from WFDS stating that I did not have insurance. I called my insurance company and had them send a letter. I then got a bill that they were adding their own insurance onto my loan. I called my insurance company again and they mailed the insurance information to them. My payments are all current. They seized my truck last night while my 17 year old son was using it and left him and his 14 year old sister stranded 45 minutes from me. I have never had a lapse in coverage. When I called this morning to resolve the issue, was met with the runaround and rude employees. Even though I have attempted to provide them with proof that I have had insurance, they refused to accept email or a fax from me. Then they said they verified my insurance but still refuse to resolve this so that I can get my truck back. I have been on the phone with them since 8 am and am no further. They first said they contacted my insurance company and credited my account over $800 however it would take 3 to 5 business days to process this and I could not get my truck back until it was completely processed. They now won't even give me a dollar amount so that I could have paid it and gotten back my vehicle today or tell me what the rest of the amount they have charged to my account is for. I am going to try to contact an attorney as every time I call them I get a different story and constant contradictions and game playing. I will never have another loan with them again!

Bought a car in Feb 2014. During purchase, I provided the dealer with my insurance policy for the "loan paperwork" package.
Purchased the car Friday evening and called my insurance on Monday to add the new vehicle, which they did. Told my insurance company the lien holder was Wells Fargo. Our first payment was due April 1st, which we made. In May, I received a notice from WFDS that they were going to add insurance on to our account.
I make my monthly payments at my local Wells Fargo Branch. For the May payment, I also brought my updated insurance policy with me to the branch. The updated policy now had the new vehicle listed, all of it's information and the coverage amounts, which is a full coverage policy. I showed the teller the WFDS insurance notice and asked her if she could fax the updated policy to their insurance department. She contacted the manager and the manager said it wasn't a problem.
I made my monthly payment and waited for her to fax the insurance documents and return them to me. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I asked if the fax had been sent and it was. The manager retrieved my insurance documents AND the fax transmission showing they had successfully been faxed AND received by WFDS Insurance Department.
I continued making my monthly payments until WFDS had my car repossessed last week. Upon contacting WFDS, they did NOT know my car had been picked up. I asked to speak with whomever was in charge of the account and was transferred to their collections department. They said the car had been picked up because we did NOT have insurance on the car? I explained to Lydia about them receiving the updated fax'd policy in May and she stated they never received a fax.
The next call to WFDS ended up with them stating they had in fact received the fax'd policy, but someone "on their end" forgot to adjust my account. Then they said a date was missing from the fax, after they realized they should NOT have picked up the car.

I told them I had copies of the fax transmission and they changed it from not missing a date, to, we can't accept a fax copy of your policy. Then they asked me to have my insurance company FAX them directly, which I also did. Makes a lot of sense, right?
Then they took several DAYS to adjust (remove their insurance) my account and now want me to pay all of the costs associated to their illegal repossession game to get my car back. My account is currently in reinstatement and they are wanting almost $1200 for the car now, even though it was THEIR fault for adding unnecessary insurance to my account.
I have also filed several complaints with BBB and consumer protection groups. This is the 2nd loan we have had with WF and will NEVER do again. I have been with them for almost 30 years now and this was the last straw. I am changing banks and will attempt to see if we can get our car back without being robbed blind by them. They truly are a predator lender and please bank or loan with someone else.

You might want to check your mail more carefully, they're required by law to warn you in a letter before they repo your car. First, though, dump your insurance company. How hard can it be to tell a lien-holder that someone is insured?

I have no Idea who you are but I pay my bills on time and in a timely manner the only thing I failed to do is sign up for on line access so I could see things happen as they occur, not after the fact. I have posted my opinion if is in not well received then idk.

These people are complete idiots check out my post!. They will take every advantage they can and run with it, I would never recommend these people to anyone, Id suggest doing what I did and turn in a complaint to the security and exchange commission, maybe with complaints they will sanction Wells fargo!
