Wells Fargo Bank Complaints - Overdraft fees

Overdraft fees
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 5 votes
Company information:
Wells Fargo Bank
Des Moines, Iowa
United States

I recently made a mistake on my checking account, and forgot about an automatic payment which came through last, out of 5 charges. The auto payment was paid first, and my last 4 charges were then charged overdraft fees. I began to do some checking, and I discoverved that all charges go through from largest to smallest, thus causing more overdraft fees when one item doesn't clear. This type of "accounting' only effects those of us who live paycheck to paycheck, and those of us who are on a fixed income like seniors and those on SSDI, and those who have recently been laid off, the poorest of the population.

I also discovered that on the actual written statements the charges are in proper order, different from what you would see on the online statement. The reason for this may be that mail fraud is more severe then internet fraud. The bank may be covering it's own butt. (that's just my guess) Also it would make their questionable accounting practices harder to detect by those who are afraid to do their banking online, (ie. seniors).

I'm looking for people interested in a class action suit. It was our tax money that just recently bailed out their sorry butts, and now they are using our overdraft fees to pay us back. I have started a campain to get the word out. I have started writing business magazine reporters, and reporters of local newspapers. I have emailed CNN News, and others. I need help telling as many people as possible. I NEED your help!! start gathering evidence from your own accounts. Make copies of your online statements. Save your monthly bank statements. Write to your congressmen and demand an investigation.

We are in a time when the banks no longer have Republican freinds in high places, and banks are under serious scrutiny. We can win this and get our money back, if we just stand up and fight. If you won't do it for yourselves do it for the 1, 000's of unsuspecting seniors living off their monthly SS checks.

all banks do this, it happened to me about 6 months ago that is when I relalized banks are not my friends. I cancelled all but one account and I do vary little banking anymore, I take advantage of them when ever I get the chance, before they get to me because they surely will if they get the chance. Banks are a business. I hate to tell you this, but we're ALL on fixed incomes. I make the same next week as I made this week.

Be better managing your money. Your kind of "accounting" is what got you in your mess. If you can't afford it, don't buy it and your account won't bounce. Amazing!

I see you take a swipe at Republicans too. You come across as a typical Democrat. You want to sue, get something for free, and your inability to manage money is someone else's fault. Maybe do a little research on what caused the financial meltdown. I'll give you little hint on keywords: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Community Investment Act, Barney Frank, Democrats.

Hey Tyketto,

I'm NOT looking for something for nothing. I made one mistake and paid 4 times for it. This type of practice effects only those of us who have been hit the hardest by the economy. I have had a cut in pay to keep my job, because of the economy. Those who make enough to actually have a savings account and a checking will never be bothered by this.

And it sounds like you must be a republican, turning a blind to injustices by big business... to hell with the widows, orphans, single mothers, seniors, and those handicapped, struggling to live on SSDI.

I AGREE, WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I CHECK OUR BALANCE ON THE WEBSITE, WE USE WHAT IS ONLY IN OUR BALANCE. WE BASICALLY LIVE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME OUR BANK SAID "OH YOU HAVE TO USE DEBIT IN ORDER FOR YOUR TRANSACTION TO COME DIRECTLY OUT OF YOU'RE ACCOUNT. SO WE DID, A ND THE SECOND TIME WE OVER DRAFTED, THE BANK JUST SAID WE'LL LOOK INTO THIS AND GIVE YOU A CALL BACK...NOTHING! SO NOW THIS IS THE THIRD TIME WITH 3 $35.OO OVER DRAFT FEES, AND WE ARE TIRED OF IT. THINGS WILL SHOW THAT THEY ARE PENDING, BUT I HAVE ASKED OUR BANK IF WHAT IS STILL PENDING WILL BE TAKEN OUT AT A LATER TIME, AND THEY SAY NO. WE JUST NEED TO SWITCH BANKS

We can write all day or do something about it. The accounting practices of banks has gone by the way side. I plan to give it a GIANT PlATFORM. I plan on taking legal action on Wells Fargo.

Elliott, If you plan on getting an attorney and filing a class action, I would also be willing to act as a class representative (i.e., plaintiff) from California. Let me know if you do: lawhah@yahoo.com
