Overdraft fees
Complaint Rating:
Company information: Wells Fargo Bank Des Moines, Iowa United States
I recently made a mistake on my checking account, and forgot about an automatic payment which came through last, out of 5 charges. The auto payment was paid first, and my last 4 charges were then charged overdraft fees. I began to do some checking, and I discoverved that all charges go through from largest to smallest, thus causing more overdraft fees when one item doesn't clear. This type of "accounting' only effects those of us who live paycheck to paycheck, and those of us who are on a fixed income like seniors and those on SSDI, and those who have recently been laid off, the poorest of the population.
I also discovered that on the actual written statements the charges are in proper order, different from what you would see on the online statement. The reason for this may be that mail fraud is more severe then internet fraud. The bank may be covering it's own butt. (that's just my guess) Also it would make their questionable accounting practices harder to detect by those who are afraid to do their banking online, (ie. seniors).
I'm looking for people interested in a class action suit. It was our tax money that just recently bailed out their sorry butts, and now they are using our overdraft fees to pay us back. I have started a campain to get the word out. I have started writing business magazine reporters, and reporters of local newspapers. I have emailed CNN News, and others. I need help telling as many people as possible. I NEED your help!! start gathering evidence from your own accounts. Make copies of your online statements. Save your monthly bank statements. Write to your congressmen and demand an investigation.
We are in a time when the banks no longer have Republican freinds in high places, and banks are under serious scrutiny. We can win this and get our money back, if we just stand up and fight. If you won't do it for yourselves do it for the 1, 000's of unsuspecting seniors living off their monthly SS checks.
