Walmart TLE is scamming every customer as we speak. You pay for a Fram filter they place a COR filter on your car...Yes made by fram but to the Walmart Supertech standard. This is serious violation of trust. The Walmart TLE website explains in detail the importance of choosing a quality filter...then they place the worst cardboard filter made "Supertech" on your car. If you had your oil changed at Walmart go outside look under the hood if you notice a totally black filter they got you! Now search the Part # it will be COR#####TLE you will not find any information. They keep it top secret. Walmart pays less than $.50 for theses and in truth it would be better to have no filter than to use cardboard. I have no ideal why this isn't in the news?

Again your told your getting a Fram filter (fiberglass) they install a COR generic Walmart (supertech type) filter.

Fram is Orange with a Black grip. These are all black.

Didn't bother finishing the read. They ARE Fram filters. Super tech is not the same filter. They are labeled Core because there are so many filters with the exact same sizings. They reduced the base filters needed, for example the 7317, 6607, and 9688 all have the same thread and gasket set up. They discontinued the 7317 for shop use. Instead the 6607 is used, and the 9688 is also used. There are several others that have been discontinued for the same reason. When they discontinue filters, they choose the superior filter, ie capacity, bypass valves, bleed back. This article is nothing but an opinion piece based off of feelings and misinformation.

All these negative comments. Can at least one of you learn how to spell. You may get your point across better. If you don't sound like an idiot. Also the Fram Core filter is orange not black. So do some research before you talk out your ads. All service shops like Jiffy Lube, Wal-Mart, kwik Kat, etc. Use off brand filters it's good business. If you don't like it stop being lazy and do it yourself.

I totally agree Louis, but they're not really "off brand" filters. They're "contract" filters. Q-Lube/Jiffy Lube filters I believe are made by Purolator. At least, that's what they look like on the inside. I use Purolator L20195 and it looks exactly like the QS3600 on the inside. A lot of "shop" filters are actually made by big filter companies. Champion, FRAM, Wix, and Purolator all make "shop" filters. Even companies like BMW, VW, Mini (brands I'm familiar with) use big filter company filters. Those three makes use MANN-Hummel filters re-branded with thier logos on the box. Even NAPA filters are made by Champion, Wix, and Purolator. Walmart's TLE filters (not Super Tech) are made by FRAM to Extra Guard specs.

I am not happy.
I took my 2008 Taurus to a Frederick, Maryland Walmart last winter for a top dollar, full synthetic oil change.
I don't drive the car very much, so I just now got to the 7, 500 miles that the Walmart windshield sticker recommended for my next oil change.
I got under the car to change my oil and was immediately concerned.
The oil drain plug was severely over torqued.
The oil filter was obviously smaller than what I normally put on the vehicle. (Mobil1 synthetic and filter, or Fram extra guard)
It was a Fram Core COR3614 TLE. Now that I have researched it, I see I had good reason to be concerned.
Not wonder my engine had been ticking. The COR3614 TLE
1) is not intended for my engine
2) is not intended for synthetic oil
3) is not intended to last for 7k+miles.
I paid for their top oil change service and told them not to bother vacuuming the vehicle or their other BS "services" - I had already topped off my fluids.
The least they could do is give me the oil i paid for and a filter that is appropriate for that oil and for my vehicle.
Walmart Frederick Oil and Tire Center is a freaking joke.
Once i paid them extra to put in the Mobil1 off the shelf and I watched the guy pull the Penzoil hose down and fill it up. I had them change it again. Give me what I pay for! One clown wa talkign trash about premium oils and filters. Clearly he did not have the customer's wishes or best interests in mind.
You have to
1) know what you're doing and what exactly you want, and
2) watch them like a hawk!
What's worse about the whole thing is that they put paint on the drain plug and filter so they would "Know if I had changed it myself".
Ha! What a joke. They did more to ruin my engine then anything I've ever done. As if I would do anything to void my warranty.
IDIOTS !

As moepoe indicated, WalMart has now upped the deception by using solid orange colored Fram CORTLE filters. These look like more what one would expect from a Fram filter. I didn't know anything about any of this until, after getting an oil and lube at Walmart TLE, I started smelling smoke. Looked under the car and it was full of dripping oil. Went to a trusted mechanic who found that, not only did Walmart use a CorTLE filter, but they used the WRONG filter, explaining the leak. I must have been crazy to trust Walmart. Never again.

I have just had my oil changed on my 2005 Ford V6 Explorer at Walmart which advertised Castrol synthetic motor oil change with a Fram ultra filter. After I got home I found I had a solid orange Fram filter model number COR2TLE half the size of my original...I could not find that part number on the Fram site or anything about it...I call Frams 800 number and the tech told me that the filter I have is made for Wal Mart oil changes only...but he said it will be ok up to 5000 miles of filtration., but suggested next time to have them put on a ultra 99% filtration Fram on it that's good for 15000 miles and charge me the difference . Sad to have to ask for the filter they advertised with the oil change to be put on your car at extra cost.

They put in a core3600tle in my wife's van. That's half the size of the original filter. Also they changed the drain plug from standard thread to metric. Mechanics? I don't think so!

My experiences match the negative one about. Now I got a TLE filter running with synthetic oil. I had so many over fills I now watch then fill and have had them suck out oil rather than have to bring back foamy oil... They also went to bulk synthetic oil rather than the 5 gallon jug they used to pour from.
Last time they looked at my fuzes and left the lid unattached; found it when I got home. Once they replace the air filter and left the cover hinges detached resulting in a bad seal with the following concerns: 1) Unfiltered air getting into the combustion chambers 2) Air mass flow not functioning as designed and resulting in crappy engine performance. So sorry I have been using Walmart. One of my cars will not clear going up the car ramps so need a garage to do it. I have made my last trip to Walmart. Wish my local Costco still did oil changes. BTW, Walmart online pickup also sucks. Employees working there ALWAYS have problems finding my order or scanning it in or something. I plan on spending 20-30 minutes picking up a single order.

Total piece of bull-hockey...
I guess if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself. I've been bent over every time I have tried Walmart TLE.

I purchased a 04 Dakota 3.7 v-6 about a year and a half ago and was sending it to Walmart. I decided to do it myself this time and I noticed a fram core 3614 half the size and said the fram core 3614 does not belong on my vehicle. Is my vehicle fine or no

I too just found a COR 3614 filter on my Escort.
It went 7500 miles. I cut it open and found it black but not sludgy, media was stout, anti drainback valve did its job, i'd say it's well made. (Will post photos when it's daylight and i can take some.)
And - it's marked "Made in USA".

Lots of internet hooey out there. Look at several filters cut away here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsQ2LbHGSy0

If your filter doesn't get dirty it's not removing dirt from the oil.
if it gets sludged up it means you have neglected your engine .

A mechanical engineer friend of mine while in engineering school had a summer job testing for Fram.
He hammered grinding wheels into powder and poured it into engines running on a test stand.
They measured how much of the abrasive the filter caught and examined the engine bearings after several hundred hours.
He was amazed how well the filters did their job . The engines weren't hurt.
Now it's forty years later and he still won't use anything but a Fram. Neither will I. Anybody who tests to that degree is, in my book, top notch.

If Fram's accountants can sell filters to Walmart with no marketing charges applied - that helps us all ..

I too had the oil changed and they put a Fram Core filter on my Ford. I called FRAM Tech Services and they said that the Cor filters are made for Walmart under contract. They are made to Extraguard specs in every way except size and color. So basically its the old orange and black filter they've been making for decades. They made a business arrangement with WM. That's all. They are NOT made to Walmart Super Tech sepcs as some poster said. They are designed to go for about 5, ooo miles with conventional or synth blend oil. They're great filters for people who do not need super high quality or synthetic oil filters. As you probably know, they will put any filter on that you are willing to pay for. They just deduct 2 bucks for the CORE filter. They even put the one I brought from home one time, but they didn't give me the 2 bucks off though. Fine with me because the Pit Crew change is reasonable enough already.

Good news to hear I thought I was the only one disappointed in wall mart. My wife takes her car regularly.. The last time the oil screw wasn't tight enough. This time I took the car.. For a oil change.. I check the oil and it was kind of black.. It seemed as if they just added a few quarts...
I took my truck for a basic oil change and the lady charged me for a extra quart of oil without asking me first... I just done... I'll do the service on my card and trucks... Out buy the stuff and have a shade tree .. Do it.
I DO NOT TRUST WALMART... CAST DEPARTMENT.!

this just happened to me. LOL wow! I am changing the oil in my mother in laws car right now, ( draining) I pulled the filter and looked because I spent probably ten minutes in the store hemming and hawing about what filter would be best. She wanted me to change the oil this tme becuase last time she paid for the oil change she and my wife were watching and they pulled the old " run a suction tube down the dip stick pipe" trick. they just pumped it out and refilled it. I asked them did anyone pull the filter? they said No, the guy just pumped the oil out and then put new oil in from a big barrel and we were on our way. I looked at the receipt and it said full oil change filter was on the list. 3000 miles before that they too it to wal mart and they did change the filter. to a all black fram COR.

I took my 2000 Eldorado in for an oil change and that was the last trip my car every took, except straight to my mechanic, who told me the engine was shot. They over filled it and used one of their cheep filter. Contacted their Claims Department and of course they said they didn't do anything wrong. Now I'm without a car.

This filter they are using does not have a check valve in it or if it does it does not work and 99 percent of American cars require a check valve, I recently removed the cheap COR16TLE from my Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L and put on a PH16 fram filter and solved a lifter tick the engine has had since walmart put the cheapo on my truck and my oil pressure has returned to normal.
We are Trusting that when they change our oil, they will use proper filters that are meant to be on our engines and not void our warrenty as these filters are not built to the vehicle manufacturers standards.
I personaly will never again use this service and may just stop using walmat for anything I purchase in the future. There is always Amazon and they sell most everything walmart does and often cheaper.

I had been going to WalMart for vehicle service and ended up with an expensive repair bill on a rear differential. My mechanic who discovered it said there was no way WalMart had been checking the grease in it & there was barely enough in it to lubricate the gears, however there was not enough to lube the bearings & seals. Their claim department is a total joke. So today I decided to change oil at home and discovered this off-brand looking Fram-labeled oil filter. I recognized right away it was not the PF2 filter that should have been on the engine & looked for it on Google & found this site. Also the correct PF2 filter was hard to install as the previous "service" by WalMart had left the threads goobered up. Also on the last oil change they didn't get the hood latched properly and it came up about a mile away from the store. I guess if you can breath you can be a WalMart grease monkey. RE: the rear differential issue; they refused to offer any kind of reimbursement because" we didn't retain video of the tech doing the service and cannot verify if he did or did not check fluids in the rear differential." Alright, that's OK, I will just spend the rest of my days telling everyone I know that WlaMart service sucks & explain why.

you are not paying for a fram filter you are paying for a service part of which includes a fram core filter, if you choose an off the shelf filter (fram, purolator, bosch, ac delco, motorcraft, mopar, etc) you will be charged the retail price of that filter minus the $2.09 for the core filter that wasn't used, same as if you brought in your own filter

it is not a scam it is a business deal between fram and walmart to supply TLEs with a selection of inexpensive filters (which i can tell you are at a much smaller markup than you suggest) that they can use in their shops
