Walgreens customer waiting

I go to Walgreens at the very least, 5 times a week. I go to the same Walgreens because the staff is fabulous, the store is clean, and it's 5 minutes from my front door. I went today and I literally walked a few feet from the front door to the register and waited. I waited for approximately 3-4 minutes and I'm not trying to exaggerate. I waited, and waited, becoming more annoyed with each second. Finally, an associate came to the register and apologized for my wait. I was so annoyed, I didn't even acknowledge he said anything.

Today's incident was the second incident like this in just just a few months, which occurred at Walgreens. I know that if I had that many employees in one building, no customer would ever enter the premises without being greeted immediately, barring emergencies of course.

This complaint is not meant to be critical of your employees, because dealing with the public is a real pain in the @$$, I know this. Just sayin...

Okay Mellen, perhaps I could have included EVERYTHING in my Complaint. But, because none of that information matters to my Complaint, I did not. To make assumptions that I am the smoker, that I am purchasing cigarettes for my underage brother, for a person who may or may not have been in the car with us, is totally moot. One poster even asked if I expected the employees of Walgreens to anticipate my visit. HELL YES they should. They are a business IN the business of keeping their doors open with the anticipation of customers entering their premises. With that said, I'm done answering questions with answers that are irrelevent to you, the reader.

Update by Baciamicaro
Jan 07, 2011 3:52 pm EST

JDH: You are correct; the cigarettes were for an elderly neighbor and it is not my right to judge (even though I don't smoke) why he was smoking. I'm going to address that right now before I get bashed for buying cigarettes for an elderly neighbor.

Mellen: There is no mention of a third occupant in the vehicle because there was no third occupant.

So through all this speculation, insults and attacks against my judgment have yielded nothing except my curiousity as to why people are so brutal to someone they don't even know. You can get the same point across to someone without trying to belittle them. OKAY, I GET IT! I'LL DO A SHOUT OUT THE NEXT TIME I CAN'T FIND AN ASSOCIATE TO HELP ME AT THE CASH REGISTER BY THE DOOR.

JDH, it's kind of hard to keep up with all these posts. Yes, that's basically the gist of it. They weren't for me either.

No Walgreens still sells cigarettes.

Update by Baciamicaro
Jan 07, 2011 4:42 am EST

There is nothing in my posts which even suggest that I was purchasing cigarettes for my minor brother. Seriously, why does it matter who the cigs were for? Isn't that a little off point? Aren't you supposed to be bashing me some more instead of worrying about my alleged contribution to a delinquency of a minor.

Update by Baciamicaro
Jan 06, 2011 11:13 pm EST

While I respectfully value most of your opinions, I've noticed one common theme. The theme in most of the posts is to insult me. I'd appreciate your view more, however if they were given more intelligently and constructively. Brenda, you were the first one to insult me, and I shot back. The rest of you had to chime in, not about Walgreens, but me. Personal attacks about my intelligence and behavior are unwarranted, as I didn't ask for your help in a resolution to my experience or your hurtful opinions. This is a complaint board; so far, I'm the only person who has used it for its intended use. I didn't feel I had to say in my complaint, that the cigarettes were not for me. I also didn't want to explain that my leg was in a cast and walking was awkward for me, and because my brother is underage, I had to go in.

I didn't speak to the associate when he apologized to me, because I knew there was a possibility of me being verbally ### to him, and I felt he didn't deserve it. I also didn't say anything to him as he was chewing food and wiping his chin, because I'm not a dolt and I do understand cashiers also do other things when the store is not busy.

So, in the 3-4 minutes that I peered down 3 aisles from where I was standing, and the photo center, I didn't see a customer, or an associate. Then a man whom I believed to be the Pharmacist walked in, stared at me and went to the back of the store. Shortly thereafter, the associate came to the register.

With all that being said, I truly appreciate the time you all took out of your day in order to try to intimidate, insult and well, I don't know what other emotion you are trying to evoke. YOUR behavior is uncalled for and very unkind.

Wow, I think you all now hold the title of internet bully. Congrats!

I can tell by your intolerance for other’s opinions and lack of empathy, that even trying to conduct an intelligent discussion with you, would be a total waste of my time. I find your judgmental and arrogant manner in communicating with me, to be very offensive. IT'S A CHECK OUT REGISTER...SOMEONE SHOULD BE THERE TO CHECK OUT CUSTOMERS.

However, I did chuckle at your “straw” comment, so I guess you do serve some sort of purpose.

Update by Baciamicaro

Well seeing as though I was there to buy a pack of smokes and the smokes are at the register by the door, I guess you're the one being a pain in the @$$ right now. So, I guess in your infinite wisdom, you'd walk the whole store to find a willing employee and end up right where THEY were supposed to be. You probably work at THAT Walgreens. Maybe ask to know the entire story before you try to insult a person who you don't know. You're welcome!

If an employee can go to work and not strangle a customer in retail or food they are admirable. Especially with all the people that feel the need to ### and every petty detail in their despicable life. Which yours obviously is. "OH MY GOD, I had to wait up here for a couple minutes to ring up and this is the SECOND occurrence in 2 WHOLE months. I may decide to go elsewhere." You know what the employee is thinking? "Jesus I don't know how I can afford my rent this month, my car's breaking down, my kid is at home sick, the manager won't stop harping on me to finish the ad tags while were slow because Trisha called in...And I'm apparently responsible for every god damned thing in this store. This ### customer won't respond to me after I nicely said, 'I'm sorry for your wait.' and smiled when I feel like I'm about to scream." Admirable quality. You forget the "cashiers" are people to. Just because they're in the lowest job of this economy at least they have a ###ing job and aren't sponging off Ma and Pa but people like you need to harp about every imperfection because your retired and have nothing better to do, I guess.

Get a life.

I agree, I know that when I worked the register at a pharmacy we were told that when we were not busy we could not stand at the register doing nothing. We were supposed to go and stock or straighten the shelves or find some other busy work to do, and check the register every couple of minutes or so to see if someone was waiting and to apologize if they were. The fact that you ignored this person for doing their job is very disturbing to me, you should have at least maybe called out to see if anyone was around if you didn't want to walk around.

I don't care what store you go into, you should never have to hunt down an employee to check out. We have a Walgreen's close by, at least 1 trip/wk, and even with 7-8 employees, there are times I have to find someone to check out - most are putting stock on shelves. So what if they're busy putting stock away or helping someone else, there should always be someone @ a register. Making these insults personal is stupid, stick to the business points. Our local Rite Aid store is about the same size and usu 3-4 employees, I never have to hunt someone down.
On the other hand, let's bring the "ugly" language down a bit.

Walgreens prescription mail-order

Absolute joke. Dealing with Walgreens mail order service has been a nightmare. Sent prescription and registration information in over a month ago with credit card information. Was willing to pay an arm and leg for two day shipping. After 2 weeks with no prescription contacted the customer service line to find there was no order on file for me. After waiting for a representative, I was made aware that my order was "canceled at my request", which I never did. After prying the representative and a ten-minute hold she told me it was canceled because the incompetent employees of Walgreens entered in my insurance information incorrectly. After a 30 minute phone call, I was assured the prescription would be sent out express that day at no-charge to me. Instead I got a reassuring voicemail from a Walgreens representative 3 days later saying they need my "uh...uh...credit ca...insurance information". I gave my insurance information to Walgreens 5 times! Every representative I spoke to, which ended up being about 7 including supervisors, was absolutely incompetent. No one could ever guarantee anything. The lottery probably has better odds than getting a prescription successfully filled by these idiots. BUYER BEWARE! Stay away from Walgreens. Final resolution is that they are sending my prescription back to me. And there is a very slim chance that they'll get that right!

Walgreens cause 2 seizures now for me.

Multiple months in a row. Medications have been from 5 to 14 days late. (Literally).

I've spoken with them of my concerns, told them this isn't like an amazon order... It effects my health. Only to call back and find no record of the call and that the shipment still hasn't gone out.

I'm afraid that they will send me to the hospital.

This can NEVER happen again. (I've told them that 12 times over the past 4 months.) It appears they are getting the message.

The system is severely broken and needs to be looked at by some agency.

My insurance forced me to switch my prescription mail service from PPS (Postal Prescription Service) to Walgreens mail service. It has now been 4 months and MANY emails and phone calls later and things are STILL not right. I've had to bother my MD twice to redo prescriptions. I thought it was all finally settled except for one prescription. In February they asked for a confirmation due to a high co-pay. I have had this prescription for several years and it is pricey and incurance doesn't pay anything on it. I thought that was nice that they would check that I really wanted to pay $200. I confirmed that yes I wanted it. I never received it but did get another confirmation request. When I called to say "yes" please send, I was told that it would be more than $700.! I asked them to double check since their OWN email had said a little over $200. She got VERY snippy with me when I asked her to double check. A quick call to my previous prescription service confirmed that it would be less than $200. If you have a choice NEVER NEVER use Walgreens mail service! It has been nothing but frustration. I can apply for medicare in a few more months and can't wait to change my prescription service to one that my husband has had NO PROBLEMS with.

My Insurance requested that I use Walgreen's mail order and it has been a nightmare from day one. I ordered a 90 day supply and received 30 day. Was told that I only had a prescription for 30. Yet even on the medication it said 5 refills left. This company is a joke, They then charged my credit card again for the remainder. IM still fighting them in regards to this problem. I will never use them again.

I recently moved to a very remote rural location and thought switching to Walgreens mail order pharmacy would be a great idea. In July, filled out the online form to transfer 3 prescriptions. I was emailed a confirmation number. In August, I went to fill those prescriptions and there was no record of them. I then spent over an hour on the phone and customer chat repeating my story, my prescription numbers and insurance info to different reps. 8 days later, no prescriptions in the mail, no history of orders in my on-line account. More phone calls, more time on hold, then received conflicting emails from different depts about what's going on (including a "shipment notification" when in reality, nothing has been sent). Submitted a complaint through their form which was not addressed in return email. Result: aggravation, waste of time, ran out of anti-inflams I need for my back, and now I'll be driving 6 hrs RT to the nearest Target pharmacy. Thank goodness I don't need meds for high blood pressure or heart problems! The icing on the cake is that the link they sent to customer satisfaction survey was broken.

Walgreens Mail Order Website was obviously programmed by the same incompetent fools. Nothing but trouble! It ranges from not properly remembering your password to not being able to update your credit card information. Pathetic!

You are so right about all you say. Especially about how incompetent they all are on the phone or online. I've had bad experiences with this outfit too. But no more! They obviously care not about their customers. I made the mistake of giving them my credit card number. I mailed them rxs and all were marked by the dr that a generic may be substituted not that a brand name should be sent in place of a generic. One was not available as a generic so without contacting me they sent a brand name at 7 times the unavailable generic. Of course they charged me for the brand name without contacting me about the super charges.

Walgreens you have been out of it for months

You people had an ad in the paper about an item like Tylenol Arthritis. The ad read that if you bought one/250/bottle that you would get onr free. Every time we have checked for months now you never have it for sale.

It seems pretty chincey to me that you advertise an item and then never have it for sale when you get there. TIME AFTER TIME WE HAVE GONE TO CHECK AND YOU NEVER HAVE IT. Please do what you advertise.

Walgreens ripped off on prescription

I noticed that Walgreens gave my mother a 30 day supply of Metoprolol ER Succinate 500 mg tablets, but charged her for a 90 day supply. The vial, which the pills were in couldn't possibly hold 90 tablets. When I showed the vial to the pharmacist, he actually tried fitting 90 tablets in it, but it was impossible. He basically told me that he'd look into the matter and blew me off. Since they charged my mother's insurance company for another 90 day supply, I'm going to file a complaint on her behalf with the State of New Jersey on the matter. I realize that people are human and make mistakes. However, since a national company like Walgreens fills people's prescriptions, they should have some kind of system implemented in place to avoid errors like this, but either they don't or their method of quality control filling prescriptions isn't up to snuff. If something like can happen, I'm wondering how many elderly people they rip off or kill a year with such incompetence.

Believe me, you are not the only person to have problems at Walgreens. I would highly encourage you to take your Moms prescriptions to another Pharmacy. Does not matter the problem you had with the Pharmacy, their HQ will not believe your side. Been there, done that! Sorry that you and your Mom has to go thru this with Walgreens. Run, don't walk, away from that Pharmacy!

Walgreens wrong drug rude personal

I was given a hep A vaccine for a child twice, and both times had to return some distance from the drug store to replace with correct drug. They told my doctor to just give me twice as much but he said NOOOO! Last time I was told it was my fault so I never received the vaccine.I have over 50 miles in this problem alone and my life could be in danger untill I recieve this vaccine...Then I Was told my doctor never called in a scrip refill, when I would call the doc he would assure me I was being run around by walgreens. The girl who waited on me was rude as always. I have been given the wrong drug several times and when you get home they will not return it so I had to pay again for the right drug! I could go on and on but just do not go thru this maddening situation and go to another pharmacy. Steer clear of the Walgreens on Gatlinand Savage and Port st Lucie and Tulip. They could kill you.

If you go to another pharmacy you will likely get the same results. Hep A vaccine brands Havrix and Vaqta can be used interchangeably in adults or children with 720 ELU (0.5ml) of Havrix or 25 U Vaqta being used in children - adult dose would be 1440 ELU (1ml) Havrix or 50u Vaqta. The pharmacy is right. The same vaccine is used in both adults and children, the dose is twice as much for adults as for children. Few doctors are familiar with all of the various vaccines there are available and who can blame them? There are so many varieties of combination products on the market now and some of these vaccines really are just formulated adults or children.

Walgreens international calling card

I purchased an international calling card for an upcoming trip. The instructions on the card state that you need to call a 1-800 number to set up the card prior to your international travel. I called the number and was told that the card was no valid in the country I was traveling to. No where on the card does it state all of the locations where it is valid, so there is no way to know until you purchase it, scratch off for the pin #, call in the # & get the info. Now that I've found out it's not valid, I of course asked if it was returnable, since I can't use it. The answer was "no". Sounds like a scam to me & I'm out $25. Very disapointed in this product & in Walgreens for their calling card.

Walgreens employee harrassment

The employees here are rude and i was told by a former employee of this store that she was harrassed to the point of quitting her job i have shopped in this store and had some of the worst experiences i have ever had in this store then i have ever had in an walgreens. I am very close to many employees in this store and have never ever heard of so much harrassment being gone in not just with the recent employee but many have quit due to certain woman and there awful remarks. One in specific i am not sure her name she is a short woman with curly hair and glasses i have heard some of the worst comments about other employees come out of this woman's mouth i do not think that women like this should be working with other people in what should be a pleasant work environment. I have also been told that even when brought to managements attention nothing has been resolved. This being a major point to to my problems here i would try and report my issue within the store to the upper authority but just assumed i would be wasting my time considering the employees don't even get there issues resolved. I think that something needs to be resolved in this location very soon or they may not have too many customers left before long.

This is what it is like to work as an assistant manager in some of the Walgreens stores...The manager says that he has paid his dues and therefore, he has paperwork to do and doesn't have time to help his assistants or to help customers. Assistants are not properly trained to perform the duties that you are expected to perform. When they fail to perform them correctly, they are punished. The manager is not interested in the personal situations of his assistants. Employees are afraid to ask for time off to care for sick family members or to attend school functions and meetings. The stores are understaffed during busy times. Managers are not given break or meal periods, therefore they most often go 9 - 10 hours without food. As yourself as a customer, if Walgreens doesn't care about there own employees, just how much do they care about their customers?

Walgreens prescription refill

I have been using Walgreens in St.Helens since they opened for prescriptions. This incident about pushed me over the edge...total lack of communication. Did refill of two prescriptions on the automated phone system=couple days prior to me needing the meds. Went thru drive thru to pick up and was told they could only fill one of my meds and they said I had to call CVS and gave me a phone number...now mind you that these meds are for a Thyroid issue and should not go without...did anyone call me when they got the request to refill? Bring it to my attention before I was out of the meds...?
I did call CVS and got it figured out but was so unhappy with the lack of service I got from the pharmacy that I will not be going back =my husband and I are switching our scripts to another pharmacy. No one tried to help or offer anything no explaination what so ever...Customer Service is a huge thing-and on that day the screwed up and Im done.

Walgreens rude manager

I always use my own bags when shopping. I put my stuff in them as I shop. This being the walgreens I use most, I went in 2 get 2 items and a manager from corporate proceeds to tell me I can not shop out of my bags. She comes and takes my bag from me and dumps my items in a cart and thennnnnn she tells me I can't have my bag back and that she will leave it with the cashier! I said no one anywhere I have ever shopped has told me I can't shop with my own bags much less take it from me and say I can't have it back until I leave. I told her to give me my bag back now and then I left. I told the cashier as I was leaving that I will not shop at walgreens again.

You should have put your items in a basket and then had the cashier put them in your bag. Putting items in a bag from home probably looks suspicious.

Walgreens lawsuit/ store contents

I just read about your lawsuit against Wegmans. I was in your Auburn, NY store today, and I had a hard time finding the Tylenol or store brand Arthritis pain formula. I finally gave up and decided to get it at Wegmans.

I think you should be more concerned about having a store that is easy to navigate, and has the products that people need, (rather than row after row of of unnecessary JUNK that seems to take up most of your store) and worry MUCH less about whether their "W" that they used in the earlier part of the last century, is too much like yours. I would think that it would much more important to concentrate on doing a better job, rather than filing frivolus lawsuits. I doubt that I will bother to go to any Walgreens until the suit is dropped . If you continue to pursue it, I will probably never darken your door again.

I am sorry that I can't seem to get the correct spelling for frivolus, but I am sure you can understand what I mean.

Sincerely, Bradley Pattington

Wow, I'm really surprised at your problems at Wallgreens. I am in Virginia and just moved here from Delaware where I also used Walgreens. I've always had good experiences there. I was in there today and came home and was telling my husband that the people who work for Walgreens are so nice. I actually felt good as I left the store. I had the same experiences in Delaware. I totally think that the attitude of we the customer, has lots to do with how the young workers in any store react to us. If they are out of something, for heavens sake, it's not the employees fault! Get a grip, be kinder to the people you come in contact with that ARE there to help you. I imagine you find problems in other stores also. Treat people well and they will respond in kind. No, I don't work for Walgreens. I am a retired social worker who does know people and people are first who they are and then who you can make them become. Yes they have a choice but most of these workers are young people trying to do a job. I leave you with this...Do unto others etc, etc, etc. If you don't know the rest of the quote you have a real problem.
Have a great day, Karen Lutes

Walgreens survey and $3000 sweepstakes

Not happy at all with Walgreens so-called survey and sweepstakes. One, I could not find anywhere online how to get into the survey. Two, I gave up and called the 800 number. I was able to input survey # and password #, but then could not take the survey because the automated survey-er said it didn't recognize the number. I said, "NINE" three times, plainly, clearly. Very annoying. This is the second occasion when I've tried and failed to do the survey and sweepstakes entry. This time I intend to follow up with Walgreens.

Walgreens accuses customer of theft

My wife has a regular prescription for a class C narcotic (the kind the DEA closely regulates). Due to the nature of the prescription, she has to pick up the prescription in person from the doctor and deliver it to a specific Walgreens pharmacy on a monthly basis. She's used to dealing with all the hassle of being prescribed a controlled substance

This month her prescription ran out a week early. She takes two pills per day. This afternoon (4pm CST on 26 October 2010), she noticed that she was 13 pills short of what she needed to finish this month. First, she spoke with the doctor, who predictably and correctly informed her that he could not prescribe a refill until the month was up, but suggested she speak with the pharmacy.

That's when the fun started. She immediately called the Walgreens pharmacy to ask what could be done in the situation. The pharmacist asked her if she lived alone. No, she replied, she's married. Well then, says the pharmacist, then you may want to check to see if someone else in your household is taking your medications. The pharmacist didn't even beat around the bush and ask if she miscounted, or if she was taking the pills more often than prescribed (she isn't - one in the morning, one in the evening, as directed).

Of course my wife responded that no one else is taking her pills (it's just the two of us, and I hate to even take ibuprofen). The pharmacist said that in his experience, people will deny that, and he could pretty much guarantee someone was taking her pills. My wife asked if it was possible they miscounted. No, they double check the count. The pharmacist ended the call by saying Walgreens couldn't have made a mistake, and suggested my wife deal with the person who is taking her pills.

This leaves us both livid at being accused of theft, but even worse, my wife does not have sufficient medication to regulate the pain caused by her rheumatoid arthritis. The medicine also has nasty withdrawal symptoms if a patient suddenly quits taking the prescribed dosage, such as when the pharmacy shorts the prescription and refuses to refill it.

A quick search on complaints.com turned up several instances of Walgreens shorting prescriptions on a regular basis, even those marked as double or triple counted. Obviously we will be counting the pills on the counter with the pharmacist watching before we leave in the future, assuming we even return to Walgreens.

The Walgreens location in question is store 4989 in Springfield, Missouri. Fortunately, my wife did also get the pharmacist's name and we've included that in our communication with Walgreens corporate.

Now the question is, what can we do? Its our word against theirs, but thanks to the stringent controls on the medication, the burden of proof is entirely on us. At best, we might get an apology for the baseless accusations against us.

I am on percocet on a daily basis due to back troule, and I agree with the other posters. I get 180 a month and take it 3 times a day, I can look at my bottle when I get it and automatically know how many are there. I can even look at it in the middle of the month and know what's in the bottle, ny husband didn't believe me and asked me for a count one day by looking at the bottle I told him and I was right. I also have 2 teenage boys in my house, and it's not that I don't trust my kids or my husband but I keep all of my meds in a locked safe that only I have the key to. There may only be the two of you in the house, but I am sure you have the occasional visitor to your house you have to watch where you keep them and who is around them. Unfortunately, you are right about it being your word against theirs and you probably won't get any resolve. I do understand the pain thing and I am sorry she had to go through that.

First of all, just cause someone has a college degree doesn't make them smart. Secondly, if you don't need the prescription yet, then hold onto to it ifyou are so afraid that the pharmacy would lose it. I've only had issues with a misplaced prescription once but that was cause something the doctor didn't do on the prescription. Don't just blame the pharmacy if you don't want to take responsibility for your own prescription to keep in a safe place for when you need it. My pharmacy use to have alot more people working there at one time and they were always swamped then but they seem to be always short handed so I'm amazed that they are able to handle the work load now. Just remember, the leaner the help the less they are able to handle. So if you can't wait for the pharmcay people to do their jobs then go elsewhere. There is probably a reasons issues happen with your scripts, be nicer to people and maybe you'll bet better treatment.

Walgreens bic multi-purpose lighter

openned the sunday (10/24/10) paper and the walgreens weekly ad that covered seven days -- 10/24 thru 10/30. went to walgreens sunday 10/24 around 5:00 p.m, a few hours after the sale started. I was told the last of those lighters on sale (coupon) were just sold!

this is a pet peeve of mine. A sale item, designed to bait people into the store for a week, is sold out in the first few hours! I'm no genious, but i think i'm probably not the only one that gets sour tastes in their mouths over this. I can somewhat understand running out a few days into the sale, but not a few hours.

two by the ways:

first, this walgreens seems to be understocked on sale items often.

second, your managers and assistant managers at this location are always very courtious and helpful. Especially the current ones. thank you very much for that.

I hope Walgreens real people read this so i haven't wasted my time.

sincerely, dave

THAT IS NOTHING UNUSUAL FOR WALGREENS! EVERYTIME I HAVE EVER SHOPPED THERE FOR AN ADVERTISED ITEM THEY ARE OUT OF IT...SO I STOPPED SHOPPING THERE. IN ADDITION MY MOTHER WORKED FOR WALGREENS FOR 15 YRS AND MADE 9.00 AN HOUR WHEN SHE LEFT, AND THEY TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES LIKE CRAP, JUST MY OPINION.

Walgreens pharmarcy dept

I'm writing a formal complaints on the pharmacy dept at Walgreens located at 6610 Tidwell Houston, Tx 77016 [protected]. The pharmacy staff is awful, when trying to reach them over the phone customer are left on hold for over 30 mins to hrs, while being tranfering back into the que. When a customer goes inside to pickup meds or have a consultion with pharmacy theres a long wait as well, the pharmacy techs has no idea what the hell they are doing, they are giving patients wrong meds, They are messing with people lives and don't even care. Just image if the patient are having problems getting thur, the doctor are having hard time as well, i know for a fact that my moms doctor could not get thru on friday, he had to wait until saturday morning before he was able to get thur to anyone, and the sad part about this i'm not the only person thats having this problem. I've spoke with number of people that live in that neighborhood that are experiencing the same problem. To me this is very very very poor customer service. I think someone in corporate should investigate and evaluate the pharmacy staff and running of the pharmacy dept. I have transfer to CVS were i'm very please with services i have been receiving.. The sad part is the people will continue to used that walgreens because of close to their homes and not aware that they are putting their own health at risk due to Walgreens pharmacy staff.

Sincerly,
displease ex- parton

Walgreens lack of consistency

We have dealt with our local Walgreens pharmacy for years. Our needs have been sporadic with occassional illnesses requiring prescription medications. However, in the past 5 years or so, our health situation has changed dramatically. We are ordering up to 10 different medications in any given month. Our Walgreens staff has been wonderful and we have made a personal connection and totally felt like our local staff cared about us. BUT, now the store seems to have turned into a training center. Each time we go in to do business, the staff has changed. There is no personal connection; mistakes have been made in either filling the prescriptions or with billing issues. We are asking ourselves if it is really worth it to stick by Walgreens. There are other pharmacies in town that seem smaller and perhaps would give us the small town caring atmosphere that once existed at our own Walgreens. One more chance is all you get...we can go elsewhere.

I would stop shopping at Walgreens. They are DRASTICALLY cutting their pharmacy hours and firing highly-qualified technicians left and right. Then they turn around and hire high school kids or old people for half the cost of the amazing technicians they just fired. This is leading to mistakes and horrible customer service.

Walgreens will be in the toilet with Rite Aid within the next 2 years, I guarantee it.

Walgreens misrepresentation poor management

After one problem was finally resolved that involved $1. 00 ink - jet cartridge refills, advertised at walgreens on "earth day"... Then other problems popped up. Some more serious.

That's the problem with walgreens. If you decide to shop there you can expect more problems arising from that one shopping experience. Their stores in san francisco, especially in the sunset district, cater to asians. The stores are managed and staffed by all asian. Isn't that discrimination? The asian employees treat all other customers rudely, they won't help you if they can get away with it.

The store managers are just as bad, they mismanage these stores to the point of stupidity. Don't dare voice a complaint because it will be you that's seen as the troublemaker. This is because walgreens is a deceptive corporation, there is no real customer service. They want customers to shop there and get out, if you don't like then don't come back.

There's no room for improvement at walgreens. Corporate is worse!

So... I tried getting the $1 refills at the daly city store in the westlake shopping center. Behind the "photo desk" was this nosey asian woman who demanded to know the details on how I got the $1 refills. I told her it was "none of her business" and to just do her job and refill the cartridge. She was argumentative and rude but this is expected at walgreens. I rarely shop at walgreens.

After dealing with this witch (For use of a better word), I got my refills.
I couldn't do an entire batch of 10 or more because of the initial confusion in trying to get this earth day special. I had the cartridges but after being told by the regional manager's snotty secretary that this special wasn't going to happen for me, I threw them away. I emailed the ceo (Greg wasson) and things changed quickly. The snotty secretary changed and became so sweet. I'm leaving extra details out, like contacting the store manager (Who is never there), the assistant manager who is careless and inept, the district manager who is evasive and unhelpful and the regional manager who is well hidden, pompous and refuses to talk to the customer. If I went into all the details the story would go on forever.

My problem was resolved with my request being honored for (10) $1 ink jet refills, so far so good. Now we go back to that store for more and this time we encounter the same woman and the same young man who is the assistant manager (He screened me thoroughly the first time I went there)... They are gossiping about me and my mother! We are standing right behind the assistant manager and can hear everything.
Once they realize this the young man rushes away and the asian woman acts like nothing is wrong.

I report this crude behavior to mr. Wasson and ask for compensation, more ink - jet refills and a walgreens gift card... And why not? I mean if this were "medieval times" both employees would be openly punished in the town square. But we are civilized in the 21st century so asking for some type of compensation is warranted. Where do these two idiots get off talking about my mom and me?

My god... This is walgreens! Where all customers are treated fairly and respected... Bulls - - -!

Mr. Wasson turns this new matter over to his legal dept. And now i'm harassed by another pain - in - the - # so - called senior attorney who has violated my privacy rights by emailing me and sending me letters.
She states that nothing will be done for us because of this insult. She demands that I contact her only.

Her letter states that she wants to talk to me. Sure she does, to get the facts about the incident. She writes, "you, of course, can choose to shop at walgreens or not"... Now how's that for walgreens great customer service!

Walgreens expects too much out of their employees for too little money. They will work you like a slave. That's probably why the employees are rude. Also, Walgreens is very selective in who they hire and retain on the job. They want to hire the most submissive, quickest and smartest servant they can find because they're a greedy as hell retail business. They like to hire Asians because, stereotype has it, they are smarter and like to work hard. I seriously believe they don't prefer to hire blacks or disabled people, unless they have to. The only Walgreens I see with black employees are the Walgreens in predominantly black neighborhoods.

Walgreens who gives flu shots?

When did a drug store become a hospital? Why are pharmacist giving flu shots or shots of any kind? The dirty secret is because Walgreens makes so much money on the flu shots. They charge $30 when it only cost them a few dollars. That is more than a $25 profit. It all comes down to MONEY! The pharmacists are forced to do this otherwise they will lose their jobs. They take a ONE DAY class and then they practice on each other. And now they are ready to give shots? I can't believe the drop in professionalism but I guess any can poke a needle into your arm after one day of class. In fact, drug addicts are much better at it than anyone.

The pharmasists are disgruntled but what can they do. They are doing so many things and to give shots on top of it. There is no real area set up to do this and with the running around there is a possibiltiy that things can get contaminated.

They should have a professional nurse focussed on administering the shots and explaining all the details. They can also answer any questions and not rush to do other things. That is the proper way.

You have to write two reviews about the same thing. Why, you hope they look bad. Well the company you work for CVS (which is why you are making lies about your competition) is worse. They falsely accused me of sexual harassment which cost me my job. Every company is out to make money dummy, even the company you work for aka CVS.

So this CVS has to post two complaints to discredit her competition. If people want ###ing flue shots that is their decision. Who are you to tell them they cannot get flue shots at Walgreens. Also why are you making your competition look bad. If anything CVS is bad because an employee falesly accused me of sexual harassment and it cost me my job.

You're an idiot. The Pharmacist administering your shot has a Doctor of Pharmacy degree...which far exceeds the education of an entry level nurse (no disrespect intended). The "one day class" to which you refer is simply the state requirement for this specific certification (in addition to BLS and OSHA certifications). It's one day because it's understood that Pharmacists already have the skill and education necessary to perform this riduculously simple task...it's simply a "refresher". Now, if your issue is that Walgreens is adding to the workload, while simultaneously decreasing technician hours and adding yet another distraction to an already "overly distracted" environment thereby increasing the risk of error simply for the sake of profit...you have a valid point; but, don't argue that point by questioning the qualifications of the Pharmacists.

Dude. Don't get your flu shot at Walgreens then.

For what it's worth, it's not hard to give a flu shot. Fill the syringe to .5ml, stick it in a thick muscle, there you go.

FYI- everyone who gives flu shots makes money off of them. If you get it done at a hospital, your insurance pays the hospital. Dur.

Get over yourself.

Walgreen's does make money on their flu shots but so does everyone else, if they didn't none of them would still be in business. But you aren't looking at the bigger picture, when you get your flu shot at Walgreen's you get back a $3 register reward to use towards your purchase, when you use that register reward another one will print for $5 more. So in turn you are really getting the flu shot for $21.99. And Walgreen's only profits $20 of the $29.99 before you get those register rewards, so basically they are making $12 off of you. Now I know if you were to go anywhere else there are around $25 as well but you don't get anything in return. Another thing to look at too is if you have insurance that pays for the shot. Your insurance pays the $29.99 but you still get the $3 and $5 register reward from it so does that mean you should send your insurance company those two register rewards and not use them?

And really who said the pharmacist only has a one day class to give you a flu shot? And drug addicts can do it better? Well your pharmacist is already starting out with more knowledge than just to give a flu shot or he/she wouldn't be filling your medicine which could help you or hurt you. So you are telling me you trust your pharmacist to give you medicine that you are taking long term or at least for more than a day but you don't trust them to give you a flu shot that even a drug addict could give? I don't think you were thinking too hard on this complaint.

Walgreens phamery

I have lived in Mo, 63304 for eight months and have been using the same Walgreens the whole time. The phameist the by the name of Chris had filled my Rxs if I brought in two of the same ones. Whicch when I moved I had some from my pcp or pain Dr. When I ask my pcp to stop writing for the pain med. He did. For some reason chris left them in my file. For the last several months he has found a reason not to fill them when it was time to fill them. I called a RX in On the 10th of Sept. IT had no refills. My doctor said to have them call ane would OK my refill. Instead of doing that he filled the one from the other that I toll them I did no want. I called him right away and he gave all kinds excuses why he filled that one and not the one I called in. when I call I gave him the RX number. which he basely call me a lier I was trying to refill another one today. He had called my doctor and because he filled the wrong RX. I d had told him not to. I don't what he told him by my Dr. stopped my RX. Which is a pain med I need. I beleive this person (chris) Is trying to cover himselp and you customers are paying the price. I really believe He needs to be replace. I went to a different Pharmey and found I have been being charged the wrong price on my copay. I really think this needed to be checked out

Just the other day I got a complaint from a customer saying I took too long because I spent too much time talking to the customer ahead of her. My interaction with the customer in front of her consisted of: hello, what is your name? Your total is...swipe your card here, have a nice day.

I have used the pharmacy at Sawdust and Budde Road, Spring, Tx. for 28 years and I must tell you that the level of service has dropped below the zero level in customer service. No "Hello" or "May I help you"; just "Name", then "I need identification!". When I returned with my identification luckily the pharmacist checked me out with a "How are you" and "Thank you". The amazing thing is that I was the only customer near the pharmacy. This store requires your Pharmacy District Managers attention. This is not an isolated case.
I asked if there was a list of shots that were available at Walgreens and the reply was a curt "No" on her part.

I don't want your sweepstakes or your cash, I just want customer service to be decent in this store.

Walgreens rude cashiers

Every time I go in to buy medicine or anything else it seems these cashiers either have some sort of attitude no manners never say thank you especially the ones that run the front register at the front of the store. I have had enough and am changing all my scripts to another pharmacy. The fact that I will tell everyone I know is sad since I am part owner of the largest Meat Packing company in New Orleans If the store cannot hire a little better class employees that are dealing with the public then why should I spend any of my money there. This has been an ongoing problem at that particular store for over 2 years no change no customer. End of story!

They often pay minimum wage, require no degrees, offer little incentive, et cetera. Employees shouldn't act like that but unfortunately being slightly rude to customers isn't enough to warrant discipline in a lot of entry-level jobs.

Yep, system has changed. Caused by people putting up with abuse and not complaining to higher ups. Basically, its become a culture thing. The most rudess is people talking on cells while checking you out. Or taking cell phones to work and spend time talking while getting paid. this is a common problem among customer service everywhere. period. it's just not like it used to be. people are rude and don't say "have a nice day" "or "thanks for shopping with us." the other day I purchased something at target. The girl was nice, but young. I said thank you after she gave me a receipt and wished her a nice day. I personally would have responded with "thank you, you as well, " however she said "thanks, I will" hmmmm...I think that it's just not being taught to younger generations. Well you won't hear me vote for higher minimum wages(aside from the economic problems it creates).
