Don't make any flight date mistakes with Virgin America because their customer service department isn't very customer friendly! A $398.40 round trip cost me another $482.99 just to get a flight back home a day earlier. So a roundtrip flight that was supposed to cost only $398.40 ended up costing me $881.39 not including the extra baggage fee. This just isn't right! My only error was booking my return flight for Friday when it was really a Thursday departure. Yes they changed my flight but the penalty was way too severe!
1. I cancelled my return flight over 24 hours before that Friday flight
2. Virgin America burns the same amount of fuel on either flight
3. The Friday flight is a more expensive flight then the Thursday flight that I ended up taking
4. The Friday flight, seat 11D was taken so Virgin America lost no money
5. I don’t mind a nominal fee for a change flight but to charge me $482.99 for a one way flight when I only paid $398.40 for my original round trip is excessive
6. Other major airlines have no change fee, while Virgin America takes full advantage of your mistakes
7. I have chosen to boycott Virgin America until they return my money and continue to warn other travelers on a regular basis as to their unfair practices!
