Purchases of canvas prints were paid for and ordered beginning of December for Christmas presents. These were due for delivery 3-5 days later. Over four weeks later nothing has been sent and the c0mpany are not answering calls or returning messages, ignoring emails and text messages. Eventually had text message from owner who on two seperate occasions said the canvases were being sent special delivery that day after waiting in for delivery they did not arrive. They offer special offers on sites such as KGB and Wowcher but do not deliver the goods and ignore all complaints sent. No customer services to contact and owner will only reply to text messages when he feels like it and uses the excuse he is busy! Offers are too good to be true to beware.

I have sent over 70 text messages to him (owner) now, some of which he replies to but others he completely ignores. He told me that he posted them on Tuesday using parcel force 48 hrs delivery but the tracking number he gave is not regognised and he says he can't give me a copy of his receipt as its unreadable! I posted a comment on KGB facebook page and they quickly got in touch with me. This company is still advertising this offer now and they haven't even sorted out the orders from the beginning of December. I to am not giving up, I enter a contract for this product at that price and thats what I want. KGB have offered me a refund however that doesn't cover 2 mornings off work and untold telephone calls. I will keep you posted if I have any luck would be interesting to hear if you do to.

Wow I didn't realise so many people would have responded to my complaint...what a total scammer. I contacted trading standards in Leicester to report this guy. They said that if they had more complaints they would investigate fully so please contact them. Unfortunately I don't have the number in front of me however I will repost it later on today. My concern is that my canvas has a picture of three small children on a beach, he says this has been printed and has been sent...where is it? the parents of the children whom it was a present for are now very concerned it will fall into the wrong hands. Thanks everyone for commenting and hopefully we will save others from losing out to this low life.

Update by Marlene1
Jan 23, 2011 5:43 pm EST

I have spoken to KGB recently and directed them to this complaints board. It seems they are having trouble contacting him also and they say they are taking their investigations into him seriously. I have opted for the refund as the two canvas I bought were Christmas presents and I am so embarrashed that they have had to wait for so long I have bought something else instead. KGB also informed me that the only money Vcreates Prints have received is for the actually canvases that have been delivered, they hold back the money until there is proof of them being received. I have also lodged a complaint with Leicester Trading Standards and hope that all this publicity stops this guy cheating others.

Update by Marlene1
Jan 24, 2011 1:36 pm EST

I stand by everything I have said in my posts. Mr Cartwright is a liar who promised me on two separate occasions that he had personally taken my canvases to the post office to send by special delivery and that I should wait in the next day (taking two mornings off work) as they would be delivered...they never showed up! The tracking number he gave was false, he made excuse after excuse when I asked him to scan me a copy of the receipt of postage stating that the quality of the paper was poor and he couldnt scan it to me, when I asked him on over 20 separate occasions for an email with the details of where they were posted from he never sent it. I even expressed my concern that the canvas photo was of three small children on a beach and how the children's parents were upset that this photo could fall into the wrong hands as Mr Cartwright had said it was printed, he did not even have the decency to respond to my worries and so I am left with upset parents wanting to know where the picture of their children is. No Mr Cartwright you should be ashamed of YOURSELF...you have left people without Christmas presents, left parents worried about the location of pictures of their children, lost me time off work and cost myself and others money and time chasing you for answers whilst being ignored or fobbed off with lies. Have you ever heard of honest is the best policy, you may not of had so many irate customers if you had at least told the truth.

After a small online search the fraudster has been found out again.
This time he is a hoover specialist. that also sells make up? great combination. been looking for a hoover and make up store for a long time :/

So to prevent anybody getting tied back up into this fraud.

Okay guys, listen up, its not just vcreates, he has been doing this for a while! I used to rent a room from him at his flat on tetuan road, just got sick off been pissed about with him all the time so thought i would do a little digging, well after around half hour found out that he doesnt pay any bills and doesnt work and takes lots of money of lots of people. He is a drug user and pusher, he pays men for 'services' and when in trouble with the police gets nastier! after having a frind over to the house he kicked off and started lieterally pushing me out the door, saying get out get out, 'for having a friend stay over'? Well when i was living there he was taking about 1000 in rent from the tenants and yet hadnt paid the mortgage in 12 months, how he managed to get away with it for 2 years before anyone actually did anything about it! oh and he didnt move he was repossessed! and he doesnt have offices he just registers he does, this vcreates thing is a fake company! none of it is real! he doesnt have the company or the office or the staff! you wont get anything from him, no refund and no canvas! just like all of us never got our deposits back from the rooms we let. ANyone needs to know anything post back to this comment and ill try let you know!

Ordered two canvas's on a KGB deals at £19.99 each. One through KGB deals and then the scam starts...
They email you to say they are extending the deal and order directly with them. I never received either print.

After hundreds of emails, and calls ... they simply refuse to get back to all complaints and the owner "Vaughan" has sworn at me down the phone for calling to get my money back. I too have never received any goods as of 4 months after purchasing or any money back despite promises of "tomorrow", "they have been sent", "I will pay you the money back tomorrow morning" "i'll put it direct into you bank" etc etc. Total liar.

He even stated "report me and see where it gets you" ... nice customer service!

Complete scam, and whoever the owner is nothing more than a common thief in my view.

Hi Bazza,
Thanks for your reply. I just received an email from KGBdeals and they are good about this. They say they will refund this amount that I've paid to me. I do hope everyone else who has bought groupons/vouchers for this person's canvas prints go up to the site admins offering this deal, to get their refunds instead of keeping quiet (as most consumers tend to do).

I feel like a silly twit for not at all being aware of this entire issue for the last few months! I live in Singapore, and I bought this deal, intending to make a print in April for my sister who lives in Liverpool, UK, as part of my wedding gift to her and my brother in-law. I just tried to login to vcreates.co.uk to make the order, but was shocked to find that the website is now down. I have emailed KGBdeals and I hope they will give me a refund.

Have all of you here gotten your refund from KGBdeals?

I really think such deal site should only offer deals from reliable merchants. Obviously Vaughan Cartwright was out to make a quick buck from us. What a scam! Since only 27 people bought this deal from KGBdeals, I guess he only made off with about 540 quid. Still, I hope whatever we've paid to KGBdeals has not been paid out to him, and that we can get a refund of this!

I paid for 3 prints through 'wowcher' in November. In Jan they said they would refund but have not been any use on a customer service level at all. I just contacted them again and they say that all refunds have been issued, but I have not had a refund credited to me at all. Anyone have any advice on what I should do now?

I ordered 3 vouchers through wowcher in November, I was chasing vcreates until wowcher sent out an email saying that there had been issues and they would refund customers who had not had their prints, this was back on the 28th Jan.

I gave them my order numbers etc and expected to receive a refund. I chased it on the 7th February and got this response from wowcher,

"We are waiting for over half the customers that purchased the VCreates offer to respond to our email of 28th January. We don't have a clue who actually received their prints and who didn't as we cannot get a reply from Vaughan Cartwright to supply details. We are sending reminder mails to the customers that have yet to respond later this week. Once we have given everybody a fair chance to reply we will close the situation and refund all those that did not receive their goods. We cannot do the refunds in dribs and drabs as we will end up with an accounting nightmare and we need to be sure that all the refunds we give are correct and that we do not inadvertently refund orders that have in fact been delivered."

I have still not received my refund and wowcher tells me that all refunds have been made, even though they did not notify me of it and nothing has been refunded to my credit card.

Does anyone have any advise on what I should do next to retrieve this money?

Vaughan Cartwright is nothing but a compulsive liar! If he has taken anything from you- and not delivered the goods- you must be on top of him... play along with his time limits but you must put the pressure on.. I am speaking from experience... I previously rented a room from Vaughan and always got on ok with him as he lived in the property tooo, I know alot of people who knew vaughan who warned me against moving in- as he would hold events (secret skin parties) and charge £25.00 per ticket... however there was no event... One time, my other flat mate has been snooping as he didnt trust vaughan and came across envelopes after envelopes from people requesting their money back, had this ever been paid... NO! I live with him for about a year and moved out... after a few months I enquired to see if he had any spare rooms and he said he did and would offer me cut down price on the best room... asked me if I could help him out with deposit and rent in October even though it would be another six weeks before I was due to move in, but as I had no previous issues with him, even when I moved out he paid my deposit back correctly.. so I thought I would help him out... Then the lies rolled in, my move in date would always be a problem because the 'current tenant' was having problems getting the keys to her new place from her landlord... this carried on for around 3 weeks, until I finally snapped! Told him I wanted all my money back and he agreed telling me he would meet me in town that same day... I waited and waited this was Nov/Dec time so freezing.. did he show.. no! He done this 3 times to me on one day... I lost my patience and went to this apartment... and waited... and waited.. but nothing... then I spoke to a neighbour who had told me vaughan had been repossessed, so he knew there would be no premises to let- he was expecting this but still took the money from me... Finally I got my money back but it took a month of calling him a million times a day, texting constantly... My only advice to you is pursue him... he needs the contact number- so as I had unlimted texts I would bombared him one after another with texts.. not saying much 'where is my money' I would send 200-300 at any one time... He hated it because it crashed his phone meaning he could not make or receive calls. Then he got in touch... and yes he does give the sympathy story.. so I started meeting him collecting £20.00 here and there which is the best way because its getting the ball rolling.. eventually on xmas eve he paid the lot off. His lies are dangerous.. he would tell me where to wait in town, he was on his way and telling me the reg of the car he was in.. and I would wait, , but then he would crack and tell me he was still at home and he didnt have the money.. He is a bizzare person! You must collect your money from him... sad thing is he prob ripped one of you off to pay me back... I think at one time he was successful but from living with him he has an expensive lifestyle and never seemed to have money... strange... the woman who owned the local chip shop told me he had charged her for flyers and never came back to her! He is full of sob stories and something needs to be done- he has never had an office.. he would sit on his bed on his laptop or go down to bossa to work... His whole life is fiction, his whole life is a scam- he cannot speak honesty... so dont believe him, , , dont give him your bank details... anything he wants to give to you collect in cash even if its just £5.00...

This guy scammed us too, in a completley different way, which makes me think he probably has no end of scams on the go. I was looking to rent a room and Vaughan Cartwright was advertising one so I went to view it. It looked good so I said I wanted it. he asked for a deposit of £300 plus one month's rent of £300. One day before the move he called to say that the room was no longer available. He infomred me that he would return all monies, I even have an email from him agreeing to this, but I have never received a penny. I have been in ocntact with BBC's watchdog - I would encourage everyone of you to do the same. The more people who contact them the more likely they are to respond. This guy needs exposing for the worm he is!

I have now also finally been refunded by Mr. Cartwright. He paid me through Paypal, who charge a fee with each transaction. Now it's probably no surprise when I tell you that Vaughan neglected to absorb the fee himself, instead passing it on to me. So instead of £19.99 I have actually been refunded £19.11. When I mentioned this to Vaughan, he said he would sort it today. This could have been a genuine oversight, but still, after all the trouble he's put me through, you'd think he would make sure I was refunded correctly.

So, whether Mr. Cartwright was just 'misunderstood' about being a conman remains to be seen, what is without question is that he's the most unprofessional business man I've ever had to deal with. But then these posts illustrate that perfectly. Hardly a good PR exercise when someone searches for Vcreates.

Cheers everyone.

Madcustomer100 - Thanks for that. If it's true it does explain a lot of Vaughan Cartwright's actions. But despite feeling somewhat sorry for him, it doesn't begin to excuse Vaughan for what he's done. He's made a very bad situation even worse. So, reap what you sew, and all that.

If the bailiffs have taken all his possessions, you'd presume he has no means of making the remaining canvases owed to KGB customers who were prepared to wait. Be interesting to see what KGB do as a company now. Anyway, I am now claiming back through my bank the £19.99 he obtained from me by deception.

Skhan123 - I'd also like the link for the reputable canvas company please. Cheers.

I too have my refund from KGB, but nothing from Vaughan Cartwright yet. He is still stringing me along with excuses, "Will do today", "will do within 24 hours", "am doing this morning", "will do shortly" etc. etc. he asked for my bank details to pay into instead, not a chance I will be doing that. The Paypal dispute I raised which he never responded to will expire in 2 days meaning Paypal will take action, they will credit my account and deduct the money from his as he has not responded in any way. Am glad I paid through Paypal, whilst it has taken a ridiculous amount of time to get the money back at least I know I will get it.

Seems like after his cameo on this complaints board, Vaughan has gone back to lurking. Unless he's too busy processing that backlog.

I can only speak as a KGB Deals customer and as such I haven't been scammed as KGB refunded me, but I have been deceived, massively inconvenienced and left with finding another canvas provider to make good on the promised gift.

If people are still awaiting refunds from him directly that is a scam - but it makes me wonder why he dealt with KGB, knowing that he would only get paid on delivery?

Obviously KGB would not have done business with him had it known, but there is something concerning about a proven and persistent liar being trusted with personal images, as Marlene1 said, and I feel like KGB should address this.

Did anyone ever get that email he said was from KGB?:

"A email was sent out today via KGBDEALS, did you not get it?

I have pasted below the email and I hope this answers your questions.

See below

******************************
Due to the overwhelming response to our KGBDeals canvas print offer, some of our customers have experienced delays in receiving their orders - if you have been affected by this may we apologise unreservedly..."

I didn't get it and I don't believe KGB would blame an "overwhelming response" on people not getting their Christmas gifts, given they agree an order limit with sellers in advance.

Hey all, I cant even be bothered to respond to Mr Cartwright's pathetic explanation and excuses. Obviously he treats people like crap and then wonders why they all dislike him! And then actually believes that by coming on this group board that everyone will accept his lies, excuses and pathetic explanations and forgive him. Dream on Mr Cartwright!

Anyways andrewjleckie my canvases from this other supplier have arrived as predicted today. However I am at work so havent opened them to see the quality. Once i get home will check and then send you the details. They are still doing canvases 24 x 20 inches for 19.99 including delivery. The size of the canvas is determined by the pic you upload. So if you upload something that doesnt fit a 24 x 20 they will automatically suggest a 24 x 16 perhaps. But if you crop your photo, it usually works out to 24 x 20 inches. They were very quick to respond to queries, usually within a few hours and also gave very clear information and also the package has turned up on time. All I now need to do is check quality. Finally someone who actually knows how to run a business and treat customers

Mr Cartwright - I dont even think he has a business, he is a freelance graphic designer and obviously got in over his head!

Vaughan Cartwright exposed for what he is, a liar and a thief. I may post my texts in the same way as they read EXACTLY like yours only with different lies but just as many unfulfilled promises.

I texted him right on the 24 hours deadline that he promised. Have been told he is doing the refunds at 4pm now. Buying more time, that's not like him is it? I don't expect it will be in again today.

Mr Cartwright,

Fundamentally you are a LIAR. In respect to it being a business that you run, you are lying to people and not supplying services that people are paying for. I for one will be doing my best to make it very aware to as many as I can that you are a SCAM. Via post, messages and whatever I can find. You have mistreated so many people and deserve to suffer for it.

Marlene1 & Doritofan - I agree wholeheartedly.

Whilst I may FINALLY get my money refunded within the next 24 hours, it doesn't make up for the fact that I looked like an idiot when I didn't have presents for people at Christmas. It doesn't make up for the fact that I had to buy alternative gifts for people as I still had nothing weeks after Christmas. It doesn't make up for the fact I have sent countless emails, text messages and phone calls (most of which went unanswered), throughout this whole ridiculous ordeal.

Honesty is the best policy. I for one would at least like a reasonable explanation for why this happened. Clearly there is more to this story, and if we were all informed long ago I would have probably just waited it out and had some trust in the company.

You must forgive people for thinking you are running a scam when you continually break promises, tell blatant lies and ignore all forms of contact for weeks.
