Vacation Hub International [VHI] failure to cancel contract

My husband and I attended a presentation on 16 May 2018 in Alberton. We were skeptical and asked lots of questions which our consultant Marlon answered but as it turns out they were all lies. I swiped my credit card for an amount of R5, 699.00. We were told that we receive 3 free holidays which they would sell and they would deposit the funds into my cheque account which i could utilise to pay off the credit card amount and a balance of about R20, 000.00. If I used the money i would need to pay a monthly amount of about R890.00 but if not NOTHING would be deducted from my cheque account. I told him that I cannot afford for any cash to be deducted from my account and he promised nothing would be deducted. He also told me that I have 30 days to cancel. I went home and felt uneasy so I went through the contract and decided to cancel. I sent an email request and registered mail letter to cancel membership on 18 May 2018. I tried to call them but I was unsuccessful. I sent a second email on 29 May 2018. they deducted R897.75 on 02 July 2018, which i reversed. They then deducted R1097.76 on 01 August 2018, which i again reversed. I called them on 03 August 2018 to asked them to stop the debits. A woman, Faranaaz, called me today, 06 August 2018 and then told me that the contract is legally binding and they apparently only received my registered letter on the 6th day of the cooling off period . they only accept registered mail cancellations. Surely this is not legal. They need to be stopped.

Vacation Hub International [VHI] I tried to cancel membership and withdraw from vacation hub international but cant. any advice on what I can do. please help

I was also caught in the scam by Vacation Hub International. I attended a presentation at Echo Lodge in St. Lucia on 1st May and signed and paid R14, 449 with my credit card ( which the bank FNB cant return as it has gone through already)
When I tried to cancell the agreement within the cooling period I couldnt get any response from VHI. Phones did not work. Same story they only phoned me on around the 15 th May. and denied being a scam and a fraudulent company. I replied to their email asking me to confirm my membership by saying I resign and want out. I demanded my money back Elsabe also told me I would have to pay the stop order on my account for 2 years. I refused and she just told me to read clause 18 which I could not find in the agreement. When I phoned them again I was told it is on the back of page 2
What a lot of crooks ! The next lady I spoke to said If I want to resign I must still pay the balance of the outstanding debt. I laughed at her and said I would rather close my account with FNB so she told me that I will lose my credit rating !
How the hell do I get out of these buggers grip ?
I opened a docket of Fraud with the Police who told me not to contact VHI but Police have done nothing further .
My bank FNB reported the fraud to their Fraud dept on 14th May but they say they can do nothing to help me. Made me wait 14 days for a useless reply as they were investigating. Todate I have still not had a phone call or Email. Today another lady at the fraud dept ( i phoned them ) told me that the guy who is handling my problem is not available. She said they could not pay me the R14, 449 but I should email VHI and notify them in writing that I am not satisfied and want to cancell.
Please can anyone advise me. I cancelled my Credit Card and withdrew my Savings. Help Anyone ?

Vacation Hub International [VHI] discount flights and accommodation

On the 16th april 2016 my husband and I attended a presentation in lenasi. We were told by marc our sales person, that if we are at any stage not happy with the service we get from vhi we can cancell the contract. We have a son overseas and wanted a family holiday together a package for each member of the family linked to the main member was promised. On the 18th we tried to contact marc as were having a problem registering the vouchers and to discuss the packages promised for the other members of the family. We started sending emails phoned vhi verbally cancelled the contract. Due to the time frame of trying to contact marc and verbal discussions we have no proof that the contract was cancelled. I have consulted with a lawyer which cost me and was told that I have to pay 50% of the agreement which we could not afford. To date there is still a debit order going through our account. I can understand if I am the only complainant. How many more consumers have to lose their money to have action taken against a bad supplier or service. How can I stop these debit orders going through without paying additional fees?

Vacation Hub International [VHI] contract termination a dawood member: 502358

My Name is Anver Dawood and I have been scammed into signing a contract with Vacation Hub International on 18/01/2018. They make all sorts of promises and dont tell you about the exorbitant levies paid for the next ten years and feed you with misleeding information. I am still within the 5 day cooling off period to terminate the contract and have sent a registered letter to the address given in the contract. I also sent an email. I would like all monies that I have paid to be refunded and the membership cancelled immediately due to misrepresentation. . I would like to terminate the membership: 502358 signed on 18/01/2018 as i am no longer interested in continuing with this agreement. I have spoken to your receptionist on 19/01/2018 and she said there was no record as yet on the system of this membership number and she was thus unable to help me. I have sent a letter via registered post(Tracking number: RC [protected] ZA )to the address stated in clause 22 and according to clause 18 (termination) in the terms and conditions I am entitled to cancel this contract within the 5 days from signing the agreement. The agreement was signed on 18/01/2018.
Please refund the document and activation fee of R14399.00 ASAP.
Please let me know if there is anything else i need to do in order to get my refund.

I will be going to my bank to stop all future debit orders as i have since read about how you ignore any requests and keep debiting the members bank account.
Thank You
Anver Dawood

Vacation Hub International [VHI] misleading information

On 2017/10/12 I were invited to a presentation of VHI with the promise of a free holiday without any obligation or cost.
After everything about VHI was explained, Clement tried to convince me to become a member of VHI, with an opening amount of R5649.00 and a monthly payment of R802.00 for 12 months.
I told him several times I can't afford the opening amount or the monthly instalment, because I'm a pensioner. Then he asked I will accept the opening amount if it will go through as budget account on my credit card and a monthly instalment of R402.00 for 24 months (because I'm a pensioner).
I agreed to that. What I did not know, was that the budget application was declined by my credit card division and Clement had put the R5649.00 on my straight credit card.
By then the people for the next presentation were already waiting and Clement rushed me to sign the contract.
When I got home, I switch my phone on again and saw that the budget application was declined and the opening amount had gone through on my credit card.
Then I sit down to read the contract properly. To my shock the monthly amount was R805.00 and not R402.00 as promised and I can only cancel the contract after two years.
Now my financial situation is in dire straits and I don't know how I'm going to survive.
Hope you can give me any advice on how to proceed with this problem.
Thanks
Aletta Otto

Vacation Hub International [VHI] vacation hub international - travel

Tempo Travel is the nominated Principal Member ? 501042: Russel Watson sold me the membership because I am a tour operator and my membership guest certificates could be used for my clients. When I tried to make a booking I was informed that only friends and family members could use my membership as I was not allowed to use the membership for savings to my clients. Russel also guaranteed an income of =-R170000.00 per year if my Premier Club points were used by VHI and this in turn would pay for the membership. Now I am informed that my points will not be utilised. I would like all monies that I have paid to be refunded and the membership cancelled immediately due to misrepresentation.

Section 14(2) of the Consumer Protection Act addresses cancellation of fixed-term contracts prior to expiry. This provision allows the consumer to cancel a contract by giving the supplier "20 business days' notice in writing or uther recorded manner and form", please take note of the requirement that a cancellation MUST be in writing or recorded form. On cancellation of a contract, a consumer is liable for all outstanding amounts owed in terms of that agreement (section 14(3)a). For example if No service was rendered up to date of cansellation no penalty is payable! Section 14 (3) b (1) allow the supplier to charge a consumer a "reasonable cancellation penalty" when a consumer cancel a contract prior to its expiry. Regulation 5 (2) of the CPA describes the criteria that must be taken into account when determining a "reasonable cancellation fee" (b) The value of the transaction up to cancellation. Please Google Cancelling Fixed Term Contracts - The Consumer Protection Act. I would like all monies that I have paid to be refunded and the membership cancelled immediately due.

Vacation Hub International [VHI] corrupt people & company

We were coerced into joining a presentation with the promise of a free Holiday & no strings attached from Lowena +[protected], Company called Explora Bran, confirmed by Mr Russel the Manager to attend the session at Monage Wedding Reception.
This was a second attempt in one year where they tried to get me to attend a session, also refusing to identify themselves or the company they represent.
On a Friday night 12th of May @ 7:30PM we attended a session where we were smooth talked and conned by Vuyo Ngoza with his Manager Carlo B. present, explaining the hidden funds in a Credit Card based on a four digit number on the back of the Card.

I should have known better!

Needless to say the con went busted when all available funds were withdrawn by the Bank from the account.
They were conmen hiding behind contracts you cannot get out of. Following Monday, the 15th of May 2017, I contacted VHI, explained I had been conned and spoke with Martie the Manager on Duty after the Call Centre Agent could not help me. She did not sound surprised!

I was informed that they could not help me without a valid account on their system & that I had to wait for the Sales Team to get back & allow them to process the account/contract first.
This is all part of the same con, the longer they fabricate a delay, the quicker a 5 day cancellation via registered mail expires as part of their cooling off period.
I informed her that I would instruct the bank to reverse the transaction and that I considered this contract null and void, and cancelled.

The account was only created on the 29th of June 2017 and then the debit orders started. I tried to phone them, send then emails with proof, they never replied or got back to me!

Each month I instructed the bank to reverse the debit order. Now Pam & Shevaun from Landau Attorneys are trying to force me to pay up as I am in breach of a contract, that, they say was never cancelled. (Not sure if they work for VHI)
Be warned, there is no such thing as a free Holiday. If someone promises you something free or a good deal not wanting to identify themselves, they have criminal intent!

Can we not start a mass action law suite against this company, they have enough money as they have clearly defrauded many people complaining on this forum?

Kind Regards
Johann

Vacation Hub International [VHI] membership agreement contract - a total & ongoing fraud with impunity

My wife got a phonecall promising free holidays, just attend the presentation.
I went with her and we got entangled in paperwork and promises orchestrated by the now famous smooth talking Errol vd Westhuizen. We were duped with false promises six to the dozen. But our amazing con artist assured that we were fully protected by the Consumer Protection Act. So I stupidly signed for the R3043.33 per month for 2 years and my wife paid the entranace fee of R 14399 on her credit card. Back home, the first thing I found when reading the fine print on the back of some of the pages of the agreement was that the monthly fee increases at about 8% per year after the first 2 years and if it is not paid you lose your membership. The verbal promise of a R 70, 000 refund after 10 years is not mentioned in the documents and in any case you need to part with about R 500, 000 in monthly payments over 8 years for this to become obtainable. No, wait - read the fine print some more and discover all of the amazing things that you have been conned into...
So get hold of the bank to stop the credit card deduction just 2 hours later. Next day they want a complaint form filling out. After that it goes to another department for investigation. Then they advise it will take up to 5 weeks before anything transpires at all. We expect this is just another con designed especially for the older generation. So you want to stop the debit order being activated. Oh no you cannot do that. You must wait until they submit it and then once it has been paid you can request a recall. But you must do this forever and ever for as long as they keep submitting. Wow look Ma how clever all this techology has become. Then they will send lawyers letters and have you listed as a crook at the credit bureau whilst they go merrily on duping more and more elderly people with absolute and total impunity. Jee Ma, its hard work trying to avoid all the legal crooks nowadays without getting yourself locked up.
So who will help us senior citizens? Someone, anyone? Not a solitary soul has any interest in old fools whatsoever. Just gonna risk attracting more of the same Ma. We are on our own, totally alone in an increasingly hostile place.
Sure we have been trying to extract from the membership agreement contract thing and I did it all by the book with copies of everything and what do VHI do for us. They spit on us. They tell us they are not cancelling and we can take the Consumer Protection Act and just pay up. They decide we don't comply with the law. See Ma, I gone and done it again. If I complain any more I think they will have me locked up.

Dear Jesus I need a holiday.

Vacation Hub International [VHI] cancellation of contract

My wife and I was at a presentation at Buntu Lodge Nelspruit on the 2-May-2017 we wanted to leave as we show that it was about holiday as we have flexi club points and pay a levy per year. We told the presenter this and he told us that they vhi can help us to generate income with the points we have to pay the yearly levies and even pay for this holiday plan in full which was a once off amount of R70, 000 payable over two years and a deposit of R14, 399 which we paid with our credit card . The presenter showed us what we can earn and it looked very attracted as this would pay both flex and the vhi membership cost. We signed and the next day when over the terms and conditions and show that there is also a monthly levy of R710 payable over ten years. We decided to cancel the contract within the 5 day cool off BUT this is where the problem started to get hold of the person which was .
Lucas Muller cell [protected] e-mail address [protected]@gmail.com to cancel was not possible I then phone there offices in Somerset West and the lady there could not help me even when I gave her my name and contract number. I then sent a sms to Lucas Muller phone requesting cancellation no responds as well as a e-mail to vhi using the e-mail on the contact which is [protected]@vhi.co.za this was on the 5-May-2017 no responds.
The 10-May-2017 I again tried Lucas Muller number and he surprised me and answered I told him about my request to cancel and the sms to him on the 5-May-2017 and ask me my name and contract number which I have to him he said he will look into it and come back stile did not come back only requested my my name and contract number per sms which also gave him.
A other Lady then phoned saying that I want to cancel I told her that I sent a e-mail to their clients department where she even works she told me that by cancelling I am to pay 50% of the fees/cost Why did they not respond during the cool off period is mush to say
I just want my deposit back and the contract cancelled

Vacation Hub International [VHI] difficulty in obtaining refund of r14,000 after contract was cancelled

On Fri 3 Feb '17 I went to a VHI presentation with my husband in Jhb where I was asked if a could afford R500 for 3 mths. The rep told us that he would get
K112 for our available Holiday Club Points and that there was a once off charge of K70. No other costs were advised. He also told us that he could get flights to Mauritius at end Nov for R4, 800 pp. Based on this info and because we were in an extreme hurry to fetch our grandson I signed and initialed the 8 pages of the contract without reading any of it. Once I got home I read the contract and found that we had to pay R2, 333.33 p.m. for 2 years plus extra monthly service fees of R645.00 which would go up annually which we were not told about. Also there were no discounts on flights and no guarantees that we would receive any money for the Holiday Club Points. On Monday 6 Feb I couriered receipt and Cancellation Letter to CT plus emailed copy of letter to [protected]@vhi.co.za. On Fri 10 Feb phoned [protected] in CT to follow up and told the contract had not arrived and nothing could be done until then. Phoned again on 15 Feb and told that the person dealing with the refund would be Elsabie. Phoned again on 20 Feb and eventually was put through to Elsabie who told me she would email me her direct email address and that the board was meeting on Fri 24 where she would get approval to email me the refund document. No email ever received from her. Phoned again on Mon, told she was unavailable by Margaret but would give her the message, phoned again this morning 27 Feb, again put through to Margaret and told she would give Elsabie the message, phoned again this afternoon, spoke to Maggie who said she would give Elsabie the message. I do not know what else I can to to obtain the refund of R14, 000 debited to my credit card. Please help as I am being totally ignored.

Vacation Hub International [VHI] will not accept cancellation of contract according to cpa "direct marketing" law

My wife and I were duped into attending a VHI presentation on the 22nd September 2016, in Boksburg and succumbed to a high pressure, high energy presentation given by very insistent sales people. We were not afforded the time to scrutinize the documentation carefully, as the next group of attendees had already moved into the presentation room. That evening after reading the documentation carefully and after viewing comments on the internet, we realized we had been scammed into something we cannot really afford, as I was retrenched in December 2015 at the age of 60 and due to my age have not been able to find employment yet. Thus I alerted VHI on the 23rd September 2016 of my wish to cancel membership, within the 5 day "cooling-off period". This was done by registered mail, FAX, e'mail and SMS, based on Section 16(3) of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) which came into effect on 31 March 2011, that any contract concluded as a result of direct marketing may be rescinded without reason or penalty, by notice to the supplier in writing, or another recorded manner and form, within five business days after the date of signing.

In turn they replied to me that they refuse to accept my cancellation and will only cancel if I pay an exorbitant cancellation fee, which I cannot afford. Their stance is in breach of South African law and they have not and cannot provided me with plausible legal reasons for their decision not to accept my request for cancellation. I notice from internet sites like HelloPeter, Complaints Board, Legal sites, etc. that this is their normal modus operandi when cancellation is requested. VHI scam individuals with false information, into signing contracts with them and then when cancellation is requested, they try and bully people into accepting there illegal cancellation stipulations.

I paid an activation fee of R8750 and document fee of R399 by Credit Card and I have a debit order of R1469.75 per month being deducted by Sage from my bank account. Thus far I have instructed the Bank to reverse the debit order on a monthly basis.

If you require any further information, proof of cancellation within the prescribed time, etc., I can provide it.

Your help in resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Vacation Hub International [VHI] unethical behaviour -

On the evening of the 12-06-2016 I attended a presentation by a vhi sales team.
From what was told to me in the presentation I paid a deposit to join, however on reading the fine print in thier contract I found out that I have been conned, and that the contract beared little resemblance to that what was being offered verbally by the sales representatives
That same evening, ~2 hours after signing up I tried to cancle the contract but was told I could not.
After months of phone calls ans e-mails and my highlighting that had crossed out most of the contratictory clauses on the contract at the time I signed it, in september 2016 vhi agreed to refund me, however 7 months later they still have not refunded me, the standard reply being the payment has been given to thier accounts department to pay me.
The accounts department do not answer the phone, or the switchboard does not put you through to the anyone in the accounts department. When you speak to liason officers the y tell you the company only has a small budget for paying accounts and you must sit at the back of the line indefinatly to be paid.

The vhi switchboard

Vacation Hub International [VHI] scam - holiday club

On the evening of 8th of November my husband and I attended a presentation at the Silverstar Casino. We were told by Russel Hatfield our sales person, that if we are at any stage not happy with the service we get from VHI we can cancell the contract . The Morning of the 9th of November, I 've send them an e.mail stating that we reconsidered the application and that because of the fact that we are pensioners decided that we will not be able to afford the amount due. As a conusmer we do have a cooling of period of 5 days with a contract closed. I phoned in and asked for a e-mail address to send my cancellation letter and a very Rude Elzabe told me she cannot help me i have to look on my contract - explaining to her that i do not have my contract with me at that stage she just said " well find it yourself on the contract " I did find it and have sent 9 mails and about 20 calls to them since then. up today the 15th of November I am still battling for somebody to help me. I have left several messages for the manager Ulrika to call me .. with no success at all. If i do not get service now.. what about the future? I thin this is a big scam and somebody need to look into this scheme.. my VHI number on the contract is 401802. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER. We have paid the first 9149.00 and I need them to refund it to me immediately!

Vacation Hub International [VHI] scam and rip-off

My wife & I were invited to attend a vacation presentation at The Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre in Benoni on 27/09/2016. After the presentation, which sounded very positive and appealing, we where introduced to the very friendly "salesperson" who went throught the whole financial side of the package. We have been members of Flexi Club for over 15 years and the salesman convinced us that they can use our Bonus Breaks and we would in turn receive R10 000.00 per bonus break with a maximum of eight bonus breaks per year and that money would pay for our membership in full and we wouldn't have to pay anything any further. The salesperson, Errol va der Westhuizen also informed us that this was a "one time offer" for that night and if we wished to cancel, legally we can do so within 5 working days but VHI will extend it to 14 working days. He worked out our "Activation Fee" to R8750.00 and a once off "Documnet Fee" of R399.00 with the total deposit coming to R9149.00 which was eventually paid by debit card, with the feeling that we could cancel in due course if we wanted to. We were assured by Errol that if, for any reason, we do decide to cancel, we will be refunded the "Activation Fee" of R8750.00 but not the "Documentation Fee", which sounded fair. The following day, my wife and I spoke about our new "investment" and came to the conclusion that we actually would not be able to afford it after assessing our finances. On 30/09/2016, just 3 days after we signed up, I drafted a cancellation letter and e-mailed it to Ronel van Graan at VHI, addressing to Ronel and Errol. I also stated in the letter that I would be sending the same letter via Registered Post, which I did on the same day at Lakeside Mall Post Office in Benoni. The following Monday, 03/10/2016, I sent the receipt/tracking number of the registered letter to Ronel. Since then, I have been in constant communication via telephone and e-mail with VHI and have records of all communication. On 27/10/2016, I eventually received an e-mail from Sandra Taljaard with an attached letter signed by Elsabe Labaschagne stating that "I do not qualify for a withdrawal and if I still wish to pursue my cancellation, I will have to pay a cancellation fee, will not get a refund and will have to pay 50% of the oustanding balance of the service fees payable for the duaration of the fix term period".

This is a total rip-Off from VHI. I have replied to them stating all of the above and request that I be refunded my "Document Fee" of R8750.00 as promised by Errol.

All I want is my membership cancellation and a refund of the "Document Fee" of R8750.00.
My membership number at VHI is 401721.

Please can someone assist urgently.
My name is Dayalan Kolapen and I can be reached on:

Many Thanks.

Vacation Hub International [VHI] false information

We signed up with VHI on the 8 August 2016, we were advised that this would benefit us as they deal with WHOLESALE fights, accommodation, vehicle hire, visas.

We were also told that our membership will be activated within 3 weeks, after numerous phone calls we discovered that it takes 8-12 weeks for activation as per their terms and conditions that was not discussed with us, however we left it at that.

Upon making a request for a flight to Ahmedabad India for the 16th October 2016, we were emailed a quotation which was worth R42000 that's the normal airfare when questioned about the discounts and wholesale prices the woman says there is no such thing I was shocked when I asked her what about Visa's she says they do not do any visa applications, when I told her at the time of signing for this Diamond membership package we were told 3 weeks member login and account will be activated wholesale flights visa's accommodation transport to hotel everything will be sorted out by VHI she says not at all I asked her why where we given this misleading information at the presentation by your staff she then said that the presentation staff is part of LEADING MARKET they are hired by them to get clients to join, I was left speechless.

I said to her I want to cancel this membership she threatened me with sending me legal notice for breech of contract, in the meantime I have called them over 10 times I have sent emails which shows promises made by Leading Marketing it all started with one phone call from them saying you have won a competition its a trip to Thailand.

I have paid R14000 deposit to them and they refuse to refund answer my calls or reply to my emails I am so exasperated by them its not acceptable at all during this whole application process we filled nothing Leading Marketing staff filled out all the information for us Leading Marketing staff told us the terms and conditions even Leading Marketing refuse to talk to us in fact the sales rep Ibrahim told us he can loose his job for communicating with us I have his entire whatsapp chat saved on my email no one is listening no one cares no one responds nothing at all is being done.

If anyone can assist in sorting out this mess kindly contact me Nashira [protected] urgently thank you.

We were sweet talked into signing up using our holiday club membership number. We have signed up but after doing investigations there are several things which were not stated and or clearly explained. We are now trying to cancel within the 5day period and are being given the run around.
