United States Postal Service [USPS] no mail delivery

I forwarded my mail online on *8/3/08 and confirmed with the Seattle, WA office that it was forwarded and will take 10-14 days. I received 2 pieces of mail with a "yellow" sticker confirming my mail forwarded, I received 1 piece of mail with an actually new address, 2 days after moving to the new address (I gave them the new address before I forwarded my mail) and I have received by USPS mail delivery change confirmation form. After receiving this mail my first week, today is 8/30/08 and I have not received any mail. Even the weekly employer envelopes that had my new address that I received within my first 2 days of residing here, has stopped coming. I confirmed no mail has been returned with them and all other parties, spoke with old post office and they spoke with carrier and no mail is coming back and all mail is being forwarded at this time, to the new address. I spoke with a Wendy at Auburn, WA Post office today 8/30/08 and she says that if the carrier does not receive a "Card" to deliver my mail, they will send it back to where it comes from. Evidently, even after mail has already been delivered here-because remember I am now not getting mail from my employer, who has my new address). Anyway, Wendy said they can not call the carrier to find out why because of the new cell phone laws and she confirmed it is the carrier's responsibility to update the mail card in the lock mail box, to what mail is being recieved. I received my confirmation by mail, from the USPS within my first week of moving, in the mail box that this very same carrier/route, delivered to me. Wendy, says she can not confirm with carrier, there is nothing being held at the post office for me currently and I have asked to speak with her supr, she responded saying she is a supr and I again said, I would like to speak with her supr, she took a message for another supervisor and they called me back 5 minutes after their office closed. Sue the supr, starts her conversation with me by saying that she sees I am a new resident at this address and will get me added to the address for mail delivery and then wanted me to give the names of all who live at this address, I responded by saying I want to know where my mail is (I was not calling about other people's mail) and that I don't know who and she said "Oh, ok..." and hung up on me. In between Sue calling me back, I further confirmed with the Kent USPS Office, where my mail would go, as Wendy-Auburn says that it was sent back by the carrier, Tim at the Kent USPS Office says it would not be sent back if it was forwarded and offered me the PostMaster's name at Auburn and we spoke about me filing a formal complaint at this point and speaking further with a Lennie Deleon (Tim was not sure of how to spell his name.) I am at a loss with the service I have received from the Auburn, WA USPS Office, I have no mail, no financials and am a single parent, who is attempting an internal investigation or accountability acceptance on the services that are to be provided by the carrier at Auburn USPS Office. Yesterday, I had no money in my account and my employer fronted me worked hours, because I have not received my mail and they have not received any mail back. This is still unresolved at this time and I have no mail coming to me, it has caused undue hardship relations between me and my employer and my livelyhood is now in jeopardy (rent, bills, food...). What more can be done to resolve this and the pain and suffering, that I am being put through as a single parent during these times - on an immediate level?

They don't care. They show this every time. I've had like two altercations with the employees there and just moved out here. I just bought my PO Box around October and they gave me problems with that. Then they tries to fraudulently charge me for a package without a label without telling me an itemized deduction of fees. This place is a scam with a government label on it.

United States Postal Service [USPS] - not getting my mail

I am residing at 3401 s main street with my wife millicent l. Brodie - knight. My son dr. Mark knight and his wife were also occupants of that home and they have moved. We have put in three change of address forms on different occasions and the problem is the postman and the system. Some one had placed a card in the mailbox saying that unit is " vacant "...

United States Postal Service [USPS] non-deliver of mail

In April of 2007 my son David Zoltowski filed a change of address form with the post office. Everything was fine until my mail for Daniel Zoltowski stated being forwarded to my son's address (21305 Joliet, Macomb, MI 48044). I contacted the local post office and asked them to be sure they only forwarded David's mail. All mail is using the full name and not the initial. My bills continued to be sent to my son. I visited the local post office 3 times and each time was assured that it would be taken care of. The last visit I received an explanation that the bills are sorted a another company which is sub-contracted to do this job and then forwarded to the post office for delivery. I was told the sub-contractor would be cotcted and told not to forward mail addressed to Daniel. This didn't work either. The vendors started changing my address on all my bills sending them directly to my son. I had to contact the vendors and explain I had not moved and to NOT change the billing address on my accounts. April came and I thought now everything will be ok because David's change of address form had expired. Boy, was I wrong. I have received 3 calls this week because I had not paid bills (of coure I had not received these bills). I found that now the post office is sending my mail back to whomever sent it. My charge account holder called me and informed me that there was a hold on my account because I had not paid my bill. After talking to them I found that my bills had been returned to them as njon-deliverable. I am totally frustrated. Today I spoke to the City of Sterling Heights concerning an Absentee Ballot and they informed me that they had sent the request to my home and it was returned to them as undeliverable. I don't know how much more mail I have not received, but the junk mail sure arrives. HELP! I don't know what to do.

I live at a reassigned address due to the 911 initiative in 2010, which renamed roads and gave new address numbers to houses, supposedly so that the 911 emergency system could better find the house in an emergency. I don't know if this is the problem or not. I routinely fail to get very important mail that I am expecting. Medical licenses, DEA cards, Checks, Insurance papers, Jury duty notice, Legal notices, IRS papers, and so on. I know only about these because they are anticipated to arrive and never do. The post-office only responds that they need information regarding who sent it, how it was sent and so forth. They really do not care. Now I am trying to file absentee ballot, but I cannot locate my polling place because my address does not exist.. Filed online complaint and have heard nothing, and am sure I never will. Pathetic. For many of these things there is no other form of delivery. Funny, but when something is sent certified, they seem to be able to find my house. I bought another house recently and when I did, my credit report showed a collection from about 2 years prior for $85.00. Never got the bills or collections or any notices. I make well over $500K per year and have a spotless credit report in spite of paying more in taxes than is conceivable - need a tax attorney or something?. Really? $85 collection on my report which cost me higher interest on my loan because the post office cannot reliably deliver mail? Whatever happened to thru rain and sleet and snow and all that, , or am I confusing this for the pony express? I am lost and have no idea where to go from here, but I need my mail. Who knows what else I did not get that I was not even expecting?

as a retired mailman in syracuse ny, I can tell you that the problem comes from washington DC. no hiring is allowed unless it is approved by washington. when someone retires his route is obsorbed by the exsisting routes. the routes are being timed right down to the second, and being retimed every 2-3 months so there is no spare time. when the carrier is given extra to do, due to retirement, sick call, or vacation time, it tacked on to an exsisting route and the carrier is told to do the extra 1st, thus putting his regular deliverys behind for the day. Also having a differant person deliver part of a route everyday results in undelivered and misdelivered mail. Its only going to get worse. This also applys to the inside help. They have cut back the mail sorters and counter help so much that to get a book of stamps can take you up to 45 minutes. In my own personal opinion, I think the government is trying to make the service so bad that the public will want it turned over to public enterprise, which is what the government wants.

Discrimination employee misconduct complaint re: Location Two
Eastern Heights, Oakdale location (Bob) & older Caucasian window clerk Linda-verbally loud, defensive & rude! Oakdale, Mn location Supervisor Mr. Iverson

Summery: On 9.30.2009 I attempted to go to this post office location to purchase some postage stamps for my five letters. Postal employee Jesse rudely and discriminately, disrespectfully greeted me! This is my third appearance at this location, which is connected to this small strip mall storefronts that also house/lease Rainbow foods grocery store.

The outer appearance of this post office location is dirty unsanitary and disgusting. Spots-stains-spite-spew-saliva surround the entrance and concrete side-walk. Smashed bubble gum discarded cigarette butts carelessly littered and thrown.

Jesse seemed to be in an ornery, foul, argumentative and impatient mood and was also argumentative and defensive with me! Addressing me as a child or animal! On further note Jesse also smelled like he needed a bath as he is an extremely oversized male that sits in a chair at the customer service window all day with an ornery and stern attitude. Customers/citizens should not have to be subject to this type of discourteous, dirty, misconduct and or behavior.

This is the third post office within less then a years time around the E. Saint Paul Minnesota area that has been getting numerous complaints and negative ratings with it’s management/supervisor/employee customer relations and discriminatively run business! Including the Dayton’s Bluff location & Eastern Heights, Oakdale Mn. Caucasian male window teller (Bob) who wears visible droopy gold neck chains and appears intimidating to some customers/consumers. I verbally heard him call a Caucasian woman customer stupid in a joking disrespectful manner belittling her during a window transaction! Bob seems to frequently be in a cocky, defensive, stern mood during window customer transactions with other selective customers.

Furthermore, at the Seeger post office location when I asked for a manager or supervisor on duty I was rudely and sarcastically given a name of Charlie. However, this man was unavailable for customer complaints/concerns at the time…So when I got to my home/residence I attempted to call customer service hotline for the USPS @ [protected] Unfortunately, this number and department customer service computer’s were allegedly down, at the time, only to file a complaint, not to purchase postage and or track or to ship a package! I was told to call back later that night or tomorrow to file a consumer complaint. As of receipt of my/this original complaint over a week later after submitting a verbal complaint to Minneapolis Northland district Consumer Affairs manager Mrs. Natalie Sorvari t: 612.349.4401 who was to return my calls regarding a previous complaint months ago and never did! This Location and office/department has been recently unresponsive to my letters. However, I did manage to file another verbal complaint the following day over the telephone with a familiar over sarcastic and insincere woman by the name of: Mary-Joe hotline t: 612.349.6388 f: 612.349.3512

Please properly, investigate

Sincerely and respectfully a concerned customer/consumer Mr. P. Tejeda

I live in a small apartment complex and am disabled in that I have a very serious illness. This means I am home 90 percent of the time.

The trouble I am having is that the postal carrier does not ring my bell if there is a
package, nor does (s)he put a slip on the door alerting me a package has been even
there for me! This is serious; I have medicines which come via mail.

I have talked with my regular carrier, he says it is not him but the substitutes. I have called and complained to the supervisor, she does not seem particularly concerned - although she said she would talk to the carrier in question, it keeps happening.

I ordered a piece of artwork from Canada and have just found out there was attempted delivery on a day I was home and that a supposed slip was put on the door, advising me of this attempt - 2 weeks ago! I know I was home, as it was the day before a huge medical test, so was resting, but would have heard the doorbell.
Now I am advised this has probably been sent back to Western Canada, with expensive shipping costs.

This has been going on too long. What can I do? As a Disabled Person, do I have any rights? I have been disabled for 9 years, the stress of this may not sound large, but it is. The lack of medicines being received, or of some pleasure, is enormous, to someone who is housebound most the time.

Writing this out does not eliminate my stress, I am looking for results. The Post Office must deliver mail to me, it has been paid for.

I have two complaints regarding two packages I have sent two different times from Rochester, New York to 1412 Market Street, San Francisco, California zip code 94102. Both packages were to go to 1412 Market Street which is a dorm by the name of Golden Gate Hall (San Francisco Conservatory of Music). The first package I neglected to put Market Street and addressed the package 1412 Gold Gate Hall. The student never got the package and I never received it back. I believe that any postal carrier would have known that address or would have been able to figure it out and get it to the correct address. The address comes up quickly when you google Golden Gate Hall on the internet. I made numerous phone calls trying to figure out where it ended up. Finally a postal worker said that incorrectly addressed packages end up somewhere in her building and there were having trouble with getting them sent back because this job was outsourced and there was some problem.

The other package I sent on October 14 and addressed it correctly. It is has been 11 days and the student still hasn't received it. Is there some problem with this particular post office?

United States Postal Service [USPS] After this experience, I wonder who could provide better service than usps

Today before I went to school, I made my trip to usps that is not too far from where I live. I knew this location has my textbook because I picked up my previous order of textbook through online at here. They were suppose to open customers' entrance at exactly 0800 today but they opened the door at 0807. First of all, they ignored the customers who were waiting outside their door. I was able to see the asian woman employee standing at the booth (or whatever you call it) but she did not do anything but just standing there.

Second of all, I knew they had it because I checked my order from online tthrough usps track & confirm link this morning before went to that specific location. When it was my turn to process, I showed the employee (asian dumb woman) my license and my tracking number that I printed out the day before. Guess what she did? She put it aside and called next customer. I was like 'what is going on? Why is she not looking for my order?' turned out, she did not even bother to look at it.

She called her supervisor and sent him off instead when it was not that even busy. The supervisor (very idiotic stupid white guy) came back with my license and saying that they do not have the textbook that I ordered from online. Turned out, he only checked the name but did not even bother to check whether it was same address or not.

My previous order took about almost a week. For this order, it did took about almost the same time. The supervisor basically lied to me that there were no textbook order for me to be picked up.

I was so pissed off this morning at the stupid asian employee and the supervisor. After I got home from my class, I found my textbook at the doorstep of my house. When I saw my order at my doorstep, that even made me way more pissed off.

Usps has either full of dumb employees or people who never pay attention at all. After this experience, I wonder who could provide better service than usps because they really suck and the people who work there are all full of cr*p.

I agree with you. The Post Office needs to be Privities. Most of the Government Employees just don't care. They get paid well if they do a good job or bad. I can't get my mail. I talked to the postmaster at 16015 CAIRNWAY DR HOUSTON, TX [protected] First of all he it look like he was drunk and trying to sober up. He took my number down and said he call me. I knew he wasn't going to call this was two weeks ago.

Advice Open an account at one of the UPS or Post Box Store and get your own personal Mail box that’s one way to get your mail.

Take the Post Office out of the hands of the Government. Government Employees have no incentives to do well. Most of there job position is who you know. Knowledgeable person need not apply. Give the job to family member friend or sex partner.

Good Luck my friend we are all dome

Did you ever think that your mail carrier went ahead and thought you might need your text book and brought it too your house instead of having you make the trip to the post office. Just because it says its in the post office online dosen't mean that your normal mail carrier dosen't want to bring it to your door. It depends on what time you went to the post office. Maybe your mail carrier had already left and he had your book in his LLV.. Walk a mile in someone elses shoes before you complain about them... What do you do for a living?

United States Postal Service [USPS] Forwarding mail

I submitted a temporary change of address on 27 June 08 to be effective on 1 July 08. On 6 July 08, my daughter checked my delivery box and found 8 pieces of mail had been delivered to my permanent address. On 7 July 08, I called the La Vernia Postmaster and advised her of the problem. Her reply was that a Temporary delivery person had worked the route I'm on and had "Probably" made the mistake. This is the second time I have experienced this problem with this post office. The last time was in July 07 and I was advised by the postmaster that it was a Saturday temporary person's error. I was advised that the problem would be fixed, but apparently it is not fixed.

I have tried to return mail because of an unknown recipient sent accidently to our "business" address in San Antonio. Though I have covered with new labels or crossed out they come back.
I have tried to forward mail to a recipient and they will actually rip the new label off and send it back.

I was told that I could not forward any mail from a business address, even though it has the first class 42 cent stamp on it. Yet I am very well aware of other cities that are not under that restriction.

If I file a change of card for each recipient whose mail is sent to our address by mistake will it allow it to be forwarded? (I am aware that the recipient will have to fill in the card for change of address.)

United States Postal Service [USPS] homophobia/sexual harassment/racial discrimination

I’m an African-American Lesbian and I’ve worked for the United States Postal Service since July of 2005. I’m a veteran of the Army and the Navy. I have a good attendance record and I’m never late for work. I’ve been subjected to sexual harassment, racial discrimination and harassment because of my sexual orientation. On May 16, 2008, I was working in the registry cage. It’s an actual cage. A Caucasian female co-worker walked up to me and said, “You workin’ in the cage tonite?” I replied, “Yes.” She said, “You got you a banana?” I said, “No.” I’m frowned up at this point because I know where this is going. She then said, “Well you know if you gone be a monkey in a cage you need yourself a banana; they didn’t tell you that?” I said, “No.” I walked away in shock. That was a blatant racial slur. Was she trying to provoke me? Did she want me to strangle her so that I could get put off the clock maybe even losing my job and going to jail? It was reported to management and nothing was done as usual. I’m currently waiting for the EEOC to set up a date/time for REDRESS mediation. I’m sure I’ll find no relief through this procedure because I’m seeking monetary damages. I believe this matter deserves national attention because the Good Ole Boys are notorious for sweeping these matters under the carpet and then retaliating against anyone that complains. I’m currently seeing a therapist to help me work through this matter. However, it’s not working so I’ve opted for Cymbalta for the time being. I’m surrounded by sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigots.

At my wits end

Huntsville, AL

Complain y to your superiors and keep recrds of what you do.
Your colleague's remark is racist and sexual -- totally uncool. You have a right to be upset. I'm neither black nor gay -- just white and married and born with some physical challengeI s. grew up in a place where your colleague would've learnedat an early age to NEVER say such a thing like she said to you., lest she have a very good dentist or good medical coverage. That's how things were handled where I grew up. It taught you the value of respecting other people who were different than you.
Stay peaceful -- a valueable thing I learned when kids picked on me for being different than them. Peace will be your be your best ally. She's just looking for a fight. By not giving her a fight, she won't get what she wants and be frustrated.
Sounds silly to equate your colleague's behavior to a grade school playyard, but that's what you're dealing with -- a sad tomato who never grew up.

United States Postal Service [USPS] a nightmare service location for mail delivery

In the last couple of years, the Cupertino postal office in California has been misdirecting my mails, losing my mails, and delivering mails to my mailbox that are not addressed to me. What is wrong with this postal office and the postmaster? I never saw this kind of low quality postal service before at any other location all-over the US.

Can anybody tell what the root cause is? Is it the incompetent postmaster? Is it the delivery person? What does it take to solve the problem? How can I complain directly to the USPS? Does the local government care this kind of problem?

Our Village never had mailboxes until the last few years. I am an elderly person and cannot shovel snow however, I can drive my car to the post office. I have not received my mail for a week because the carrier can't get her car up to my mailbox. When the usps first wanted to put mail boxes in our community and tried to convince everyone in the village to get one (they were not required), they even offered to bring it up to your door if you didn't want to have a mailbox. Our Village has a post office and don't really need mail delivery. So, why can't they help out an older person when the mailbox is snowed in. This doesn't seem quite fair. All the mailboxes did was create an in town route which the government has to pay for. It just goes to show that as long as they were trying to get people to put up mailboxes, they would go to the moon for you but now that there are some in the community, they don't want to even go to your door let alone to the moon! IS THIS THE AMERICAN WAY?

United States Postal Service [USPS] took my money and my mail

Mailed 2 boxes to same address on the same day using Track and Confirm. Both boxes had 10 X 12 bright blue labels written on in Sharpie black pen. I paid for PRIORITY MAIL for a 2-3 day delivery. USPS advertises this everywhere and charges more for it. Both boxes made it to Denver in 2 days. 1 box delivered to its destination the next day. 2nd box disappears. 10 days later, Track and Confirm says my box is in Maryland but no one can explain, nor can anybody find my box. I've called customers service 4 times. I've been told a "supervisor" will call me back, but so far no call. My calls to customer service get a lot of I'm Sorry's but no action. USPS has taken my money, my property and gets away with it. At the very least, this is false advertising, fraud, a broken contract, and in my mind theft. I'm out the $25 priority delivery (which I now learn is not guaranteed), the contents of my box, the time effort and money to put the box together and mail off. No more boxes in the mail EVER!

First off you used a priority box to mail something parcel post something very different than priority if you would have mailed that reused priority box for priority then you would not have received that box back. Parcel post means you are only paying for the parcel to go one way if the receiver does not except the parcel then its your responsibility to pay for it to come back to you, so I suggest that customers ask questions before they send out what ever it is that is being sent out. The public is not educated and get angry because they cant do whatever they want to do.

Postmaster General
U.S. Postal Service
475 L'Enfant Plaza, SW
Washington, DC [protected]
Dear Mr. Postmaster General:

I am constantly appalled at the current idiocy of governmental agencies and workers. My husband has been a government employee all of his life, 30 years military, 15 state. We are very patriotic, our flag flies 24/7, lit at night as prescribed, but are still disgusted with the general stupidity of the system.
Recently, I reused a couple of priority mailing boxes to ship something parcel post. I have been an avid recycler for over 30 years, long before it became public policy. More importantly, I first avoid wasteful packaging and design, then I re-use whenever possible. My packages were returned to me with a nasty note that looked like a 3rd grader had written it. It was clear that the boxes had been previously used and opened although I was careful to mark out barcodes and other markings. I fail to see how, legally, the USPS can claim that even after the original contract was paid and fulfilled (original mailing use) that the boxes are still their property and subject to ANOTHER priority fee. Following that methodology, the same box could net multiple fees if users were careful not to destroy it. The fact that I DO have the right to tear it to shreds and either trash or recycle it after the original contract is fulfilled is hypocritical…. and at the very least, ludicrous. Equally hypocritical is that the box is printed with an admonition to “please recycle” but USPS refuses to allow me to recycle it by using it for another shipment after it has already been used.
Despite your irrational policy, I have found a solution. The same day I was forced to open and repackage my parcels, I directed every entity that communicates with me via USPS to change my billing/communication format to electronic and I signed up for electronic billing so that even my online checks are no longer mailed. I filed several “stop junk mail” items as well. Each day since this event I have taken EVERY piece of mail that enters my mailbox and called or written the sender requesting that they no longer send me communication through the USPS mail system. I will choose alternate shipping methods when I buy and, finally, I have renegotiated my account shipping fees with UPS and FedEx and will now use them exclusively. The few extra dollars going into the private economy will be worth it.
I’m sure that your solution will be to raise postage fees. When that happens, rates at other shipping companies will become even more competitive. As the delivery schedule for those companies becomes more consistent, they undoubtedly will offer more services at even more competitive prices. No wonder USPS and the government in general is in trouble!
I recall that many years ago I took the postal exam and scored 100% on it. After a couple of interviews, I was told by one employee that I had little chance of ever being hired because I was white (actually I’m part Native American, but do not use that fact to my favor). She told me that minorities got extra points and could exceed a score of 100%. Again, “nice”, “very nice”. While I absolutely agree that veterans might get extra points, (they actually sacrificed themselves for the government), I never understood why a person’s race should give them any advantage. Mine certainly has not. During my lifetime I have lost out on many things, despite the fact that my qualifications were higher, because of my race, not because of my ability, skills or character. As I get older, I can see that the government is often given to irrational thought and policy, which the USPS so deftly exampled recently.
Since I do ship rather regularly, and did have some new boxes, I have “recycled” them into my recycling can as I will no longer need them and each box clearly directs me to recycle. Our local government will have to pay to have them recycled and energy and water will be wasted, but, apparently, that is the preferred solution of the USPS.
Thanks so much for the enlightening experience! But, then, I’m guessing you care very little as you will still collect a very nice pension, far better that men and women who have sacrificed their lives, limbs, safety, health and families and until, recently, have been paid below poverty level in military service to our country. You should be very proud. I often wonder why postal employees go crazy and kill other employees; it would be far more legitimate if the consumers were wielding the guns.
Nice job, hopefully more citizens will respond the same, and I’m sure they will!

I've seen these USPS people in action. The blame can be put on only one person; Postmaster General. When Porter took over in 2004 there was a surplus(sound familiar, like Bush) of funds available. He answers to NO one in particular so(actually he does but they don't care either) so he sits behind a larger Cherry desk making a measly $800, 000 with bennies waiting for retirement. Call your local post office see if you can find a Postmaster. I doubt very seriously because they were trained by the master.
Sent a Certified letter a distance of 800 miles. USPS lost it, or couldn't tell me if the party every received it. Tracking a joke, to get extra funds. Means nothing unless you pay extra for items like "receipt return" or what ever the best money maker is. Funny part about the certified letter I sent and they(USPS) could'nt find, , , , , , , , well it happen to be a Passport with a Cashiers check and important docs, , , , , , , my wife and I flew to D.C. to personally renew her Passport, , , , , guess what, , , , , , , , it was sitting on the Embassy's desk. This happen in a period of 5 months. USPS had NO clue where or who delivered it! And didn't care.

Unfortunately, I was a first-time victim of stolen gifts this year. Several boxes I sent to different parts of the country arrived missing several items and had things replaced instead of the original hand-made/sentimental gifts I sent.

In one case a basil seedling plant was stolen and replaced with a blue book value on motorcycles and ATV’s… the gift was actually taped back up with this instead! Luckily my family thought this was fishy and called to ask me about it, otherwise I would never have known. This tipped me off to call and check on everything else and resulted in a very melancholy Christmas day as the amount of stolen items grew. (It was my first Christmas living away from home and it really added to the grief.)

It breaks my heart that you cannot trust the postal service. This had to happen here in LA because things were mailed to different locations. At this point it is only my word against theirs, but nothing was worth much retail value… just sentimental value, so I declined additional insurance when they asked. When I did so, the postal worker said, “Your loss” which I guess she meant! Considering I mailed everything way ahead of time and nothing was of much retail value, I thought this was a safe bet.

Since this is a federal fraud, the more instances they find of similar crimes will result in a greater punishment.

It’s hard to imagine anyone could sleep at night after stealing gifts with only sentimental value, but I guess anything is possible during these hard economic times.

USPS is not reliable for delivering packages on time. Do not use them if you want a pkg delivered in a timely manner. While they advertise 2-3 days for priority mail, my last pkg arrived in 5 days, long after the time I need the items. Of course, since they are government, one has no recourse.

United States Postal Service [USPS] no mail

USPS carriers in Marion, IN have been missing whole streets! There is a bar at the corner and several of them are there daily.

We have expected mail but have not received any in over four days! We are constantly getting a different carrier.

Our complaint was glossed over by the post office. You would think that with the rising cost a friggin stamps the service would be better!

This is just another "Bushism" as far as I am concerned. We oay to keep the post office running and yet we are treated this way!

The USPS should be abolished in favour of email for everyone.

United States Postal Service [USPS] inefficiency, stupidity and incompetence

The USPS was unable to give me detailed information about two identical charges submitted to American Express on the same day because their PO Box clerk was out for the day. No one else in the PO has access to the information. When I asked to speak with the Postmaster I was told he was out till Thursday and when inquired who was taking his place, I was told it was the route delivery supervisor with whom I was speaking. When I asked for the number of the Postmaster General in DC I was told they do not have that number. This bespeaks great inefficiency and is very sad, indeed! I am old enough to remember happier and more efficient times; times when POs were staffed with civil servants who responded with alacrity rather than platitudes which utterly frustrate even the simplest efforts to rectify a problem or make an inquiry. I suggest that this site compile a list of "action" phone numbers where one can get through to a real, live person that can assist in resolving a problem or respond to an inquiry in an interested, energetic, intelligent and resourceful manner. Being served by those who are mentally moribund or who left their brains at home or who simply do not care is a disgrace and an insult to the consumer's intelligence.

Many USPS employees and contractors are fine caring people who do do their best to help consumers.
Unfortunately the many walls and barriers erected by USPS management (?) to protect themselves from customer contact and avoid any and all accountability make it all but impossible for even the best of USPS staff to perform effectively.
So, yes, the USPS is broken but it's not so much a money issue problematic as that is but one of management attitude and incompetence.
Fire the fat cats and maybe, just maybe, the Post Office can be saved.

It's time to privatize the Postal Service.

It's bloated, corrupt and incompetent.

It's a hindrance instead of an asset. That goes for most government agencies.

The USPS is a business just like any other, and as such, it is supposed to serve the public and provide the service we pay for and expect to get for our money. If that service is not provided, or it is less than favorable, who can we complain to...and shouldn't the (ir-)responsible person(s) be held accountable for our loss?
I sent 2 boxes from PA. (parcel post) on Aug. 7. One arrived at the destination in Ohio on Aug. 11. It is Aug. 16 and the other box has still not been received.
I have called the destination Post Office twice to inquire after the missing box. The first time, I was told to be patient, that it could take up to 10 days to arrive. The second call, Josh took the pertinent information and said he would check for the box and would call me back in half an hour...I have waited 21 and one half hours for Josh to call back...do you think he too got lost among the other lost packages sitting in the Post Office ? (Sarcastically)
Seriously, what is my recourse...who can I complain to and will it help ?
Perhaps I can try to track the box down myself if the USPS will provide information to me.

United States Postal Service [USPS] Terrible service

This post office have cause me so much headache. In the last month it lost three of my packages, two of them with tracking numbers which stated 'delivered' when I never got it and there is always someone here at home to receive packages. I tried to follow up on this and all the supervisor was telling me is they will investigate and call me for updates. They never called back (as I predicted anyway) and when I myself called them already, all they can say was that the mailman wasn't sure what he did. Why just blame the mailman? This is supposed to be a collective afford in tracking. And, if the mailman wasn't sure of what he/she did, who the hell would update the status to delivered?! What's so maddening thing is the delivery confirmation service bought for these packages were useless & infuriating because it stated delivered when I never got it!

So, apart from their joke delivery confirmation service they lost my $100 worth of ebay purchases. UPS, DHL and FEdex tracking & shipping service is galaxies away from this trashy USPS service. If you live in Torrance and know that this is your main office, have your package delivered by the other couriers because this post office doesn't know what it's doing.

I absolutely agree.I'm totally disappointed from USPS. I've never had such a bad experience with any other delivery companies. Employees are arrogant and the most sad is that they don't even bother to do their work.

I am unemployed and stay home the whole day especially when I am waiting for any deliveries.I'VE NEVER GOT ANY DELIVERY FROM USPS TO MY DOOR.THEY DONT EVEN BOTHER TO RING ON THE BELL.ALL THEY DO IS TO LEAVE THIS LITTLE NOTE "SORRY WE MISSED YOU". Then when I go to the office to pick up my package this arrogant ladies are almost to fight with me why Am I there.

All I can do is to recommend you UPS services. They always come next to the door and ring on the bell until somebody open the door.If not they come back on the next day and the day after, so you can be sure that you will have the shipping you paid for.

US Postal Service is no longer a "service" but a hassle. I agree totally. I've sent a packages and paid for "signature confirmation" to ensure the person I sent it to would receive it, and not someone in his senior apt. complex. Sure enough. It was delivered to a total stranger. Fortunately, the package did get to him eventually. I've also had mail sent back to senders with a "Attempt to Deliver" sticker on it. I've lived at the same place for almost two years. There was no "attempt to deliver" at all. Somebody just got lazy or careless. One of these errors of theirs cost me over $50.00. My question is: to whom can you complain and get results?

United States Postal Service [USPS] terrible service

I shipped a package from NY to myself in Las Vegas. My package contained 3 antique vases from my grandmother's estate. I purchased $500 of insurance on my package. When I returned to Las Vegas I discovered my vases were all broken. I filled out a PS form 1000 and got an estimate for repair of my vases. I brought my package and claim for to the Crossroads post office for inspection. They inspected my items and packaging, signed and accepted my claim for and gave me a customer copy of the PS 1000 form. My claim was later denied for "lack of evidence". I appealed the denied claim and it was still rejected stating they could not prove the package was damaged from mishandling. On my 3rd appeal they denied it stating that I didn't even bring in my items for inspection! This is completely untrue because my items were inspected as stated on the PS form 1000. It clearly states that all my packaging and contents were brought in for inspection and were visibly damaged and it was signed by post office personnel. It's clear to me that insurance services offer by the post office is nothing more than a fraudulent scam and that they have no intentions on ever paying back their customers on their claims when they damage or lose their items.

United States Postal Service [USPS] delivery problems

As I expect - like many other people - financial and other such documents to arrive in my mailbox. Such that I can trust myself to (among other things) pay taxes and not be arrested for not paying taxes. It still comes to mind that the possible ignorance of a financial reality or livelihood could be stolen by the inadequate methods of the post office to account for the human error of the employee delivering to a specific building. Just a general complaint. But, still an important one to make in public.

If you have had any such similar experiences, then why not do something about it other than begging in private to appear on sixty minutes or the today show. This begs the question, how many people have been cost livelihood or any other such financial reality by the occasional, idiotic post office employee who slots their mail in the wrong mailbox?

This strikes me as a logical nightmare for everybody to be concerned about in this day and age. During which we cannot ignore the possibility of human error.

The incompetent, unprofessional employee who did this(Judy)refuses to take my calls and several complaints I filed regarding this have all been ignored.I LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DUE TO THIS MISTAKE!The mere fact that they are choosing to ignore me rather than properly address this issue will cost many times what I have lost with the lawsuit I intend to bring against the USPS and JUDY!Way to run a business!

United States Postal Service [USPS] terrible service!

I brought about 4 packages to the post office to be shipped including one Large valuable box to be shipped. I purchased delivery confirmation for all of the packages. All of the packages accept the large valuable package showed online everywhere they were processed and what cities they went through processing. Now all of the packages accept the large valuable package have been delivered But the large valuable package says it never left my local post office and it is now six days later. How can a package stay at a post office for six days without leaving? I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE AT MY LOCAL POST OFFICE MAY HAVE STOLEN THE PACKAGE SINCE IT NEVER LEFT MY LOCAL POST OFFICE. IT HAD NOWHERE TO GET LOST AT IF IT NEVER EVEN LEFT THE POST OFFICE.

I live in Acworth GA and have had sooooooo many problems getting my mail. I never got Christmas cards that people called me to see if I received and baby shower that I never received and the person called me because they know the service was so bad.
I then stopped receiving mail. I called the Supervisor and they said the delivery person said someone told her I do not live there anymore. I ask my landlord which it is just his family in the top two floors and I live in the 1st floor he said he never said that.
I then was suppose to get paperwork on the sale of the home I use to live in and the lawyers office said they sent it over two weeks ago. They then sent it certified mail. I was home all of the days because I work nights and they left 3 notices that they tried to delivery but was not able to. I called again the post office and told them I was at home those days and gave them directions on how to get to my door even down to telling them it is a patio door. Still no result. So I called after the third time and said come on Saturday because I knew everyone at the house would be there and they would have no reason not to be delivered.
This is after the 2nd time of calling and setting up a new day. So again I worked the night shift and stayed up again and no mail. I could not think that as much as these people get paid that they can not deliver a package, plus with the rate of stamps just going up. I was told if the package is not delivered by so many days the package would be sent back to the lawyer. This really made me mad. So after staying up, calling and getting a different day so many times they now tell me that my package would be sent back to the lawyer if I do not receive.
Then the next thing we are getting other peoples mail all the time...both myself and the family I rent from take the mail to the people but that is not our job. So in the mailbox right now there is a registered notice for another family that I refuse to take just because I work nights and the last thing I want to do is go deliver mail when I get home at 8:30am. How many time do I need to call and tell the manager we have a problem? I kept all the notices in case they say they did try to deliver because I have people that know when I come home and these things were not delivered or even tried to be delivered. I did tell the last person I spoke to that the post person needs to get out of the truck in order to knock on the door because I am so upset at this point. What do I have to do to get my mail. The other and last thing is when someone sends me mail say on Monday I might not get it until Thursday or Friday sometimes the next Monday. I know people say it is snail mail but come on. I know I said that was the last thing but I just remembered about putting my car payment mail in the mail box and it sat their in the box 2 days with no one picking it up. I just think this route needs to be looked at. It is not right that I have to worry about getting my mail or for my mail to be picked up.
I have more things but I will stop at this.

United States Postal Service [USPS] - terrible service!

I live in Center, North Dakota, (58530) and I am wondering why we are required to pay for mail delivery when most of the United States gets free delivery. Our post office box charge has changed from $15.00 per year to $38.00 per year and it seems really unfair that the only way we can get mail delivery is by renting a post office box and why is the fee not...

United States Postal Service [USPS] I never got my packages

I was in Oklahoma and decided to mail my packages home to Hawaii. I had three boxes to send and when I was asked how I wanted it sent priority or standard mail the postman told me that packages don't go on a ship anymore for standard mail and it would take 2-6 business days well, it has been a month and when I went to the post office to inquire about my packages I told the post lady what the other postman said 2-6 days and her reply was "he lied to you" it will be 4-8 weeks. If I would have known that I would have sent it priority and she said they have no way of tracing it.

I'm sick there was 5 hundred dollars worth of stuff in

those boxes and when I looked at the receipt later after I left the post office the postman didn't even give me the requested amount of insurance.

I'm at a total loss at what to do..

United States Postal Service [USPS] lost my package

This letter is a compliant on the way my claim was handled by USPS. I have purchased insurance for an item that I sold on Amazon.com which was claimed to be lost (proof of insurance claim# [protected] on 12/03/2007). I have brought the issue to Truth or Consequences, NM office and talked to John who helped to make a claim for it. I submitted all the information but I received a letter from Joe Hernandez for additional information on it. John had taken the responsibility to be in touch with Joe about it. I submitted the new information on USPS on 01/02/2008 and I paid one dollar for the delivery. Susan in post office indicated after stamping the mail that I shouldn’t have stamp for this internal office mail. John went to vacation and when he came back he said he doesn’t handle it from now showing discomfort of dealing with the person who handles the claim, Joe.

I have been calling Joe before than and he has called back a few times as I couldn’t get a hold of him. Finally I spoke to him and he said he will look into it and call me. When I didn’t hear from him in reasonable time I called him and left a message that my time has expired to appeal. I finally was able to talk to him on the phone when he insisted that he never heard from me and the case is dismissed. I indicated that I have sent him the document and meanwhile John was looking into it. He got upset and said it was my responsibility to get in touch and this should not have been John’s business. I indicated that I listened to what I was told and I have been trying to get a hold of him. He said at this time it is too late. I asked for the main number for San Luis office so I can explain my situation. He said he can’t give me that. He then said he has other customers waiting and when I asked for his manager contact, he hung up the phone. When I tried to call back he didn’t pick up the phone.

I am very sorry that this has been my experience with your office. I have sent other material using USPS and I have bought insurance for some of them. This is the first time I have claimed for the lost item and didn’t know I have to go through so much hardship to get any where. I don’t find this a professional behaviour from USPS and don’t appreciate how Joe handled this case. I have kept a copy of file I have sent him and I am pretty sure I can find a receipt of this material sent to him.

As your customer I am very disappointed to see the way my case was handled. For whatever reason I have been neglected for my many phone calls, the document that I sent given a short period to respond and have talked to John who first took responsibility and then was sorry for not being able to do anything. I have done every thing I was supposed to do and I should have been listened and a solution should have come out rather than a rude behaviour of hanging up the phone.

I request a follow up on this complain. I want to collect my $75 for the merchandise they lost when they lost my package. I also need to have my claim to be reopened due to the lack of appropriate response from the representative Joe Hernandez.

I'd mailed out a package (containing face moisturizers, etc...) on 8/13/10 to Singapore at the Pleasantville, NY Post Office & was advised by the staff that it was first-class trackable & has a default insurance of up to $150. After about 2 weeks, I learned that the package still hadn't arrived, after which I took my receipt out & looked closely at it & saw that it was going to France! I have the correct destination address on the box itself - postal staff told me that it'll be mailed according to the address on the package. But it never arrived.

From then on, I'd gone back to the Pleasantville PO & nobody could help me. I called the 800 # & logged my complaint, & nobody could help me. All anyone could tell me is that my package is untrackable & has no insurance on it, & that I was given incorrect information. The tracking # stated that my package arrived at the Jamaica, NY PO. To cut the long story short, nobody knows where the package is and that there's nothing they can do. So now I'm 1 in the infinite number of people whom USPS has disappointed & let down. So much for trying to give business to them!

it happened to me too. From my opinion, they should at least show us where the parcel had been sent to. Showing us exactly where is the parcel right now. What i got back is just the wrapping paper of the parcel which showed my return address. The item in it was totally lost. I can't find any reason except someone working there had taken the item.

Driving down potrero hill to mission dist in San Francisco Ca a black male driving a U.S postal van grey with no plates running stop signs and driving in a zig zag pattern as if he was intoxicated. I looked to see who it was in his driver mirror and to see if he looked intoxicated but it appear to be fine smoking a cigeratt. I got a van number that is 5934156 no plates in zip 94110.

October 4, 2013, about 4:15pm, corner of Van Buren and Peden, zip code 77006, driver of vehicle #2219594 ran a stop sign and nearly ran into me as I was entering my driveway. He pulled alongside another postal carrier's vehicle and proceeded to converse with her for about five minutes, blocking traffic in both directions (she was parked correctly against the curb, he was in the left lane next to her). I walked outside and waved, and asked if he saw the stop sign. The parked driver went on her way to deliver her mail and the on who ran the stop sign and was blocking traffic apologized nonchalantly and drove off. Incidentally, my own mail did not get delivered today. I've already complained about four times concerning sporadic delivery and drivers blocking driveways and so on. This is a very affluent neighborhood, but regardless of location, it's completely unprofessional behavior.

I have said for years USPS will be privatized. It can not come soon enough. I recently had a package returned because the "w" was not on the address label. It was my mistake, however, the person is a prominent businessman who has lived at the same address since 1949. Has had a P.O. box in the Post Office for the same period. Returned with note "no such number'. What has happened to customer service? How long will it take to look up a person in a small town and deliver the package. No, take the customers money and RUN! Totally unacceptable in my opinion. All blamed on 'automation'. How much time and money was spent to return the package? Privatization...YES!

Agree 100%.
This is one area where privatization is really needed.
Dissolve the USPS. Save the budget.
Put the leeches on the street.

United States Postal Service [USPS] u. s. postal service has become arrogant and irresponsible

I received a return to sender letter that I sent out on Apr 5, 08. The explanation was that the street address didn't exist. I searched the address on Google and the street does exist. I called the post office at Camino Al Norte in North Las Vegas. They couldn't figure out what was going on. The customer service rep at the post office became irritated at my persistent questions about how the problem was going to be solved. She said she will talk to the carrier, and that I would have to call back to find out. I explained that I should get a call back from them. What happened to customer service? I feel that the U.S. Postal Service has become arrogant, and irresponsible like the IRS.

I have had a package that was verified sent out by the Israeli mail service to the US by airmail on 2/27/11. I know it has been shipped out to the US but I have no way of knowing if it even arrived at the US because whenever I use my tracking number (it’s been seven days now) it reports back with the same “no record of item”. I called USPS and they told me to file an investigation with the post office in Israel. Why do that? Their tracking service seems to be working fine and according to them it’s not even there anymore. I know the seller sent it because there was tracking before it left Israel. USPS was no help to me over the phone and didn’t even seem like they wanted to investigate it. I am fed up with no tracking now and I am really regretting not paying the little extra to get it mailed out FedEx. I have 70 dollars just floating around somewhere and have no idea how to track it. BS if you ask me. I am NEVER using usps ever again.

We get a certain substitute female carrier every now and then and when I see the mail van stopping for a length of time. She has long stops at each home. She is constantly talking on her cell phone. I have personally heard her talking on her cell phone and I know for a fact that it is a personal call.
