Greetings from South Africa,

A NUISANCE

this website offers US immigration visas on a lottery basis; although i did initiate a response by registering, it should be possible at any time to be spared any further marketing mail

in my experience this is not the case; getting rid of these mails is a very difficult process and i have not yet been successful in doing it

i cannot comment on the bona fides of the organisation, as i decided not to enter into a financial transaction with the organisation, and did not pay over any funds

the phone number has simply been recorded from a mail message received and is untested

i encourage anyone to think twice before getting onto this mailing list

kind regards

Peter

Save your money and apply directly to the Diversity Visa Lottery. The information is on the official site of the US Citizinship and Citizen Services office:

Important Notice

No fee is charged for the electronic lottery entry in the annual DV program. The U.S. Government employs no outside consultants or private services to operate the DV program. Any intermediaries or others who offer assistance to prepare DV entries do so without the authority or consent of the U.S. Government. Use of any outside intermediary or assistance to prepare a DV entry is entirely at the entrant’s discretion.

The Department of State strongly encourages applicants to complete the application without the assistance of “Visa Consultants, ” “Visa Agents, ” or other individuals who offer to submit an application on behalf of applicants. In many cases, these facilitators substitute their address for an applicant’s address and thereby receive the selection notification instead of it being received by the actual applicant. Subsequently, the visa facilitators extort money from the selectees in order to receive the notification information that should rightly have gone directly to the DV selectee.

Whoops, I was referring to a positive review of USAFIS on another site (see my first sentence, above). However, everything after that is in context here :-)

I've enough experience of USAFIS to know they'd post this review! Give me a break... When asked for a copy of an official US Government receipt they sent some phoney Word document that anyone could have made by cut 'n' paste from a PDF of a real document. They never stop calling, never stop emailing, even when you write back and say I got a green card already! Or if you just say you use a real attorney they still have people who barely speak English call you. Maybe they have a call center in India now! When, oh when, will the FBI or some official agency shut them down? Seriously, their reputation precedes them, yet they're so brazenly hiding behind some borders somewhere, getting away with calling from third countries and all that. They only way they can continue to make money is to lure people who don't know better, like those who can least afford it. Do yourself a favor, get a real attorney to file your paperwork for anything from $200 to $500. Or just do it yourself for free, online! And please, someone in the US investigative services, shut these people down. Or at least legislate so they can't disguise their website to look official!
