This was unbelievable! I called a locksmith out to see if they could re-key an existing lock on a commercial building. The guy that came out had a bunch of door-knobs and locks in the back of his car, and sold me a "high security" lock. Later I was told by a licensed, bonded and insured Locksmith that the lock he sold me for $248.00 was something that I could buy at Homedepot for under $20.00 and install myself. In the process, the USA Locksmith guy mutilated our old commercial grade doorknob because he didn't know how to remove it from the door. Turns out that the real locksmith could have removed it with a simple specialty screwdriver that all licensed locksmiths carry.
Turns out that there is a group of phoney locksmiths moving from city to city around the country. They started in Chicago and are now in Seattle. Please make sure your locksmith has a license before they do any work!
