Unlimited Vacation Club membership plan

My fiancé and I recently vacationed in Cancun and were pitched the Unlimited Vacation Club. We were interested in Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita. Our sales rep said the current rate is $160/person per night. The manager, Victor, said "$160/person per nights?!? No, maybe at Christmas, not now. The rates are $95/person / per night". A week later (past the "cancellation deadline", we actually received our log in information, so that we could verify the rates, before making our deposit for the wedding, the rates were at least double what we were quoted- easily $250/person per night in July.

We called to cancel on the basis of misrepresentation. We were told that we would receive a phone call within 48 hours. Five days later, no call. We called again and were told once again to expect a phone call within 48 hours.

We were contacted by the company after our second call 48 hours later. A week later, we were able to reach an agreement that was satisfactory to all parties. The company also reached out to us via this website within 24 hours of filing a complaint.

We have put down $15, 000 towards the full $ 21, 000 payment of Silver Membership for 30 yrs. We still do not have a legal contract due to their mistake on down payment. After reading all the lies and unkept promises, we are scared to follow through. It seems that everyone gets different perks. We didn't even get a discount for nearly paying all cash. We also got free yachts, 28 free nights, 4 Bonus weeks from RCI for 249.00 each. Now we are learning it could be all lies? Help! Need some feedback. Donna

I’m writing this with the hope that it will save at least one person/family from the negative hardship that has happened to me. I visited Mexico the first week in March (2016) with my daughter. Immediately upon getting our rental car from the Hertz rental place I was approached by a salesman (unknown to me at that time, I thought he worked at the car...

Unlimited Vacation Club vacation package

My partner and I (plus 20 family members) were in Punta Cana from Feb 9-16 2016, staying at the Now Garden Resort. We purchased our package thru Westjet Vacation package for $4, 700 CAD

We spend a total of 6 hours with the sales team regarding the purchase of the Unlimited Vacation Club package for AMResorts on Feb 10, 2016.

We were asked how much we paid for our trip from the sales person, and we told her. she calculated out that we paid about $3, 500 CAD for accommodation cost from the package. She punched in some numbers on the calculator and told us that if we were a member, we would only be paying $70 USD/night per person to stay at the Now Garden Resort for the same date that we are travelling now. She even told us sometimes it could be even cheaper then $70 or maybe a little more then that.

we purchased the Unlimted Vacation Club package at $11, 500 CAD and signed all the papers.

However afterward, I re-read the documents again, and noticed that we are only getting 25% off the regular published rate. However that don't added up with what the sales rep. was telling us. compare from $500 CAD per night with Westjet down to $140 USD/ night if you are a member.

Next morning we went back to the sales office and spoke to the sales rep again, and she referred me to talk to the manager there so he can explain it to us much better. I asked the manager to show us the member price for this resort, as I don't have access to the members area yet. we didn't watch him log in in the website, he just come up and showed us a page showing the cost to stay at Now Larimar Resort (which is in the same resort area as Now Garden resort), the price showed $1, 500 USD, and I then asked him why $1, 500 when we were quoted $140/night. I was advise because Now Larimar Resort is a little more expensive. After that I didn't question them about it anymore. We rather pay $1, 500 USD to stay at this resort then $3, 500 CAD

today is Feb 22, 2016, I received an email with my username and password to log into the members area. I tried to check to see what our rate would be to stay at the Now Larimar resort for this week, the rate for 2 people is $2, 870 USD, that is WAY more then the $1, 500 USD i was shown by the Manager. I have been totally LIED and MISLEADED by the sales person and the sales manager.

$2, 870 USD converted to CAD $ at the rate of 1.4 exchange = $4, 018 CAD

I paid $11, 500 CAD to pay for vacation package that cost more then if I were to go book it thru Westjet Vacation package? I must be stupid!

I want a full refund for the 50% payment of $5, 750 CAD that was charged on my credit card, as I have been mislead into buying into this Unlimited Vacation Club deal.

Unlimited Vacation Club not what they promised

We signed up for unlimited vacation club in July last year they promised rooms for a week at any of the secrets or sunscape resort would be no more than 569 for the week. We would get three bonus weeks for anywhere with rci that needed to be booked with in the year and could be scheduled several years out if we liked. The resorts offer no rooms for that for the week. The bonus weeks I couldn't book anywhere in Central America for the summer. It's 6 months out come on. Looked at booking secrets in Costa Rica they wanted 3300 for the week. I called my travel agent he got us room at secrets and airfare for two for 3500. Really where are the benefits. This is a complete scam. They give me the run around on phone and after two weeks we get a call from mediator who tells us they want 50% to cancel. Looking for an attorney as we speak. Hate to admit I was scammed

I accidentally deleted their response wanting me to contact them again on their site. They have gave me the run around and tell me I misunderstood what they said and they never said what I heard to make the package worth my time and money. I just want it canceled and can't even get them to do that ready to just cut my losses

Unlimited Vacation Club lies about everything!

My elderly parents love to travel. They are fun, social, friendly, and generous to a fault. They were invited on a recent vacation to attend a presentation for UVC. Newly settled into retirement they felt like they might want to join one of these programs, to potentially make it easier to plan their trips- do paperwork and payment now, and then travel when you want. My Dad had concerns committing to a 30-year program, as he is already 75. The salesman promised him that this was no problem. Many members had similar situations and needed to spend their “points” in less time due to age. He informed my parents that they could transfer their last 15 years of pre-paid points, to the first 15 years and spend them at a faster rate by upgrading their accommodations. The terms they were quoted were a $25, 000 lump sum, and then a $700/year maintenance for each year until your purchased points are used up. My parents clarified- DOES THE MAINTENANCE FEE END WHEN THE POINTS ARE USED UP? The answer was “Absolutely!”

My parents aren’t dumb or gullible. But they are from a time when gentlemen’s agreements are made, you negotiate deals, and your word means something. They don’t have the same consumer skepticism that most of us more digitally savvy folks do. In hindsight, their big mistake was not trudging through the detailed and complex contract to look for all the promises that had been made (by salesman Lance Vaughan [protected]@hotmail.com). If they had, then what they would have realized is that they signed up to pay $25, 000 and $700/year for THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. Obviously my father doesn't expect to be using this program aged 105! Even when my parents asked about that specific aspect, UVC confirmed that transferring the points forward wouldn't cost them, and that it was noted in the contract. In reality, it was nowhere in the contract.

Almost immediately my parents tried to book their first trip and ran into inconsistencies between what the salesmen promised, and what the vacation coordinators were saying. My father has tried to talk to supervisors and management for help (Robert Lieffers – Director of Sales [protected]@msn.com), but no one seems to care now that the money has exchanged hands and a contract has been signed. I called on their behalf, with the intention of explaining more clearly the terms to which they’d agreed. The customer service gal was defensive, insulting, flippant, and ended our exchange by shouting “You better get your facts straight, ma’am”. My parents have pleaded with them, stating that they simply won’t be able to use this program later in life and they will be unable to make the payments. UVC’s response was that it would be turned over to collections.

To say that my parents are devastated is an understatement. There have been tears, arguments, incredible stress and fear about factoring this into their future fixed income. We’ve all tried to contact this company to discuss options or work out some sort of agreement, but UVC just tells us to “Review the Contract”. We weren't even looking to escape the contract altogether, we were looking to have it honor what was represented! We could use the prepaid points by upgrading in the first 15 years and then be done with it! But no one at UVC will even consider any remedy to this situation- or speak to us for that matter. I've never heard of a company not attempting to reconcile or agree to talk through a misunderstanding.

My family loves the concept of timeshare and vacation programs. They would’ve been happy customers for life, and been UVC’s (and the industry’s) greatest evangelists. But I find myself now focused on making sure no one else falls for this same misrepresentation of facts and coercion especially the more senior customer segment. Additionally, our community of UVC members should be fully aware of these practices.

We are in a similar situation. My wife and I were worn down after 6.5 hours of our HONEYMOON was wasted listening to them apply high pressure tactics all the while feeding us copious amounts of alcohol. We were both highly intoxicated at the signing of the contract (we have pictures to prove it). Any and all contact we've had with UVC since then has been nothing short of frustrating. Today when we decided, "well, we are already $7, 000 into it, might as well use it for going on a vacation", my wife called and attempted to set something up. After being passed to NINE different representatives and given 4 DIFFERENT quotes for the same trip, each one higher than the last, she finally just hung up hysterically crying. They have now wasted a grand total of 9 hours of our lives and so far have only TAKEN money from us. I thought in exchange for all of the money we are paying them, that we would receive some sort of goods and or services...all we've received are headaches and possibly an ulcer. I'm guessing the only thing I'll hear from this is "we tried to contact you but you didn't answer so we closed the case" which is CERTAINLY bullcrap as well...

My wife and I vacationed at Cancun, Mexico from April 1st to April 5th, 2015 . At April 4th we attended a presentation at Secret The Vine Resort in Cancun owned by Unlimited Vacation Club. We were told about a lot of benefits of becoming a member of Unlimited Vacation Club. We signed a contract of $21, 900 and paid $6740.74 on the spot. When we returned to...

Unlimited Vacation Club misleading tactics

Looks I am one of many that got talked into something that was not what it was touted to be. I do wish to be notified by the individual that was getting a class action against this 'club' as I will join in. Paying for something that you can't use is the pits, a great way to make money off people for selling nothing. if all went well when we tried to book a date or make changes online it would be fine but you can't for changes you have to talk to their office Fl., and they charge for any and all changes some have double fees! I really like the Dreams resorts too bad they partnered with these rip off artists.

Putting limits on periods during which premier weeks can be used is bad. I was unable to use me 2 premier weeks because my brother was dying of cancer. They expired and would only be restored if we upped our membership level for another $10, 000. Cannot be restored without paying that money. Does this make sense? Is this something you want to send good money after bad? I think not. Run fast if they try to con you. I will go to all ends to ensure that I can sav others from this very stupid mistake,

Unlimited Vacation Club unethical sales practices

I recently went on a trip to Mexico and was taken in by a Secrets vacation club in which the talk was fast, the smiles unlimited, the promises undocumented and the small incidential's not even mentioned. After returning home and reviewing and researching this club we found many cons and some pros regarding this club. Items mentioned very briefly at the presentation were glanced over, other items in the contracts were not even mentioned. Upon calling UVC about our wanting to cancel this contract due to breach, they keep calling and emailing me for a response...I sent them my original letter stating why I was cancelling (PS not cancellation clause in contract) and they responded back with a counteroffer (extra add on's to what the original purchase was). I had to leave for a business trip and have not been able to respond to their counteroffer as of yet but will shortly. Since I cancelled the credit/debit card I used so they cannot withdraw any funds, and I filed a complaint with my banking institution and received a provisional credit until we get this worked out.

I swear the sales reps took Jordan Belfort's Straight Line of Persuasion course! I will never again attend another one of these type presentations! Old saying buyer beware is one to live by!

Hoping to get this resolved shortly!

I have been sending them correspondence stating that we were taken in by their salesperson misrepresentation of the actual deal. feeding us alcoholic drinks during the presentation and at the breakfast/brunch, that their counter offer trying to persuade us to take the deal with additional perks show that there was no meeting of the minds which is what a contract requires by law. I closed the account out that was given for auto payments and my bank has given us a provisional credit. The case is still active so I do not know what the next step will be... to be continued!

HI

I am from Illinois and would be very interested in supporting a class action lawsuit. I was sold a product/service under false pretense, I was told the "free week: was available for immediate use and would waive the black out dates in exchange for singing up with them. Long story short, I just got off the line with Fabiola Enriquez Fenriquez@unlimitedvc.com from the member quality assurance department and she indeed gloated about being protected by the laws of Panama for a company doing business in Mexico and owned by Hyatt which holds head quarters in Chicago. She referred me to her legal team as she claimed she didn't have a superior or manager above her. Arbitrationmanager@unlimitedvc.com. I was told to be released from the contract they would need 50% of the value of the contract to be released. So imagine if you fell for their 100k, 50k, 25k, package, then you would owe them 50% of those amounts. These people scam you into buying something that is not true and then charge you extra just to be released. When you call them out on their unethical practices and lies they get very defensive and threaten you with credit agencies going after you credit.

If any one does have an active lawsuit or in the works of creating one I would like to speak to you as this practice will continue until someone does anything about it. I do have her on recording specifically saying that they did offer the free week before but then took it away as people caught on to their games.

Serious inquiries only - NestorAmigon@gmail.com

I just came back from cancun and sorry to say but they persuaded my wife to get a 10 yrs. packet. As in your case we signed lots of papers that I am sure nobody really reviews until one gets home and the alcohol and exaggeration of benefits has faded. I have been reading it but can't find anywhere our right to cancel. However, I found a section a where they have 30 days to reject. The whole contract is one sided. For instance you can only sue in Dominican Republic. Strangely enough in other section it says that you can not taken them to court. You are only allowed to use a mediator.
